How to make diapers from gauze. Learning to make disposable and reusable diapers yourself

With the appearance of a child in a family, its members receive a lot of troubles and responsibilities. So, first of all, the baby should be well-fed and well dressed. In this case, he will be comfortable, and the new mother will be twice as calm.

Nowadays, the creators of children's products offer many different diapers. These can be products with Velcro or in the form of panties. They are suitable for single use. After use, this product is thrown away. You can also purchase reusable panties with special inserts. The inside of such a diaper is pulled out and goes into the wash.

Many mothers use grandma's methods to help them save money. Our article will tell you about how to create gauze diapers with your own hands from different materials. These products can be used several times. All you need to do is wash the fabric and dry it.

There are a couple of simple ways to fold pre-prepared material. It is worth noting that the accessory does not always need to be made of gauze. You can use old bed linen or comfortable towels as a base. This is exactly what mothers and grandmothers did a couple of decades ago.

If you want to take gauze diapers for newborns (you will learn how to create them later), first of all you need to buy the right material. You can find it in any pharmacy or store specializing in medical supplies. The gauze must be strong. Don't skimp on the foundation. Otherwise, you will not be able to properly make gauze diapers for a newborn.

Material processing

How to make gauze diapers for your baby with your own hands? First you need to properly treat the base. It doesn't matter what you took as material. Of course, it should be a loose, soft and comfortable fabric. It is also worth taking a perfectly absorbent base.

Product “Scarf” master class.

How to create gauze diapers for a baby in this way? Everything is very easy. Let's fold a huge square of gauze in half. Let's repeat the steps again. In the end we should have four layers of material. Fold the workpiece diagonally to form a triangle.

Fold the diaper with the blunt tip facing toward you. Let's place the child on it. We will place the blunt end of the product between the newborn’s legs and place it on the stomach. We tie the sides together in the navel area. They can also be easily tucked inside.

Diaper "Rectangle"

Gauze diapers for newborns can be secured with simple panties or an elastic band. How to create such an accessory? Take a cloth or gauze and fold it in half. Let's repeat the steps two more times. As a result, we will have a rather long rectangle.

Place the diapers in front of you vertically. We will place the child on it. One edge should be under the back, the second will go between the legs. A pre-sewn elastic band or rope will help secure such a product. You can also put fabric panties or rompers on your newborn.

"Hungarian" version of diapers

Place a piece of gauze in the shape of a square in front of you. We take the lower part with our hands and fold it so that the corners in our fingers align with the upper tips. After this, we attach the right part to the left part, folding the fabric in half. Slowly lift and straighten the lower right corner. We should have the appearance of a scarf or triangle. Carefully turn the diaper over to the other side with the bottom facing you. Take the remaining rectangular piece and fold it several times.

Let's place the baby on the created product. Place the folded rectangle between the baby’s legs. Place the left corner of the diaper on top and tightly wrap it under the back. We do the same with the right side of the product. Secure the corner by wrapping it in the belt.

Good earbuds.

Gauze diapers for our children can consist of simple inserts. In this case, we need to prepare waterproof panties or regular underwear. Take square pieces of gauze and fold them in half. Then we place a small piece of fabric in the center. Alternatively, we can take an old terry towel. After that, use a sewing machine to stitch the gauze ends. At the end you will have a so-called insert - a gasket. It is worth noting that such a product will be several times more reliable than those products that we discussed above. However, it will take a little longer to dry after washing than opened gauze.

Place the blank in the child’s underpants or panties. After that, you can put them on the baby.

Using a bandage

Gauze diapers for a baby can be made from a simple bandage. Essentially, this is the same gauze. However, they have completely different sizes. Remember that such a product will not last you long. It can be used in emergency cases when all supplies have run out.

Take a roll of bandage and unroll it. Let's cut about three meters of material and fold it in half several times. Due to the fact that all bandages are sold in sterile form, such a diaper does not need to be washed or ironed beforehand. Place the created rectangle between the child’s legs and secure it with the same elastic band or panties. So we looked at the topic of how to make reusable diapers with your own hands. Now let's move on to the pattern.

Reusable diaper pattern

The pattern for sewing a diaper is quite easy to create; you just need to take a simple diaper and trace it with a pencil. Reusable models can be used from birth to 2 years. Therefore, you need to sew diapers according to the size of the newborn. . Reusable diapers come in three sizes. A, B, C, but if you look at diapers, there may be more of them.

  • Models are made depending on the weight of the baby. You can make a universal diaper - this is an interesting product with buttons or Velcro that can be adjusted in size.
  • Using the pattern, you can sew a reusable diaper, even if you only have basic sewing skills. First you need to decide what size the product will be and what material it will be made of.
  • The diaper is done, all that remains is to insert the insert and put it on the child. Many people are afraid to start work out of fear. There is no need to be afraid of problems, the beginning is always the most difficult, then everything will become easier and easier to work with.

There are many reasons for choosing reusable diapers, each mother has her own. This includes the skin of a newborn being sensitive to synthetic fabric, and saving money, and possibly also caring for the environment. The children's hygiene market offers options of different origins and materials; pharmacies sell ready-made gauze inserts, however, “grandmother’s” methods are still popular. Making your own diaper is easy and won't break the bank.

How to sew a homemade diaper for a newborn from gauze, calico, madapolama or other fabric

There are several types of home hygiene products, which differ from each other in the way they are made:

  • triangular diaper with a removable or sewn-in insert;
  • rectangular diaper with removable insert;
  • Hungarian diaper without insert.

Diapers in the form of panties are a special type of children's toilet item that resembles disposable hygiene products sold in stores and pharmacies.

A triangular diaper is the easiest baby hygiene item to make. Sewing skills are required to make a rectangular diaper. Velcro panties are similar to disposable diapers sold in stores. A Hungarian diaper does not require stitching, but is folded in a special way

What can you use to make a cloth diaper for a baby?

Reusable diapers can be made from different materials:

  • gauze;
  • calico;
  • flannel;
  • madapolama.

Madapolam is an analogue of gauze, a material made from thin chintz, but much denser and stronger. It is ideal for reusable diapers.

Making different types of reusable diapers

Each type of reusable diapers has its own manufacturing characteristics.

Homemade fabric triangle diaper “Klondike” and its dimensions

To make a triangular diaper, you will need a piece of fabric:

  • 60x120 cm for a newborn;
  • 80x160 cm for a child 1–3 months;
  • 90x180 cm for a child over three months old.

To sew a toilet item, you need to perform a number of steps.

  1. Fold a piece of fabric in half lengthwise, forming a square. The upper left corner leads to the lower right corner.
  2. Smooth out the fabric, bring the corners together.
  3. Pin the fabric along the edges to prevent it from moving.
  4. Sew the edges, leaving one gap of 4–5 cm unstitched, turn the product inside out and sew up the remaining section, turning the fabric inward.
  5. If desired, attach ribbons to the side edges for ease of swaddling.

For newborns, the insert does not need to be sewn into a triangular diaper, since there is no risk of it slipping or twisting. But for children of mobile age, the gauze pad should be fixed. When changing a toilet item, the soiled liner is removed and a new one is applied.

Swaddling technique using the Klondike method

  1. Place the product with the lower corner towards you, place the child on the fabric so that the edge is at the level of the ribs.
  2. Place the liner.
  3. Place the bottom corner of the diaper on your tummy.
  4. Place the left corner of the triangle over the bottom one and place it behind the back, lay the right corner overlapping on the left side under the diaper and secure it.
  5. Wear rompers or swaddles.

Rectangular diapers from diapers for boys and girls

To make rectangular diapers with replaceable inserts, use a piece of fabric 60x100 centimeters from cotton, flannel, calico diapers or bed linen.

  1. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, then widthwise - you get a piece of 4 layers 30x50 cm.
  2. Sew along the edges, leaving a gap of 4-5 cm for turning right side out.
  3. Turn it inside out, straighten the seams and corners, and stitch the remaining space.
  4. Sew ribbons to the edges of one side of the rectangle.

  1. Fold the edge without ribbons. For a girl - place it on the back, for a boy - on the tummy.
  2. Place a gauze pad and pass the fabric between the legs.
  3. Tie the ribbons and put on the rompers.

Swaddling with a rectangular reusable diaper

How to fold and tie diapers using the Hungarian method

The Hungarian swaddling method does not involve stitching, since the diaper is made from a square piece of fabric 60, 80 or 90 cm, depending on the age of the child. The instructions below clearly show how to correctly fold “origami” from a diaper. As a result of this manipulation, you get a finished toilet item with an insert.

The diaper is folded in such a way that it forms a dense insert

  1. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, then again widthwise. The folds are located at the top and right.
  2. Pull the lower left (single) corner, right and up. You will get one side of the future scarf.
  3. Turn the diaper over to the other side so that the resulting corner is on the right.
  4. Fold the right side twice, you get a “scarf” with a liner in the middle.

The swaddling method itself is similar to a “kerchief”: after placing the baby on the diaper, lift the insert onto the tummy, securing it with the corners of the product.

This method only seems complicated, but the video clearly demonstrates it.

Selecting the material and making liners

The insert can be either disposable or reusable - it all depends on the chosen fabric:

  • a disposable insert is sewn from gauze or madapolam, and after one use it is thrown away;
  • reusable is made from old towels, thick microfiber or other fabrics with good absorbency. Initially, take a piece of 45x35 cm, which for newborns needs to be folded along the length 4 times (it will be long and dense), and for older children - 3 times along the width (short and dense). The liner is sewn with an overlock or zigzag stitch along the edge so that the fabric does not diverge or bunch up.

Long liners for babies prevent leakage.

The liner can be reusable from a towel or cloth, or disposable from gauze

Care: washing, changing and disinfection

The undeniable advantage of homemade hygiene products is their price, and the disadvantage is frequent washing. And if 10–15 diapers themselves are enough, then you will need much more inserts, because they need to be changed after every urination, and they take a long time to dry. If there is no leakage, then it is enough to wash the diapers with your hands or with other baby things in the machine. Caring for the earbuds is somewhat stricter:

  • wash them by hand in warm water with baby soap or special powder;
  • after bowel movements, you must thoroughly rinse and wash the liner, and then soak in hot water;
  • After drying, it is ironed at maximum temperature.

On average, newborns urinate 16–20 times per day. A child's skin may become damaged due to constant contact with feces and regular washing with soap. To prevent diaper dermatitis and diaper rash, you must use baby cream or a special diaper cream.

Creating home hygiene products does not require special skills or a lot of time, but it more than pays off in the future. The only thing that experienced women recommend is to buy a pack of disposable branded diapers for a good healthy night's sleep and long walks in the fresh air during the cold season. And going to the doctor in a diaper will be much more comfortable.

Often, an expectant mother thinks about what to take with her to the maternity hospital. What is better to use or gauze diapers? Some women give their preference to diapers, which sometimes leads to friction and irritation on the baby's skin. However, the occurrence of these unpleasant phenomena can be avoided by using creams and baby powders at the time of change.

Of course, on store shelves you can find all kinds of diapers, which, as it is written on the packaging, allow the baby’s delicate skin to breathe freely and prevent the appearance of friction. However, it is still better for young mothers to listen to the advice of their mothers and grandmothers that in the first weeks of the baby’s life it is necessary to use only gauze diapers. The gauze is very thin, delicate and allows air to pass freely, which prevents the formation of redness on your child’s skin.

How to make gauze diapers with your own hands?

Having finally decided on diapers, young mothers begin to actively listen to the advice of their elders on how to properly make diapers for their baby. Before moving on to a description of how to sew gauze diapers yourself, it is worth finding out the advantages of such products. First of all, they prevent friction and redness on your baby’s skin, since thanks to its material, the gauze allows air to pass freely and the skin receives the necessary amount of oxygen. Secondly, in stores and pharmacies, most diapers are very expensive, so in order to save money, many mothers prefer homemade diapers.

To make gauze diapers with your own hands, you will need gauze or old sheets, which you can always find in your own closet. Before you start, you need to decide what shape you will make the diapers. Gauze diapers are often made rectangular, somewhat reminiscent of pads, or triangular, which will be tied with a small knot on the baby’s tummy. You can also make a rectangular diaper of two types with your own hands - with or without an elastic band.

What size diaper should I make?

Since about 20-25 gauze diapers will have to be prepared for one newborn, it is necessary to accurately calculate the size so that in the future there will be no uncomfortable situations for both mother and baby. First you need to take 1 meter of gauze and fold it in half lengthwise, and then fold it across several times. It is necessary to remember that in order to get the correct gauze diaper, you need to make sure that the ends of the product are pressed with the elastic band of the sliders.

If you are planning to sew a diaper for a slightly older child, then it is best to opt for the option with an elastic band. It is necessary to measure the circumference of the baby’s abdomen with a tape, and then sew a ring of gauze, elastic bandage or elastic band to fit. Then, when using a rectangular diaper, all you have to do is tuck its edges under the resulting elastic band.

Making a triangular gauze diaper is done using almost the same method. From a piece of gauze you need to cut a square of approximately 1 * 1 meter, then fold it in half diagonally to form a triangle. Having correctly completed all the above steps, you will receive a ready-made gauze diaper.

How to fold a disposable

In order to fold a disposable diaper, you will need the same gauze or an old sheet. Manufacturing takes place according to the above methods. You can sew both rectangular and triangular gauze diapers. Disposable is different in that it can only be used once, since when used it loses its qualities.

How to sew a reusable one

If you do not want or do not have the opportunity to constantly make new gauze diapers, there is the option of sewing reusable ones. Since the only disadvantage of such diapers is their low absorbency after the child pees, to achieve the best results it is necessary to use flannel or flannel gauze together. The properties of the diapers will be similar, the only difference is that flannel and flannel have the best absorbency. Since gauze diapers are washed quite often, over time they become gray in color. Therefore, when washing, you can use hydroperite tablets as bleach. Just soap the diapers with laundry soap and place them in a bowl of hot water for a couple of hours, dissolving two hydroperite tablets in it.

How to put on a diaper or swaddle a baby (video)

Every young mother, after sewing diapers, has a natural question about how to put them on. At the very beginning of swaddling, you need to place the baby on a flat surface under the ready-made diaper. Then you need to move the child so that the edges of the diaper pass exactly between the legs, and the upper edges reach the elastic of the sliders, with which you need to secure the diaper.

When using a triangular diaper, the swaddling process is approximately the same as when using a rectangular one. Place the baby on the folded triangle diaper so that the top of the triangle is exactly between the baby's legs. The side edges need to be tied into a neat knot on the tummy and the remaining corner pulled up to it. This way, the baby is in a diaper and can move freely.

As you have already noticed, there is nothing complicated in the swaddling process; everything is very easy and accessible, described in this video.

"Octopussy"

Among analogues, there are diapers of the “Octopus” brand, which perfectly absorb moisture and allow air to pass through, which is why your baby’s skin is not subject to friction and redness.

The diapers have an affordable price, good material and truly deserved love among customers for many years of quality.

Some people believe that diapers and nappies are harmful for small children. For example, they provoke crooked legs and interfere with potty training, cause cystitis in girls or infertility in boys. But that's not true. These products have been proven to be safe for babies. At the same time, they make life much easier for parents.

There are two types of diapers, including reusable gauze diapers for newborns and disposable diapers. In the first case, the products are used repeatedly and washed after each use. This is not very convenient, so many modern parents often choose the second option.

Disposable diapers are more practical, because the used diaper is not washed, but simply thrown away. Such products require more costs, but do not take time and effort. However, they can bring a number of troubles, including severe diaper rash in the baby, skin allergies, and abrasions.

To avoid such problems, it is important to choose the right material and size and change the diaper regularly. How to choose the right diaper for a baby, read. And in this article we will look at the benefits of reusable gauze products. Let's learn how to make diapers from gauze with your own hands for newborns.

Features of using a gauze diaper

Reusable gauze diapers are washed after use in warm water and soap, then dried and ironed, and used again. This is a cheaper and more economical option. In addition, it becomes indispensable for children with allergies. Some children develop skin rashes, redness and itching after wearing store-bought diapers.

Advantages of a gauze diaper:

  • Availability and cost-effectiveness;
  • Reusable;
  • A light weight;
  • Hypoallergenic material;
  • Good air permeability;
  • You can do it yourself;
  • They allow the baby's skin to breathe, so they do not cause diaper rash in the baby.

Among the disadvantages, it can be noted that homemade gauze products need to be washed and ironed regularly. Gauze does not absorb moisture, so it gets wet quite quickly and requires frequent changes. This diaper should be changed immediately after it gets wet. If a child is wet for a long time, irritation appears on the skin, despite the safety of the materials.

But, despite the disadvantages, many mothers prefer gauze products to reusable diapers due to their cost-effectiveness, availability and safety. In addition, if necessary, you can quickly make such a diaper yourself. Let's look at how to sew a gauze diaper with your own hands.

How to sew a gauze diaper

Classic gauze diapers are a square or rectangle with a side of 50-100 centimeters, lined with several layers of gauze. To increase absorbency, cotton wool can be placed between layers. To make a diaper, gauze or natural dense and soft fabric is used, which does not need to be sewn, but should be folded in a certain way. Today there are three folding technologies.

"Rectangle" made using gauze or fabric with parameters 60x100 centimeters. The material is rolled lengthwise several times to obtain a rectangle approximately 20 by 60 centimeters. Turn one edge, put it in the front for the boy, and under the back for the girl. The other edge is passed between the child's legs and tied.

“Scarf” or “triangle” involves the use of fabric or gauze 90x180 centimeters. The material is folded first in half, then diagonally. It turns out to be a triangle scarf, on which the baby is placed and the lower end of the fabric is passed between the legs. The side ends are placed on top of each other and tucked into the resulting belt or tied.

“Hungarian” way involves the use of a square piece of gauze or fabric, which is folded in half, first across and then along. Fold the top corner to form a gusset and turn the material upside down. Fold the free edge several times. The baby is placed in the compacted middle, the lower end of the fabric is threaded between the legs, and the sides are placed on top of each other and secured to the belt.

Another option is a multi-layer diaper. This product cannot be used several times, but it will last the baby for several hours, while traditional homemade gauze models have to be changed every 30-60 minutes. To make it, take three pieces of oilcloth and place gauze, folded in half, between the layers. To secure, use ties on the side or front of the stomach. When the baby pees, remove the layer of gauze and oilcloth from above, leaving the rest until the next use.

How to make a reusable diaper with your own hands

There are also special baby diapers-panties. These are reusable products made from hypoallergenic safe materials with a special gauze insert. After use, the insert is washed or replaced with a new one. You can buy panties and liners ready-made or make them yourself.

Panties are made from natural cotton or polyester, and the inside is lined with fleece or bamboo fabric. The products are secured with Velcro or snaps. To make one, trace a regular diaper on paper or print a ready-made pattern from the Internet. In the first case, add a centimeter to the allowance on each side. Transfer the pattern to a clean, washed and ironed fabric and after cutting, sew elastic bands along the waist and leg bends. Then the Velcro is sewn on and the liner is placed inside.

To make the liner, take a piece of gauze or cotton and fold it several times until you get a rectangle 10 centimeters long. The strip is folded in half and sewn by hand. You can put a small layer of cotton wool inside. After manufacturing, the insert is inserted or sewn into panties-diapers.

In addition, you can turn a disposable diaper into a reusable one. To do this, take a regular store or factory model, pre-washed. The filler is removed from the inside and a liner is installed, which is changed regularly. To secure the diaper, use an elastic band with Velcro.

How to use a gauze diaper correctly

  • Change disposable cloth diapers when they get wet. Don't let your baby stay wet for a long time;
  • The inserts in panties are changed up to ten times a day, the panties themselves are washed once a day;
  • Before a new diaper, wipe the skin dry and apply a special cream or gel for newborns and babies. When choosing products, look at the composition, expiration date and age for which they are intended;

  • Disposable diapers are washed after each use. For washing, use laundry soap or hypoallergenic baby powder;
  • Before use, the material is ironed, but it should not be hot!;
  • When the fabric or gauze turns yellow, you can use hydrogen peroxide for washing. Lather the material with laundry soap and place it in a solution with diluted hydrogen for several hours. For the solution, use two tablespoons of 3% hydrogen per five liters of water.

The advent of disposable diapers has made the life of a young mother much easier.

However, reusable gauze diapers should not be forgotten. They will come in handy more than once, and they will also help you save your budget.

It will not be superfluous to learn how to sew gauze diapers for newborns.

Can I use gauze diapers?

Every mother strives to choose the best for her newborn. With the advent of disposable diapers, hygienic and convenient, some mothers prefer to forget about reusable diapers. They are not just inconvenient, but also harmful. Can gauze diapers be used, or should we really avoid them?

To make the right decision, you need to weigh the pros and cons, that is, objectively evaluate a reusable diaper. Made from gauze, it has the following disadvantages:

  • a gauze diaper must be changed immediately, as moisture immediately seeps out;
  • You will have to wash all bedding and clothes along with the diaper;
  • if you leave a baby in a wet diaper, painful diaper rash will appear on the skin, and in the long term - dermatitis;
  • The baby’s and mother’s night’s sleep will not be complete, since they will have to constantly (5-6 times per night) wake up to change a soiled diaper;
  • You can’t walk in a gauze diaper in the cold season, at least not far from home;
  • Before use, gauze diapers must not only be washed, but also ironed. This takes precious energy and a lot of time.

The danger of catching a child's cold while walking or causing skin problems is what causes young mothers' concerns about whether gauze diapers can be used. In addition, reusable diapers are inconvenient for babies after one month of age. As soon as the child begins to move actively, it is almost impossible to keep the gauze pad in the right place. The use of safety pins, as practiced in the past, is extremely dangerous.

However, a gauze diaper has many advantages:

  • it will cost pennies compared to diapers, haggis and other disposable diapers, and you can use it for a very, very long time;
  • gauze is a natural fabric that allows the skin to breathe and provides air flow;
  • diapers are easy to wash and dry instantly;
  • when urinating, the gauze does not heat up, so the baby’s body does not overheat;
  • gauze does not cause allergies, unlike industrial disposable diapers.

So reusable napkins do not pose any danger to the baby, provided basic hygiene is observed. To the question whether gauze diapers can be used constantly, the answer is definitely yes. Again, if the mother changes them in a timely manner and does not allow diaper rash to appear. Moreover, in some cases, just such a diaper is indispensable.

When might a gauze diaper be needed?

Industrially produced disposable diapers are very convenient, but expensive. In addition, there are situations when using them is impossible or undesirable:

  • if the child has a fever (overheating in a disposable diaper is especially dangerous for infant boys);
  • if it is very hot outside (for the same reason);
  • if the mother wants to check whether the baby has enough milk, and for this purpose counts the number of urinations.

In all these cases, proven over decades, completely safe gauze diapers for newborns will come in handy. Of course, you will have to wash them after each use, but this is unlikely to be a big problem for a modern woman. Automatic cars will do everything for mom. The main thing is to prepare more gauze diapers.

How to make a gauze diaper: folding techniques

In order to make a gauze diaper, you will need a package of gauze, which can be purchased at any pharmacy. Diapers can be simply rolled or sewn from gauze (by hand or by machine). There are several ways to fold gauze diapers for newborns: with a scarf, a rectangle, and in a special way (Hungarian technique).

Nappy "kerchief"

Fold a piece of gauze in several layers to form a square measuring 90*90 cm. Fold it diagonally. Spread the resulting “scarf” on the changing table with the angle down.

Place the child on the diaper, turn the corner of the fabric up towards the tummy. Wrap the ends of the “scarf” around your stomach and secure the ends at the back.

Rectangular diaper

Take a piece of gauze measuring one meter by 60 cm. Roll it several times until you get a rectangular napkin 20 cm wide and 60 cm long.

Place the diaper vertically on the changing table. Fold the napkin at one end. If the diaper is intended for a girl, the thicker edge should be placed under the back, if for a boy - in front. Pass the second edge between the legs, secure the diaper with a thin diaper

Hungarian version of folding

Fold a piece of gauze into 3-4 layers to form a square with a side of 60 cm (or more, depending on the age and height of the child). Spread a gauze napkin on the table and fold it in half horizontally with the fold facing you. Extend the upper left corner to the upper right corner. On the top layer of fabric it turned out to be a rectangle.

Turn the entire structure over to the other side, like a pancake in a frying pan. If you lift the square of fabric up, you can see an “airplane” with triangular “wings” on the sides. The square center needs to be folded three times like an accordion. You will get a “scarf” diaper with a dense vertical padding in the center.

How to sew a gauze diaper

Self-made reusable diapers will definitely come in handy, so they need to be prepared in advance, before the mother and newborn return from the maternity hospital. If you use gauze diapers constantly, you will need from 18 to 22 of them per day. If the apartment is cool, the baby will urinate more often.

How to sew gauze diapers for newborns? After they are folded, all that remains is to sew the napkins using a machine or by hand. It is important that the seam is not rough, otherwise it will rub, causing anxiety for the baby.

The folded fabric is stitched along the edge of the product and ironed. The only purpose of the stitching is to maintain the shape of the diaper when cutting, so that you don't have to fold the gauze again. In addition, you can sew ties to the edges of such a diaper. They will allow you to fix the napkin on the baby's stomach.

If you use the product carefully, there is no need to process the edges. Yes, at first the ends of the gauze will fray. But after the first wash, the edges of the gauze will be fixed, and it will stop fraying.

By the way, you can sew reusable diapers not only from gauze. Moreover, the current pharmaceutical fabric is much worse in quality than the one from which diapers were made 20 years ago. It was tender, soft, and retained its fine-mesh structure after repeated washings. The current one forms stripes-scars, can be rough and not very pleasant for the baby’s delicate skin.

Madapolam is suitable for making homemade reusable diapers. This is a lightweight, breathable natural fabric that is very similar to gauze. In addition, very pleasant and highly absorbent diapers are made from old bedding. Frequent washing makes the fabric soft and delicate. The edges of woven diapers, unlike gauze ones, require obligatory overcasting.

How to wash gauze diapers

It’s not enough to know how to sew gauze diapers. It is important to learn the rules for caring for them.

Caring for gauze diapers for newborns is not difficult, but it requires effort and time. If the napkin is wet, you can simply rinse it thoroughly in clean water so as not to accumulate dirt, or throw it in the wash along with the diapers.

However, if the diaper is dirty, you will have to work with it carefully. You can wash diapers by hand every time, but it is tedious and time-consuming. Therefore there is another option. You need to prepare a bucket with a tight lid and dissolve a little baby powder in it.

Rinse the soiled napkin under running water and place it in a bucket. Do the same with other diapers. Before washing in the machine, everything that has accumulated during the day should be rinsed again, and the dirty areas should be rubbed with ordinary laundry soap. If you do this, no stains will remain after washing.

Dried gauze diapers for newborns must be ironed with a hot iron on both sides.
