How to distinguish quality perfumes from fakes. Fake perfume - what disappointment smells like

Good perfumes last a long time, have a subtle aroma and change shades of smells after a while. It is for this that people pay the money that manufacturers ask for real perfumes. However, how to distinguish a fake perfume from the original? After all, you don’t want to pay the same money for a diluted or fake perfume. This is exactly what we will talk about in this article.

Distinguishing a fake perfume from the original is not so difficult, although the accomplices have succeeded in this matter. There are a large number of signs that clearly indicate that the spirits are real. You can easily see them on non-original perfumes, the main thing is to carefully read the article below.

You can buy a fake perfume not only in the stalls of subway crossings, but also in well-known perfume chains. At the same time, the best perfumes are most often faked, such as Chanel No. 5, Prada, Yves Saint Laurent, Lacoste, Versace and many others.

There are at least 15 factors that clearly indicate the non-original perfume. We will consider each of them in detail so that you can accurately identify real perfumes and protect yourself from fakes.

How to distinguish a fake perfume by a barcode

A barcode is a unique code that is applied to any product in order to scan and obtain information about it. In the sequence of white and black stripes, information about the country of origin, product code, etc. is encrypted. However, under the linear barcode there is a digital code by which you can determine the original perfume or a fake.

  1. The original is never produced in a foreign country. There are only a few brands that are known to bottle perfumes in other countries, so check the brand registration information and compare it with the information on the packaging. The country code consists of 2-3 digits after the first;
  2. One of the factors that indicates the original is a barcode on a white background;
  3. The information on the package in the barcode must match the country number on the bottom of the vial.

On non-original perfumes, a barcode can also be forged, so it cannot be considered a 100% indicator of originality.

  1. Pay attention to the packaging cellophane - this is one of the main indicators of a fake. Carefully packed cardboard without wrinkles and bulges indicates the original perfume;
  2. It is also worth looking at the seam, which should be fused parallel to the edge of the package and be perfectly even. Also, the seams are not glued, but rather melted, which speaks of the high-quality packaging technology and the originality of the perfume;
  3. Many well-known brands such as Davidoff, Clinique, Lacoste, Hugo Boss do not use polyethylene to pack the bottle;
  4. The cellophane should also have a stamp sticker or an engraved batch serial number on the cardboard.

Copy, imitation and perfume version are fakes!

Many fakes are called beautiful words that can confuse buyers. Copy, version and imitation of perfumes are often fakes of original perfumes.

  • Copy- this is perfumery with a similar smell, bottle or packaging, but in Ukraine it is forbidden to pass off a copy as an original;
  • Version- These are perfumes that repeat the smell, but are the original. Versions are poured into other bottles;
  • Imitation- an attempt to fake the original perfume packaging and bottle, but not the smell.

Bottle as an indicator of original perfumery

The bottle most often gives out a fake, since the production of high-quality bottles and caps is an expensive procedure. Pay attention to the following factors:

  • The glass should be even, without seams and drips (very few perfume manufacturers have seams, for example, Nina Ricci and Amouage);
  • Bottle defects are 100% evidence of a fake, as well-known brands do not allow such oversights;
  • Bubbles in glass;
  • The presence of dull areas of glass;
  • The bottom is too thick;
  • Glass is not colored, but painted;
  • Plastic bottle.

The bottle cap and sprayer also eloquently indicate a fake:

  • The lid or spray arm is screwed on badly or crookedly;
  • Too light and fragile cover;
  • Burrs, bumps, crumbs on plastic;
  • The tube in the vial should reach the bottom and bend;
  • When the original perfume is first sprayed, air comes out;
  • The rim under the atomizer should not dangle and scroll without effort.

Price of original perfume

Unscrupulous perfume sellers often come up with excuses to sell the original perfume at a low price. This may be a share, confiscation, bankrupt of the manufacturer, etc. The low price of Duty Free perfumes should also alert, which is a gross deception. The real price of original perfumes is high, and the sale of perfumes with a discount of more than 30% should already alert, since such trade is unprofitable.

To reduce the cost of original perfumes or eau de toilette, manufacturers produce a smaller volume, which costs no less than a part of a similar fragrance.

Pay attention to the presence of the same price for perfume products of different brands. Such a coincidence is also a sign of a fake.

Weak assortment of sold perfumes

If you see only a few well-known brands in a perfume shop, such as Giorgio Armani, Chanel, Christian Dior and a few others, but you cannot find your favorite Cartier, Chopard, Victoria's Secret, Marc Jacobs, Juicy Couture, then there is a high probability of buying a fake.

Undoubtedly, no one wants to buy a fake for a lot of money. The market is “flooded” with perfumes of dubious production. And fake toilet water has become commonplace. But in most cases, this applies only to well-known brands and widely advertised perfumes. Among a wide range of branded perfumes from fakes, it is quite difficult to distinguish. But this is quite possible, you just have to be more careful and obvious falsifications will betray themselves.

There are three types of fakes: copy, version and variation:

Fake toilet water, signs of fake

It is recommended to purchase perfume in trusted stores and boutiques. . If you buy perfume in the nearest street shop or market, you should not count on the originality of the fragrance. The main reason for the prosperous existence of fakes is the constant desire to save money. Therefore, first find out the price, if it is 50% lower, then you are being deceived.

An exception may be only online stores, where there are no additional costs for renting trading floors, sellers, etc., but even in this case, the savings may not exceed 25-30%. The second option for "street sales" is allegedly "customs confiscated or released without a license." By this, sellers are trying to explain the absence on the packaging of the main distinguishing signs of the brand origin of their fakes. There is no such category - this is the most common counterfeit.

Manufacturers of branded perfumes do not save on packaging. This is one of the first signs of how to distinguish a fake toilet water. A self-respecting brand will not put up for sale an expensive perfume in a cheap box. Usually, high-quality paper made of thick, even and smooth cardboard is used for this. The text is well and clearly printed, without blots, irregularities and vagueness.

Inscriptions, must be the presence of:

  • returnable container sign (look closely, there are two arrows in a circle on the box);
  • barcode, the first 2-3 digits of which indicate the country of manufacture;
  • batch number, pay special attention to this alleged trifle. It should be clearly squeezed out or punched in black italics on the box and match the number on the bottle itself (on the back). If it is vague or not at all, then it is a fake;
  • the composition of the product is indicated;
  • the company logo is made with high quality, all lines are clearly and accurately drawn. Fake eau de toilette is usually pasted over with various stickers, there is no such thing on a branded perfume, the logo is printed on the package.

Fake toilet water packaging

Name.

The copy is easy to recognize by the inscription. For example, in France "parfume" is usually written without the last "e". In any case, each box must be written in French or English: "Made in France". But, if instead of the inscription: "Made in France" you see a simple inscription - "France", then the origin of such a perfume is very doubtful. It is in such confiscations that the name of the trademark, logo or product name is intentionally distorted - take a closer look (the logo may be rotated, a different color or absent altogether). For general development, read "".

Cellophane.

Usually the box is protected by an outer cellophane wrapper that fits snugly around the box, and the edges are neatly sealed at the factory. Many people know how to identify a fake eau de toilette without opening the bottle. If the packaging is wrapped carelessly and there are visible traces of glue on it, it is a fake. But the absence of cellophane is not yet a sign of falsification - branded packaging can be like that.

Cardboard.

The case-box is made of high-quality cardboard. Inside, all cutouts, inserts and other details are highly technical, the inscriptions are clearly printed. Contact those stores that have demo packaging. This means that you will be able to check its internal state and the vial itself. If the perfume has an atomizer, then it is possible to evaluate its work. Usually it is protected by a metal ring. Please note that if the tube inside the bottle is longer and a “rough deflection” is clearly visible along the bottom of the container, this is another reason that you are holding a fake in your hands. The cardboard should fit perfectly under the branded bottle and be well fixed on the stand. Therefore, when shaken, it does not hang out and rattles like a Christmas toy.

Bottle.

Appreciate the purity and transparency of the glass. It should not have defects in the form of bumps, bubbles or cloudiness. Transparency is an important condition not only for glass, but also for the liquid inside the vial, so it should not be cloudy or with sediment.

Now, how to identify a fake eau de toilette by the color schemes of perfumes. The liquid inside the vial can be mostly fawn to deep yellow in color. Coloring pigments are sometimes added to achieve pinkish, lilac or green shades, but these are always soft, pleasant colors. Therefore, if your eyes are pleased with a brightly “chemical” color, this should alert you, since perfume houses do not choose cheap, caustic colors for their masterpieces.

Fake toilet water, bottle and contents

With The easiest way to distinguish a fake toilet water from the original is to put it in the refrigerator, if the liquid becomes cloudy, this is a sure sign of fake products. Feel free to return your purchase. The bottle and box must have a designation of its capacity (in milliliters). There is another sign that betrays itself - if the glass of the original product is thought out in color, then it is already made in color and does not need to be painted over the glass. If you see paint on the glass, it is 100% counterfeit.

The complex design of the bottle is developed by the best employees of perfume houses in order not only to interest the client. The most important priority is that such works of art are very costly and difficult to fake. Each bottle of perfume has its own license plate, which is applied not to the label, but to the glass.

Smell

First, what you should pay attention to - the original eau de parfum is not closed with a metal cap, since when it comes into contact with the metal, the contents oxidize and deteriorate.

Second- the first two “zilch” are always idle. The process of manufacturing perfumery products is very complex, it requires large financial costs, the availability of special equipment and experienced employees. Basement craftsmen do not have this, it is not profitable for them to spend so much time and effort to purify alcohol, they do not wait for the aroma and alcohol to combine, etc. Therefore, such a fake will not keep its smell for long. From the first minutes of applying such toilet water, it will begin to give off alcohol, since by and large it consists of it.

Not everyone knows how to identify a fake toilet water, so they are sadly mistaken. But a favorite smell is always easy to recognize. For us, it is enchanting, filled with feelings, and therefore evokes positive emotions. This result is obtained through inspired creation, scientific regularity and high-tech process.

fragrance notes

Any original fragrance has a three-level structure: top notes come first, then heart notes, and only after that - base notes. The upper ones envelop our sense of smell for the first two minutes, then the “heart notes” are revealed. They work for two or three hours. This marvelous accompaniment is completed by base notes that last for more than four hours.

Fakes contain only top notes, so they quickly disappear. As for the originality of fragrances, your skin can change the smell of perfume if you smoke, the food you eat on a daily basis is spicy or high-calorie. The smell may change due to careless storage of eau de toilette. Therefore, you may not recognize your favorite fragrance, because the perfume box was not far from the battery, the tester was on a display case that was warmed up by lamps or sunlight. The recognition of one's smell still depends on health in general, for example, hormonal levels.

It's no secret that the modern perfume market has a large part of counterfeit products. Many sellers openly declare that their product is an exact copy of the original, the so-called Class A or AA perfume.

Often even the packaging is made in accordance with the standard. The only difference between this product and the genuine one is the duration of the fragrance.

Fake in the first place is easy to identify by the cost of perfume. Naturally, a large bottle of original perfume cannot cost 500-800 rubles. You should not even ask a similar question at a retail outlet that sells products at a price below 1,500 rubles. Since all the perfumes that are called “license”, “version”, “copy” have nothing to do with a real designer perfume.

In contact with

Genuine perfume by Lancome

You can understand people who initially know that they are acquiring a fake, even the best one. But it is very disappointing if a fake comes across instead of the original version. After all, often such products are used as a gift for a loved one.

Before you buy perfume, you should familiarize yourself with the basic rules that will distinguish a designer product from a fake. There are many ways to check the authenticity of a product.

First of all, you can determine the originality of a perfume by its packaging:

    1. Before making a purchase, you need to find out as much information as possible about the product of interest. It is worth asking what distinguishing features are in the package and on the bottle, holograms, logos, embossing or notches. After the coveted perfume bottle is on hand, all this knowledge should be applied. It is best to make purchases of perfumes in specialized outlets where you can use testers.

Note: it is the purchase that needs to be checked, and not the product offered as a sampler. And it is best to do this before paying at the checkout of the store.

Some sellers and manufacturers may present their low-quality product or goods as a “replica”, “copy”, “confiscation”. All these terms have nothing to do with branded perfumes and should alert you at the time of purchase. You should pay attention to several important points.

Perfume Information

You need to prepare for a trip to a store or a perfume boutique in advance. If the brand and the name of the perfume have already been chosen, just go to the official website of the brand, read the description of the perfume there, take a closer look at the packaging, design and configuration of the bottle.

Many manufacturers supply their fragrances with holograms, embossing, ribbons, brand names and other security features. This can also be found on the website. Online reviews posted by other buyers who have fallen victim to low-quality perfumes will also help.

Package

Each copy of the perfume (with the exception of samplers) is placed in a cardboard box wrapped in cellophane. The cellophane wrapper should be thin and transparent, fit snugly against the cardboard, not bulge, move out or fold. All seams must be fastened not with glue, but by thermal soldering.

A seam 5 mm wide and thicker, with uneven edges, traces of glue indicates a fake.

Cardboard packaging for branded perfumes is made from expensive snow-white thick cardboard on the wrong side. All drawings, text inscriptions, icons and logos are printed directly on cardboard. Labels on branded packaging are not allowed. The inner packaging of branded perfumes is equipped with a lodgment insert. It does not allow the bottle to hang out inside and protects it from damage.

Lettering, design and barcode

All information printed on the packaging must match the data indicated on the official website:

  • place of manufacture;
  • vial volume;
  • composition;
  • concentration of essential oils;
  • date of manufacture;
  • best before date.

Imported products must be marked with certification marks, regulatory GOST and have a label in the language of the country in which it is sold.

All letters and inscriptions must be printed with a high degree of clarity, without smeared letters, with the correct color reproduction.

By the barcode (by the first digits) you can identify the country in which the perfume was made:

  • France - 30-37;
  • Italy - 80-83;
  • Spain - 84;
  • Great Britain - 50;
  • Latvia - 475;
  • Germany - 400-440;
  • Bulgaria - 380;
  • USA - 00-09;
  • UAE - 629.

The carton contains a serial number of numbers and letters. In the original, it matches the same number on the bottle. Information about the country of origin is applied in full (“Made in France”, not just “France”).

The quality of the bottle and the inscription on it

What does the signature bottle look like?

  • regular shape with symmetrical sides;
  • no bubbles, scratches, damage;
  • with a stable bottom;
  • with clear inscriptions;
  • with well-lapped parts of the lid and atomizer, which does not allow the liquid to spill.

At the bottom of the bottle, in the form of an engraving or a sticker, the contact details of the trademark, volume, serial number, brand name are indicated.

The uneven surface of the vessel, poorly painted inscriptions, the flimsy design of the lid and spray gun are all signs of a fake.

The same rule applies to the lid - it must be solid, regular in shape, even, symmetrical and without burrs.

A visual comparison of the bottle design with the original version will also help. Usually a complex design is difficult to fake, so a fake is easy to distinguish.

Liquid color

If earlier the color of perfume was predominantly golden - from fawn to dark yellow, now perfumes are produced in a variety of shades. However, brands prefer not to use too bright acid colors in the composition. Therefore, gentle shades of pink, blue, turquoise, lilac are allowed.

But the very rich “chemical” color of the liquid should arouse suspicion.

Aroma

It is not always possible to test women's perfumes before buying. But if there is such an opportunity, it is worth using it. Before assessing the smell, it is necessary to stop drinking coffee, alcohol and smoking on the day of testing, which can affect the susceptibility of the receptors.

In one day, you should not test more than 3 flavors. It is better to apply them on the back of the hand and try to feel the entire three-layer structure of the perfume. The first breath is taken immediately - the smell at first can be sharp and give off alcohol - this is normal. After 10 minutes, the smell is inhaled again - it should change, become more complex and expressive. After 5-6 hours, the aroma is finally evaluated. A good perfume will not fade during this time, but will demonstrate plume notes - woody, musky or vanilla.

Certificate

The sale of all types of goods in all countries is regulated by law. Any outlet must have a certificate for the right to sell perfumes. The seller is obliged to provide the document at the first request of the buyer.

What should be included in the certificate:

  • Product Name;
  • product group;
  • country of production and manufacturer;
  • vial volume;
  • confirmation of the quality and safety of the composition;
  • signatures and seals of control bodies.

The price of branded perfumes and elite class perfumes cannot be low. The cost of real flavors with a volume of 50 ml starts at an average of $ 50. The least likely to buy a fake is at duty-free points and in chain cosmetic stores.

How to distinguish an original perfume from a fake: distinctive features of brands

For all perfume brands, the general recommendations listed above will be relevant. But you should pay attention to some distinctive features that are characteristic of each brand of perfume.

Chanel

Perfume "Chanel" is the champion in the number of fakes in the world. When buying, you should pay attention to such points:

  • The price on the official website and at the point of sale should not differ much.
  • The liquid in the bottle of the original is homogeneous, without layering and impurities, a noble muted shade.
  • The glass has a smooth texture, the wall thickness is small, the cap is frosted with a tight thread.
  • The cap should close with a tight click and fit snugly against the dispenser.
  • All inscriptions on the vessel and packaging must be clear and not lubricated, only in French.
  • Chanel branded perfumes have a barcode and a batch code. The batch code is applied to the bottom of the box and has a convex texture.
  • Perfume must be produced and bottled exclusively in France.

Lacoste

  • The Lacoste company produces perfumes with a volume of at least 30 ml. Anything less than this volume is fake.
  • The lid of the bottle does not dangle, it closes with a characteristic click.
  • The spray tube is even, does not bend, but slightly touches the bottom.
  • The crocodile logo on all Lacoste perfumes points to the right. The logo is detailed, with a clear drawing of the teeth and eyes. On the bottle, the crocodile has a white border and a red mouth.
  • On large bottles, the logo is made of textile, and on small bottles it is drawn.

Escentric Molecules

  • The packaging cardboard on the inside must be the same color as on the outside.
  • The bottle is absolutely transparent, all the inscriptions are laser printed, clear and even, not scraped off with a sharp object.
  • The dispenser tube is transparent, barely noticeable, rests clearly on one of the corners.
  • The original Molecule perfume is available in 30 and 100 ml volumes, as well as in the form of 5 ml testers.
  • The cost of "molecular" flavors cannot be less than $60 per 100 ml.
  • In fakes, the height of the bottle is 3-5 mm larger, the bottom is very thick and convex.

Dior

Signs of the original Dior perfume:

  • The cardboard packaging has a matte finish, the lines printed on it are stamped at an angle of 30 degrees.
  • The inscriptions on the label are made in white, but not gold.
  • The CD sticker is visible on the side of the mica, not in the center.
  • The security code is located at the bottom of the package at the bottom of the package.

Dolce & Gabbana

You can distinguish the real aroma of "Dolce Gabbana" by several signs:

  • The presence of a special insert in the box, which firmly holds the bottle. If the vessel dangles inside, we have a fake.
  • The perfume lid should not be easily removed, it is made of perfectly transparent glass, not metal.
  • The durability of all original Gucci fragrances is at least 8 hours.
  • Montale

    Products of the Montal trademark have a specific design, a special metal bottle and are rarely faked. But you need to know about the signs of the original:

    • The inscriptions are embossed on the cardboard packaging - the letters are three-dimensional, slightly embossed to the touch.
    • A barcode is required. On sale, the so-called Montale decorated perfumes are sometimes found - this is a fake on which a barcode is not applied.
    • The neck of the bottle should be carefully painted, with a black nozzle.
    • The spray head should be held by a clothespin with a logo printed on it.
    • At the bottom of the vessel there should be no adhesions and irregularities, the bottom is slightly recessed inward.
    • All bottles of "Montal" are placed in a special bag with a trademark logo. It should be sewn with high quality, the threads should not stick out, and the seams should not move out.
    • All inscriptions on the back of the branded packaging are exclusively in English.

    It is quite possible to distinguish a fake perfume from the original, only with a competent approach to buying. Buying expensive perfumes impulsively is not worth it, and you can’t rely solely on the seller’s advice either. It is best to prepare for a trip to the store in advance, get acquainted with the experience of other buyers and study the official website of the manufacturer.

    The first question that worries all buyers, " Are your perfumes real or fake? Moreover, it is given in various forms: Where do you import perfumes from?" "What country is the manufacturer?" "Why are the prices lower than in the store?" "And why are the prices higher than I saw at the market?" "Do you have Holland or the Emirates?" etc.

    Of course no one wants to buy a fake for big money, and only a specially trained person will be able to determine on the move what exactly is in front of you (even a service-search dog will refuse to sniff fake perfumes - it has a too delicate sense of smell for this).

    So how can you tell a fake from an original?

    By the way, sometimes the question arises - what is a fake? Counterfeits are very often sold as " customs confiscation", "leftovers after closing", "perfume company promotion"or come up with other, more or less fantastic versions. Some sellers claim (and sometimes even tell the truth) that they do not have a fake, in " version", "copy", "license", "analogue"etc. All this is actually a fake. That is, a fake is what they try to pass off as perfume from a well-known company. original we will only count perfumery produced according to the original formula(owned by a trading house), at the enterprises of this trading house or at his request. Everything else - we consider a fake. Although this section also includes fragrances like " Climate" (Lancome) or " JaiOse" (Guy Laroche) - for the simple reason that the company that created this fragrance has officially announced that it is no longer releasing it. And she sold the right to produce a fragrance with this name to another company (from JaiOse while changing the design of the box).

    So, you see in front of you a bottle with a name that you know or have heard. Let's start to determine its authenticity.

    1. Cellophane.

    The original perfume is packed in not too dense and thick cellophane, the seam on the side (or back) is even, neat. The seam is made by a thermomethod (heating), and not by gluing. The cellophane tightly fits the box, does not wrinkle anywhere, does not stick out. The top and bottom of the cellophane is sealed with a rectangular (sometimes round) stamp.

    Attention! Some companies do not cellophane their products as a matter of principle. For example, Hugo Boss, some positions of Shiseido, Davidoff, Сlinique... Lack of cellophane does not mean fake goods.

    2. Carton packing.

    First look at title. Are there any extra letters and are they written that way. This is a kind of way for manufacturers of versions (copies) to avoid responsibility for a fake - after all, the name is different from the original, although the appearance is similar. At one of the perfume exhibitions, we counted 18 (!) Versions of the name of the popular at that time " J""adore" (beginning with J""opador)

    Examine the box very carefully. First - without removing the cellophane. On her must not be"leaked" fuzzy inscriptions, Everybody small letters and barcodes should be printed clearly. There should be no "wrong" color reproduction or "floated" colors (if this is not provided for by the design!) A number should be embossed (sometimes printed by a printer) on the bottom of the box. We will consider its meaning later.

    Then unpack the cellophane(with the permission of the seller and very carefully. Goods with broken cellophane according to the Rules of Soviet Trade, which no one bothered to cancel, are not accepted back! At the same time, make sure that it is sealed with a thermal seam, and not glued). Feel the packaging. Reputable manufacturers use special grades of cardboard for each product, so that even by touch you can determine a rough fake.

    3. Inner packing.

    Inside the box is usually inserted " construction made of cardboard, which does not allow the bottle to "run" around the box. Fakes usually save on this cardboard (it is not visible in the photo or the showcase!) And if there is a fake, it is made of very cheap cardboard.

    4. Bottle.

    Actually, only a very low quality fake can be determined from the packaging - the so-called "handicraft China" or "Emirates". Factory, professionally made fakes are performed at a high printing level. (Remember the classic: "With the modern development of printing in the West ...") And only a professional can distinguish a fake of this level at a glance. Whom most of us are not. But this is not necessary! It is enough just to carefully look at the bottle.

    On the original vial NO streaks, glass irregularities(as on a beer bottle) casting defects, discoloration, bubbles in the glass! In order to make a high-quality bottle, you need to place an order at a large glass factory, in a huge batch (or make each bottle by hand, which will immediately raise its cost to an unprofitable height for fakes). And labels on the bottle, applied in artisanal conditions, usually "jump". They can be half-erased, fuzzy, uneven.

    4. Bottle cap.

    This, at first glance, not the most important accessory immediately gives out a fake. Firstly, not only buyers, but also manufacturers of fakes consider it not the most important, and they pay less attention to it during manufacture. Secondly, in the manufacture of the cap, each designer uses a special type of plastic, which is usually patented and is a secret no less than a perfume composition. Thirdly, the production of caps uses technology that is usually inaccessible to artisanal manufacturers. Therefore, their lid turns out to be some kind of “undignified”: with bumps, burrs, poorly painted over and lightweight (To combat the latter, I somehow saw an ordinary nut soldered into the lid from the inside with a soldering iron!).

    Important! If you paid attention, then sometimes in stores they sell " Tester". In many cases they come without a cap and in "economical" or "industrial" packaging - a white or gray box with a black and white name. The price of a Tester is usually two times lower than for a perfume of the same volume in a box. Are they fake, no it's a normal perfume. It's just that they should be used in stores as "consumables" - to enable the buyer to get acquainted with the aroma (including check its durability) before the purchase. So a tester, by definition, cannot be "less resistant". And since the tester does not have a beautiful box and it was not originally intended for retail sale (it says "Tester. Not For Sale" on it), wholesale companies sell it at a lower price. And this is a godsend for a person who is looking for a fragrance for himself, and not for a gift.

    5. Spray.

    The spray (sprayer) at the bottle should be neat, tightly adhere to the bottle, and be made in the general design. And not look like taken from the "triple cologne." At the first check, the first few clicks (usually 2-3) may be without "puff" - this is normal, the air that remains in the spray during factory assembly comes out. It is advisable to check the operation of the spray (as, by the way, it is indicated in the "Rules of Trade") - very rarely, but there is a factory defect in branded products. It will be a shame if you donate perfume that cannot be used.

    6. Batch serial number.

    Remember some letters and numbers who were for some reason printed on the box(by embossing or by a printer), and which we remembered during the external examination of the box? Now turn the bottle upside down. Usually on the bottom(sometimes on the side) vial applied (painted, printed, embossed, laser cut, etc.) same number. These two numbers must match. This is another protection against crafts and at the same time a means to track the distribution channels of your product for large companies. This is where we might come in handy.

    7. Aroma.

    Finally! That's what we've been doing all this for. Indeed, in the end, it was for the sake of aroma, this almost elusive, impalpable and invisible substance, that we started buying perfumes! So why do we check it last? Simply because it is the most difficult to determine the originality of a fragrance. Here we (non-professionals) can only focus on the criterion like-dislike. Perception of aroma is quite an individual matter. Of course, there are some general rules, general patterns, general criteria ... But the fact of the matter is that these general ones can change in each specific case. And the aroma can only be judged by whether you personally like it. Any modern high-quality fragrance (more precisely, a perfume composition) from many ingredients. From 40 to 1000 and more (Jean Patou, 1000 - consists of exactly 1000 different components). A fake, as a rule, is limited to 5-10 components that "imitate" the top note of the fragrance that you first hear from the bottle or immediately after application. Therefore, it is better to hold the fragrance on the body for 10-15 minutes to see if it changes too much during this time. And, of course, to feel whether it differs from what you want to hear. And, once again, do you like it.

    8. Price and volume.

    Is price a guarantee of quality? It's better to think for yourself. If the criterion of quality was the price, then the fakes would simply be sold more expensive than the originals. And that's it. Since the price of original products is calculated based on the cost, transportation costs, customs clearance, payment for licenses and certificates, the cost of warehousing, storage, rent of retail space, employee salaries, etc.

    That price for a fake consists of an input price (it is negligible, about $5 already in Ukraine after transportation) and the desire to earn money. As a result, the same Chanel Chance 100 ml can cost from 80 to 450 UAH. And more.

    But it's all good, you say. But we are talking about online shopping. . How do you spot all these signs? that you listed here?
    There are two characteristic signs for an online store.

    9. The presence of different volumes of the same flavor!

    Look closely at online store assortment. If these are normal deliveries, then in the range there will be bottles of different sizes- usually from 30 (there are 25 or 35) milliliters and up to large ones - 100, 150, 200 ml. If the assortment contains only the "most profitable" 100, 90, 80 milliliters - you are almost certainly offered fakes that have nothing in common (except for the name) with the real flavor. Also, pay attention to price proportionality- 30 ml is cheaper than 50, and 50 is cheaper than 100. Testers, for example, with a volume of 100 ml usually cost about the same as 50 ml of the composition in a regular package. (By the way, this rule will apply and when buying at a subway kiosk, and in the market, and in any small shop or when buying "from hand" from a "representative of a wholesale company").

    10. The price of compositions of different brands should be different!

    Compare prices for compositions of different brands. If the prices of goods from different firms (for example, Chanel and Azzaro) are approximately the same, then most likely you are on " giveaway left spill".

    So, summarizing what has been written here, how to act when buying perfumes in an online store? Of course, this is my personal opinion, but I would act in the following sequence:

    1 . Consider carefully what other (other than your chosen) fragrances are sold in the store, what volumes and at what prices. If there are only large volumes (80-100 ml) and they all cost about the same (for example, "All for 160!" or everything from 254 to 365 UAH), then this is a "Sino-Arab invasion" and you can safely go to another store. Where is the same range, for example, $10 with delivery. At least it won't hurt as much. Unless, of course, you need a cheap fake for a gift. (By the way, the phrases "Only Originals!" "100% (150%) quality guarantee!" "All goods are certified!" You should not pay special attention. Not small, tea.)

    2 . After placing an order, inspect the box in the presence of the courier. If there is any doubt about the authenticity of the goods (see paragraphs 1 and 2) - return the goods without opening the cellophane packaging.

    3 . Ask the courier if you can carefully open the package and inspect the bottle. If you get rejected, think hard. By the way, it is better to make an appointment somewhere in a more comfortable place than "the third car from the tail at the Barabashovo metro station", where you can inspect the proposed purchase without too much fuss and hustle.

    4 . Carefully open the package. Let the courier of the online store do this better, he should have some experience in this and, if necessary, a tool. Inspect the inner packaging (item 3), bottle (item 4), cap (item 5). If in doubt, ask for clarification. Each brand has its own subtleties that a professional should know. Compare the serial number on the box and vial (item 6). Only after that, check the operation of the spray, apply the composition to the skin and evaluate the quality of the fragrance. If everything suits you, you can use it with pleasure or give it with a clear conscience. You have purchased the original.

    In conclusion. Why not take a fake if you like the flavor?

    There are several reasons.

    First of all I just don't want to be deceived.

    Secondly, aroma persistence. Most fakes are completely weathered within an hour.

    Thirdly, smell change. Not all fakes have poor durability. The fact is that in their manufacture the same ingredients are used as in the "big" perfumery. Just in different proportions. And the so-called "binding" substances, which are necessarily used in perfumery compositions, with the wrong dosage, can remain on the body much longer than the quickly eroding components of the "top note". As a result, after a fairly short time, instead of a perfume composition, you are left with a smell that strongly resembles cat urine. Alas, this is the smell that gives ambergris (natural or synthetic - it doesn’t matter), which is almost always part of any fragrance. And if we also take into account that a person’s sense of smell does not capture (more precisely, a person stops noticing) the smell that surrounds him for a long time, then Imagine how others will perceive you! Even on a subconscious level! And do you need it? Did you buy a bottle for this?
