Usage: Our calendar is full of holidays. And on holidays it is customary to give gifts. Almost all children often face the question: “What to give?” You can give a box of chocolates, but they will be eaten the same evening. You can buy something inexpensive, but experience shows that such trinkets are often unnecessary. But a beautiful product, made with a soul, and even with your own hands, will be an ornament and will be preserved for a long, long memory.
Target: Creating a beautiful voluminous toy for the New Year holiday using the modular origami technique.
Tasks:
- get acquainted with the technique of "modular origami";
- learn how to fold triangular modules;
- connect modules in different ways.
The art of origami is a mystery, and it beckons every child with incredible transformations. It's not even a trick, it's a miracle! Many images are hidden in a piece of paper. In the hands of a child, paper comes to life. How much joy, how much delight! Children experience feelings of emotional comfort, a sense of the joy of childhood, an incomparable feeling of satisfaction from handicrafts made with their own hands. Such a toy is dear to the heart, they talk to it, play with it, and carefully store it. This art has everything that would pull a child to the very top of the Ladder of Creativity and make this ascent excitingly interesting.
After exploring all the possible options for products from modular origami, I decided to choose a sketch of the "Snowman". This sketch is our favorite. After all, the New Year is ahead, and such a snowman will be a wonderful gift for the holiday. It will cost quite a bit.

For work we need:

White office paper
- double-sided colored paper
- glue
- stationery knife
- corrugated paper
- brush
- pencil
- scheme

Progress:

Step 1. Let's make triangular modules from note paper.
Stages of manufacturing a triangular module:
1. Put the rectangle on the table. Let's bend it in half.

2. Bend and straighten to outline the middle line

3. Bend the edges to the middle.

4. Turn over and bend the corners. (Please note: it is better to leave a small gap between the folded corner and the upper triangle).

5. Raise the edges up.

6. Fold the triangle.

The resulting module has two corners and two pockets.
The modules folded according to the above diagram can be inserted into each other in various ways and receive bulk products.
Thus, we will make 946 white modules, 132 blue, 44 yellow.

Step 2. Let's take 34 modules for the first two circles. Let's connect them like this.

Step 3. We assemble the chain: 4 modules in the first row, 4 in the second. Immediately begin to put on the third row. We continue to collect a chain of three rows at once. We collect 34 modules in each row.

Step 4. Let's close in a ring.

Step 5. Turn the ring over, turning it slightly inside out. Let's make an increase in modules by adding 6 modules in the fourth row, that is, we put two on a pair of adjacent corners instead of one module.

Step 6. We continue to complete rows of 40 modules each.

Step 7. The big ball consists of 16 rows (including the first row). During assembly, a spherical shape is not immediately formed. But the whole figure is quite elastic. Imagine that you are holding a clay pot in your hands. It is necessary to immerse your fingers inward and gradually bend the walls, giving the desired shape. We will make the last row 4 modules less. To reduce by two modules, you need to put a pair of modules on not 4, but 6 corners.

Step 8. Let's complete the first row of the head, putting on the modules at a right angle outward.

Step 9. We put on the next row, as usual.
Step 10. We continue to complete rows of 36 modules.

Step 11. Let's do 9 rows (including the first). Let's form a ball. The base for the snowman is ready.

Step 12 Let's make hands, a mouth and eyebrows. Draw on paper and cut out. The nose is a cone made of colored paper.

Step 13. To make a hat, let's collect 3 rows of 22 modules, lock into a ring and turn inside out.

In total, the cap consists of 8 rows. We put it on a snowman and add details as you wish.

For work you will need:

• colored thick paper or A4 cardboard - 8 sheets;
• simple pencil;
• scissors;
• decorative thread.

Progress:

1. We take thick colored paper or cardboard and fold it in half. We have a rectangle.
2. We bend the corner of its small left side, pulling it to the center of the folded paper, then you need to straighten it. Now we pull the larger side of our rectangle to its second parallel side. We spread the sheet of paper again and in this way we got the intersection of the lines, which will be our center of the star. Mark it with a simple pencil.
3. Next, we take the corner of its right side and pull it to our marked center. Carefully iron.
4. The right corner, which we connected to the center, is attached to its opposite side and fixed with a finger, pressing the resulting line. We have a kind of quadrilateral.
5. We connect the right side of the paper, on which we marked the center, with the resulting quadrangle, tightly pressing the straight butt lines to each other. We also have a triangle in this way.
6. We fold two geometric figures in half along the butt line, arching them as if inside out and carefully stroking all sides with your finger.
7. Then we take scissors and cut off the extra edge of the figure so that we get a small triangle.
8. After that, we open our paper product, completely straightening it. As a result, we have formed a five-pointed box, on which we draw all the fold lines with a simple pencil. Now it will be easier for us to orient ourselves and assemble this New Year's craft with our own hands.
9. At the end of the origami work, do not forget to attach a shiny thread to our five-pointed star, as this is a Christmas tree decor.

Snowflake from origami modules

A very beautiful craft for the New Year 2020 will, of course, be a snowflake created from origami modules. Naturally, to make such a miracle with your own hands, it will take a significant amount of time, and, especially, effort. But this should not scare you, because the end result is a fragile and elegant product made from plain paper. Let's see how all this is done at home.

For work you will need:

• white paper, A4 format - 5 sheets;
• blue paper, A4 format - 4 sheets;
• pencil;
• ruler;
• scissors;
• glue.

Progress:

To create this craft, you need to create 150 white and 120 blue modules.

1. Let's start making origami modules with our own hands. To do this, we take all sheets of A4 format and divide them into 32 rectangular parts, after which we cut them out.
2. Next, take one resulting rectangle and fold it in half horizontally, and then vertically, outlining the center line.
3. We bend the upper right and left corners to the center, after which we turn the workpiece over and bend the lower right and left corners.
4. We raise the lower part, fold it in half and get the first module. In the same way, we manufacture subsequent modules.
5. Having completed the work on creating modules, we immediately proceed to their assembly. In order to securely fix all the details of our product, we use glue. We combine 2 rows of 6 white elements into a ring, inserting into each other.
6. Be careful, as the number of modules is doubled on the third row. This is achieved by dressing two on one, resulting in 12 modules.
7. To make our decoration look more elegant for the New Year 2020, we decorate it with blue modules, starting to introduce them from the fourth row. It is identical to the previous one, so 12 modules are also released at this stage.
8. In the next row, we must double the number of elements in the row twice. This means that in the fifth row you will get 24 modules. We do the next sixth row in the same way as the fifth.
9. Here is some of the work we have done. Now we proceed to the seventh row, in which we collect 24 modules, alternating the combination in a circle: 3 blue, 1 white module. There are 6 sharp blue corners.
10. Further we work only with blue rays. To each of the three blue modules we add two more, and then one detail. Narrowing occurs.
11. Now we carry out white arches, which consist of 17 modules. White modules remained in the seventh row - this is the basis of the arches. One module is taken, another pocket is put on it, thus framing the blue beam. It remains to collect 5 more white arches.
12. And the last stage of assembling a snowflake with your own hands using the modular origami technique is the compilation of small rays. They are made of 5 modules inserted like a column and 3 modules on top that make the tips fluffy. We attach them to our craft. That's it! For everyone, of course, this will be the most beautiful holiday decoration, especially, it will seem interesting for your children.
