Happy child 27.12.2017

Dear readers, today we continue the topic of creating decorative New Year’s snowflakes. In the previous master class we learned how to make beautiful flat snowflakes, but now they will be even more interesting, since they will be done in volume. Artist Anna Pavlovskikh will tell us how to make a three-dimensional snowflake out of paper. I give her the floor.

I am again pleased to welcome readers of Irina’s blog. Preparations for the New Year are in full swing, and there is so much to do. Think over the menu for the holiday, choose gifts for family and friends, find a new outfit and, of course, create an atmosphere of celebration and comfort at home and at work. In today's tutorial you will find ideas for the last task. We will see how easy it is to make voluminous paper snowflakes with your own hands.

How to make a beautiful paper snowflake

There are different types of voluminous paper snowflakes and methods for making them, and now we will look at each of them in more detail.

Materials we will need:

  • white or colored printing paper;
  • stationery scissors;
  • ruler;
  • pencil;
  • eraser;
  • threads;
  • glue stick.

Volumetric kirigami snowflake made of two parts

To make such a three-dimensional paper snowflake with your own hands, you need to prepare two square sheets of paper, since the snowflake will be made from two identical three-dimensional parts glued together.

You must first make the first piece from a square. To do this, fold it in half diagonally. Fold the resulting triangle in half two more times.

On such a blank you need to apply a design that will be cut through. It is very important that it is from the fold side that the cuts do not reach the end of the part, since this will be the central part of the snowflake.

Cut along the marked lines with scissors and unfold the workpiece. Fold the central petal strips and glue them to the center. Make the second part in a similar way. Glue the two parts together, slightly moving the petals.

Fan snowflake

To create this spectacular three-dimensional snowflake, you need to fold 2 sheets of office paper crosswise like an accordion. On the resulting accordion we draw patterns for cutting. Using scissors, cut along the marked lines. From the second sheet we cut out a similar pattern.

We connect two accordions in the center, rewinding them with threads. We straighten the accordion and glue it in the right places.

Snowflake made of modules

To solve the problem of how to make a large paper snowflake, you need to prepare the following materials:

  • 6 blue square sheets of paper;
  • 6 white sheets;
  • a small circle of blue paper;
  • glue.

First, make 6 identical modules from blue paper. To do this, you need to fold the square diagonally and unfold it. Fold the sides to the line marked by the fold. Unfold the workpiece and fold the sides towards the center to form a diamond shape. Turn the piece over again and bend the top layers to the sides. Make 5 more parts using this principle.

Now let's start making white modules that will be located in the center of the snowflake. Fold the square diagonally and unfold it. Bend the corners of the square towards the center. Turn the workpiece over to the reverse side. Fold the sides towards the center. On the reverse side, turn the sides inside out. And bend them towards the center line. It is necessary to make six such modules.

Glue the blue parts onto the circle, evenly distributing it. We glue white modules on top between the blue ones. The center of the snowflake can be decorated as desired.

Snowflake made from paper bags

For such a voluminous paper snowflake, you need to prepare 10 paper bags. To make them, take half a sheet of office paper. Place the sheet horizontally and mark 10 and 11 cm from the left edge.

We bend the left side to the 11 cm mark, and the right side to the 10 cm mark. Thus, one edge should overlap the other, carefully glue it in this place.

For the resulting rectangle, make marks from each edge at a distance of 4 cm and also fold along these marks. Turn the resulting folds inside the bag. Use a stapler to secure one edge of the bag.

You need to make a template from cardboard according to the measurements of the bag. Measure the size of the resulting rectangle and draw it on cardboard. Draw and cut out patterns on cardboard. Trace a cardboard template onto each of the ten bags. Lubricate each package cut out according to the template with glue along the center line and glue it with the next one, placing them exactly on top of each other. Unfold the snowflake and connect it with a stapler.

Snowflake made from paper bags

In order to make such a beautiful snowflake out of paper, prepare eight squares of two colors and two sizes - larger and smaller. Roll them into little balls so that one corner goes out. First fasten the large bags in the center in a circle, and glue the small ones on them. Decorate the finished snowflake with beads, rhinestones and sequins.

Volumetric snowflake made of paper strips

Cut strips of paper 7mm wide. The length of the strips can be different, you can experiment here. The idea of this snowflake is to fold and glue a loop from each strip and connect these loops in a circle. You can alternate different sizes and colors of these loops. The result is very unusual snowflakes.

Dear readers, now you know a variety of ways to make paper snowflakes with your own hands. I hope you will definitely decorate your home. And may joy knock on your door this New Year! I wish you bright and cheerful holidays, spend them in a warm family circle, fill yourself with energy and strength. And may all your plans come true! Happy New Year!

On the eve of the New Year holidays, everyone wants the house to be extraordinarily beautiful, cozy and fabulous. Therefore, it's time to think about what you can do to achieve your desired goal. A good option for decorating a room before the New Year holidays would be to decorate the windows with unusual designs and festive motifs, which will bring a pre-holiday mood and a New Year's fairy tale into the ordinary decor of the room.

And you don’t need to think that all home decorations can only be purchased in a store, spending a fairly impressive amount of money. It would be much better to unite with the whole family and make a variety of decorations for the house and Christmas tree yourself. You can set aside a specific day for such an activity, for example, when you plan to install the beautiful New Year's tree. And don’t forget that this is the most exciting activity!

The simplest thing you can do with your own hands is to cut out and attach snowflakes in different places. Everyone remembers how they cut them out in the garden before the holidays as a child. Today, having become parents, you can spend time with your child with benefit and pleasure, cutting out beautiful snow-white snowflakes from paper with your own hands. Kids always take part in such events with great joy.

Teaching your child to cut out a snowflake yourself is not at all difficult. To do this, you need to prepare the necessary tools and paper. As a base, you can use napkins, colored paper, or just a white sheet from an album.

The thickness of the sheet is not particularly important. But you need to know that thin sheets make the most delicate and airy snowflakes. And paper that is too thick will be difficult to cut.

You will also need a pencil and sharp scissors. After the pattern for the future snowflake is selected, the paper is folded as shown in the photo. The more folds you make, the more interesting and delicate the snowflake will turn out to be.

The size of the future decoration depends on how large the sheet is initially selected. In this case, the choice is influenced only by the desire to have a large or small snowflake.

Once the design is on the paper, we begin cutting. This process requires special care and precision. Under no circumstances should you cut off the edges of the paper at the folds, as the snowflake may simply fall apart.

Children really enjoy this process. After all, in the end you will get a beauty with your own hands, which will be so nice to decorate a Christmas tree, windows or walls in a room.

It should be noted that such a seemingly simple activity as cutting out snowflakes from paper with your own hands is a great opportunity to develop a child’s imagination, sense of beauty and artistic taste.

You can and should develop your child’s abilities at home, but various clubs in the garden and school will only help raise the level and hone the child’s talents.

In addition to simply cutting out paper, a child can be interested in making three-dimensional models of snowflakes. Such decorations are designed for older children and adults. But that doesn’t make them any less interesting or beautiful.

The same openwork snowflakes made of paper are taken as a basis, the design is transferred, for example, to polystyrene foam or polystyrene foam. Using a sharp knife, all the necessary elements are cut out, and the result is unusually beautiful, voluminous snowflakes.

They can be left white, but if you connect the kids and all together paint them with bright colors, then such decorative elements will simply surprise with their unusual design. And the time spent creating them will unite all family members. The result of your work will be unique.

Do-it-yourself volumetric paper snowflakes

In this master class we will make such a heart with a snowflake. It can be used as a bag for a small gift or simply as a DIY Christmas tree decoration.

First you need to print out this diagram.

We transfer the diagram onto paper and cut it out.

The result is two identical blanks.

To fasten them together, we make cuts - on one side from the top to half the snowflake, on the other - from the bottom to half the snowflake.

We collect the finished volumetric snowflake, threading it into each other.

Attach the handle.

Your DIY paper snowflake is ready!

How to make a 3-D snowflake with your own hands

Modern technologies have reached such a seemingly simple task as creating a snowflake. As the name suggests, 3-D snowflakes are a more complex, but very effective technique, thanks to which the manufactured decor is distinguished by a special elegance of lines and rather unusual shapes.

What might you need to make a snowflake with a 3D effect?

Prepare a square sheet of paper of the desired color, a pencil and ruler, scissors or a sharp paper knife, and glue. The work of making 3-D snowflakes is very painstaking and requires a lot of patience.

The first step is to draw a sheet of paper into squares. We will need 6 identical squares. Then the following diagram is applied. It can be printed.

Fold the square in half diagonally and transfer the diagram as shown in the figure. Fold in half again.

The next step is to cut parallel lines. The cuts should be made in such a way that they are directed towards each other, but do not converge completely.

We connect and glue the corners of the first small square.

Then we turn it over and glue the corners of the next square.

And so on in order until all the corners are glued together.

To make the snowflake voluminous, you need to very carefully glue the corners of all the squares. The result is six snowflakes, which, when glued together, form a three-dimensional 3-D figure.

We connect the corners of all the blanks together.

In order for the figure to keep its shape and not fall apart, you need to additionally glue the sides of the snowflake.

That's all, our 3-D paper snowflake is ready!

By coming up with various patterns, painting the figure with paints and even decorating with beads, you can not only create a very beautiful New Year’s decoration, but also help develop your child’s imagination and sense of style.

Paper snowflakes - kirigami instructions

Snowflakes - Kirigami is a fairly simple way to quickly and effortlessly make a lot of beautiful decorations. The highlight of this type of snowflakes is the selection of paper. For snowflakes - kirigami you need bright colored paper.

It can be colored only on one side, but you can choose paper with rich colors on both sides.

Take an A4 sheet and fold it as shown in the photo.

Cut out a square and fold it in half diagonally.

Fold it two more times.

Then we print out and transfer this diagram to the finished workpiece.

The next stage is to cut out patterns on the workpiece using nail scissors.

After carefully cutting out the snowflake, unfold it.

Fold the resulting corners as in the photo.

A snowflake can be decorated with stasis, beads, and Christmas tree tinsel, and then it will become the central decoration of your New Year’s home.

2 more options for DIY kirigami snowflakes:

The light, airy figurine of a ballerina is very beautiful. If you combine two types of a beautiful snowflake and a ballerina figurine, the effect can exceed all expectations.

It takes a lot of time to make this type of decoration. But the work of cutting it out is quite simple, even a child can do it. It’s not just single figures that look very impressive, but a whole garland of graceful ballerinas.

What you need to prepare for work:

  • template of a dancing ballerina figure;
  • thin white paper for a ballerina's tutu. Multi-layer paper napkins work very well;
  • thin white cardboard;
  • scissors.

Select a ballerina figurine template. You can find a large number of options on the Internet. Simply copy the selected template into a text document, format and print. But it’s much more interesting to draw a sketch yourself. Transfer the template to cardboard and cut it out.

It is very important that the cardboard is white on both sides, since the snowflake is voluminous and clearly visible from any side. The size of the figurine is optional. There are no restrictions in this matter.

Decorating your home for the holidays is not an easy task, but nothing is easier if you figure out how to make a paper snowflake - this decor looks attractive and has been relevant for many years. Moreover, you can make not just ordinary flat decorations, but also voluminous ones. By the way, they can be used in interior decoration, a festive table, or even decorate a Christmas tree with them.

Classic paper version

Traditional garlands from paper leaves have been cut out for several generations and are the most popular type of decoration. It's best to get the whole family together and do this activity - this way you can have a good time and make snowflakes with your own hands - with different designs.

Traditional decorations are made by folding a sheet of paper six times - you can see patterns of snowflakes. However, if you want to get a more sophisticated decor, you should not stop at the classic options; you can quite easily fold the sheet any number of times - this way the snowflakes for the New Year will turn out to be varied.

What you need to make paper snowflakes yourself:

  • paper - simple office white paper is suitable, as well as an album for children's creativity. Particularly dense varieties like watercolor ones should not be taken - such a blank will not be very easy to bend and cut.
  • breadboard knife and stationery scissors - directly for cutting. If you plan to make paper snowflakes with your children, make sure they have scissors with rounded ends.
  • pencil and eraser - for applying markings and patterns to the workpiece.

Several ways to create

How to make a beautiful snowflake out of paper if you have never done it before? You can go through trial and error if you have enough time and enthusiasm. Fold the sheet in any way convenient for you, and then pick up scissors or a stationery knife.

This video shows 3 ways to fold paper to cut out snowflakes:

draw the pattern and cut it out correctly:

If you don't mind bends, you can use nail scissors. First of all, you need to give your future snowflake a beautiful edge - you can simply cut it with a smooth line, cut out ice crystals or even a few teeth. It all depends on your imagination.

Then you need to cut through the main decorative elements - they can be abstract or quite logical - for example, a pattern with herringbones looks beautiful. After you cut out the main elements, add small ones - it is more convenient to do them with a stationery knife (for this you can place the workpiece on a special mat for cutting paper or on a pile of old newspapers or magazines - this will help protect the table).

Then the workpiece needs to be smoothed. A few attempts will help you get your bearings and decide on a design.

If you don’t understand how to fold paper, then you can use the simplest method - fold the paper sheet in half, then one more time - a rhombus will come out. Fold it again to form a triangle - the corner where the most folds will be the central part, and the free sides will be the edge. You can look at addition schemes to obtain elements with any number of rays.

A colored paper snowflake looks impressive - especially if it double-sided colored paper with glitter effect. By the way, the finished snowflake can be decorated with decorative glue and glitter.

Try folding paper for a snowflake according to one of the patterns and cutting out something at your discretion, and if you don’t like the result, you can always print out a beautiful pattern and make snowflakes with your own hands from paper or a blank.

Download diagrams of large snowflakes for cutting out of paper or look at stencils of beautiful snowflakes.

More volume

If you want to understand how to make a three-dimensional snowflake out of paper, then first you need to define the terms. Three-dimensional can be either an ordinary shape, which is folded after cutting and fixed in such a way that it turns out to be corrugated, or a structure that is made from several elements.

The most impressive look is the beautiful huge snowflakes (larger in size than an A4 sheet), which are assembled from several fragments. Making a large snowflake without an assembly diagram is very difficult; you need to have good spatial thinking. To understand how to make each element and understand how a three-dimensional structure is obtained from it, it is better to watch a short and understandable master class.

The best DIY voluminous snowflakes made from foil and paper come when you follow inspiration and at the same time look at the working assembly diagram.

Do you want to figure out how to cut snowflakes out of paper with an unusual design in the form of Einstein's head or with symbols from Game of Thrones? You will need snowflake templates to cut out - follow the instructions and you will get exactly the same result as in the image.

If you are confident in your own abilities, then you can try to draw your own stencils for cutting - first we fold the sheet the required number of times, then on one side we make a drawing of what should end up and cut it out.

These decorative elements can be used to decorate an apartment or a New Year tree, and they can also be used at a party - of course, if it is in the spirit of a popular fandom. However, you can go the other way and not print out the finished design, but study a step-by-step master class and figure out how a folded triangle of paper turns into familiar symbols and faces.

Try cutting snowflakes out of paper using cutting templates.

Unusual voluminous paper snowflakes can be made in another way - for example, using the quilling technique. You will need strips from which you will twist spirals and glue them together.

Use a ready-made idea with a photo or video, or come up with something of your own. To make voluminous beautiful snowflakes from colored paper with your own hands, watch the step-by-step lessons and you will learn how to make unusual snowflakes from paper and colored foil by looking at the cutting diagrams.

However, if you like to cut and have a good knife for cutting out paper, then you can make fan snowflakes with your own hands. This is a complex structure with an interesting design, which is assembled from several layers - like a children's pyramid. Each layer consists of sheets of paper folded like a fan, on which fancy patterns are cut out.

Here's a large, voluminous snowflake you can make from two sheets of paper folded like a fan:

The paper fan made in this way is glued with three or four similar fans - this will be the largest circle. By the way, you can make it quite dense, without a large number of openwork elements, or take sheets of blue or cyan color for production - subsequent layers will show through and the product will actually glow with blue light.

The next paper circle is also made from fans, but of a smaller size; you can change the depth of the fold and choose an interesting pattern. This is how several layers are made step by step - you shouldn’t do too much, 3-6 layers will be enough.

To make unique volumetric ones with your own hands, try using the quilling or origami technique in combination with the fan technique.

To assemble a snow globe, you will need a drawing - you can print it out or come up with it yourself based on the master class. All that is required for this product is to figure out how many elements you will assemble your ball from, and how you will fasten the elements together (the easiest way is to glue them), and then prepare a template for one such element.

Now you know how to cut out New Year's snowflakes and maybe even in the hottest summer you can bring a little winter decoration and comfort to your home.

Today I suggest you make voluminous snowflakes, which will also very nicely complement the festive atmosphere.

Volumetric Snowflakes for room decoration

Decorating rooms with snowflakes for the most important holiday of the year has long been a tradition. Volumetric and openwork decorations in the form of snowflakes look especially festive.

There are many ways and techniques to make such decoration, for example, origami, kirigami, quilling. And among the variety of patterns you can find feasible ones for both beginners and experienced handicraftsmen.

Volumetric paper snowflakes - easy step-by-step diagrams

You don't have to have any special skills to make beautiful snowflakes yourself. There are many different simple ways to make a simple but interesting decoration.

To work you will need:

  • Paper;
  • Pencil;
  • Glue;
  • Scissors;
  • Stapler.

Scheme one

You only need two sheets in the shape of a square.

1. Bend the sheet diagonally.

2. Fold the resulting triangle in half.

3. Draw arcs, as in the figure, the smaller the gap between these lines, the more graceful the snowflake will look.

4. Make slits along the drawn lines.

5. Straighten the sheet.

6. Take the middle of the cut arcs by the top and glue it to the middle.

7. We do this on all four sides.

8. We make another snowflake in the same way.

9. Glue them together with the reverse sides so that the tips of the snowflakes do not coincide.

Scheme two

The next method is similar to the previous one. It will require six sheets of paper.

1. Fold the paper diagonally.

2. Fold in half again.

3. Draw horizontal lines.

4. Making slits.

5. Straighten the sheet.

6. Starting from the center, bend the tops of the cut triangles, gluing them together.

In this case, it is necessary to alternate: connect the vertices, turn the sheet over and connect the next vertices, turn it over, and so on until the end.

7. Thus, you need to make an element as in Figure 7.

8. We make 5 more of the same parts.

9. We fasten the elements with ends in one middle.

As a result, we get a snowflake, voluminous and airy.

Scheme three

This method of making jewelry is intended for those who do not like to fold or cut through several layers of paper. This method requires only one sheet of paper, glue, scissors and paper clips, but the latter may not be needed.

1. Cut 20 strips of the same length.

2. Take 10 strips and intertwine them so that a square is formed in the middle of the plexus.

3. Glue the ends of the strips together as it looks in the picture.

4. Take the remaining 10 strips and repeat the procedure.

As a result, we get two identical blanks that are connected at 45 degrees relative to each other.

The snowflake is ready.

By replacing white paper with colored paper or even choosing a different material, you can achieve a completely different appearance for your decoration. Additional decor will also add individuality to each product, and an initially simple idea can become a worthy decoration.

Schemes and descriptions of making three-dimensional snowflakes for the New Year

Three-dimensional snowflakes can be made in several ways:

  • Origami;
  • Quilling;
  • Combining several snowflakes into one.

Let's start with the least labor-intensive.

Cutting snowflakes

Everyone once cut out snowflakes using stencils; they turned out openwork, graceful, but flat. It’s easy to turn a flat snowflake into a three-dimensional one, just make a few more like it and connect everything together.

In order for the snowflake to turn out even and symmetrical, you need to learn how to fold the sheet correctly.

On the resulting blank, all you have to do is draw the pattern you like and cut it out. Having thus made three or four snowflakes, all that remains is to fasten them together at the centers. You will get a spherical snowflake.

Origami

The advantage of origami is that you don’t need glue, a stapler or tape. The origami technique is not as complicated as it might seem at first glance. And the snowflakes turn out unusual. They can decorate not only rooms, but also cards or gifts.

Quilling

A very popular technique that allows you to unleash your imagination and create fabulous snowflakes. In order to create a decoration using this technique you will need:

  • Paper;
  • Pencil;
  • Ruler;
  • Scissors;
  • Chinese chopstick or toothpick (optional);
  • Glue.

The essence of the quilling technique is that the product is created from many twisted elements, which ultimately create an openwork and voluminous appearance.

1. First, draw a sheet of paper into stripes. If you want the snowflake to be the same thickness, then the stripes should be the same. If some parts of the snowflake need to be highlighted in height, then the stripes should be wider for the protruding parts.

2. Cut strips.

3. Alternately wind strips of paper onto a stick or pencil.

4. Lubricate the free end with glue and glue it so that the strip does not unfold. This is the future snowflake element.

5. Once all the strips are curled, you can shape them by flattening them or leaving them round.

6. Then all the parts are laid out in the shape of a snowflake and glued together.

The finished decoration can be decorated with sparkles or rhinestones. This technique allows you to create snowflakes that look like real ones.

Do-it-yourself volumetric snowflakes: master class for the New Year 2019

Recently, simple forms have been a sign of style. The fewer details the better. This also applies to New Year's paraphernalia. Before you start making decorations, you need to prepare:

  • Paper or cardboard with glitter;
  • Pencil;
  • Glue;
  • Ruler;
  • Scissors;
  • Compass;
  • Decorative element: half bead and tinsel.

Let's start making jewelry:

1. Using a compass, draw a circle, the radius is arbitrary.

2. Draw the resulting circle into eight identical parts, cut out small triangles, as in the figure.

3. Bend along the drawn lines.

4. From the center of each part to the slot, draw a line and bend along these lines.

5. Glue the folded parts together on the reverse side.

6. Place the resulting snowflake on a sheet of paper or cardboard and outline it.

7. Cut out the resulting shape.

8. Glue the shape obtained from the sheet to the back side of the snowflake.

9. Decorate the middle of the snowflake with half beads and tinsel.

If you combine two such snowflakes, you get a symmetrical three-dimensional snowflake.

Well, what do you think of the idea? Did you like it? Such snowflakes can be hung on a Christmas tree and decorated with windows.

How can you decorate a room on New Year’s Eve with voluminous snowflakes?

When decorating a room with voluminous snowflakes, you need to try not to overdo it so that the room does not turn into a large snowdrift.

Small snowflakes look great on a Christmas tree. If you take similar decorations of various colors, textures and sizes, then it is possible to do without traditional Christmas tree decorations.

A garland of different-sized snowflakes fits well on windows or curtains. In this case, the snowflakes should be at a sufficient distance from each other to create the effect of light falling snowflakes.

A composition made of snowflakes can take place on a bookshelf, chest of drawers or even a wall.

When setting a festive table, voluminous snowflakes can be placed in a glass vase or glass along with a garland that will highlight the snowflake.

If the room has a chandelier, then snowflakes can be hung on it. And the traditional Christmas wreath can be replaced with a wreath of snowflakes.

When decorating a room, it is important to maintain harmony and not use all possible ways to arrange snowflakes. It will be enough to select two or three objects that will be decorated with snowflakes.
