DIY wireless panic button. Panic button mobile and stationary - installation rules, maintenance and cost

Leonid Bereshchansky

Leonid and I used to often ride bicycles in Moscow at night in the summer. I remember that it was already two or three o'clock in the morning, we were sitting on a bench near the Luzhniki Stadium and discussing how we would make such an alarm button in the form of a ring. Usually a huge number of people constantly share some of their ideas with me: I listen to them half-heartedly, somehow react, comment, give my criticism. But this story attracted me, firstly, by its scale, and secondly, I immediately saw how this could be done and conveyed to the audience.

Nikita Marshansky

Work on the product

Leonid: Then we started looking for information about how our project can be useful to people. For several months we studied crime statistics and conducted our own research. We interviewed more than 2 thousand people, asked them questions about how safe they feel, how much they worry about themselves and their loved ones, how they protect themselves from possible misfortunes. Conducted about 200 face-to-face qualitative studies, conducted in-depth interviews with people in the US and Russia. Of course, we have found that official statistics are always very different from the real picture.

Nikita: True, when the project was just starting, we thought about protecting women and children in the first place. And all the data was studied only for this category of crimes. But over time, it became clear that the functionality of the ring is much wider. For example, people with disabilities are also at risk. There are panic buttons for them, but, for example, some of them work only within a radius of the house, while others, although autonomous, are simply ugly and inconvenient.

Leonid: Another segment is employees of banks, convenience stores, gas stations, all of them, as a rule, have a panic button, and it is located under the counter. And when a robber runs in with a weapon, he knows perfectly well that such a button exists and where it is located. Therefore, the first thing he says when pointing a gun is "hands up." And the person can no longer reach out and press the button. And thanks to the ring, he can send an alarm signal without attracting the attention of the criminal and keeping his hands behind his head. This format was chosen for this reason - you can send an alarm with one movement of the finger of one hand. Even if your hands are somehow constrained or held. If we are talking about health problems, such as a stroke, then it happens that people are paralyzed not completely, but in parts. And, as a rule, a person can always make one movement with his finger.

We decided that we will track the location of a person only after pressing the button. This is not a tracking device and It can't be used to track people.

How it works

Leonid: With the help of an application that needs to be installed on a smartphone, the owner forms safety circles, that is, a list of those who will receive a signal in case of danger. The first is close people (friends and family). The user enters their mobile numbers into the application, and in case of an emergency, such a trusted person will receive a push notification, SMS and e-mail. If that person does not have an application or, say, he does not even have a smartphone, then he will receive an SMS with a link to which he can go and read all the information about the alarm.

The second circle is the rescue services such as the police or ambulance. Already now we are starting to negotiate with them in order to work directly. But in any country these structures are bureaucratized, and negotiations with them take several months. So now, at the press of a button, a robotic call is generated that contacts the nearest emergency department, pronounces the user's last name and first name, address, and reports that he is in trouble.

Nikita: And finally, the third circle is the community system. Among them, there are those who installed the application and agreed to come to the rescue if someone presses a button within a radius of 200 meters from them. They will receive a message that a person needs help just around the corner. And such a person can be the first to help. We do not force anyone to do this and, on the contrary, we warn in every possible way, urge you to be careful and first call the police. But in the vast majority of emergency cases, the appearance of at least one witness is enough for the situation to change dramatically. The second option for working with the community is a tag system, when the person who installed the application puts tags and will receive messages in accordance with them. All this is due to what we found out - people who are united by the same interests are much more willing to help each other. For example, it can be motorcyclists or people who have received one education.

Leonid: The most important thing in the alarm card is the chat. And people who respond to the signal can communicate with each other and discuss their actions in it. In addition, they see each other on the map and track all the movements of the person who needs help. This only happens after the button is pressed. Until the alarm is sent, no user data is available to anyone.

Promotion

Nikita: So, in June we launched a Kickstarter campaign with Katya's story. Of course, we hoped that it would be successful, but we did not imagine that in just seventeen and a half hours we would be able to collect the entire amount - 50 thousand dollars - in full. And now there are more than 160 thousand dollars in the account. We were supported by almost 1,500 people, and this is already such a test both by people and by the ruble. 70% of those who pre-ordered the ring are residents of the United States, the next largest country is Russia (15%), and the rest is the whole world. What countries were not there: Vietnam, Thailand, and Brazil.

Leonid: The entire process of developing the device was accompanied by consultations with a number of factories in China. Now we understand which factories we can go to, and we choose from them. And the logistics will also be determined. Because there is an option that we do everything in one factory, but there is an option when we distribute: we make the case in one place, printed circuit boards in another, assembly in a third. So far, we have not made a final decision, but we have an understanding.

There were no problems in terms of choosing factories. The development team has experience in the production of electronic devices - they already had connections with factories in China and with partners who are located in Israel. In general, there is a narrow community around hardware development in Russia and on Kickstarter, everyone knows and helps each other. Including we were helped by people who went a little further along our path.

Nikita: From March next year, we plan to sell the ring through the site and go to offline distribution. We have a huge number of requests from distributors, but so far we have not interacted closely with them. I can say that there are already requests from England, Peru, Brazil, India and China. So far, distributors have not written from Russia, but it’s easier for us here, because we are local.

Leonid: The main thing for us at this stage is to develop a system of mutual assistance and create a community where people will help each other in case of emergency. In the future, we plan to release both bracelets and key rings. Most importantly, we want to license our system and sell it to other manufacturers of wearable electronics. For example, there is a fitness tracker with a button on it, and we go to this fitness tracker and agree on cooperation. And so we want to build a community that will help each other. The signal can be sent not only from our ring. By the way, now you can send it from the application, absolutely free.

Panic button for the elderly

From this article you will learn:

What does a panic button look like for the elderly

Who is entitled to a free alarm bracelet for the elderly

Where and how much to buy a panic button for an elderly person

How to make such an alarm button yourself

Russia has approximately 40 million elderly people and approximately 13 million people with disabilities. These are elderly people, often with disabilities and various serious diseases. Elderly people should definitely have a chance to call for emergency help. Such tasks are carried out thanks to panic buttons for the elderly or alarm bracelets for the elderly.

Free panic button for the elderly and other "lifeguard" gadgets

In Moscow, it is planned to equip the elderly and disabled with a simple technical device called a panic button. Prior to this, the “panic button” service was provided only to war veterans left without the care of relatives. Externally, the “panic button” device does not differ from a conventional mobile phone. Pressing one of the buttons on this device will immediately connect an elderly person with the dispatchers of the capital's House of Veterans. The competence of the dispatcher includes making an independent decision which service to call - a fire brigade, an ambulance, a police outfit, etc. Some of these tools give a loud sound signal to attract people's attention.

In the future, the idea of a “panic button” for the elderly was improved, transforming into a “panic bracelet”, reminiscent of a wristwatch, but somewhat larger. The alarm bracelet has great potential. The dispatcher monitors the elderly person in real time. Using the latest techniques, the signal from the alarm bracelet is displayed on an electronic scoreboard, making it easy to calculate the exact place to send the appropriate service in case of emergency.

Surnames, addresses, diagnoses, phone numbers of neighbors or relatives can be displayed on the screen of the dispatch service. Alarm bracelets are equipped with sensors that transmit body temperature, pressure and pulse. In the event of a fall of an elderly person, the fall sensor will work, and the dispatcher will know the exact location of the incident. The dispatcher must immediately contact the elderly person. If the elderly person does not answer, the dispatcher must call for emergency medical assistance. The alarm bracelet is also equipped with a sensor that will work if the strap is unfastened.

In the Moscow region, similar innovative technologies are being introduced to install Arkan personal rapid response devices that provide protection for the elderly and the disabled. Reutov, Istrinsky, Klinsky and Stupinsky municipal districts successfully use devices of this kind for the elderly.

The system provides round-the-clock monitoring of the health and protection of an elderly person, if necessary, promptly calling an ambulance. It should be noted that this device is provided to the elderly free of charge, thanks to the funds allocated by the regional budget. The device "Arkan" consists of a complex of technical equipment placed in the house of an elderly person or a disabled person.

The system is equipped with electrical equipment, radio equipment, signaling and starting security devices: control panels, an additional battery, blocks that transmit information, sensors that respond to door openings, an “alarm bracelet” with an emergency button. This button gives an alarm signal to the operator in the district social service.

Panic button for the elderly: where and how to get

In 2011, Moscow and St. Petersburg began to participate in the Panic Button social project. Within the framework of this project, the elderly residents of these cities, who have benefits, received the privilege to be served free of charge by the Panic Button system. The service is provided by the district Complex centers of social services. residential services for the elderly.

To receive an alarm bracelet with an emergency button, an elderly person needs to call the social service center at the place of residence, having prepared the following documents:

  • health insurance policy;

    certificate of participant or invalid of the Great Patriotic War;

    pensioner's ID;

    certificate of disability (if available).

Sometimes you will need a medical certificate stating that the provision of the “panic button” service is not contraindicated for an elderly person.

In the case when an elderly person cannot collect all the necessary certificates himself, he will need to use the help of his legal representative by issuing a power of attorney certified by a notary.

Elderly Muscovites who have benefits are given an “alarm bracelet” free of charge thanks to budgetary funds. The rest of those who wish can connect to the surveillance systems for a fee. The population often requests this service, as a result of which many organizations and firms have begun to provide the elderly with their own surveillance systems.

Panic button for the elderly: the price of a "life button"

In the West, cellular medical tracking services have been successfully operating for 30 years. The Russian Federation started promoting such projects not so long ago, but these projects turned out to be in great demand. Thanks to the Life Button project, which turned out to be the first ambulance call system in Russia for the elderly and disabled, more than one life was saved.

The Life Button project was recognized as one of the 3 best startups of 2011 according to Forbes. In July, RINTECH, a member of IT Group, signed an investment agreement with the Life Button program. The project received investments in the amount of 35 million rubles. The creators of the Life Button project are planning to launch a new product on the market - a life button for children.

The Life Button device has two models. The first model is intended for active people. The model looks like a phone with large buttons and a clear menu, equipped with an SOS key. It will be easy to deal with the device for any elderly person. By pressing the “saving button”, an alarm signal will immediately go to the Help Center, in which a group of doctors and psychologists are on duty around the clock. According to the alarm signal of the device, the coordinates of an elderly person are determined for the direction of assistance.

The second model is designed for sedentary people. The model has the form of a waterproof bracelet, which has an integrated SOS button and a fall sensor. Pressing the SOS panic button or an alarm signal from the fall sensor immediately goes to the Help Center. Automatic speakerphone enables the duty specialist to determine the degree of risk and, if necessary, call the elderly person for help.

It is noteworthy that all the necessary data about the owner of the "panic button" is already contained in the system's memory. Having received an alarm signal, the specialist will call relatives or neighbors, whose phones the elderly person provided earlier, and also notify the ambulance doctor about important information on diseases or an allergic reaction to certain medications.

Alas, not all Russian pensioners can purchase the Life Button. The device "Life Button for Active" costs 4730 rubles, subscription service will cost 580 rubles. monthly. The “Life Button for Sedentary” device costs 9,990 rubles, subscription service will cost 990 rubles. monthly. You can buy the Life Button device, for example, in MTS stores.

If buying a panic button for the elderly is expensive for you ...

In this case, the button can be made by hand! You will need several Master Kit models. To make a panic button, stock up on three MP910 key fobs operating in the 433 MHz band.

Such transmitters need an appropriate receiver. One channel is enough to respond to a panic button. We use MP911 - a receiver for a 433 MHz remote control, operating in the "button" mode.

And in order to send a message and a call, use the MA3401 module - an autonomous GSM-SMS alarm system. This module has the advantage that it remembers 6 numbers. The device reports the loss of light in the room, calculates the air temperature in the room and has some other useful features.

After purchasing all the necessary parts, find the right box for the case.

The GSM-module is powered by a lithium-ion battery, which is recharged from 5V, received from the mini-USB connector. Therefore, the MP911 receiver, designed for power from 12V, remake for power from 5V. To do this, you will need to replace the 12 Volt relay installed on the module with a 5 Volt relay and let 5V from the MA3401 go straight to the receiver decoder chip.

To avoid interference, carefully short the relay contacts in the receiver and make a neat connection to the inlet of the Button MA3401. When the relay contacts are disconnected, the response of the GSM module will be observed.

The following photos show the 5V power supply to the decoder receiver.

To place the modules in the case (or to make the regular buttons in the key fobs more visible red and rough), we recommend using one of the best friends of homemade craftsmen - a 3D printer. Let's take the printer-constructor from the Master Kit MC2. Let's draw and print racks for the case box and buttons.

Here is a device that will come out after assembly:

The remote control in the next photo (it is placed in the center) is intentionally left unfinished so that you can see the difference.

In the following video, you can see how to make a panic button for the elderly at home:

What could be better than a panic button for the elderly

In cases where panic buttons for the elderly are prohibitively expensive, the problem of the safety of the elderly can be solved in other ways, which closely monitor the movements of pensioners and immediately come to their aid when necessary.

The first of these methods is a GPS tracker developed by RusLink (WHERE IS MINE service). The mini beacon helps to determine the movements of the elderly with an accuracy of up to 5 m thanks to location tracking via GPS satellite signals.

GPS trackers immediately inform relatives over the phone when the elderly leave the house, deviate from the familiar route to the house, go beyond the borders of the area of residence, and call for help by pressing the SOS alarm button on the beacon. Such and other notification parameters are configured in Personal Accounts on the website www.gdemoi.ru. In addition, the device reminds you of the timely charging of the battery and reports the absence of feedback for a long time.

You can find out the location of the elderly and view the route of their movement on a regular computer, smartphone using the gdemoi.mobi mobile website or via an SMS command with the word “where”. A detailed electronic map with the indicated streets and house numbers will help in a matter of seconds to determine the location of the pensioner, and, if necessary, come to the rescue.

The GPS tracker has one panic button. At the moment it is pressed, the signal sign will be instantly sent to relatives in the form of an SMS or e-mail message. The text of the message will indicate the time and address where the alarm came from. You can specify any number of relatives for notification.

Basic monitoring services are free. An additional set of services will cost 7 rubles per day. The GPS tracker costs within 6600 rubles. By the way, GPS trackers can be both bought and rented, which costs 200 rubles. per day. However, today such services are available only for residents of Moscow and Yekaterinburg.

A similar service is offered by some mobile operators. For example, MegaFon has developed its own model of the MegaFon C1 phone, which can operate in standby mode for more than 7 days without recharging. The model is equipped with an SOS alarm button, by pressing which automatic SMS will be sent to the programmed numbers. So in an emergency, older people can urgently contact relatives.

Some time ago, the Ministry of Emergency Situations launched a free mobile program "Mobile Rescuer" designed for smartphones on iOS and Android. The application automatically finds out where the elderly person is and determines the nearest emergency services. The program is equipped with an alarm button, pressing which calls the appropriate services and at the same time notifies relatives that their relative needs help.

After downloading the free application, you need to enter the phone numbers of relatives in the list of emergency contacts: pressing the alarm button "Send SOS signal" will give them an automatic signal in the form of SMS messages. In addition, the program includes a section of background information on how to act in an emergency, how to provide first aid to the elderly, which medical facilities and first responders (with their contacts) are closest.

Smartphone app stores offer several other similar apps for iOS and Android devices. For example, let's call the bSafe program, which allows elderly people to send an alarm signal to their relatives in two clicks, who, thanks to this program, have the opportunity to track the movements of their grandparents on GPS, as well as make an imitation of a “fake call” immediately or after a few minutes. This app has a premium feature in the form of a loud siren and one-tap video recording.

Such a SOS-SMS program makes it possible to immediately send SMS and e-mail alerts to pre-registered phones of relatives or security departments. Message texts indicate the location of the elderly pensioner and a voice recorder that starts automatically when the program is activated. Thanks to this, relatives will be aware of what happened to their loved one, and will be able to come to his aid.

To sum up, there are many ways to help older people in an emergency. It remains only to choose the right solution in advance. "Mobile lifeguard" in the pocket has repeatedly provided assistance to the elderly. Such security measures will ensure the protection of your loved one, as a result of which both he and you will become much calmer.

It is especially relevant today, when the level of criminogenic threats is steadily growing.

The panic button is an active protection measure that allows you to call law enforcement officers in a matter of minutes in case of attacks and conflict situations.

This is especially important for persons under protection, as well as for employees of banking institutions, shops, gas stations. Such a small device has saved more than a dozen lives, as well as a huge amount of property.

What is the function of the panic button?

When a dangerous situation arises (threat of use of weapons, seizure of a building), it is difficult for a person to make a decision on his own. A rare seller will rush to protect someone else's property and risk his life in the process.

Such actions are completely unjustified: any work should be done by a professional. It is enough to activate the panic button so that after 2-3 minutes the guards arrive at the object.

They are ready to actively counter the intruder, even if he is armed and in an inadequate condition.

A warning about the presence of such a device can be a deterrent for most violators. Robbery and robbery in Russia are among the most common crimes.

Therefore, protection against them seems to be an urgent task for various business areas. There are constant attempts to rob gas stations, jewelry workshops, banking institutions.

You can equip an apartment, a private house, a government agency with such a device.

Proper location of the panic button

Installing a panic button is a task for professionals, please contact - http://pultovaya-ohrana.ru.

It is necessary not only to correctly position it, but also to protect it from accidental operation, incapacitation. It is worth noting that today buttons can be both stationary and mobile.

Both the first and second options are ideal for various tasks. When carrying out settlement and cash services, stationary buttons located in the zone of immediate reach are more suitable (under the table, counter, by the chair, near the cash register).

If an employee constantly moves around the facility and works with clients, then a portable sensor is more suitable for him.

How many panic buttons do you need at the facility?

Criminals sometimes prepare very carefully for their actions and analyze the situation to the smallest detail. Therefore, it is necessary to foresee any possible threats in order to actively counteract them. The number of devices depends on the scale of the facility and the number of employees.

Ideally, each workplace should be equipped with a button to call security and law enforcement. To resolve this issue, you need to consult with a specialist who can assess the likelihood of certain threats.

Who can install a panic button?

Of course, only a specialized organization that conducts its activities on a professional basis can be entrusted with the work of ensuring security.

In addition to the cable infrastructure and the device, an uninterruptible power supply and 100% equipment availability are required.

In Russia, the installation of such devices is carried out by the Department of Public Order, as well as private organizations.

So, the panic button is not just a security element, but an important barrier to illegal encroachments.

A small device will protect the life and health of people, prevent the development of a conflict situation, detain criminals and bring them to justice.

It so happened that one grandmother over 90 years old remains at home for a long time - my wife and I work, adult children live separately and, of course, also work. It happens that the grandmother feels so unwell that it is very difficult for her to get up, answer the phone and call. A cell phone can also be useless, as it requires some attention and relatively precise manual actions. Neither one nor the other, if you feel unwell, may not be enough. You should also take into account that you may not get through the first time, that the cell phone may not be at hand, that it may run out of battery, etc.

In this regard, I took care to find a solution for the immediate filing of an alarm signal in the most accessible way for an elderly person with the maximum possible coverage of the notification.

The script is like this: the grandmother presses the buttons visible to her, located in the most likely places of her presence, and the cell phones of all relatives involved in the scenario receive a call and an SMS from the “Alarm button” subscriber. Everything should be as simple and reliable as possible and require a minimum of maintenance. You can find devices and even tariffs for such solutions on the Internet, but, frankly, the prices are such that they discourage anyone from using them. So it would be nice to optimize costs. And then, what can compare with the joy of independent creativity in the field of electronics!

Materials used

For the material part, the Master Kit modules were taken.

As buttons, we will choose MP910 key fobs operating at a frequency of 433 MHz - I took 3 pieces.

These transmitters require an appropriate receiver. Since only one channel is needed to respond to a button press, the MP911, a 433 MHz remote control receiver operating in the "button" mode, is used.

And for sending messages and calls, we use the MA3401 module - an autonomous GSM-SMS alarm system. This module is also good because it has a memory for 6 numbers, can report a power failure in the house and the temperature in it, and also has some other useful functions that we will not use yet, but will remember for the future!

Having bought all these devices, I rummaged through my stocks and found a suitable case.

Making a panic button

Since the GSM module is powered by a lithium-ion battery, which is charged from 5V supplied to it via a mini-USB connector, I decided to modify the MP911 receiver module (it is powered by 12V) a bit to power it from 5V. To do this, it is enough to replace the 12-volt relay installed on it with a 5-volt one and apply 5V from the MA3401 directly to the receiver decoder chip.

And we connect the normally closed (so that there is no interference) contacts of the receiver relay to the Button MA3401 input. Then, when the relay contacts open, an event will occur, to which the GSM module will react.

The following photo shows how to apply 5V power to the decoder receiver.

To place the modules in the case, as well as to replace the standard buttons in the key fobs with more noticeable red and rough ones, I used the best friend of the do-it-yourselfer - a 3D printer. I have a printer-designer from Master Kit MC2 with my own modifications. I wrote about them in materials and. I drew and printed racks for the case, and buttons. I got both pleasure and practical use!

This is how it turned out when everything was put together:

The remote control in the next photo in the center left it not specially modified, as it was, so that the difference could be seen.

Grandmother was strictly ordered to hang one button-remote control on her neck and not remove it, the other two she glued to double-sided tape in the apartment.

System testing

Checking the performance of the system:

ps: 1. The unit is powered by the USB connector of the computer (low power consumption thin client), which is always on and is in turn connected to the UPS. The block contains a lithium-ion battery, which is charged when an external power supply is connected. This process is indicated by a flashing LED. In the device itself, you can turn on the SMS notification mode about the loss of external power.

2. No problems were noticed with noise immunity. Between the remote control and the receiver there is a poll "friend or foe". The receiver should not respond to third-party signals. But, if it suddenly works by accident, an extra call won't hurt. The panic button system itself is not the only way to monitor - there is video surveillance with a motion sensor, for which the Hikvision DS-2CD2412F-IW camera is used.

What is GSM and radio channel alarm?

GSM panic buttons and radio channel buttons use different data transmission channels. In the first case, the signal is received via mobile communications, in the second - via radio. The signal is also transmitted via an Internet connection.

Advantages and disadvantages of each system
GSMradio channelInternet connection
Advantages
Wide coverage areaDoes not depend on cellular network coverageHigh speed
Easy installation and launchDifficult to jam, interrupt the signalEasy installation and launch
You can amplify the signal if necessary You can choose the right provider
Flaws
Depends on the cellular network. If the GSM network is unavailable or overloaded, the signal will not passThe equipment must be registered at the radio frequency center of the Ministry of Communications of the Russian FederationAn attacker can interrupt the cable and suppress the signal
GSM signal is easier to suppress than radio frequenciesWhen building a residential area, the signal transmission quality decreases. It is impossible to amplify the signal in this case.If you do not pay for the Internet on time, the signal will not go to the security console
