Highlighting on brown hair for girls. How to do highlights on light brown hair with video and photos

There are a variety of coloring techniques: bronzing, ombre, balayage. But not all of them look advantageous and impressive on light hair. The best option that can be offered to owners of sand and similar shades is highlighting on light brown hair.

Main types of highlighting of light brown hair

Highlighting is a special procedure for removing melanin from strands, due to which they become much lighter than their natural shade. This coloring technology is widely used to create the effect of thickness and disguise the first manifestations of gray hair.

Depending on the technique for conducting a serial bleaching session, there are different types of highlighting:

  • Californian. Its second name is Hollywood. This is one of the most popular types of hair coloring. It is considered relatively safe and is often used by stylists of foreign stars.
  • Venetian. This technique fascinates with the result of painting: it creates a natural fading effect.
  • Reverse. A special type of highlighting, where the curls are not lightened, but, on the contrary, darkened. This method is used during the treatment of fragile and repeatedly dyed hair. It helps reduce the harmful effects of paint.
  • Classic. A coloring option in which mainly the upper strands are worked out. The effect of such a session largely depends on the chosen thickness of the curl: the wider it is, the more striking the coloring will look.

In addition, this type of painting is classified according to the number of strands processed. Depending on this factor, it happens rare highlights on brown hair and frequent. The first option is that only some strands are discolored; they can be located throughout the head or in one specific area.

Frequent highlighting- a delicate procedure for dyeing light brown hair, which requires great care from the artist. Depending on the technique used, the specialist uses a special cap with slots or foil.

Let's consider each option in more detail.

California highlighting

This painting is carried out exclusively “in the fresh air”. Painted areas are not covered with foil or polyethylene. Instead, the master allows them to dry naturally. During the painting process, the active substances lighten the melanin pigment, but do not penetrate deeply into the structure of the shaft, thereby not causing severe harm to the curls.

How to perform California highlighting with tinting dye on light brown hair:

  1. The paint application scheme depends on the thickness of the hair and the desired effect. This work requires a lot of experience and precision. The main component of successful coloring is the development of very thin strands.
  2. Most often, specialists prefer to work in blocks. Separate “blocks” of hair are identified by parting and placed on foil. Afterwards, curls are selected from them.
  3. Each strand is dyed with a safe composition and then left to dry. After 40 minutes (sometimes the time interval reaches 50), the hairdresser washes off the composition and does toning.
  4. The expected effect is hair lightening up to 5 tones. Please note that it is almost impossible to carry out high-quality California highlighting on light brown hair at home. The main feature of the technology is the absence of unpleasant yellow reflections.

The result will be the effect of natural burnt hair.

French or Venetian highlighting

There are legends that in medieval Venice, girls sat in the sun for up to 8 hours to get beautiful red locks. If cold Californian highlighting is performed exclusively on light locks, then the Venetian technique is performed exclusively on dark locks.

How to do beautiful highlights on medium-length dark brown hair in the Venetian style:

  1. Initially, the master needs to divide the strands into zones. For this, the same scheme is used as for ombre. The occipital, vertex, two temporal zones and the central rhombus are distinguished (traditionally, it remains untouched).
  2. The dye is applied in a chaotic manner to strands from a certain area. This is extremely important for achieving a spectacular transition from dark to light shades.
  3. The dye is applied from the ends of the hair to the middle. This painting technology does not involve working on the roots.
  4. The colored strands are left to dry without foil, resulting in an interesting two- or more-color highlighting.

Using the Venetian technique, natural chocolate, caramel and honey shades are obtained. After the procedure, it is not recommended to re-tint.

Classic way

Most often, regular or classic highlighting is done at home. This technique involves surface painting of the tape type. It is suitable for girls who do not want sharp transitions in their strands or want to slightly refresh their hair without changing their image.

How to do regular highlighting on short light brown hair:

  1. The curls are divided into sections, individual zones are fixed with clips. Using a special comb with wide teeth of different lengths, the hairdresser selects some curls from the total mass. After this, they are combed with a fine comb.
  2. Foil is placed under them, in which the dyed hair will then be wrapped. The paint is applied from the roots with a stretch to the ends.
  3. When the strand is dyed, it is wrapped in foil and the action is repeated again with the next “block”. When one area is completed, the hairdresser moves on to the next.
  4. To give the coiffure an elegant platinum finish, powder tinting is performed at the end of the session. With its help, the master removes yellow highlights. At home, you can use tinting or tinting shampoo.

The procedure can be carried out at home with a regular shower cap. To do this, cut the polyethylene with scissors to create a uniform mesh. Then put the device on your head, and use a hook or the tip of a comb to gently pull out the strands. The main thing is not to use thick curls, otherwise you will get unsightly transitions between the painted and “your” areas.

Reverse highlighting

This is a complex coloring of repeatedly bleached hair. Unlike the classical method, with the reverse technology the curls are not bleached, but, on the contrary, are painted over with dark paint. On light and light brown hair, such highlighting looks very impressive, emphasizing the contrast of the hairstyle.

How to dye in the Ice Tint style:

  1. First, the master dyes the curls in a dark shade, as close as possible to the natural color. This could be a natural caramel or even chestnut shade.
  2. Afterwards, the hair is washed with water to remove dye and dried. Now certain strands are selected from the mop and carefully combed with a fine comb.
  3. Light paint is applied along the backcomb. The brightening composition is left to dry without foil, then it is washed off. If necessary, additional platinum tinting is performed.

This type involves very fine highlighting, almost natural. Contrasting coloring is suitable for those with dark hair - the growing roots will not be very noticeable.

Highlighting dark brown hair

The most beautiful and brightest look is bleaching strands on dark brown hair. Often the procedure simply involves light highlighting using harmless dyes.

Depending on the technique used, there are the following types of painting:

  • Multicolor. Very fashionable coloring in the style of the 90s. then at the peak of popularity was the combination of several shades of hair. These can be blue tints or strands with a pronounced pink tint, combined with a platinum base color, etc.
  • Classic. Here the coloring is carried out in two colors. In most cases, honey and platinum. The result is a graceful transition between “your” color and dyed hair.

Partial highlighting

The second name of this technique is Brazilian coloring. This type of highlighting is ideal for long light brown hair, which will later be tinted with an ashen color. The technique is very similar to the fancy California bleach, but it does not involve painting the crown area.

Here the entire mop is divided zonally into side sections, two central sections, the back of the head and the crown rhombus. From each section, except for the diamond, strands are selected and covered with a thick layer of paint. The hair is left to air dry, after which it is additionally tinted.

Double zonal highlighting has become widely known due to its interesting appearance. When all areas are unraveled, the diamond pattern partially covers the dyed hair, emphasizing its naturalness.

Balayage and shatush

Very effective highlighting of light brown hair at the ends, it can also combine toning and coloring. Best suited for curly girls or lovers of complex hairstyles. It looks original and intriguing, because when dark strands and blonde curls are intertwined, an expressive difference is created.

How to do ombre highlights on short light brown hair:

  1. If you have a bob or a cascade, don’t despair. Even on these hairstyles, the bleached ones look organic. To begin, gather your hair into a high ponytail at the top of your head and comb it. It should look like a palm tree.
  2. Backcombed hair is carefully dyed from the ends to the elastic band. Ideally, you should stop 1 centimeter before the tie. If you go lower, the paint will “slip” and as a result the ombre will look sloppy.
  3. For dark hair, after rinsing, you will need to additionally apply platinum or silver tinting. There is no need to run out and buy expensive specialized powders. The well-known “Tonic” will do an excellent job for this purpose.

If desired, already 2 weeks after dyeing, you can create a creative colored ombre on your hair - purple, red or multi-colored.

Shatush– thick partial highlighting of light brown or dark hair, resulting in a stretched color. In fact, this is practically the same as ombre, only after it you get not straight and clear lines of transition of shades, but soft flowing waves. Shatush or stretching suits all girls, regardless of their haircuts. The most important thing is to choose the right shade.

Red highlights and ash coloring

In 2017, fashion catwalks exploded with the latest trend - tiger eye dyeing. These are coppery red highlights that are a cross between a shatush and a bleach. There are two types: decent and classic. Its technique is no different from Venetian bleaching, with the exception of the selected shades.

Hair dyed using this system looks as natural as possible. After working out the red hair, you get beautiful chocolate, bright golden-red and fiery curls. To learn more about the technique, we recommend watching the video tutorial.

Photo coloring options

To accurately select the right highlighting technique for light brown hair with bangs, without bangs, or shoulder length, you need to look through dozens of photos. We tried to make the task easier and collected photographs of all existing coloring options. With such an assortment, you can independently choose the desired type of bleaching.

Highlighting for short hair and bobs

Previously, large highlights and a short haircut were considered something incompatible. Now it is one of the most iconic trends of our time. For greater effectiveness, the partings of short haircuts are decorated with contrasting sparkles or highlighted with colored wax.

Medium length highlighting

Naturally, the most common are different highlighting options for shoulder-length curls. The advantage of this length is that it is easier to paint and install. Consequently, ombre, balayage and “California” look most impressive on cascade and “straight line” hairstyles.

Long hair

On curls of 3rd and 4th length, you can do any of the listed types of coloring. In particular, wide ribbon highlights or deep gray ombre.

Looks with bangs

The most difficult thing to work with is facial hair. If the length of the bangs allows, then they are painted in the same way as the main head. If not, then they simply don’t touch it. The result can be seen in the photo.

Highlighting is again at the height of popularity in 2017. But with more stylish and modern trends and technologies that will certainly come in handy in creating original and fashionable hairstyles for any occasion, image and clothing composition. See photos of fashionable hair highlighting below.

Fashion trends in hair highlighting

In the modern world, highlighting is performed using improvised means.

Foil

To do this, the hair is divided into strands, a special product is applied to them and wrapped in foil, each strand separately. The volume of strands and their location on the head can be changed, taking into account their length, the shape of the face and your own desires.

Hairdressing professionals prefer highlighting long hair.

Fitted hat

It is made of soft material, with holes made on its surface. Small strands are pulled into them, which are covered with paint for a certain time. Medium hair length is perfect for this method.

Comb or brush

The hair is covered with a special product, and with a comb or brush it is evenly distributed over the entire length.

Master's hands or your own

This coloring option can be used in two techniques: glazing or frosting. The first is for short length hair. First, they are covered with mousse to fix them, dried with a hairdryer, after which the paint is manually applied evenly to the ends of the strands. The paint is applied in 2-5 approaches.

The second technique is mainly for curly hair. They are moistened with water and dried in an upside down position. The dye is applied with your fingertips to uncombed and unpartitioned hair.

"Striper"

With your left hand, a strand of 5-6 cm in volume is separated from the roots, the sharp end of the stripper is divided into 4 or 5 parts, they are placed on the striper and a coloring agent is applied. After a certain time, the comb and excess paint are removed.

Types of staining

Zonal. This method involves painting individual areas, i.e. The upper zones of the hair are colored, creating a certain contrast between their own color and the bleached one.

Classic. It involves coloring in uniform strands over the entire surface of the head and the entire length. The color of the strands can be changed by applying tinting, and the contrast will be more subdued.

The opposite. With this method, the curls are dyed not in light colors, but rather in dark ones. Most often it is used to return from dyed blonde to your natural color.

Soft highlighting method

It is worth talking about gentle highlighting separately, as it is a harmless and caring hair product that is quite popular among consumers. Its composition does not contain ammonia and is rich in beneficial substances to nourish and moisturize hair. Perfect for hair that requires careful care.

The most fashionable options for soft hair highlighting in 2017 will be:

Balayage. Suitable for any length, because... Only the ends of the strands are dyed (lightened or dyed in a rich color).

Mazhimesh. With its help, light hair color will acquire a noticeable shade of honey or wheat.

Highlighting individual parts. Only strands of bangs or in the face area are bleached. The number of strands for highlighting will not be more than 5.

Crazy colors. Several strands are bleached and painted with a special gel in bright colors (green, red, purple, pink, etc.). It does not stay on the hair for a long time, it is washed off 6-9 times after washing the hair.

Highlighting in several tones (multi-tone). It is better to use for brown or light brown hair to create a play of multi-colored highlights on the strands.

Shatush. Involves random coloring of strands, creating a smooth transition from a lighter tone at the ends to a darker one at the roots.

Bronding. When dyed, the strands acquire shades of blond and golden brown, close to natural.

Choosing between ombre and sombre

Although the names of these techniques are very similar, they still have significant differences. Ombre is similar to shatush with its smooth transition of color from one tonality to another. However, its peculiarity is that there is a fuzzy line between two saturated colors in the middle of the strand.

In this case, the emphasis is on the transition of colors, but in shatush this is not so pronounced. Suitable for dark colored hair.

The sombre technique is not as eye-catching. Classic coloring assumes natural highlights of color on the strands, as if nature itself had worked on your hair, and not a master and a coloring agent.

The present transition of colors is almost imperceptible, as is the line between colors. It can be used on light brown and blond hair so that the play of color is noticeable.

Highlighting blonde hair

Highlighting using the following techniques: mazhimesh, crazy colors, sombre will help to add expressiveness, brightness and freshness to blonde hair.

Highlighting brown hair

Fair-haired beauties can refresh their look in the following ways:

Make a straight parting in your hair, select symmetrical strands from the parting line and bleach them. The number and volume of strands is determined at will. Then place thermal paper with a dye (blondoran) under the strands.

Select strands in random order, step back 5 cm from the roots and apply a coloring solution. No foil or paper required. Mostly curls near the facial area are dyed.

Highlighting dark hair

Fashionable accents on strands dyed using the following techniques will help you draw attention to the beauty and style of dark hair:

  • shatush. It will create relief and smooth out color layers.
  • American coloring. Its goal is volume and naturalness. Red color is at the peak of popularity this year. The more colored strands and the number of shades used, the better.
  • Venetian highlighting. For black hair. Highlighting is performed in random order, color transitions look soft and natural.

Photo of fashionable hair highlighting

One of the most popular hair coloring techniques today is highlighting. Highlighting is the painting of individual strands on the head. This type of coloring has many advantages. In this article we will talk about how to do highlighting on light brown hair, what are the advantages of this technique, and what techniques exist for performing the procedure.

Features of the procedure

Probably the most important feature of the highlighting procedure is that it is very difficult to do it yourself at home. There is no problem in getting all the necessary components for highlighting. The catch is in high-quality dyeing of the strands, so that they do not deteriorate, and the color is as intended.

If you still try to paint at home, you need to stock up on paints in the right shades, a special cap, foil and a brush. A special cap is needed to carefully separate the strands for dyeing. After dyeing, the hair is wrapped in foil.

Another method also involves using foil. Strands of light brown hair are separated independently using a special technique. The foil is pressed to the head and thin strands are painted on it. Next, the hair is wrapped in this same foil for a while. Then the foil is removed - and after washing you can admire the result.

In addition to these methods, there are a huge number of other techniques. Almost all of them require only paint, foil and a special brush.

It should also be said here that highlighting of strands is usually done by professionally trained people - colorists. They know how to correctly combine shades with each other. Thus, at the end of the day, a person receives high-quality colored strands that shimmer beautifully in the sun. Despite the fact that it is much easier to dye blond hair than, for example, naturally dark hair, considerable skill is required in performing the entire procedure.

This method of hair coloring, like highlighting, definitely has its advantages, which simply cannot be kept silent about. Let's get to them.

Advantages

An undoubted advantage of hair coloring using the highlighting technique is the cost-effectiveness of materials and products. In the case of blond hair, this advantage is doubly evident. The fact is that dyeing dark hair requires more materials due to the need to lighten a fairly “strong” shade. With brown hair it is much easier in this regard.

To the question of cost-effectiveness, it should also be added that growing highlighted curls on light brown hair look very harmonious. The problem of growing roots will no longer torment you.

In addition, the advantage of highlighting strands is that this hair coloring technique gives visual volume to the head and refreshes the curls. High-quality colored light brown hair looks great with a natural color.

We all know that hair coloring spoils its structure. As a result, many owners of such hair suffer from excessive dryness on the head, fragility and split ends. And these are far from the worst consequences of coloring. Thus, we can conclude that another advantage of highlighting, compared to full hair coloring, is that the hair does not deteriorate as much. Of course, special hair care is needed after any chemical or thermal exposure. In any case, highlighting is a more gentle option. Moreover, nowadays there are a large number of manufacturers providing paints that contain a lot of natural ingredients.

On a note! Despite the advantages, highlighting also has its disadvantages. There aren't many of them. If we talk about light brown hair, then the disadvantages include the fact that hair dyed using the highlighting technique takes on a yellow tint. In this case, some manufacturers of hair cosmetics offer tinted shampoos to neutralize the yellowness that appears.

Types of highlighting of light brown hair

As mentioned earlier, there are various techniques for performing highlighting. The most interesting thing is that in the end result, each of the techniques transforms the hair differently.

On a note! For example, there are various techniques for performing highlighting. Depending on the technique, highlighting can begin either at the root or in the middle of the hair.

Viewing different types of highlights will allow you to understand which coloring method is right for your hair.

Classic way

Surely many people have an idea of how exactly light brown hair is highlighted in its classic version. This is the coloring of strands from the very root and along the entire length. Of course, the width of the strand matters. The thinner it is, the more neat the highlighting looks.

In the classic version, fairly light shades of colors are suitable for light brown hair. It is important to take into account that this color harmonizes well with your native hair color. In addition, the classic method differs in the number of shades taken for highlighting.

California highlighting

The most common dyeing technique recently is dyeing only the ends of the hair. In other words, this technique is called ombre. “What does highlighting have to do with it?” - you ask? The fact is that Californian highlighting of light brown hair is only very similar to the result of the ombre technique. Coloring occurs only at the end of the hair. Thus, the strands look quite natural, giving the hair a feeling of lightness and silkiness. This is especially pronounced on light hair.

Interesting! With dark hair it's a little different. The tints on dark hair shades are more contrasting.

In addition, on light hair, such highlighting creates the effect of sun-bleached hair.

French highlighting

Practice shows that the most attractive option for women is the French highlighting option. Let’s immediately make a reservation that if you are the owner of dark brown hair, such coloring will most likely be unnoticeable. In general, the procedure itself involves lightening strands of hair by several shades. Thus, the most natural natural shade of hair is obtained.

Reverse highlighting

Reverse highlighting on light brown hair is suitable for girls with both dark and light brown hair. A very interesting type of highlighting for light shades, since it gives the hair a second chance and allows you to correct a bad dyeing experience. This method of dyeing will allow a person with light brown hair to “painlessly” return to their color.

Amber highlighting

This method of highlighting is very relevant for darker shades of light brown hair. With amber highlights, you can experiment in terms of choosing different shades, not just light brown.

On a note! This method of highlighting is also called Venetian.

Balayage

Coloring for the bravest. Highlighting light brown hair using the balayage technique involves highlighting accents on the hair with separate, usually very bright, colors.

Since Jacques Dessange invented highlighting, and Brigitte Bardot demonstrated the result of his work, more than a dozen years have passed. The art of hairdressing has come a long way and today many varieties of this coloring technology have appeared. Fashion trends in coloring open up a lot of opportunities for creating an expressive image. There are several popular highlighting technologies that are ideal for fair-haired beauties.

Classic frequent highlighting A traditional method that involves lightening along the entire length. Light shades are used that are in harmony with the natural light brown color of the hair. It could be platinum or golden blonde, wheat blonde, ash blonde or even coffee with milk. With the classic dyeing technique, two to four shades are used. For damaged hair, experts recommend zonal or so-called surface dyeing, in which only the color of the upper strands is changed.

French

Ideal for light brown and wheat hair.. Delicate lightening by several tones gives the hair a natural effect of sun-bleached hair and is a gentle coloring treatment. This effect is obtained due to the composition of the dye; it does not contain ammonia, which damages the strands; instead, the dye contains a special wax that does not injure the strands. The shades gently blend into one another, visually giving the hairstyle additional volume. The strands look shiny and well-groomed. Optimal for coloring long and medium hair.

Partial (zonal) highlighting

An excellent option for a short haircut. It uses lightening of individual strands in the back of the head and around the face, in combination with lightening the ends. California highlighting - ideal coloring for light brown hair

The technique is similar in its final result to ombre, but there is no clear color transition. The hair looks slightly faded under the sultry southern sun. This technique looks most advantageous on light brown hair, since the hair looks natural and there are no sharp color transitions. Shades that are close to the natural hair color are used. The naturalness and naturalness of this image was loved by many Hollywood stars. Dyeing is carried out outdoors, this gives soft smooth transitions of tones, suitable for light brown and dark brown hair.

The famous hair stylist Jacques Dessange in the middle of the last century made a real revolution in the world of hairdressing. With his light hand, not only short haircuts came into fashion, but also special techniques for lightening and tinting strands, in other words - highlighting. Today, this method of coloring curls is considered one of the most popular and popular. Highlighting looks great on both brunettes and fair-haired girls. The latter, by the way, resort to this method of painting much more often. We will talk about them in this article.

Features of highlighting on light brown hair

On light brown hair, highlighted strands look especially natural and natural, which is fully consistent with modern trends. Meanwhile, fair-haired ladies choose this method of hair coloring not only because of fashion trends. Highlighting for such hair has a lot of advantages and possibilities:

  • uneven color creates an interesting texture in the haircut, making it more dynamic and lively;
  • hair gains volume and creates a feeling of thickness, because light hair color sometimes lacks this;
  • highlighted curls allow you to hide some defects in the haircut, flaws in previous coloring or gray hair;
  • thanks to highlighting, it is easier to return to the natural color of your hair without losing its well-groomed and attractive appearance.

Currently, there are quite a large number of highlighting techniques for light brown hair: classic, French, Californian, shatush, balayage or Brazilian. The choice of one or another method of lightening and toning will depend on the type of haircut, the initial volume in the curls, the client’s color type and the base hair color. When it comes to choosing a color palette, all shades of brown and gold are perfect for dark-blond girls: wheat, honey, cognac, amber, chestnut. Light brown ladies should give preference when tinting to shades of white: ivory, creamy, milky, platinum, café au lait, caramel.

The color palette selected for one or another method of highlighting should be in harmony with the woman’s color type: the color of her skin, eyes and strands. There are 4 main types of female appearance: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Each of them has its own palette of warm or cold shades. An experienced master should immediately pay attention to this point so that his work subsequently looks as natural as possible on a fair-haired young lady.

The choice of highlighting technique depends on the original hair color and the length of the strands. At the same time, the selection of a color palette for tinting is carried out based on the woman’s color type.

Classic highlighting for brown hair

Classic highlighting is currently not in high demand among fashionistas. It was replaced by other, more modern and safer techniques. However, some women still prefer classic highlighting, considering it a proven, simple and most familiar coloring method for them.

Classic highlighting involves lightening the strands along their entire length, as a result of which the hair becomes several tones lighter, and its texture remains almost uniform due to the frequency of lightening. Lightened areas may have a narrower zone and a sparse step. Then the lightening texture will be more pronounced and contrasting.

This method of lightening is considered one of the most aggressive for hair: the hair becomes porous, without color pigment and quite brittle. For classic highlighting, the master, as a rule, uses foil and fairly strong lightening components. Lightening begins not from the roots of the hair, but quite close to them. Every girl will be able to perform classic highlighting on brown hair at home. This technique is simple to perform.

Zonal highlighting

Experienced stylists, as a rule, try to avoid classic frequent highlighting and choose a more gentle zonal method for lightening, although it is done in a similar way, using foil and a strong lightener. There are two types of zonal highlighting: partial or tip highlighting.

Partial highlighting is created only on the upper part of the hair, in separate strands. The bottom of the hair remains in the base color and is not highlighted. The hair becomes uneven and has some volume. Experts do not recommend doing such highlighting on a dark blond color if you want to achieve naturalness. The lightened areas will contrast greatly with the main hair color.

Highlighting the ends of your hair is a relatively new fashion trend. This lighting looks very interesting and unusual. Sometimes the master lightens up to 1/3 of the lower part of the hair to create a more pronounced contrast effect. This zonal highlighting looks great on light brown short hair or medium haircuts.

Regular highlighting has not been popular lately. Progressive girls increasingly prefer gentler, more natural methods of lightening their curls.

French highlighting

French highlighting (Milanese, Venetian) was originally created for dark-haired girls, but gradually adapted to light brown hair color. This technique is considered the most gentle on curls and looks as natural and natural as possible in a haircut.

Some stylists believe that French highlights are the ideal way to color dark brown or wheat-colored hair. The strands look as if they have been bleached by the sun, voluminous, and alive. Few people will be able to understand that the result obtained is actually the work of a hairdresser, and not nature.

When lightening, the master does not use foil; the work is carried out using a brush and special blonde wax. The stylist selects strands for highlighting by eye, treats them with a coloring compound and allows them to dry in the open air. French highlighting allows you to use several color shades to make the coloring effect look as natural as possible. Dark brown hair may need 3-4 tones to lighten, while light brown hair will need two. The paint is applied from bottom to top and blended with a brush for a soft effect.

French highlighting looks most harmonious on medium brown hair and long curls. Some girls who want to add extravagance to their image ask the master to tint the lightened areas with a pink, lemon, purple or blue tint. This trend is very popular mainly among young people.

French highlighting was originally conceived as a technique for lightening dark curls. But nowadays it looks quite harmonious on fair-haired young ladies.

Shatush and balayage of light brown hair

Shatush and balayage are two fairly similar hair highlighting techniques. Each of them helps the master create the most natural, natural effect of sun-bleached strands on his client’s head. True, unlike French highlighting, shatuzh and balayage place the main emphasis on lightening on the lower and middle parts of the hair. Light curls are concentrated at the ends and, as they move towards the crown, they blur, blending into the darker base hair color.

Shatush and balayage are created without the use of foil, using a soft lightening method (paste and wax), using a brush and natural absorption of paint. Hair is not exposed to aggressive chemicals and retains its natural strength.

Using the shatush technique, the master lightens the hair with a palette that is as close as possible to the natural, basic light brown color. The color stretch does not come from the roots, it starts somewhere in the area of the eyebrows or cheekbones and unevenly goes down to the ends of the hair. The concentration of lightened areas occurs in the lower part of the hair. This is where the lightest shades appear. In the middle part of light brown hair, the master can alternate up to 3 shades of paint that are close to each other. It all depends on the original color.

Balayage also strives for natural shades. There may be several of them, gradually replacing each other as they move towards the ends of the hair. The lightest color appears at the bottom of the curls. Their master, unlike shatush, lightens them completely, placing emphasis and concentrating special attention on the ends. The beginning of highlighting and color stretching is carried out in a manner similar to the shatush technique.

Shatush and balayage techniques are similar. Both of them strive to give hair the natural shades of bleached strands. Meanwhile, balayage creates the main emphasis on highlighting the ends, while shatush blurs the boundaries and does not make the lower part of the haircut completely lightened.

California highlights for brown hair

California highlighting is a variation of the shatush technique, differing from the latter in brighter and more contrasting color transitions. This method of lightening and tinting strands, according to many stylists, is ideal for fair-haired girls.

Hair lightening is carried out unevenly, chaotically, without maintaining clear lines. The front curls may have lightened areas almost at the roots, the crown may remain in its natural color, and the middle part of the haircut and ends of the hair gradually turn into a rich light shade.

On a dark brown color, the stylist can afford to use brighter and accent colors, and make transitions from dark color to completely white. At the same time, they try to create the borders of transitions invisible. This is the main difficulty of California highlighting: bright colors must be harmoniously combined, gently complement and gradually flow into each other.

On light brown hair, Californian highlights look invisible. It looks natural and natural, but the difference between other techniques becomes elusive. In order to draw attention to the hair, the master can tint the lower part of the curls with platinum, ash, pearl and pink cool shades. These colors are not suitable for everyone, but they can make a bright accent on the hair and the entire haircut.

California highlighting is a type of shatush technique, but differs from the latter in brighter color transitions and a fairly wide range of shades.

Brazilian highlighting

Brazilian highlighting is considered a subspecies of Californian highlighting. These methods of lightening hair, especially those with a light brown color, look similar, but the technique used for these types of highlighting is different. Brazilian highlighting is considered one of the most complex lightening techniques. It is carried out in several stages. First, the hair is lightened to the desired shade, and then colored in darker colors.

The lower light part of the hair can be tinted in gold, amber, wheat or straw shades. The top should be quite dark: cognac, brown, chestnut colors would be appropriate here. On dark brown hair, it is enough to maintain the harmony of the natural color at the roots: the color palette will be selected taking into account the natural color of the strands, about 5-6 different shades are allowed (from dark to light). On light brown hair, the master can experiment with the color of the root zone, darkening this area by several shades. This will allow you to diversify the color palette and make your natural, not very bright hair color more vibrant, multifaceted and dynamic.
