Competition entry No. 15 – Knitted dress “Coral Summer” ()

The dress is crocheted from Alize cotton yarn No. 2. The model was invented along the way, the patterns were slightly altered, so I apologize in advance if the description seems unclear to someone.

The work is divided into 3 main stages: belt, bodice and skirt. It is knitted almost entirely in the round, with the exception of the bodice, where there are two shoulder seams.

The dress was knitted approximately size 54.

Stage 1 belt: cast on 280 stitches and knit in the round with pattern No. 1 (small nuance: instead of 2 double crochets, I knitted 5. You can do more, you can do less, depending on the desired effect).

Stage 2 bodice: After finishing work on the belt, we smoothly move on to knitting the bodice, using pattern No. 2. Having reached the armhole, we divide the knitting into two parts and knit to the end. We have a boat neckline, which greatly simplifies the design of the neckline.

Stage 3: on the other side of the belt we begin work on the skirt with a new pattern.

Pattern for a skirt: fans are knitted from 7 double crochets, 1 chain stitch.

In the next circle, a fan of 1 double crochet and 1 chain stitch are knitted into each previous stitch. The next row is knitted in the same order: first the fans, then 1 double crochet, 1 chain stitch.

In the process, to give the skirt a slightly flared shape, the number of columns in the fans increases: 9, 11,13,15. Decorate the hem of the skirt with a border: 1 double crochet, 1 chain stitch.

Dress size: 44 (Russia) or 38 (Europe).

For execution crochet dresses we will need:

  • Silky yarn (Vita) (500 meters in 100 grams, viscose 100%) - 500 g coral color;
  • hook number 1.5;
  • beads and beads as buttons.

Knitting techniques for dresses:

  • We knit the main pattern according to pattern 1. In the middle of the pattern I showed a “false seam” that should be used to move to the next row;
  • Knit the “bugs” pattern according to pattern 2.

We crochet a coral dress according to the following description.

Before starting work, make a life-size pattern according to the dimensions of the following pattern or your own. Follow patterns 1 and 2 to determine the knitting density. Calculate the repeats of the pattern to the required sizes, calculate the increases and decreases on the sides of the product and start knitting the dress from the bottom up in the round.

Knit three stripes of the bugs pattern according to pattern 2 and continue knitting with the main pattern to the required height, making the necessary decreases. Knit two stripes with a bug pattern. Now we knit the bodice in reverse rows, since there is a fastener on the back (line AB).

Along the fastener we knit one repeat of the bugs pattern. From the armhole, the bodice and back are made separately with a “bugs” pattern. Please note that the centers of the “bugs” on the hips, along the back and on the yoke are connected with beads (Figure 1).

We tie the neckline and armholes with two rows of posts. single crochet with beads and “crawfish step”. Along the back we make the same binding with air loops according to the size of the buttons. Tie the bottom of the skirt in a crawfish step. We steam and our dress is ready!
