Nowadays there is a huge variety of cases for glasses, but sometimes you want something special or for a gift. made with your own hands will always please your loved ones. A glasses case is a great idea! It will always keep your glasses safe and visible.

To make an eyeglass case we will need:
binding cardboard (thickness 2 mm);
whatman;
cotton;
2 types of glue: PVA and “Moment” (Crystal or Universal);
masking tape;
magnet for bags;
pencil, stack, ruler, stationery or circular knife, glue brush, thread, needle, scissors.

First, let's cut out the necessary parts of the case from cardboard with a stationery knife.

Here is a simple diagram of what the case will look like. Below are the parameters of each side. Also, the diagram shows a sketch of a lock for the case, which will be discussed later.

Parameters of the sides of the glasses case:
a = 16.6 x 7.6 cm
b = 17 x 8 cm
c = 16.6 x 6 cm
d = 6 (at base) x 7.8 x 7.8 cm
h = 7.5 cm
Now let’s cut out two copies from whatman paper for each side according to its size. For external sides a and c, the length of the cut piece must be increased by 4 mm.

Make the edges of side a beveled using a circular knife or a stationery knife so that the corners of the sides do not interfere with each other.

Glue the sides (triangles) to the base, adjusting with a ruler with an acute angle so that they are perpendicular to the base.

We glue the three edges of side a with glue and fix it well between the sides. At the same time, the beveled side faces inward.

We should get such a beautiful angle on both sides of the structure.

We glue all the internal and external corners of our workpiece with masking tape.

Glue cut out pieces of whatman paper onto sides a and both sides d on the outside. Glue also on b - the glued side will be on the outside.

We cut out the fabric with allowances in such a way as to completely glue sides a and both sides d.

We glue the fabric onto a very thin layer of glue, leveling the surface with a stack. Carefully trim the unnecessary fabric around the edges and seal the corners.

We cut out a “hole” and slots for the first part of the magnet on the inside of side b. You can use magnets without a lock.

Let's cut the fabric so that we glue side c and b at the same time. Glue the prepared piece of whatman paper for side c, gluing only three sides.

Glue this part to the base (side c). We prepare a spine 16.6 cm long (the extreme sides must be folded).

Using the layout for the lock, we sew it together and insert the layout itself from whatman paper, attaching the second part of the magnet to it.

We glue the lock (Moment glue), side b (distance from side c = 7 mm) and only then the spine (PVA glue, gluing along all bends) to the parts of the case. We insert part of the magnet from the outside, securing it from the inside.

Glasses are a rather fragile product, since their lenses can easily be scratched due to careless handling, for example, if they are kept in a bag with keys and other things without a case. To avoid such troubles, you can sew a case for glasses using one of your favorite DIY methods, described in this article.

How to sew a case for glasses with a clasp with your own hands?

A clasp is a reliable fastener that is most often used when sewing wallets. However, it can also be used for other purposes, for example, as a clasp on a retro-style glasses case. This eyeglass case, made of fabric, looks very stylish and also reliably protects its contents.

To sew it we will need:

  • a piece of thick fabric for the front part of the eyeglass case and fabric for the lining;
  • clasp (8.5 cm);
  • threads, pins, needles, scissors;
  • sewing machine.
Construction of the pattern:
  1. First of all, we will create a pattern according to which we will sew the case. To do this, draw two straight lines on a piece of paper intersecting at right angles.
  2. We apply the clasp so that the two points of the arc are on the horizontal axis, and the vertical axis runs through its center. We trace the clasp along the inside.
  3. From the extreme points we measure one centimeter horizontally, from the upper central point we draw lines to them.
  4. From the resulting lines we draw two more axes down so that they are parallel to the central axis.
  5. We use glasses to determine the desired length of the product. The corners of the bottom part are slightly rounded. The pattern is ready, all that remains is to cut it out.

Sewing a case for glasses:
  1. Using the resulting pattern, we cut out two parts for the front side of the case and two for the lining. If the fabric chosen is thin, then it should be sealed with a sealant.
  2. We place the parts with the right sides facing each other and join them with a machine seam (don’t touch the top part).
  3. We sew the top edge of the case, leaving a couple of centimeters for turning inside out. Turn it inside out and sew the remaining edge.
  4. We sew the clasp with strong threads.

A stylish case for glasses with a clasp is ready.

How to crochet a stylish and versatile glasses case step by step

Lovers of crocheting can easily and in a short time use their favorite hobby to make an original case for glasses.

We will need:

  • iris threads;
  • hook No. 2.5.

The yarn color is optional. You can knit a single-color cover, or using different shades. We will knit with threads in two folds.

  1. We cast on a chain of 11 chain stitches, then knit according to the pattern given below.
  2. The height of the product depends on the size of the glasses; after reaching it, we knit the rows marked in the diagram under the numbers 15 and 16.
  3. We knit a lace of the desired length from air loops, thread it into the penultimate row with holes.

The work is finished, the case is ready!

Today, felt is very popular among needlewomen. This is a fairly dense material, it comes in a wide variety of colors and shades, it is convenient because it does not crumble and holds its shape well. We will tell you how to sew an eyeglass case from felt.

We will need:

  • a sheet of thick felt of the main color;
  • leftovers from other multi-colored sheets of felt for applique or favorite accessories for decoration;
  • button;
  • thread, needle, scissors.
Progress:
  1. We measure the length and width of our glasses, add 4 centimeters to the resulting numbers, and cut out a rectangle from felt according to these parameters. The second part is the same rectangle + a rounded “cap” on top for the fastener.
  2. On the first rectangle we sew a felt applique (for example, as in the photo) or any decor of your choice.
  3. We connect the two parts with an overcast stitch.
  4. We sew on a button, cut a hole for the button on the “cap” and sew it over.

The felt eyeglass case is ready!

We make a practical case for glasses from leather with our own hands

A glasses case made of leather not only looks stylish, but also reliably protects your glasses from any possible damage. This case is suitable for both women and men.

To make it you will need:

  • rectangular piece of skin;
  • hole puncher;
  • needle and thread for sewing on leather.

We measure the width and length of the glasses, add 3 centimeters to the resulting figures. On a piece of leather, put two widths to the right and one length down, cut out the resulting rectangle. Fold it up. It remains to sew the seam along the bottom and side of the product. We pierce the holes with a hole punch along the seam line, then use a needle and special threads to connect them. The case is ready.

A selection of videos on the topic of the article

We offer you to watch several videos with instructions on how to make eyeglass cases with your own hands using different techniques.

Every person who wears glasses knows how easily they can fail. Even minor scratches and minor deformation lead to discomfort while wearing. To extend the life of your glasses, you need to take care of a high-quality case. You can choose a ready-made case, but it will lack individuality.

It’s better to make a case yourself - then you will be sure that your accessory is stored in a safe and stylish “house”. But not everyone knows how to make a case for glasses with your own hands.

Case made from an oven mitt

Sometimes you need to make a case for glasses yourself very urgently, for example, before a business trip or outdoor recreation. But what to do if you don’t have the right fabric at hand?

To make the case reliable, it is better to stitch it with padding polyester or other soft but dense material. If you don't have such fabrics at home, a regular pot holder or felt cloth will do.

Before you begin the process, prepare the following materials:

  • Cardboard 2 mm thick;
  • Cotton;
  • Whatman;
  • Glue “Moment” and “PVA”;
  • Painting tape;
  • Magnet used in bags;
  • Available tools: scissors, pencil, brushes and others.

Using a utility knife, cut out all the necessary pieces from cardboard. Select the parameters depending on the size of the glasses, leaving a couple of free centimeters on each side.

From whatman paper, cut two blanks on each side. The edges of the sides need to be beveled using a circular or stationery knife. This is necessary so that the corners do not interfere with each other. Glue the sides to the base. They should be perpendicular to the base - adjust using a ruler with an acute angle. The beveled side faces inward. Cover all corners of the workpiece with masking tape.

Cut the fabric, leaving allowances to glue all sides. Apply the glue in a thin layer, then carefully position the fabric, leveling it with glass. Cut off any excess and tape the corners.

Make a recess on the inside - there will be the first part of the magnet. On the opposite side, make a “dimple” for the second part of the magnet. “Place the lock” on the “Moment” glue.

Decorate the case with rhinestones, sparkles or thread patterns. You can sew such a case for glasses with your own hands in 15 minutes.

Leather case

The advantage of this material is its durability and practicality. A handmade leather glasses case looks presentable and reliably protects your accessory from damage. And sewing it is not at all difficult.

To make it you will need:

Place the glasses on a piece of leather and take measurements, leaving allowances. To form the future case, align the bottom and top edges, cutting off the excess. To make the case look elegant, slightly round the bottom.

Fold the material in half and secure with clips. Using a small drill, punch holes along the edges at equal distances from each other. Cut a piece of cord - its size should be twice as large as the perimeter of the case. To make lacing easier, use an awl. Punch a hole at the end of the cord, after tying a knot, and insert a pin there.

Lace around the entire perimeter, and when you reach the other edge, tie another knot. Leave the ends the desired length and cut the rest.

Cotton cover

The fabric can be taken in any color; a white cover looks chic. You can decorate it with a printed word on adhesive paper - this will be a template. Select a piece of white cotton of the desired size and transfer the inscription to the fabric. Carefully cut with a blade.

Make patterns for the cover parts and cut them out from the fabric. Place the inscription on the front part and secure it with pins, and then stitch it on a typewriter.

Glasses are an amazing thing; they can disappear at the most inopportune moment! But they will never get lost in our eyeglass cases. Why? Because we will sew eyeglass cases with our own hands. So, let's go!

Eyeglass case embroidered with beads

Do you want to give an exclusive and unique gift to a loved one? Then give him a glasses case embroidered with beads.

We will need:

  • felt or thick cloth;
  • beads;
  • beads;
  • glass beads

From felt or thick cloth, cut out two parts 18 x 9 cm, on one of them, mark the middle with a “forward needle” seam. You can come up with a design for embroidery yourself or purchase ready-made kits for embroidery with beads. It is better to do embroidery from the bottom of the detail and in sectors: a sector on the left, a sector on the right, a sector between them (if, of course, you have it in sectors), and if not in sectors, then you already have a flight of fancy. For strength, sew the glass beads and the cutting, passing over them 2 times. In order for the beaded seam to be even, at the end of the row it is necessary to draw the needle through all the beads. Sew on beads in the same way. Use a buttonhole stitch to sew the top shaped sections and sew both parts. It goes without saying that instead of beads, you can embroider the eyeglass case with a cross stitch or satin stitch.

Felt eyeglass case with applique

A felt eyeglass case sewn with hand stitches is versatile, practical and beautiful at the same time. Perfectly protects glasses from scratches and other damage. It's very easy to sew.

We will need:

  • felt of different colors and different densities;
  • floss threads;
  • pins.

Cut out 2 rectangles 18 x 9 cm from thick felt of any color (optional), and from thin felt - any applique that will subsequently decorate your eyeglass case. To do everything beautifully and efficiently, we will need auxiliary tools, for example, pins. We pin your future applique onto a base made of thick felt and sew the parts to the base with a “forward needle” seam using small stitches, while you need to step back 2 mm from the edge. On the reverse side, if desired, you can make another applique. After decorating the parts of the eyeglass case, you should chop off 2 parts and round the corners. From the front side we sew along the contour with a buttonhole stitch, and we sew the edges of the upper part of the eyeglass case separately.

DIY eyeglass case made from a tie

Even a novice needlewoman can sew an eyeglass case from a tie. To make it you do not need a sewing machine; all stitches can be done by hand.

We will need:

  • tie;
  • threads with a needle;
  • Velcro

Measure from the end of the tie (where the wide part is) 2 lengths of glasses plus 6-7 cm for the “tongue”, approximately 26 cm. Cut off the excess. Hem the cut by hand using hidden stitches. Determine the required depth of the case based on the size of the glasses, fold and sew the edges (see photo). Sew on the Velcro. That's all. It couldn't be simpler!
