Homemade slippers with open toes. How to sew home slippers

Further words from the author
At the request of site visitors, I made a master class: patterning house slippers with my own hands. After all, you won’t always find the right size on the Internet, for example 45, believe me, it’s very simple and faster than searching for what you need on the Internet.

First, trace your foot on a piece of paper; it’s better to do it while standing, so that your foot is completely on the floor.

2.

Correct the pattern: straighten the outer side, connecting the heel and foot, leave a deflection on the inner side, because you will need to somehow distinguish between the left and right sneakers.

3.

Mark on the bottom piece where the top piece will end or begin. This is 1/3 of half a mortar.

4.

Next, place your foot on the outlined foot and measure the length of the upper part from the line, going around the height of the big toe. There is no need to make the top part too long; it will be uncomfortable to wear such slippers.

5.

Next, measure the width of the upper part from the marks to the left and right of the foot and add 2-3 cm, this depends on the density of the fabric; the thicker the fabric for the slippers, the greater this increase.

6.

Now adjusting the pattern. We have positions 3 and 4, this is the beginning of the top part. Positions 1 and 2 mark the widest points on the foot.

7.

Fold the foot pattern in half and draw this half on a new sheet of paper. Marking points 2 and 3 and the middle of the pattern.

8.

Turn over and place on the other side of the middle of the pattern, marking points 1 and 4

9.

Connect points 1 and 4 with a straight line, points 2 and 3 with a concave line - this is the inside of the sneaker.

10.

Cut out and trace the resulting pattern on a new sheet of paper. Fold the first option along the middle line. Mark point 3 or 4 with a cut out triangle - and make marks on the new lower part. From the toe, set aside the data from photo 4, connect point 4 and the set aside segment, mine is 13 cm. Cut it at an angle, we will only need the top piece, we can get rid of the bottom one.

11.

On a new sheet of paper, from the top point along the fold, mark the depth of the part, mine is 13. And from this point to the left, half the measured width of the foot from photo 5. Fold the top points, hold it with your finger and move it to the previously made mark for the width of the top part. Circle everything.

12.

Correct the upper part, set control points so that there are no distortions when connecting the upper and lower parts. Now the pattern of house slippers is ready, and how to sew slippers, see this article. Ugh, it’s very difficult to describe such simple master classes. I hope everything is clear to you! I will be glad if you write about this in the comments under the article.

Here are a few options from the Internet for inspiration.
Cozy slippers to fit, dear needlewomen!

Felt slippers in half an hour

Today I will tell you how to quickly sew warm slippers from felt.

1.

To do this, you will need natural felt measuring approximately 60 x 60 cm, it is sold in construction stores and is used as insulation, you can sew such slippers from colored pressed felt for crafts, a good sewing machine, although it is quite possible to sew it manually with a blanket stitch, if you wish, then leather for the sole from abrasion.

2.

At the end of the article you will find a pattern (size 37 or 45 with seam allowances), my son, having a foot size of 42, sometimes wears such slippers with a sock, so this size does not bother him, I hope you do too. Print the pattern, taking into account that the top part on the pattern has a fold, it is better to cut it out separately already in unfolded form. Draw a pattern with a marker, marking the joints, which are indicated by numbers. Place the parts together and using a thick needle and strong thread in the marked places, make several stitches over the edge so that the parts do not move when sewing. If you want reinforcement with leather, then a piece of leather must first be glued to the sole.

3.

Then join the parts manually or using a machine, moving 1 cm from the edge. When sewing, the upper part should be gathered a little for volume.

4.

Remove the threads used to connect the marks. And very warm felt slippers are ready in half an hour. All that remains is to decorate them, for example, with buttons, pieces of leather or colored threads.

Warmth for your feet, dear needlewomen!

Winter has always been famous not only for the cold weather outside, but also for the cozy, warm atmosphere in the house. At such a time, you want to warm not only yourself, but also those who are near you. So why not sew warm slippers for your household? From this article you will learn several ways to sew fur slippers with your own hands; patterns will help you quickly understand all the nuances, and in the end you will spend a minimum of time and money on it.

Cozy home accessory

For the upcoming work, you should stock up on some materials:

  • The finished pattern - the process of making it will be described below.
  • Soft leather - will be used as an insole.
  • Fleece.
  • Decorative elements as desired.

Important! Fur can be either artificial or natural.

To make a pattern, you can use two methods:

  • Print the finished one, then adjust it to fit your leg or the leg of the person for whom the garment is being made.
  • Take old slippers and cut out two parts along the contours - this method is much easier than the previous one.

Now you can proceed directly to manufacturing the product. In order to sew fur slippers with your own hands and make patterns, you must follow this algorithm:

  1. Take one of the parts and cut it into two equal parts.
  2. Attach the resulting parts to a sheet of paper and trace them.
  3. Now you need to measure the width of the flat part of the toe of the shoe, and then mark it with noticeable dots, setting aside 40 mm from the edge. After this, you need to measure the length of the insole.
  4. Glue a rectangular piece to the resulting spout and cut out the middle in it. As a result, you will get a suitable pattern.
  5. Cut out 6 main parts according to the patterns, adding 4 cm for allowances.
  6. Sew the fur and fleece parts together with allowances so that the fur is inside the product. Then sew on the fleece sole - there should be no allowance on it.
  7. Insert the fur blank into the fleece blank, sew it together, leaving space so that you can turn the product inside out (it is necessary that the fur is inside the slipper).
  8. Sew up the product, sew on a leather insole.
  9. Decorate the slippers as you wish.

Ugg slippers made from an old sheepskin coat

If you have some old sheepskin coat in your house that you are about to throw away, then do not rush to do so. You can give this seemingly unnecessary thing a new life, for example, sew slippers from an old sheepskin coat.

For further work you will need:

  • An old sheepskin coat.
  • Leather for the insole.
  • Ready-made patterns.
  • Durable thick threads.
  • Decor elements.

Sewing master class

The process of their manufacture is not as complicated as it seems at first glance:

  • The first step is to create a pattern for the insoles. To do this, just trace your foot or the foot of the person for whom you are sewing slippers.
  • Transfer the resulting sketch to the prepared sheepskin coat.
  • Make the side parts of house shoes in a similar way.

Important! When cutting out the details, you need to take into account the width of the ankle and the standard size of your shoes.

  • Transfer the patterns to the sheepskin coat material, leaving approximately 1.5 cm for seams.
  • Cut out the intended blanks and begin to sew them together, using prepared strong threads.
  • Decorate the finished product to your liking.

The slippers are ready!

Classic slippers

After making a pattern for the sole of the shoe and its top (this time it is as simplified as possible), you can proceed to making fur slippers with your own hands:

  • Cut the soles, adding 5 mm for allowances.
  • Reduce the gasket pattern by 7 mm along its entire contour - this is necessary to avoid thickening of the seams.
  • Glue the leather soles together and carefully trim all the edges.
  • Glue the sole along the edges to the upper part of the slippers with the seam facing out, not forgetting to align the control marks.

Important! If the model is closed, then you need to additionally add the excess length of the part on top along the toe part. If it is open, it is necessary to adjust the length of the upper part so that the foot is held tightly in the slipper.

  • Connect the top of the product and the sole.

The product is ready!

Important! The seam can be covered with a decorative leather braid or other decorative element that suits the style. To ensure that the finishing elements are well secured, you can use a glue gun, which is designed specifically for needlework.

If you like unusual, original things made with your own hands, then soft slippers will be an excellent option for replenishing your home wardrobe. You can sew home slippers from any available materials, it can be an old sheepskin coat, the tops of unnecessary boots, pieces of fur, woolen fabric, drape, leatherette, and so on.

You can sew closed, very warm slippers with your own hands. At the bottom of the page there is a file with life-size patterns that you can copy and print. There are three sizes available: 38, 39, 41. If necessary, the patterns can be reduced by several sizes and sew compact children's slippers.

If you want to make your own slipper pattern, you can take a sheet of paper and trace your foot, you can also trace the outline of regular old slippers, tracing their sole. However, you only need to outline your leg while wearing a sock, so it will be more spacious. To create your own patterns for house slippers, you can use existing patterns shown in the picture, adjusting them to fit your foot.

What material can such cozy slippers be made from? You can choose any available materials. In most cases, the lower parts of the sole are made of artificial leather, leather or split leather. The upper part of the sole is made of suede, split leather, cloth, and there is a gasket between the top and bottom layers. You can use batting and cardboard for this. However, if you wish, you can use any materials by cutting out scraps from old things. The main thing is to show your imagination and put in a little work. You can sew such slippers on a sewing machine or by hand, sewing each seam with a thick thread.

Most clothing items can be made yourself.

Skirts, trousers, T-shirts, jackets and coats - it is not uncommon for a needlewoman to completely create her own wardrobe from scratch.

The process of creating full-fledged, high-quality shoes will require from the master not only significant material costs, but also enormous experience, which can be difficult to obtain on your own.

Therefore, it is better to start with the simplest shoes - it is very easy to make home slippers with your own hands, and in addition, you can use the materials that you already have at home. So, for this product you will need:

Old slippers or any comfortable shoes as an example if the standard pattern does not fit;

Tracing paper for transferring and making patterns, graph paper in order to more accurately line up the patterns;

Leather, leather substitute, suede, drape or any other material suitable for the sole;

Upper material;

Scissors, knife and awl (if very dense materials are used), needle, thread (drawing would be ideal, but strong silk or cotton in several folds will also work), pins (regular and safety pins), tailor's chalk or pencil (you can take a piece dry soap), glue;

Decorative elements (if necessary);

Homemade slippers made from... ordinary towels!

Old slippers are useful for more than just cutting out patterns. For example, for this model of slippers you will have to cut off the top, leaving a rubber sole, which will then need to be covered with a towel, as shown in the picture:

It is not recommended to choose a very old, worn-out towel for the product - large abrasions on the terry fabric will not look very presentable. If the material has become very matted over time, it should be steamed with an iron and then thoroughly combed with a fine comb - this usually helps to bring even stale fabric back to life.

Unfortunately, such slippers are not suitable for wearing in homes with wooden floors - even well-sanded boards can cling to the material, which will ultimately greatly reduce the life of the shoes. However, if you still like this model, it is recommended to do “prevention” - on the sole in the place where it comes into contact with the floor, you should sew or glue hard leather or drape in several layers. After the improvised outsole wears out, you can simply replace it.

Advice: When gluing polymer materials (artificial leather, rubber, etc.) to each other, the so-called “second” glue should be used. The fact is that it works on the principle of a very powerful solvent, simply welding both layers into one, so this gluing will last much longer.

If there are no problems with the floors, then you can pay attention to the next model. It may rightly seem short-lived, but it is easy and quick to sew. For it, as shown in the picture, you will need cotton fabric of two colors - it is better to take a plain one for the front side and with a printed pattern for the inside:

But to make the following models, you can use an old sweater lying around in the closet. Before sewing, the fabric should be inspected for minor defects, washed if necessary and ironed. If you will be using a sewing machine for sewing, it is worth buying needles designed for knitwear. In addition, the edges of the fabric must be carefully processed, otherwise it will crumble before the slippers are ready. An overlocker is unlikely to be suitable in this case, so the edge can be machined with a zigzag stitch or a hand-stitched stitch, and then coated with special fabric glue, making sure to wait until it dries completely. Only after this can you start sewing such bright house slippers, made like the popular “slips”:

Or these original ones, not even slippers, but real boots, somewhat reminiscent of UGG boots:

Fans of Far North motifs, in order to bring the product as close as possible to boots, can trim their slippers with fur - you only need a little bit of it, and you can even use scraps. In addition, home shoes will also be decorated with embroidery in the form of traditional deer and snowflakes, which can be done with metallic thread.

Advice: if the floors are cold and your feet are freezing, you can add a lining made of natural or faux fur to the design of your homemade slippers. If the shoes are made according to the principle of boots, as, for example, shown above, then the lining pattern can be made in the shape of a boot, then inserted inside the slipper, straightened and basted in several places. However, if fur is not found, you can also insulate house shoes with synthetic padding, quilting the fabric on a sewing machine or by hand.

If making home slippers with your own hands seems a bit complicated, then you can at least practice by decorating the ones you already have:

DIY home slippers - for true connoisseurs of the traditions of the Celestial Empire

Those who are very keen on Japanese themes will certainly like the next model. It is best to make it from cotton fabric with the desired pattern, but if one is not found, you can also use silk (especially if the house is predominantly carpeted). In addition, you can paint the fabric yourself - just buy special paints or use the patchwork technique. In the latter case, all the scraps of fabric available in the house will be used, which are difficult to use for sewing something large in size. The necessary elements are basted into place and then sewn on with a zigzag stitch. The process of creating Japanese slippers is shown in detail in the picture:

And finally, the last model is extremely easy to sew, and therefore perfect for beginners. In order to make these home slippers with your own hands, you will only need a standard set of tools and materials (scissors, needle, thread), as well as very thick felt in two colors. The resulting slippers are perfect for people who, for one reason or another, are uncomfortable with closed models:

Slippers are comfortable house shoes. Unfortunately, store-bought options very often do not satisfy with their functionality and convenience. Therefore, you have to take this matter into your own hands and make your own slippers. In addition, you can make your own slippers as a special gift for someone; although the item is extraordinary, it contains the “warmth” of your hands, which may be more pleasant than an ordinary store-bought product.
We will tell you how to make slippers with your own hands in this article, and we will offer you several options. Choose which one is right for you.

Lasso Slippers by Gaspard Tiné-Berès

To create slippers you will need a piece of soft felt and a long lace.

The first step is to cut a pattern from a piece of felt. Make the base according to the size of the foot, the height of the sides of the slippers is to your taste - 6-7 cm or more or less.

Then you cut out the instep of the foot. You should probably first carry out the pattern operation on the auxiliary material, and when you are satisfied with it, cut out the felt. Well, then, just tie the parts of the slippers together with a lace.

That's all.

Knitted slippers with your own hands

You will need perforated insoles, a piece of fabric, a hook and thread.

The insoles are applied to the fabric, and we cut out the inner part.

Baste the fabric with the insole.

We knit the details of the slippers. Five air loops are cast on and then adjusted to size.

The front parts of the slippers are decorated with knitted bows.

The edging is knitted...

... and the back of the slippers.

Sew the front part of the slippers to the sides.

Everything is ready.

DIY “Sunflower” slippers

As you understand, for such bright slippers you will need felt of different colors. Prepare it. We take measurements from the leg and make a pattern.

Green felt is used to make the sole, heel, and front part. Yellow felt is used for the sole and for making a sunflower. Brown felt is also used for making sunflowers. Then we sew the apron and back to the sole using a welt stitch. The green sole and yellow sole are also joined with a welt seam or glued.
How to make a sunflower is probably not worth telling. Everything is quite obvious.

As you can see, they turned out to be unusual bright slippers.

DIY Floral Slippers

We take measurements from the leg and make a pattern.

Yellow felt is used to make the sole and forefoot. Cut out the soles of the slippers from brown felt. We sew the front part to the brown sole. Then the yellow part of the sole is sewn or glued. And the final touch is sewing on the braid. Choose the ornament yourself.

DIY “Roses” slippers

Pink fleece, pink lining fabric, white felt, and satin ribbons half a centimeter wide will be used. We take measurements from the leg and make a pattern like this.

The top of the slippers is cut out of fleece, and parts for the tongue are made from lining fabric. The soles and edges of the slippers are cut out of white felt. At the cut points, we connect the parts with pink tape using horizontal stitches and sew the edges of the slippers both top and bottom. Then we sew the top of the slipper with a satin ribbon. Glue the second layer of the sole. The top of the slippers can be decorated with some flower made of satin fabric.

Another option for DIY slippers

We prepare insoles, genuine leather, awls, threads, glue.

Having attached the insole to the leather, we cut out two leather insoles (our leather is blue)

Then we place a foam or felt insole between two leather insoles and fasten them with drops of glue. And then carefully sew around the edges of the sole.

Now we make the top of the slippers. You need to know the width of the entry and the distance from the thumb to the entry point.

Using the template we made, we cut out two pieces of leather.

We sew the edges of the upper parts like the sole - with a single crochet.

The next stage is stitching the parts together.

And the last stage is gluing the foam sole.

In fact, there are a great many options for slippers; we have presented only a part of the possible options. Perhaps you will come up with something of your own or use an existing idea, in any case, these slippers will turn out to be special, we are sure of it.
