    December Holidays:

In the modern world, military conflicts have become commonplace; the public is accustomed to regularly watching news about a new broken city and counting the victims of terrorist attacks. Unfortunately, this situation can affect any country and any city, because according to statistics, worldwide military campaigns take place every 100 years, which in the course of events destroy half of the world's population.

For more than half a century, the United Nations has been engaged in awakening a conscious way of life in society, so that every cell of society and every person individually can unquestioningly lend a helping hand to everyone in need. In order to draw people's attention to the political and social situation in states, to consolidate the system of peaceful coexistence of all citizens in countries and throughout the planet, a national holiday of peace was patented.

    Story

The history of the holiday begins in the 81st year of the last century. Then the United Nations took the initiative to create it. For 20 years, the holiday was assigned to the third Tuesday of September each year, but in 2001 the situation changed and it was moved to a specific date - September 21.

It was this organization that took the initiative to create the holiday, since it is its responsibility to eliminate the causes of military conflicts. This is due to the fact that by preventing war in the world, a number of epidemics, the development of deadly diseases and poverty can be prevented.

Every year the theme of the holiday changes, covering more and more semantic loads. Eg:

    1. “Express your opinion about the spread of democracy in the world.”
    2. "Youth for peaceful life and development."
    3. "Peace and Education".

The emblem of the holiday is the image of a dove with an olive branch in its beak - as a symbol of the bird of peace.

    Traditions

On this day, the celebration begins at the Peace Bell in New York and is opened by the UN General Assembly. All public, state and private enterprises gather for the celebration in order to celebrate Peace Day collectively, all together.

On this day, all events are held with the propaganda of a peaceful sky above and understanding the problems of the peaceful existence of states. Conferences and lectures are educational in nature, giving people practical experience in achieving world peace.

For the Russian people, this holiday is double, since from history it brings the victory of the Russian military in the Battle of Kulikovo.

For those who are not accustomed to the culture of other peoples, foreign holidays will seem at least surprising, and at most strange. The traditions of other countries are exotic only for us, but for the local population they are familiar and deeply personal.

    What is this article about?

Today we’ll talk about unusual traditions of different countries. There are such interesting holidays in the world that not everyone can understand their meaning. But we will still try to do it.

In this article we have collected interesting holidays in different countries of the world and below we will try to briefly talk about each of them. Of course, this information does not claim to be complete. The list below is far from exhaustive. Yes, and it is impossible to cite one within the framework of one article. But we will try to list at least the most famous ones.

Most of them exist in the form of folk festivals, some - as all kinds of competitions. At the same time, victories are not given much importance, the main thing is fun and originality. The most important thing for the participants is to have a great time.

One of them, called International Pirate Day, arose in the USA and quickly spread around the world (glory to the Internet!). Once a year, namely on September 19, on the streets of any city on Earth you can meet characters in bandanas and black armbands, and hear gibberish about “piasters” and “a thousand devils.”

The prim British, destroying the stereotype, invented the World Championship of Faces. This disgrace has been happening in a city called Egremont (according to unverified data, since 1297). It is also held in September. Fans from all over the world come to make scary faces. The title of absolute champion belongs to a certain Peter Jackson, who mutilated himself for the sake of victory - completely pulling out his teeth.

What other holidays will we consider? Here's a short list:

    • Monkey banquet.
    • Festival of colors.
    • Naked festival.
    • Tapati.
    • Aphelio.
    • Gentlemen's Championship.
    • Tomato battle.
    • Summer Redneck Games and others.

    What about in the East?

In Thailand (Lopburi province) a banquet called the monkey banquet is held annually. Six hundred “invited” feast, gorging themselves on vegetables and fruits in honor of the god Rama. According to legend, it was the monkey that helped him achieve victory over his enemy.

And in India (New Delhi) it is held in honor of the arrival of spring, called the festival of colors. It symbolizes the expulsion of evil and the rebirth of life. At the end of winter, on the new moon (according to legend, this is the day of the death of the evil demon Holika), bonfires are lit in every city - a symbol of the end of winter and the departure of evil spirits. The effigy of Holika is burned in the fire, and fruits and grains are also thrown there.

In the morning (they celebrate for two whole days), it is customary to have fun by pouring colored water on each other and throwing powdered paints.

    And in Japan?

Japan is not far behind. The day, called the Feast of the Naked, has been celebrated since 767. Men (ages 23-43 and numbering about 3,000) come to the temple wearing only loincloths. According to legend, you can get rid of misfortunes and troubles by touching a naked person.

Having accepted purification within the walls of the temple, naked people walk around the city and allow anyone to touch them. There are always a lot of them. But in February it is quite cold in Japan, so participants have to use sake to warm up. The original name of the holiday is Hadaka Matsuri.

In Japan, they believe that cold is a means of hardening the body and cleansing the soul. Therefore, the culmination of the action is duels and dousing with ice water.

    ...and on Easter Island

They also know how to have fun on Chilean Easter Island. Tapati is the name of the festival of ancestor worship. Residents of the island dance in special costumes and compete in running with banana bunches - both men and women.

A mandatory procedure is the ceremonial selection of the queen. Indispensable qualities for a contender for the title are beauty and hard work. You need to prove to a strict jury that a lot of fish have been caught and a lot of fabric has been woven.

    Let's go back to Europe

England can boast of the Olympics for gentlemen. It is held annually in the open air by representatives of London clubs. The purpose of the event is to remind people of gentlemanliness.

Interesting facts about world holidays can be gleaned by studying history. In Scotland (the city of Lerwick) a holiday called Aphelio is celebrated. It is otherwise called the Great Fire Festival and is considered one of the most unique.

To carry it out, a model of a Viking ship 9 meters high is being built. On its nose is a traditional dragon. The task of the Viking squad is to take the ship to the sea. The procession is accompanied by torches and bugles and has almost a thousand participants. At a certain place, a wooden boat is set on fire - this is part of the ancient rite of farewell to fallen warriors.

The holiday is dedicated to the Vikings, who landed near the Scottish coast in the 9th century and left their mark on history. It is celebrated in January, on the last Tuesday.

    They'll throw tomatoes at you

Tomatina (battle of the tomatoes) is a Spanish festival in honor of the end of summer (at the end of August), taking place in the small town of Buñol in the east of the country. The festivities include dancing, fireworks, loud music and free food. It all ends with a tomato battle.

Trucks arrive at the city square with a huge amount of tomatoes, which they usually throw at each other. Throwing other objects is prohibited. Tomato rivers flow through the streets, doors and windows of houses are covered with plastic, citizens swim in a pool filled with tomato juice.

    What about in America?

The annual Summer Redneck Games festival boasts the highlight of the program - a competition to fall into liquid clay. The fans are not embarrassed by the splashing of dirty rain; the next loud dive of a participant into a puddle is greeted with deafening screams.

In our opinion, the Havana (Cuba) Cigar Festival, which has international status, looks much more positive. Manufacturers and exporters from 47 countries come to it. The program consists of concerts, exhibitions, presentations, and visits to tobacco plantations. All events are on the theme of Cuban cigars.

In the world's jazz capital, the world-famous Jazz Fest is traditionally held in May-April - one of the most grandiose jazz festivals. Performers perform in indoor and outdoor venues and simply on the streets. At the same time, dishes of the famous New Orleans cuisine are sold everywhere - oysters, lobsters, fried eggplants.

And, of course, the Oscar itself is presented in the USA. Perhaps this is the most significant award in the world of cinema, and the celebration organized in honor of this event by the American Film Academy at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles is a global event.

    Summing up

As we can see, the most interesting holidays in the world come for every taste - from folk festivals with rude customs to world-class cultural events. What other events did we not mention in our review?

Probably, giving information about the most interesting holidays in the world and their brief descriptions, it is simply criminal to ignore the famous carnivals in Rio de Janeiro and Venice. What can I say? Any carnival is a crazy cocktail of costumes, colors, music and dances. The Rio Carnival is actually a parade of samba schools, organized by the city's Ministry of Tourism.

Each school designs its own moving platform, thinks through costumes and performances. The winner is awarded a substantial cash prize, and the prestige of the school immediately skyrockets.

    What about in Russia?

Speaking about interesting holidays in countries around the world, we never mentioned our country.

Perhaps every school graduate has heard about the White Nights holiday (its other name is Scarlet Sails). The action takes place in St. Petersburg at the end of June.

At night in the summer in St. Petersburg it is as bright as day. The White Nights holiday is a romantic time dedicated to the end of school. As a culmination, a ship with scarlet sails appears in the waters of the Neva, and fantastic fireworks bloom in the sky.

As you can see, there are interesting world holidays for every day. No matter what date you take, somewhere in the world people are sure to have fun and celebrate something. And life only benefits from this!

    August 1: All-Russian collector's day
August 1 is celebrated as All-Russian Cash Cashier's Day. Cash collectors are people on whom the reliability and safety of funds and material assets largely depends. The work of a cash collector is extremely difficult. He must be, as they say, a jack of all trades: not only an experienced security guard, but also a cashier who knows all forms of documents necessary for the transfer of valuables, stamps, and details. He is also a specialist in working with complex banking equipment (ATMs of various designs, electronic exchange offices) and, finally, a loader. After all, packaged valuables can be very heavy, weighing up to 50 kilograms (for example, coins - revenue from car fleets or bullions of precious metals) or, conversely, fragile (cassettes in ATMs). In 1988, the service acquired the status of an independent legal entity, subordinate to the Bank of Russia and being its structural entity. The duties of cash collectors include collecting, guarding and delivering cash and other valuables to the bank's cash desk. The word "collection" comes from the Italian incassare, which means "to put in a box."

Despite the fact that the history of this holiday is not connected with any events or discoveries and it is not a state or official holiday, archaeologists celebrate it as a professional one. Archeology is a completely separate science. All historical events are established either from written sources or from archaeological data. Very, very few written messages are preserved, and sometimes more everyday material than one can imagine. In Russia, this science began to develop in the middle of the 19th century, when Count Alexei Sergeevich Uvarov became interested in archeology. At first, he did not have the slightest idea about the technology of excavation. But it was his research that formed the basis for the further development of the science of antiquities.

Day of Remembrance for Victims of Fascism
The Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Fascism is the Day of Remembrance of tens of millions of people who perished as a result of a gigantic, inhuman experiment. These are millions of soldiers whom the fascist leaders pitted against each other, but even more - civilians who died under bombs, from disease and from hunger. There is no country that would benefit from the rule of the Nazis, there is no nation that would be enriched materially or spiritually as a result of their rule. Since 1962, it has been customary to consider every second Sunday in September as the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Fascism. This day was determined specifically in September, since this month marks two dates associated with the Second World War - the day of its beginning and its complete end. This was one of the reasons for establishing a day of mourning on a September Sunday.
    Programmer's Day
Programmer's Day is an unofficial holiday of programmers, celebrated on the 256th day of the year. The number 256 (two to the eighth power) was chosen because it is the number of numbers that can be expressed using a single byte. In leap years this holiday falls on September 12, in non-leap years - on September 13.
    September 18: Secretary's Day
There is no official professional holiday for secretaries in Russia. But an initiative group of secretaries from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Voronezh, Taganrog, Rostov-on-Don, Novosibirsk and Perm and the editors of the magazine “[email protected]” decided to correct this injustice and establish the “Secretary’s Day” holiday, which is proposed to be held every third Friday in September.
