They differ from European ones in additional functions and special calculation capabilities that allow believers to accurately determine the time.

Peculiarities

• Islam has developed a certain tradition of creating watches.. Before modern tools and construction methods appeared, the current hour was determined by the sun. Eastern sages could easily set the time and correct inaccuracies in the time frame. But that's in the past.
• The first watch that showed accurate time and had Islamic symbols, were called al Jazari. The mechanism worked due to water flows. The arrow directions on them changed along with the image. During the daytime, the disk of the sun and the six signs of the Zodiac were illuminated.
• After this, mechanical watches appeared, which had separate scales for degrees and minutes. Hence the love for additional dials among modern manufacturers.

• The main models produced by Muslim brands are wristwatches. Their features include displaying prayer times for every city in the world. If the desired city is not in the program, then its coordinates can be entered manually - the mechanism will immediately indicate the exact time of prayers.
• Possibility of automatic detection and reminder of prayer times- a necessity for a modern Muslim, which is why this function is available in both men's and women's watches.
• Islamic chronometer models notify Muslims about the time of call for nazam. What’s noteworthy is that the notification interval is set manually, after which automatic mode is activated.
• The clock indicates the exact location of the qibla(the direction in which the holy Kaaba is located). It is necessary for the fivefold worship. These prayers are daily, therefore they are an integral part of the life of any Muslim. During prostrations, Arabic mechanisms indicate the correct location of the cubic structure, where you need to look.

Models

The majority of even European manufacturers produce series specifically for Eastern believers. We will consider them below.

Al-Fajr

They show the time of prayer and calculate the qibila anywhere in the world. Orientation is based on sunny location and north side. Thus, Islam has its own calendar called the Hijri, which means that not everyone follows the European calendar. That is why most mechanisms are equipped with a pair of calendars.

The same watch displays information about the Quran. The name of the suras and the number of prayers on which the believer stopped last time are entered into the mechanism itself. The passage of time and its determination are particularly precise in all models, they are chronometers. Their accuracy is 0.1 seconds.

In appearance, the watch resembles a classic model with the best performance "Wave Ceptor". It is intended for Muslims who love to travel - from anywhere in the world you can find the correct direction and location of the prayer ceremony, and this is extremely important.

The model bears the additional name "Prayer Compass", thereby hinting at the main function - determining the direction of the world.

Another unusual and very high quality design from Casio– the arrow on the dial determines the exact direction to the qibla. The main characteristics are indicated in electronic format - the manufacturers have supplemented the mechanism with convenient buttons on the base. You can even find out the exact prayer times for the coming days to plan your routine.

Indicators and parameters are also at the same level: prayer time, alarm clock, notifications, prostration calculation, digital compass, barometer and backlight. This series has wonderful additions and was created specifically for Muslims.

Some time ago I reviewed watches with original Arabic numerals. Not a bad watch, but its appearance is purely office. Not long ago I came across a model with the same dial design, but in a more brutal case, with a date window and different shaped hands.
It turned out to be a good watch. Details in the review.

I purchased three pairs of different watches from this seller at once; reviews of the rest will come later. I was pleased that the seller made delivery by Hong Kong Post (formerly CN Post), without increasing the price of the product. This mail delivers to Kazakhstan faster than all others.
All this was packed in a small box. Inside are watches in bags wrapped in bubble wrap.
The total length of the watch with strap is 244 mm.




Case diameter 40.8 mm, diameter with crown 44 mm. Height with lugs 48 mm.


Plated alloy body. The surface treatment is deliberately rough. As far as I know, this is called brushing.
There is a small defect visible in the photo - the minute hand is set unevenly, the tip is tilted up. But live it is almost unnoticeable.


The dial color is white. Another defect is noticeable in the date window - a bit of elongated stretchy plastic. This means the dial is made of plastic. The numbers on the hour markers are metal, applied, with a mirror shine.


The hands are also silver. There is a luminescent composition applied to the hour and minute, but it glows so weakly that I did not photograph this phenomenon.
The thickness of the watch is 10 mm. The glass is flat, mineral, with chamfered edges.


The diameter of the crown is 5.3 mm. Made of shiny metal. The size and notches are convenient for a confident grip, unlike other models from the manufacturer.


The inscriptions on the back cover are typical for budget Chinese watches.


Stainless Steel Back – the back cover is made of stainless steel, which means the rest of the body is made of alloy. 3ATM Water Resistant – protection against splashing water.
The Seiko Quartz Movement is an interesting statement. I don't open the cracker lids because I don't know how to close them. But judging by indirect evidence, it is far from a Japanese mechanism.
Firstly, when setting the time with the crown pulled out, the hands dangle shamelessly and when setting it to the normal position they also jump several notches.
Secondly. The clock is ticking loudly. Can be heard from a distance of one meter.
Let's check the mechanism for accuracy.
We managed to set the clock to the exact time on the site with a delay of 2 seconds.


3 weeks have passed. Now they are in a hurry for 2 seconds.


In total, it took 4 seconds. in 21 days. Very good accuracy. Thus, although the mechanism is cheap, it performs its main function perfectly.
The strap in the photo looks very decent, it looks like leather, but in fact it is cheap leatherette and it feels very good to the touch.
Strap width 20 mm.




Near the watch case it is decorated with stitches of white thread. Not done very carefully.


The buckle is of high quality, made of fairly thick stainless steel.


The reverse side of the strap, with claims of real leather. I've never seen it say artificial :-)

As always, the readability of silver symbols on a light background is poor at some angles.


The watch itself is not thick and sits comfortably.




The strap is fastened to the third hole from the end (in the photo it is tightened a little tight). There is a reserve for those with larger wrists.


After some time, I remembered that I had a 20 mm textile non-NATO strap in my stash.
Let's try it on.


The pins on the watch turned out to be thin.

The differences with previous watches are visible. A different case, more massive hands with lume, a second hand, a date window, a different dial color, and a strap. I liked the new design better, I will keep this watch for myself, and the previous ones will look for a new owner.
I cannot recommend the watch under review as the only one. And you can buy it as an original accessory for little money. The presence of small defects is not noticeable and does not interfere with the use of the watch for its intended purpose.
