Chronometers and chronographs.

How is the story? I think it's very good that the company went towards adventure. TAG Heuer smartphones sold quite well and had their own fans, so why not experiment with smartwatches? Then you have to jump on the departing train, but for now, you can try, feel this market, get user feedback. The behavior is absolutely correct, and, moreover, the market met the TAG Heuer Connected with open arms, there are no kilometer-long queues, but the expensive device sells well, there are pre-orders and its own small army of fans (including yours truly).

Here's another thing - people's opinions about TAG Heuer Connected are diametrically opposed, but it's best to come to the boutique yourself (Kuznetsky Most, 7, if you are in Moscow), look, try it on, twist it in your hands and draw your own conclusions. Watches seem easy to someone, heavy to someone, strange to someone, beautiful to someone, how many people, so many opinions.

Here is my opinion. The exterior is good. Firstly, “tags” are instantly recognized, even from a distance of a couple of meters. Massive titanium case, moderately thick strap - black is cool, but a little boring, I'd rather choose green, brown or white, they look great. Rubber belts are not sold separately yet, so when buying you need to decide right away, then you will have to wear it for a long time. In the USA, there were no belts either, and in Europe, they say, the owners are deprived.

You can adjust the length of the belt yourself, it's convenient. The buckle is not big and not small, the watch sits comfortably on the hand, I’ll say more about this below, but you can even work on a laptop without scratching the area to the left or right of the touchpad. That is, you don't have to take it off. The exact dimensions of the watch - 46 x 12.8 mm, weight - 52 grams. As I said, the case is made of titanium, with active use, abrasions are possible. The screen protects the sapphire, it is difficult to scratch. The bezel does not move, the numbers are convex, the crown, in fact, is not a crown, but a button. The case is silver, the bezel is black, on the bottom there is a group of contacts for the charger, it's your own here, you better not lose it. The case is protected according to the IP67 standard, it is protection against dust and short-term immersion in water, rain, drops of water. I think it’s better to take off the watch before swimming in the sea, how the case and rubber will endure the salt, I don’t know. Most likely not very good. I understand that many will not like this, but for now this is the first smart watch for TAG Heuer - let's see what the second model will be (and whether it will be).

The lack of complete water protection is the first thing that can confuse you. The second thing that confuses is the display resolution, 360 x 360 pixels. Other characteristics - LTPS LCD, 240 ppi, "diagonal" 1.5 inches. As far as I understand, the resolution is very small compared to smartwatches from manufacturers like Samsung. But over time, you don’t get used to it, you just put up with it. In the end, there is not much difference, you will not edit video on this display. Information is visible even in the sun, which is great.

I used the watch mainly in tandem with the iPhone, install the Android Wear program, you need to put the watch into pairing mode, you're done, I did all the operations in the car in a few minutes. For Android users, more watch faces and third-party programs are available, while on iOS, you have to use only basic Google programs and view notifications. You can answer a call, see the number of steps, weather, Facebook chat message, in general, everything is typical here. The vibration is strong and noticeable, you won't be able to miss a call. The dials help to quickly start the stopwatch, timer, set the time in another city.

The watch is jointly developed with Intel, uses a 1.6 GHz processor, has 1 GB of main memory and 4 GB of memory for data, a gyroscope, a microphone for working with the watch using voice, a “haptic engine”. I note that by default the microphone and many other services are turned off, you need to turn them on in the settings, after that you can set a timer with your voice, search for various information, and that's really great! Before that, I didn’t have a watch with Android Wear, I really liked it without any buttons or passes with my hands to access the watch and give various commands. Among the dials there is one where the timer is displayed with a green stripe along the edge, very beautiful. The microphone is sensitive here, there are no problems with this. If you feel a vibration, lift the watch a little, and you can see a notification that appears instantly.

In general, I did not have any complaints about the work. Everything that should work works - only I didn’t figure it out with the phone, it turned out to answer the call, but not to talk. Support for Wi-Fi is declared, but I also did not find such an item in the menu. There are probably more features to get paired with Android, but unfortunately I had very little time to get to know the TAG Heuer Connected. I'll try to knock out the clock for a week later and then I can tell more - I assume that with Android you can use the storage and install third-party applications.

Working hours

It uses its own memory, the clock must be placed on a stand and connect the USB cable to a laptop or to a power outlet using a power supply. It takes about three hours to charge, the battery capacity is 410 mAh, the declared operating time is 25 hours in normal mode, my watch worked for a day, it never turned to zero during normal use. In general, everything is typical here - I would like to charge it once a week, but so far there is no such possibility.

The fact is a stubborn thing, and no matter how you feel about watches, those parties that come to Moscow are immediately sold out on pre-orders. The situation is the same in many European cities, I personally went to a watch store in Los Angeles, and there, too, the consultant shrugged his hands, deliveries are expected, but there is a queue. The model has already appeared on the secondary market, but the prices are even higher than in the official points of sale. The recommended price is 100,000 rubles, for some it is cheap, for others it is expensive - I believe that the price tag was chosen correctly and that is why the interest is so great. Owners of the Apple Watch and iPhone, the device is likely to disappoint you, among the useful functions here is a quick setting of the time in the second city, you can see the weather on your hand, fitness functions, but after the Apple watch, the functionality is disappointing. We need to wait until it will be possible to install third-party apps on Android Wear on iOS, that is, buy with a margin, wait, hope and not complain. Honestly, I myself thought about buying - maybe I will do it when the hype subsides.

Accordingly, my conclusions are as follows. As an iPhone owner, I enjoyed three days with TAG Heuer Connected, the watch was quickly connected, worked quietly all day, unlike the Apple Watch, there are fewer notifications - you have to get into the menu yourself, but maybe that's for the best. The fact that the clock is always visible is also good, you get used to it instantly. You turn your wrist and the screen starts showing different information. As for me, the watch looks great on the hand, you can work on a laptop without removing it (maybe this is a subjective experience).

As I said at the very beginning, in the case of the TAG Heuer Connected, it is the design that matters the most, this smart watch looks cool and men will surely like it - for this money you can buy a basic TAG Heuer model or try something really new. I have only positive emotions from using it, albeit for a short time - smart watches help to do some things faster, please with design, TAG Heuer Connected is comfortable to wear, and for frequent travelers this is a godsend, if only because you can quickly view and set the time in two cities. One feature, but very useful.

I highly recommend it - especially to those who cannot reconcile themselves with the appearance of smart watches familiar to us from companies that produce everything in the world, from washing machines to underpants. TAG Heuer did not disappoint fans of interesting toys, and that's just fine.

Do not set the date and day of the week between 8:00 pm and 4:00 am. (The day of the week and the number shown on the display may not change the next day, and this may also damage the mechanism.)

How to set the current time.

Pull the wheel out to the second click so that the second hand stops exactly when it points to 12 o'clock.

Turn the hands forward and set the time to four or five minutes past the current time. Then move the hands back and set them according to the current time.

Push the wheel back in when the time signal is playing.

How to set the current day of the month.

Pull the wheel out to the first click.

Set the current day of the month by turning the wheel.

Please note: For some watch models, the wheel is threaded and in order to set the time and date it must be unscrewed a few turns clockwise. Reversely in the same order, having set the time, press the wheel (overcoming the resistance of the spring) and twist it a few turns counterclockwise.

Stopwatch operation in quartz models:

The stopwatch is activated by the top button. Pressing this button again stops the stopwatch. Pressing the lower button resets the stopwatch to zero.

If the stopwatch value is knocked down - the hand does not return to position 12, this is set by the upper button with the crown open.

To set the stopwatch, you need to open the crown to the end and, while pressing the top button, let the central hand make a full circle until it reaches position 12. In this position, close the crown. When starting and then stopping and resetting the stopwatch, the hand will return to its original position.
