Handmade dolls textile patterns. DIY dolls

Cloth dolls are an old type of needlework, which was breathed new life by craftsmen from all over the world. Modern doll - bright, stylish, not boring. There are examples of sewing simple baby dolls and very realistic dolls. Today, figurines based on simple patterns are popular.

Handmade textile dolls are, as a rule, toys not for small children, but for quite adult girls. At least based on the fact that these fragile dolls can break or become dirty during active handling, and washing them is not recommended. Indeed, often textile toys are tinted, flavored, and their face is covered with acrylic paints. And they are also decorated with numerous accessories in the form of tiny flowers, buttons, brooches and other beautiful little things.

A textile doll will be an excellent gift or a unique decoration for any interior.

It is important for every novice needlewoman who wants to create a textile doll with her own hands to choose her own option among the whole variety of existing types of such toys in accordance with her skill level.

Let's see what textile dolls exist today.

A simple model does not need sewing, it can be twisted from multi-colored shreds in just a couple of minutes. If desired, you can also sew an elegant sundress for a Russian beauty, and a caftan and boots for her gentleman.

The most ancient in Slavic and Russian culture are. They were assistants in various affairs of the ancient hostesses. The cabbage, placed on the window, reported that the girl was ready for marriage, Rozhanitsa helped in childbirth. The well-being of the whole family depended on the special mood of the needlewoman during the manufacture of such a rag doll with her own hands. The head of amulet dolls has no eyes, mouth and nose. Ideally, they are performed without scissors, the fabrics are simply torn by hand.

Attic (primitives)

Such primitive dolls are somewhat aged and careless, as if they had been lying in the attic for many years. very simple because of the rather simple forms. When sewing, the sections are not processed, the toy is given a very shabby look due to tinting. At first glance, it seems that the doll is made from materials that first came to hand. However, this is not the case. Every detail of the toy with its deliberately shabby is carefully thought out and carefully executed.

Their appearance varies from button or patchwork eyes and an asymmetrical figure to a realistic acrylic face and graceful body shapes. Such diversity occurs because the author's doll thrives in this particular environment.

Tilda doll

A special case of a primitive doll. Poorly developed face, but very expressive hair and figure. The Internet is replete with examples of how to sew a doll. This is a textile Barbie, with a lot of roles and themed clothes. From flower girl to princess. Its sewing will bring you a lot of pleasure. For beginners, it is best to start with these dolls.

waldorf doll

The peculiarity of this doll is that her body has the correct proportions inherent in an adult or a child, depending on the model. The limbs move at the base. You can't call this baby skinny.

If you follow the technology for sewing such a toy, you will get a fairly realistic figure. Inside her head is a tightly stuffed ball, tied with wire or thread according to a certain pattern, which makes it possible to give relief to her face, and a bead in place of her nose. Flesh-colored jersey fabric stretched over the top. Very handy for gaming purposes.

Pumpkinhead

The main difference of this toy is because of the head, which consists of five wedges, which is very similar to a small pumpkin. The junction of the wedges is slightly extended forward and forms a neat spout. A wide scope for the master's imagination is the pupa's face, on which eyes and a mouth are drawn with acrylic paints. Numerous designer textile dolls are created on the basis. Below we suggest that you familiarize yourself with a master class on creating a pumpkin head with your own hands.

Snowball

The main feature is large legs with a reinforced foot and dot eyes (although there are Snowballs with painted eyes). Due to the stable legs with a special shape and very dense padding, they can stand firmly on the surface.

Tryapiens

Trepiens came to us from Korea or Japan and have a very graceful physique, small heads with chic hairstyles, rich and elaborate outfits. The patterns of such a textile doll are quite simple; closed eyes are drawn on the face. All the skill of the author lies in creating a magnificent hairstyle and intricate clothes.

Having learned how to make standard dolls, any master comes to the creation of his own unique textile doll. He remakes well-known patterns for his work, changes the shape of the toy's body and head, and looks for new options. This is how an author's textile doll appears.

Master class on creating a pumpkin head

For those needlewomen who are on fire with the idea of making a textile doll with their own hands, we offer a master class on creating a droplet-Aprilka pumpkin head.

DIY fabric doll

We offer to sew a doll with your own hands based on the Waldorf. Our plump woman resembles her in appearance. Only the limbs will be fastened with buttons, like traditional plush animals. This method is now very popular not only in terms of convenience, but also aesthetics: buttons on the shoulders and hips enhance the decorative effect of the image. We will embroider the face, like a Waldorf, we will borrow the bulge of the nose.

To sew a doll, we need 2 types of matter: white or beige flannel and dense colored material. In our case, jeans were used, more precisely, shreds from old jeans. In front of the torso we sew from the bleached part of the leg. Pattern details must be made symmetrical in color. The back is darker.

First, we cut out 2 parts of the front, then we apply them to the fabric from which we sew the back, and pin them with sewing pins. Cut out the details and sew the side seams of the body bag. After that, we cut off the front and back seams, sew with a continuous line. We stuff the body so that it is not too hard, but keeps its shape well.

Let's start sewing the limbs. We translate the hand pattern onto a flannel folded in half, cut off the details, cut them out. We sew on a typewriter so that on the inner fold of the handle there is an unstitched hole for turning and stuffing. When the parts are stuffed, we sew this hole with a hidden seam. We do the same with the legs of the doll. We leave a hole on the lower part of the thigh. No need to stuff the arms and legs too tightly, the doll should remain soft - pleasant to the touch. Everything should be elastic, bend, and not break and swell with tubercles.

We transfer the head pattern folded in half to the flannel, cut it off, cut it out. We attach the neck of the puppet body to the lower edge of the head, put 2 marks with a pencil, marking its width. We sew the details of the head without going beyond these marks, we slightly tighten the threads to make it easier to give the head the shape of a ball. We turn the part out and stuff it very tightly.

To designate the nose, make it convex, tear off a piece of padding polyester, make 3 tight knots on it and put it under the fabric, in place of the nose. We embroider the eyes with black threads and sew the head to the body by hand.

Before attaching the arms, we will make small ruffles from lace and braid in place of the armholes of our non-removable denim bodysuit. We measure 10 cm of the finish, sew it on a typewriter, pick it up, pulling the threads from both ends. Hand sew the lace to the inside of the arm. We sew the same lace on the neck.

To attach the limbs to the body, we need: 4 buttons, a long needle (so that it can be threaded through the body from shoulder to shoulder) and a thread in 4 additions. The nodules should be placed under the armpit and from the inside of the thigh. The threads are a little tight, so that the arms and legs do not sag, but the body is not deformed either.

The hair of our plump woman is stitches and tassels of bright threads. We added bright buttons and a ribbon skirt. You can sew a puppet sundress, beret, shoes yourself.

You can sew a doll in one evening from materials that you already have at home, buying only flannel and stuffing. You may want to make more realistic hair, this is also worth thinking about in advance.

This is an interesting and fun project that will result in an adorable felt craft. It comes with a template that will greatly simplify your work.

This amazing doll is an amazing gift idea for a little girl. She looks so cute! Do you want to create it right now?

What you will need:

  • 2 sheets of flesh-colored felt;
  • black and white felt;
  • some soft filler;
  • sewing machine;
  • scraps of fabric;
  • double-sided interlining;
  • black permanent marker or embroidery thread and needle (for eyes);
  • oil pastel and cotton swabs;
  • Velcro;
  • template for a doll and clothes (presented below).

Step 1
Print out the template for the body.

Place the paper parts from the template on the felt of the appropriate shade. Trace around and cut out. Make everything in 1 piece.

Step 2
Using a sewing machine, sew the hair and panties to the torso. Embroider eyes with threads of a dark shade or draw them with a black marker.
Take a cotton swab. Rub the tip on a pink oil pastel. Then draw rosy cheeks on your face with this stick.

Place the figure on a second sheet of flesh-colored felt. Fasten them with pins and sew on a typewriter along the contour. This will greatly simplify your work in the future. Be sure to leave a small hole for stuffing to fill.

Add a sufficient amount of soft batting to the hole in all nooks and crannies. To do this, it is convenient to use a long knitting needle.

Sew up the hole. Carefully cut the shape along the contour.
Add cute bows to the sides of your hair. They can be sewn or glued with hot glue. Then they will always be the same. You can also use miniature hairpins and your toy will be different every time.

Step 3
Place the patterns for clothes on pieces of beautiful fabric and circle them around the outline. Cut out.
Patterns for dresses and overalls

Duplicate the patterns on the double-sided interlining and cut out. Place interlining on a piece of white felt, then exactly on top - a dress / jumpsuit and iron everything together with a hot iron. This will secure the fabric to the felt.

Additionally, sew the fabric with felt along the contour.
Sew a collar at the top of the dress, in the middle of which attach a small decoration. Sheathe the bottom of the dress with any beautiful trim (ribbons, lace, organza, etc.)
Do the same with your jumpsuit. Sew a pocket on the top of it. Decorate the straps with buttons. The more decorative elements you add, the more beautiful the clothes will turn out.
Once all the elements have been added, trim the felt around the edges. On the wrong side, attach small Velcro.

Well, now you know how to make a beautiful felt doll. This is a really fun project with lots of room for creative expression.

How to make a chenille wire and yarn doll

No sewing required to create this adorable fairy!

Necessary materials:

  • 1 wooden ball with a diameter of 4 cm with a hole in the center;
  • chenille wire 29 cm - 2 pieces;
  • a small skein of wool yarn;
  • 3 skeletonized sheets;
  • 1 wet wipe (pre-dried);
  • decorative wings;
  • a thin beige ribbon or 4 ready-made satin ribbon roses;
  • gouache black and white;
  • hot glue gun and rods;
  • brushes;
  • scissors;
  • a piece of cardboard measuring 12.5 cm x 10 cm.

Step 1: make hair
Wrap the yarn around the cardboard lengthwise about 30 times.

Cut the threads on one side and open them. Remove cardboard.

Bend one fluffy wire in half.

Insert it into the hole of the wooden bead.

Center the yarn inside the wire.

Pull it back through the hole.

Step 2: make the body
Fold the second chenille wire in half.

Wrap it around the doll's neck. Bend the wire in half again and twist. This is how you create the hands. Wrap the body in a circle halfway. Fold the bottom of each side slightly forward to form the legs.

Then wrap the wire completely with yarn. Starting from the neck, move down the body. When finished with the middle, wrap each leg.

After that, go back up and walk over the body again. Finally, cover your hands. When you're done, cut the threads. Gently glue their ends to the figure.

Holding the homemade by the hair, paint the wooden ball with white gouache. Apply paint in 2 coats. Before adding the next layer, make sure that the previous one is dry.

Step 3: Add Decorative Elements
Cut two identical pieces of lace.
Wrap the first piece around your shoulders and upper body. Secure the fabric with hot glue on the back of the craft. Repeat for the second piece of lace.

From a dried, damp cloth, cut out 3 shapes along the contour of the skeletonized leaves.
Take 3 skeletonized and 3 napkin leaves.

Glue them on the waist in a circle, alternating the above materials.

Cut out another piece of lace. Glue it around the waist, pinning the ends at the back.

Turn the chrysalis over and attach the wings to her back.

Lubricate the back of the head with glue and style your hair beautifully.

Glue 4 small roses along the hairline. You can use flowers ready-made or make them yourself from a thin 0.3 cm satin ribbon. They are created very easily.

Using a thin brush, put on the face 2 black dots in the form of eyes.
Leave for a while until the craft dries.
Fairy completed. If you want to hang it on a Christmas tree, tie two hairs together and form a loop.

By changing the yarn and materials used, you can make a wide variety of fairies.

How to make a sock doll

This fun craft is hand-sewn from just one pair of socks!

Materials and tools:

  • 1 white sock;
  • 1 knee sock (gaiters);
  • white threads;
  • threads to match the gaiter;
  • any yarn;
  • filler for toys;
  • scissors;
  • sewing needles with a large eye (embroidery);
  • a piece of cardboard 16.5 cm x 10 cm.

Step 1
Cut the white sock into two pieces as shown in the picture below. You will only work with the lower part of it.

Turn the sock inside out. Place it with the front finger section in front of you. Using a fabric marker or tailor's pencil, mark 2 arched legs as shown in the image below.

Sew by hand with a needle back stitch over the marked area. Leave a small area between the legs unsewn. This will be the area to turn the sock right side out and fill with padding.

Trim excess material around the outlines.

Turn the sock right side out.

Step 2
Fill the craft with soft filler.

Using overlock stitch, sew up the area between the legs.
Departing from the top by about a third, tie a long thread loosely around the product. This will create a separation between head and body.

Take the second sock. Wrap the upper part of it slightly in the form of a scarf. Next, attach it to the neck and equalize with the length of the body.

Trim just below the start of the legs. Put the sock on your body.

Step 3
Place the rest of the sock on the figurine's head and cut off. From this piece you will make a hat. Make sure you have enough material to make a fold at its base.
Using a running stitch, gather the top of the hat together. Fasten it securely.

Turn the hat inside out and set it aside for now.

Step 4
Wrap the yarn 45 times around a piece of cardboard measuring 16.5 cm x 10 cm. Cut it on one side. You will receive threads with a length of 33 cm.

Fix the segments in the middle with a strong knot.
On both sides of the knot, braid pretty pigtails. Tie the ends of the braids with bows, which are made from a thin piece of gaiter.

When you're done, trim the braids as close to the knot as possible. Set them aside for now.

Using a thread that matches the color of the sock, sew a few stitches along the body. This will create a semblance of pens threaded into pockets. Start just below the neck, 2.5 cm from the sides. Sew 6 cm along the body on both sides.

At this point, if you have leftover material, you can add layers to the dress. To do this, simply cut off small pieces and put on clothes from the bottom up.

Step 5
Sew pigtails on the head on both sides.

Put on a hat. Make cute twists on it. Sew on.
From a floss in 6 threads of black color, embroider beautiful eyes. At this stage, you can make the eyes your own way, add a mouth or tongue.

A cute sock toy is ready!
And here you can watch a video on making this craft.

wooden spoon doll

These wooden spoon crafts look very cute! And they are so easy to create!

Materials and tools:

  • wooden spoons;
  • yarn for making hair;
  • button, flower, hair accessories (optional);
  • thin markers in black and red;
  • square pieces of fabric;
  • small pompoms;
  • hot glue gun;
  • scissors.

Step 1: make hair
Take a spoon and a skein of yarn. Start winding the threads along the top of the spoon on the face and inside out on the right side. Fix the coils immediately with hot glue. Continue winding the yarn until you have covered the entire top of the spoon with it. When you're done with the right side, do the same for the left side of the spoon.

To form a bun, glue the end of the yarn to the center of the spoon on the back of it. Next, wind the threads in a circle, forming the first circle of the bundle. When it is large enough to cover the back of your head, move the thread slightly towards the center. Over the first circle, wind another one, but smaller. On the side of the hair on the front side, attach a beautiful bead or flower.

Step 2: draw the face
Using a red and black marker, draw a pretty face. We recommend doing this after you create the hair. This way you will know exactly where to place the eyes, nose and mouth.

Step 3: make the dress
Take a square piece of fabric of the desired length. Cut a wide U-shaped cutout at the bottom of any corner.
Fold the resulting triangle in half right side up. Attach the dress to the craft using hot glue.
Decorate the collar with a pom-pom, button or small flower.

Voila! Your little wooden spoon doll is ready!

We hope you liked our collection of master classes, and now you know exactly how to make a doll from improvised materials at home. You can also watch the following videos on making these crafts with your own hands.

Today I want to talk about how to make a doll with your own hands. I’ll tell you about soft fabric dolls - even a child is able to cope with the manufacture of such a toy, and the result looks simply charming.

What are dolls and how do they differ

What are textile dolls? There are cloth dolls for a long time, at first they were of a ritual nature, then they became amulets, and finally they moved into the category of interior decorations and children's toys.

You can divide the pupae according to the style of manufacture:

  • sewn dolls;
  • motanki.
You can also divide the pupae according to the shape of the body:
  • sedentary;
  • standing;
  • recumbent (they have a soft body, it is difficult to seat them).
And of course, the pupae can be divided according to their appearance - I will talk about this later, so as not to write one by one.

Different variants

How to make a rag doll with your own hands? There are a variety of DIY rag dolls, but in general you need to stock up:
  • fabric for making the body, face and limbs of the pupa - it can be fabric, yarn, nylon and even paper (some make the head of the doll from papier-mâché, and the body from fabric);
  • stuffing material (cereals, foam rubber, cotton wool, fabric scraps, polystyrene foam in balls or holofiber);
  • yarn or thread for making hairstyles;
  • beads, special eyes;
  • needles and threads;
  • knitting supplies (you will need doll clothes, and it is very easy to knit them);
  • cardboard, artificial and natural leather, various elements for making accessories for dolls.

Tilda and varieties

Tilda is the most famous soft doll, and most often they are made by beginners. These dolls were designed by a girl from Norway, Tone Finnanger. These are long simple dolls, they have simple faces - pink cheeks, beady eyes. A whole industry has developed around this doll, making animals and accessories. There are many books and master classes on how to sew a doll with your own hands. See how beautiful Tildas are, and how you can make bunnies and cubs in this style.

By the way, if you need a pattern for a doll in this style, then there is nothing easier - here are a few patterns that are suitable for creating from fabric.

Snowballs

And how to make a doll out of fabric so that it is standing? For this, Snowballs were invented, snow dolls - they have large legs, and due to the special stuffing scheme, such a doll turns out to be very stable. When making Snowballs, you will need the correct pattern for the doll, because otherwise the doll simply will not “get up”. By the way, visually Snowballs are similar to Tild - they have similar facial features, and the chrysalis is simplified to the point of impossibility.

Pumpkins

Pumpkinhead toys are somewhat reminiscent of Pumpkinhead Jack from the popular cartoon for adults. They were invented by Lena Kogan, and Pumpkins differ from all other dolls in the original construction of the head - it is sewn from several wedges, and a seam passes through the face of the doll. By the way, these dolls have original faces - they have wide-set eyes, but in general, facial features are more accurately worked out compared to Tilda and Snowballs.

Look how craftswomen make dolls with their own hands in the photo:

Attic toys

Simple dolls in the manner of the Scarecrow from the fairy tale about the Wizard of Oz - they are made literally from everything that was lying around in the closet or in the attic. Modern attic toys are made with the effect of aging, many even use vintage fabrics and buttons. A distinctive feature of such a toy is the author's pattern of the doll.

There is no single standard - these toys were sewn by the first settlers in America, and they made them, we admit honestly, as God puts on our souls. Lost a pattern of a textile doll? Estimate by eye, and make an attic toy - they are cute and charming, and giving them a twist is easy - use tinting and do not process the edges.

Charms and motanki

Slavic dolls are now very, very popular. Firstly, people are pleased to have their own concept as an answer to fashionable Western Tildas (which, of course, are very beautiful, but it's hard to imagine Tilda in a kokoshnik, isn't it?). Secondly, the cultural code is also included here. A Russian person may not digest Khokhloma and Zhostovo painting, deny Pushkin and not know how a motanka is made, but at the sight of an ordinary nesting doll, his heart skips a beat. Because everyone in childhood had a matryoshka or motanka.

Slavic dolls served as talismans for the home and women at different stages of her life, and they were also used as symbols. Cabbage - a beauty that symbolized the presence of a marriageable girl in the house, Rozhanitsa - usually a buxom beauty - promised a young mother a lot of milk.

And also here is another master class on making yarn dolls.

Waldorf toys stand on a separate step in all this splendor of the puppet industry. This is not just a toy, but a kind of teaching aid. The main differences between this toy and others:

  • natural proportions (naturally, the size of the doll will be small, but it will be made proportionally so that the child can understand how a person will look like at different ages in full size);
  • the face is simplified, but without exaggeration;
  • natural materials are used, and colors are close to natural.

Interesting analogues of fashionable at all times Barbie and Cindy - but from textiles! Trypiens came to us from Korea, and I can say that making dolls with your own hands using this technology requires a lot of perseverance, but the result is a chic interior toy that has its own style and character.

Author's doll

Do you know how to make a paper and fabric doll? First you need to sculpt the head - according to your own sketch, then glue it with strips of paper and remove the papier-mâché shape. After that, you make a body and arms out of fabric, do not forget to pay attention to clothes and accessories, and in the end you will get your own designer doll. Interesting, right? And even more interesting if you imagine how many of these products can be made!

Let's start manufacturing

Well, am I interested in you? Let's try to make dolls with our own hands?

The easiest way is to make a toy from a sock. You don’t need a doll pattern, just cut the sock into two parts - you can cut out arms and legs from the bootleg, and from the part that you put on the foot you will get a body and a head. Stuff the main part with padding polyester or cotton wool, and wrap it with threads so that you get a head, and then stuff and sew up the body. From the remaining part, you need to cut out the legs and handles, and then sew up the parts and turn them out. For volume, you can add a little synthetic winterizer (it is convenient to put the synthetic winterizer inside the narrow handle or leg with the back of the pencil). Draw a face and make her hair from a bunch of threads - your beginner toy is ready!

DIY sock doll:

Want a little harder? Let's try to make a doll from kapron.

We make do-it-yourself dolls from tights step by step instructions

What you need in order to get a kapron doll:

  • sewing accessories - needles, strong threads of several colors, scissors;
  • nylon - socks, stockings or tights are suitable (instead of tights, the master can also use stockings);
  • cotton wool or synthetic winterizer for stuffing;
  • fabric for making clothes;
  • glue;
  • frame, glass or plastic bottle as a base (if you are interested in a standing doll);
  • ribbons and beads, buttons and jewelry.
A stocking doll can be both simple and complex. I will tell you how to make a simple doll from nylon tights. My guide is designed for beginners, so if you have already been involved in the manufacture of such dolls, then you better watch more complex workshops.
  1. First you need to form all parts of the body from nylon with your own hands. There is no pattern here, so we just sew approximately the same hands, make legs, head and torso.
  2. Then we start stuffing. You made separate elements from tights with your own hands, and now they need to be filled with padding polyester. Make sure that the capron is evenly stretched so that the chrysalis looks homogeneous.
  3. Connect the head to the body and work out the face - the easiest way is to make through stitches from the corner of the mouth to the eye - dimples will appear in the place where the thread comes to the surface. Repeat this operation on both sides, and then sew on the eyes. Form the nose.
  4. Make fingers - a few stitches are enough for this. By the way, do not repeat my mistake - the doll should have a right and a left handle, and not two left ones with the thought "no one will notice anyway."
  5. Collect the wig - for this you need to collect the yarn and sew it in the middle. Loose ends can be laid in pigtails or ponytails. The seam should fall on the top of the doll, it will play the role of a parting.
  6. Paint your face.
  7. Make clothes for the new toy, use glue and pins if necessary, but try to make the doll as safe and durable as possible.
  8. Dress up your product and give a name. So you breathe life into the toy.

Of course, each needlewoman will sew her own doll, even if all of them will be made according to the same drawing - we use different materials and pay attention to different details. But why do we still need schemes? For example, in the case of Pumpkinhead pupae - in order to comply with the technology.

Types of dolls for home decoration

There are five types of textile dolls that are created by needlewomen to decorate home interiors:

  • Doll in the tradition of anime. These dolls are made in the style of Asian cartoon characters. As a rule, their head is larger than the body, legs and arms are miniature in size. The creator of anime dolls is an artist from Scotland - Susan Woolcott.
  • Doll with a pumpkin head. Distinctive features of such a doll are the head, which is shaped like a pumpkin, a convex chin and nose.
  • Tilda doll. One of the most popular types of interior dolls. Everyone has seen Tilda at least once in their life. The proportions of her body are knocked out of the usual ideas, she has long thin legs and arms, an elongated head, which, as it were, serves as an extension of the neck. Tilda has no mouth, but has beady eyes and rosy cheeks. interior doll
  • Korean Barbie. Such dolls have a beautiful body shape. Their luxurious image in an elegant outfit is always accompanied by accessories in the form of handbags, umbrellas, hats. The faces of these Korean beauties are created by craftsmen using acrylic paints.
  • Doll Snowball. Doll from Russian designer Tatyana Konne. Characteristic features of Snowball are massive feet on which the doll can stand without support, as well as eyes made of beads. Creating shoes and clothes for such a doll is a separate art form.

Pattern of a textile doll

A great advantage when creating an interior doll will be the knowledge of basic cutting skills, in this case, you can create your own patterns. If there is no such experience, then this is not a problem at all, because any business can be learned. Beginning needlewomen can take samples from the network or specialized magazines. interior doll

For the manufacture of textile dolls, natural elastic fabrics are used. As a rule, knitted fiber. It is possible to use synthetics, for example, nylon. Fill the doll with sintepon. Before starting the pattern, it is necessary to give the fabric the proper look. First, it is ironed to get rid of bruises, and then the contours of future parts are applied using a special marker.

patterns

Making interior dolls is within the power of all beginners. From the first time it is possible to sew a full-fledged doll, albeit with errors and flaws. In the network resources you can find a number of master classes and training videos on this topic. Let's take a quick look at what steps and in what sequence to take when sewing a doll:

  1. The fabric with patterns is folded in half, and then sewn on the sewing machine along the contours of the details that were drawn with a marker or chalk on this fabric. After the details are stitched, they are cut out and turned inside out. In order for them to take on a clear shape along the stitched contours, they must be ironed.
  2. After that, the parts are stuffed with filler and sewn together. The stitching of the details takes place with the help of a manual blind seam, this is a very painstaking work.
  3. The last, creative stage of work. On it, the doll is decorated, acquires eyes, pink cheeks, hair, clothes. To create an outfit for a doll, you can look at the master classes presented on the network. The most difficult decorative detail is the hair. They are made by hand from threads, wool, artificial or natural curls.

Such a gift as an interior doll will always be of great value, since the most scarce resource in our world is time, and a gift that you spend your time creating, filling it with creative energy and love, is an expression of your special relationship to another person. . interior doll

But for some reason, children are always drawn to dolls or animals made with their own hands from knitwear or fur. What is it that attracts them so much? Such a doll can be sewn independently, at home, together with the child.

How to sew a doll yourself?

Modern needlewomen have the opportunity and special material for making dolls. This includes special knitwear, fillers, accessories for eyes, eyelashes, hair from yarn and thread, ready-made wigs. Shops for needlewomen provide everything necessary for creativity. Therefore, many try to sew on their own. Making such a doll with your own hands (some of the patterns are available in this article) is an interesting activity that often becomes an exciting hobby.

You can do sewing without going to the store:

  • it is enough to choose a flesh-colored knitted T-shirt;
  • a little synthetic winterizer;
  • a couple of beads;
  • threads and needles for sewing;
  • yarn for hair;
  • pattern.

simple doll

A primitive rag doll-amulet was sewn by our grandmothers and great-grandmothers. Children love them for the warmth and comfort that these toys give them. Not a single factory doll, even a very beautiful one, will become the toy with which the child will sleep for a long time. Children are guided by sensations: in a dream they touch the doll, and it is plastic, cold. There is an association not with a doll, but with a car or a bucket. And this is wrong. Therefore, the doll should be warm, soft and cozy.

Without thinking twice, you can independently make a pattern for sewing. While the child is sleeping, the contour of the torso, head, arms, legs is quickly drawn. Everything is transferred to knitted fabric. Be sure to leave a seam allowance - 5 mm. All this is stuffed with padding polyester - 80% of the product is ready. You should think about who it will be: a girl or a boy?

The clothes, the length of the hair, and the expression on the face depend on this. Having decided, you should mark the eyes, mouth, nose on the face. The simplest thing is to embroider everything. You can use beads or buttons to make out the eyes. But if the child is very small, then there is a danger that he can tear off or bite off and swallow the bead. Therefore, everything is embroidered. Hair is made from yarn: threads are wound on a cardboard of the desired length, sewn in the middle with a “forward needle” seam. On the reverse side - cut and the wig is ready. It should be sewn, trimmed and braided with ribbons. Having figured out how to sew a doll, you need to think about clothes for her.

Clothes for dolls

If a woman knows how to knit a little, then this is the best option for making clothes for dolls. Knitters always have a lot of balls of multi-colored yarn left - it's time to put them into action. You can make a blouse and a skirt. Or overalls and booties from the remnants of yarn. A dress made from a piece of calico will also look beautiful. The cut can be made simple, one-piece. Decorate with lace, braid, ribbons.

Great importance should be attached to the color scheme, select fabrics of the same texture. It is desirable that clothes can be taken off and put on. This develops a skill in the child, the desire to dress himself properly.

Patterns of other types of dolls

All fabric doll patterns should be transferred to material that can be used more than once. For this, a film or transparent tracing paper is suitable. Thus, the pattern for sewing a Waldorf doll should also be transferred. This type of toy appeared at the beginning of the twentieth century. In Germany, the first schools were organized in which teaching was conducted according to a special program. Toys were made by hand from natural materials: wood, cotton fabrics, pure camel or sheep wool.

It is the manufacture of rag dolls according to the Waldorf model that has gained wide popularity in the world. This is an ordinary toy made of fabric, which is made according to a pattern, but only from special knitwear. Feature - in the manufacture of the head.

Head decoration

For these dolls, a small ball of threads with a diameter of 5-6 cm is taken. Natural wool strips are folded in the form of rays, in the middle of which a ball is inserted. This is how a ball is obtained, on which an elastic bandage or knitted sock is pulled.

At the base it is pulled together with strong threads - it turns out the head. It is pulled with threads vertically and horizontally in such a way that it is shaped like a child's head. A place is chosen for the nose and a small bead or ball rolled from wool is fixed. And only now the upper puppet jersey is pulled on. Eyes are already marked on it, a mouth is embroidered.

The Waldorf rag doll is sewn for a short time: it takes the most time to make the head, and most importantly, the hair from the threads. To do this, take a skein of yarn and crochet a small hat. It should be tight to the head and match the hairline. Then it is sewn around the perimeter to the head and pre-cut identical pieces of yarn are already tied to it. This process is long, but the hair turns out great.

Another way is to embroider the entire surface of the head with a stitch. And then sew on threads of the same length. This way of designing hairstyles allows you to comb your hair, braid pigtails or make ponytails.

Assembly of the torso

The head should have a certain shape. Hands are sewn to the bottom of it and are well fixed. For a fabric doll pattern, the lower part looks like a jumpsuit. The legs and torso are stuffed with wool and sewn around the neck and arms. The lack of wool is supplemented through the side holes - sleeves, and then sewn up. Fingers are stitched on the legs and handles. But if this is not done, it will not be worse: both options are acceptable.

Now you can start sewing clothes and decorating the face. Clothes can be knitted, as in the previous version. The Waldorf doll turns out to be very soft, without a rigid frame and absolutely not dangerous for the child.

Tilda dolls

Many needlewomen who start with large dolls gradually move on to finer work: they try to sew Tilda dolls. Patterns for them can always be found in specialized literature. This toy was created by Norwegian artist Toni Finanger. She invented and released cats, bears, bunnies: they are all made in the same style. But not every pattern produces what is intended. How to sew a doll that has such thin arms and legs? Yes, it's not that easy.

But the difficulty lies not in tailoring, but in stuffing it. Wool is poorly stuffed into such narrow details - it lies unevenly. “Cellulite” appears on the arms and legs: lumps of six are visible on the surface.

But first you need to cut out all the details and stitch them. Then, using a pencil, gradually fill them. You should not take too large balls of wool so that the surface of the knitwear is smooth. All details are collected. A wig is being made for Tilda. For such a do-it-yourself doll, hair can be made from yarn or wool. Threads are wound on cardboard of the desired width. On the one hand, they are stitched, and on the other, they are cut and sewn to the head.

doll face

In the classic version, the Tilda doll has no nose, mouth, or ears. Beads are sewn on her - eyes, make a blush - and that's it. The hairstyle is a special part, a detail. Her hair should be just "chic". You can, of course, embroider eyebrows and mouth. But you can not do this. This is the beauty of the Tilda doll.

And they make different clothes for them. For a doll with your own hands, you can make any patterns of clothes, it's not at all difficult. Beautiful dresses, robes, pajamas, hats and even shoes - all needlewomen make themselves. It is very easy to dress a ballerina doll.

Tilda - ballerina

A ballerina dress consists of only two parts - a skirt and a gathered ruffle ribbon for the top. From a thin fabric, nylon, for example, a ribbon is cut, 40 cm long and 10 cm wide. It is sewn together and gathered on a thread along a wide edge. The assembled part is sewn to the body like a skirt. Another piece of tape, 2 cm wide, is assembled on a thread along the entire length, in the middle. Draped and sewn from shoulder to shoulder. This design makes the doll airy, light and looks like a ballerina. Accuracy in manufacturing plays a special role: threads should not hang anywhere, the edge is beautifully processed.

In fact, having learned how to sew a doll, everyone understands that it is not too difficult to do this. And with a certain skill - and quite simply. And you can do this hobby with your children. Such communication brings parents and children closer together, promotes mutual understanding, develops fine motor skills and imagination. Many sew characteristic dolls (even pregnant or very full ones). The way people can be in real life. Together they come up with outfits for them, sew and dress them.
