How to pack a heavy gift. How to wrap gifts in gift paper: step by step instructions and video

Ideas for gifts, and now we suggest thinking about packaging. If you're up for more than a fancy bag or a consultant's help this year, we've put together a few video tutorials, from packaging in all sorts of shapes and perfect bows to decorating tricks to make craft paper more fun.

How to pack a simple box

A basic lesson that will come in handy for those who rarely wrap gifts - or worry that it turns out unevenly. A representative from One Kings Lane shows how to measure the right amount of paper and achieve even corners by wrapping a rectangular or square box. A tip that will come in handy for everyone, regardless of skills and experience: use double-sided tape.

How to tie a simple bow

The author of the video, Dana, was still at school working in a candy store and there she learned how to tie even bows on boxes of sweets - and now she is transferring her knowledge to us. Everything is much simpler than it seems at first glance: after a few workouts, you will learn how to do everything with your eyes closed.

How to tie a luxurious bow

Such a bow will turn any gift into a royal one - and repeating it is not as difficult as it seems. Start with the right tape (the thicker it is, the easier it will be) and be prepared to use a lot of it. The secret is to make a few loops and "weave" them into a regular bow - and then effectively straighten.

How to wrap a gift without tape

This method of packaging is called Japanese: perhaps this is a reference to origami and the art of paper folding, perhaps to a viral video, whose hero is able to pack a couple of gifts in less than half a minute. You don't need tape or tape: the secret is to stick the loose end into other layers of paper. True, this can only be done on a rectangular or square box.

How to wrap an unusual gift

UK store WHSmith has released a video on what to do with oddly shaped gifts like a teddy bear. Instead of carefully wrapping the paws, head and ears of the toy with paper, you can make a neat package. If you do not really like this packaging, you can try another form - from video Martha Stewart.

How to wrap complex shapes

It would be great if all the gifts were as easy to pack as a regular rectangular box - but there are different situations. Shiho, the author of the YouTube channel with the loud name Paper Guru, released a video on how to deal with gifts of non-obvious shape: a cylinder, a triangle, a pyramid and more. Perhaps not the most beautiful - but everything is extremely clear and understandable.

How to decorate the packaging

If you have already mastered the basics of packaging, you can try your hand at design. In this video - ten simple tricks that will not require much effort, money and a lot of time from you - just go to Leonardo or any stationery store. Paint stains on craft paper, monograms and even deer-shaped packaging - in general, everything you want.

How else to decorate the package

A few more ideas for minimalistic paper decorations: a spruce branch, a potato print for a homemade pattern on the package, snowflakes and a gift certificate envelope.

How else to help yourself deal with packing

A few life hacks that will help you get out of a difficult situation (for example, wrapping a gift if there is not enough paper) and not only: the author explains how to make a gift bag out of paper, why it is better to use double-sided tape, how to make a paper bow, and even how to make packaging for a small gift from a toilet paper roll.

How to pack a cat

Bonus video for those whose best gift is a beloved cat. In this video, the owner carefully packs the animal and even puts a bow on his head - and the cat lies quietly and waits for the paper to be removed. Remember that not all cats like to be put on something - so if yours resists, do not try the experiment again.

We all, no doubt, love to receive gifts. However, we experience even greater pleasure when we bring joy to loved ones and relatives. Eyes sparkling with happiness and a sincere smile of a dear person - what could be more beautiful!

We treat the preparation of a gift quite scrupulously: we take into account the individual preferences and hobbies of the recipient. One of the important roles in this process is played by a festive wrapper, which gives a special charm and mystery to the gift. Did you know that it is very easy to wrap a gift in original gift paper with your own hands? In this article you will find step-by-step instructions on how you can beautifully, creatively and easily pack absolutely any item with your own hands.

Step-by-step instructions: how to wrap a gift beautifully

Until now, it was thought that only specially trained people could deal with gift wrapping? Big delusion! Most importantly, all the tools to create such a masterpiece are available to absolutely everyone.

We will need:

  • Scissors;
  • Double sided tape;
  • Gift paper;
  • Ribbons and any other decorative elements.

So let's get started:

1 step: First you need to measure and cut out the required amount of gift paper for packaging. Please note that you need to measure the rectangle in such a way that you have a margin of a few centimeters on each side of the gift in order to evenly bend the paper in the future. For example, look at how much gift paper is cut off in the photo.

On a note! If you have never folded gift paper in this way before, you can practice, for example, on an unnecessary newspaper. According to the finished "pattern" from the newspaper, it will be possible to measure the required amount of gift paper.

2 step: Bend the edge of one of the two vertical sides by 1 cm and stick tape on it. Unite the vertical sides. Stretch the gift paper so that it fits snugly enough around the gift. If you follow all the rules, you will notice that the seam is almost invisible.

3 step: Now move on to the sides. Gently fold the top of the gift paper as shown in the photo.

5 step: The matter remains small. Stick a strip of double-sided tape on top of the remaining piece of paper (you also need to fold the edge of the paper). Remove the protective film from the adhesive tape and secure the entire side part in this way. Please note that the lower part should end exactly in the middle, as shown in the photo.

6 step: Repeat the whole procedure on the other side of the gift.

7 step: Time to start decorating. No gift is complete without a festive bow. We will also make it with our own hands. To do this, you need to take three ribbons corresponding to the gift paper shades. You should tie these ribbons on top of each other, thereby creating the necessary volume.

8 step: In addition to ribbons, you can decorate the gift with any decorative elements that you have in everyday life. It turns out here is such a beauty!

How to wrap a box in gift paper

Tired of the monotony in gift wrapping? Then you are at the right place! Below is a step-by-step instruction on how to pack a box using very original things. The peculiarity of this type of packaging lies in the fact that instead of gift paper we will take an ordinary newspaper, and woolen thread and buttons will come to replace the bow. Quite a beautiful and conceptual option!

1 step: Take a spread of any newspaper (preferably one that has been on the shelf for some time). Be sure to pay attention to the information that is located there. An uncomfortable situation may result if the pages contain an article that is unpleasant for the recipient of the gift. Approach this stage with no less creativity. Fold the edge of the newspaper over to one side of the box.

2 step: Do the same work on the opposite side. Please note that on this side a sheet of newspaper should only reach the middle. Cut off unnecessary parts of our gift paper with scissors.

On a note! If possible, put the gift upside down and start wrapping. All seams will remain invisible.

3 step: Now you need to move on to the other sides of the package. Bend one of the sides so that it ends in the same place as the edge of the box.

4 step: Bend the left side edge so that it can cover the left edge of the gift. Leave a small margin of a couple of centimeters. The rest can be cut with scissors.

5 step: Just like in the first instruction, unite the left and right sides of the paper with double-sided tape. The stock that we left must be bent and hidden inside.

8 step: As we have already said, the decorative elements in this case are quite original. Wrap the gift box with string.

9 step: Decorate the resulting "bow" with buttons.

How to wrap a round gift

We figured out square and rectangular gifts. Now in turn is the option of wrapping a round gift. This method of gift wrapping is also quite original. Instead of gift paper, we will take a piece of thick fabric and decorate it all with a contrasting ribbon. Thus, we do not even need tape or scissors (only if we cut the fabric).

Attractive packaging is half the fun of a gift. How beautiful and original to pack a gift with your own hands? An urgent question for those who are tired of standard paper bags. But it is important to remember that the decorative elements must be in harmony with the selected packaging material.

How to properly pack a rectangular gift: option number 1

To wrap a square or rectangular object (for example, a box, book or soap), you will need: wrapping paper, ruler, scissors, double-sided tape, decor materials.

Place the gift on paper and, using a ruler with a pencil, determine and mark the required size of the package, leaving 2-3 cm around the edges for a hem. Cut out the drawn rectangle with scissors and place the box in the center. Bend one of the vertical edges of the segment inward by about 5-10 mm and glue double-sided tape to the fold. Wrap the box in paper, making sure that the edges remaining on the sides are the same size. Try to wrap as tightly as possible so that there are no wrinkles. Remove the film from the adhesive tape and glue the folded edge to this side. To process the side, bend up the bottom protruding part and press it against the edge of the box. Then you need to bend the sides and top, and then fix it with double-sided tape. Do the same with the other side. Customize the wrapped gift of your choice.

Option number 2

You can use another, fairly simple way of how to wrap a gift in the correct shape with gift paper. Prepare wrapping material in two colors, scissors, ribbon and tape. Place the gift box in the middle of a piece of paper of the required size. Wrap first along the length and fasten in the center with tape. Then fold up the sides of the paper and tie them together with ribbon. After that, take two strips of a different color, which should be less than the sides of the box in width. Arrange them crosswise on the table, place the gift in the center and wrap it, gathering the edges of both strips at the top. Tie them together with ribbon. Cut the resulting bundle and straighten it, giving it the shape of a flower. The paper must be soft. The foil packaging looks good.

How to wrap a round gift beautifully

Wrapping gifts that are round in shape is more difficult and takes a little longer, but you will certainly be pleased with the result. To do this, you need a wrapper, glue and tape.

Cut out a strip of paper, which should be longer than the circumference of the box, and wider than the diameter and height combined. The gift should be placed in the middle of the cut out strip sideways and wrapped as tightly as possible, fixing the tip with glue. Next, you need to process the top and bottom of the box. To do this, on both sides, bend the protruding ends of the paper with neat folds, and then secure them with adhesive tape. To disguise it, glue small circles cut from the material used for packaging on top.

If one of the paper indents is initially left larger, then the folds will only need to be folded from one bottom side. The top is assembled in the form of a lush frill, which is fixed with a ribbon or bow. For such packaging, it is better to use corrugated paper, since it is more pliable.

Round box packing in paper strips

There is another original option on how to pack a gift in paper. A round box wrapped in cut-out stripes of one or more colors looks unusual and interesting, which can be either matching or contrasting. How to pack a gift in gift paper in this way? Special skills are not required here. Everything is elementary simple. Cut out 8, 6 or 4 wide paper strips and fold them crosswise. Place a gift in the middle. Raise the strips, fixing them one at a time on the end of the box with adhesive tape or glue, which can be masked with a circle of paper or directly with a decorative element in the form of a flower, bow, etc.

Irregular box packaging

How to pack a gift in gift paper if it is placed in a non-standard box? The easiest option is to place it in a bag, for the manufacture of which, in addition to a thin gift wrapper, you need scissors and a decorative cord or ribbon. Cut off the required amount of paper, focusing on the size of the box. Place the gift on a segment so that when folded, its opposite sides can converge evenly. Wrap the box in paper, rolling it up into a tube. Bend the resulting roll at the base in half. Connect both ends at the top base with ribbon or string, decorate.

Gift packaging without a box: option number 1

How to pack a gift in an original way if it does not have a box? It is not necessary to buy it specifically. You can beautifully arrange a present without it. For example, it looks interesting and very easy to make packaging in the form of candy. Moreover, you can give any thing in it (cosmetics, sweets, clothes, etc.). Let's look at how to wrap a gift in gift paper, giving it the shape of a delicious treat.

For the manufacture of "candy" you need scissors, wrapping paper (preferably corrugated), ribbon, a sheet of cardboard or other dense material.

First, the gift must be placed in a small bag and shaped like a bar, wrapped in a dense material. Next, the "candy" is wrapped with gift paper. At the same time, it is necessary that its edges extend a few centimeters beyond the borders of the “bar”, at the end of which bows of ribbons are tied. That, in fact, is the whole process of packaging manufacturing. If you take plain gift paper, then on top of it you can write a congratulatory text that will surely please the person being presented.

Option number 2 - packaging in the form of a truffle candy

Another option on how to wrap a gift beautifully is the design in the form of a truffle candy. This is very convenient if you need to wrap several items together (stationery, dishes, etc.). To do this, fold all the components of the gift onto a sheet of cardboard, which can first be wrapped in wrapping paper. Place it in the middle of a piece of transparent wrapping film, the size of which depends on the volume of the present. Next, lift the ends of the film up and give the package a truffle look by securing it on top with a beautiful ribbon. Corrugated paper can be used instead of transparent material. Similarly, you can arrange a bottle.

In addition to the considered ways of how to pack a gift in gift paper, there are many more interesting options that you can explore and try out in practice. Perhaps, making out a present for the first time, you will come to the conclusion that this is a rather difficult task. But believe me, each time the process will be easier, bring pleasure and delight in the results of the work done.

How to wrap a gift in wrapping paper

Gifts come in different forms, and therefore

just wrapping the box with gift paper will not work.

Ready-made wrapping schemes will help to do everything neatly and correctly.

Gift in a box

  1. Cut out a rectangular sheet of packing material. The width of the sheet should be 3 cm more than the sum of the measurements of the four sides of the box. The sheet length is 2 box heights + 1 length.
  2. Place the box in the center of the sheet. Bend the sides along the length of the box onto each other, fasten with transparent tape. Stretch the paper well to avoid creases.
  3. Next, fasten at the ends: bend the top piece of the package, then press the side parts. Bend the bottom piece too, secure with tape in the middle.

round gift

  1. Cut out a rectangular sheet. The length is 3-4 cm more than the diameter of the gift, and the width is 3-4 cm more than the height.
  2. Wrap the present, fasten in the middle with a piece of tape.
  3. Bend the edges from the bottom alternately (top, sides, bottom), secure in the center with tape.
  4. Wrap one upper free corner inward and begin to fold the free edge with an accordion to the center. When folded around the entire circumference - secure with tape.

Custom packaging

  1. For shapeless items like clothes or bulky scarves, use a square piece of cardboard. Put a thing on it, place the cardboard on a sheet of packaging material. Carefully gather the edges so that the present takes the shape of a bag. Tie with a large ribbon in a contrasting color.
  2. Wrap the gift in tissue paper. Lay on the edge of a rectangular sheet of packaging. Having taken the paper, twist the gift, fasten it with glue or tape. Bend the remaining bottom and top edges, secure with glue.
  3. If the gift is oblong, prepare a cardboard tube for it. Hide a present in it. Cut a piece of packaging - 6 cm longer than the tube, two turns wide. Wrap the gift in paper, secure at the edges of the tube with tape. Crumple the remaining paper from above and below into a bundle, tie it with ribbons, creating a semblance of candy.
