Beaded palm tree step by step. Beaded palm tree

A beaded palm tree is an excellent interior decoration and an ideal gift for loved ones. Beadwork is valued all over the world for its uniqueness, durability and extraordinary beauty. Each of these crafts is a real work of art.

To create a palm tree, one of the simplest techniques is used - needle weaving. This type of beadwork is easy to learn and does not require special skills, so it is ideal for beginner needlewomen. The essence of needle weaving is as follows: according to the diagram, a certain number of beads are collected onto the wire, then the wire is threaded in the opposite direction, avoiding the latter. The resulting “needle” is fixed, tightened and the creation of the next ones begins. In this way, tree branches, leaves, and plant petals are made.

The proposed master class contains detailed step-by-step instructions on how to make a palm tree from beads using the needle weaving technique with your own hands.

Note to craftswomen

It is difficult for novice needlewomen to decide on the choice of accessories necessary for work. It is not easy to navigate the variety of specialized products presented. However, it should be noted that in beadwork, as in any other type of craft, there is a necessary set of tools that make work easier. We are talking about a spinning wheel for beads. This simple accessory helps to significantly reduce the time of stringing beads onto wire and makes the creator’s work easier. An indispensable tool for weaving leaves. Today there are two types of this device: manual and electric. The choice is yours.

To make trees, a fairly thin but flexible wire is required, so in bead making, copper wire is most often used, less often bronze. Today in specialized stores you can find a large assortment of copper-containing wires of different colors and sizes. The size of the wire depends on its thickness and is indicated in millimeters: 0.2; 0.3; 0.6 mm.

Buyers have the opportunity to choose a wire color to match the beads, this is a definite plus. The disadvantages include the relatively high cost of the reel and small footage. As a rule, one skein contains 10-50 m of wire.

As an alternative, you can suggest using winding copper wire, which is sold at radio markets (the length of the coil is about 300 m), or copper cable from an electrical goods store. The disadvantages of the latter include the rather lengthy and labor-intensive process of removing the wire from the cable.

When choosing beads, special attention should be paid to its size and shape. In our case, we will need round beads of small diameter. For convenience, sizing information is presented below.

The process of making our exotic souvenir can be divided into three stages: preparation, weaving, assembly. For clarity, each stage contains a photo. So let's get started.

Preparation stage

At this stage, you need to figure out what materials and tools will be needed for the job. Our composition consists of three trees and a base. For simplicity, the required amount of material is indicated based on the consumption per palm tree.

To create leaves we need:

  • round beads of two shades: light green and golden, about 50 and 30 g;
  • copper wire for beading, ∅ 0.3 mm – 30 m.

For the trunk you need to prepare:

  • copper wire, ∅ 1 mm - 2 m;
  • threads for decoration - 2 pcs.

To prepare the base of the craft, the following is used: a small round shape made of any material, gypsum or alabaster, PVA glue, super glue, acrylic paints, decorative stones and shells for decoration.

Weaving stage

The preparatory activities are over, let's start weaving the leaves. To make our tropical trees look more natural, we place leaves of different lengths on the trunk in 3 rows. At the same time, we use different crown weaving patterns for each level.

For the first row you will need 6-8 leaves, 9 pairs of needles each. The wire consumption for each leaf is about 70 cm. A diagram of weaving a palm leaf of the 1st row is attached.

The 2nd and 3rd rows consist of 10-12 leaves with 11 pairs of needles each. One sheet will require 80-90 cm of wire.

We measure and cut about 2 m of wire. We take 7 beads of light green color and string them, add 2 more golden shades. Then we bend the wire in half and, without touching the last bead, thread the wire through the remaining 8 in the opposite direction, as shown in the photo.

We tighten the work, spreading the ends of the wire in different directions. The first needle - the top of the leaf is ready.

In the same sequence, we collect 5 green and 2 golden beads on the right wire. Next, we thread the wire in the polar direction, bypassing the outermost one. We perform similar actions with the left wire. It turned out to be three needles.

We fix the resulting “trident” by twisting the wire two or three times. We put on a green bead and twist the wire once.

We separate the ends of the wire in different directions and continue to weave needles according to the same principle, repeating steps 2-3.

The needles are ready, now you need to create a leg for the leaf, to do this we twist the ends of the wire into one and put on 10 green beads.

The first copy is ready.

Using the diagrams, we continue to complete the remaining parts of the crown.

A handmade beaded palm tree will be an unusual decoration for a room or a gift for a loved one. A beautiful exotic tree is woven in a variety of ways: needle weaving, parallel and loop methods.

This master class prepared for beginning needlewomen to make a tropical tree step by step with their own hands using a loop technique.

Preparing for work

To make a palm tree about 35 cm high, we will prepare the following materials:

  • a 40 cm piece of copper or any other rigid wire with a cross-sectional diameter of at least 1 mm
  • about 30 m of sufficient soft wire with a cross-sectional diameter of no more than 0.3 mm
  • beads green and brown
  • large beads 5-6 pieces
  • floral tape
  • toothpicks
  • pair of wooden sticks about 40 cm
  • container for wood
  • acrylic paints

Step-by-step instructions

We take a piece of soft wire about 1.5 m and string beads on it, leaving a free edge of about 40 cm. We wind a wire strung with beads onto a piece of elastic wire to the end with the free end.

Separate approximately 3 cm of collected glass beads and fold the loop.

The wire at the base of the loop from the trunk must be twisted several times around its axis so that the beads on the branch are held tightly and do not fall apart.

In this way, we continue to create leaf segments until the branch size is about 10 cm. Having made 10-15 branches, we begin to assemble palm branches from them.

We twist the finished twigs into a bundle of 3 pieces using tape.

We collect the resulting 2-3 bunches together and connect them together in the same way as individual branches - with floral tape and inserting wooden sticks between them.

Continuing the winding around the branches, we insert toothpicks around the resulting trunk to give our palm the shape of a real tree.
After all the branches are collected together, it is necessary to branch the roots for stability and carefully straighten all the branches to the sides and bend downward, but not too much. Because the branches of the palm tree are arched in appearance.

Making coconuts for a tropical palm tree

Let's move on to creating coconuts with which we will decorate the palm tree. We take several large beads and brown beads prepared in advance and cut off a soft wire about 30 cm long. We pass the wire through the hole of the bead and string brown beads about 2.5 cm long on one side.

The end of the wire on which the beads were strung is threaded through the hole of the bead in a loop. We repeat these loops until the beads cover the entire bead.

You can secure the resulting coconuts using a glue gun. We fix the tree itself in a plaster solution or a plasticine stand. After the base of the finished souvenir has hardened, it can, if desired, be decorated with acrylic paints or gouache.

This will be an original and pleasant gift for your loved ones, will complement the interior of any room and will not leave anyone indifferent. Will create an atmosphere of comfort, warmth and summer mood! I wish you success in your creativity and new achievements in your needlework!

Bead weaving is a very exciting activity. You can create unique compositions to decorate your home. For example, a beaded palm tree will serve as a wonderful addition to your interior. The weaving pattern is not complicated and is accessible even for beginners.

The finished palm tree can be decorated with banana bunches or coconuts and placed in a beautiful stand. The composition of 3 palm trees looks especially beautiful. So that you can create such a palm tree with your own hands, we have compiled a master class with photo materials on weaving a palm tree with banana decoration especially for you.

We weave a voluminous palm tree from beads in a step-by-step master class

To weave a banana palm tree from beads we will need:

    Beads made of colored glass of the same size. You will need green, yellow, brown.

  1. Thin wire, it is better to take 0.3 mm in diameter.
  2. Wooden stick or pencil
  3. Thick threads
Leaves.

To make leaves for our palm tree you need to take about 70 cm wire and green beads. We need to make the leaves different in length, like a real palm tree. This will make the palm tree look more beautiful. You can weave leaves in two ways - using the coral technique and parallel weaving. To weave leaves using the parallel weaving technique, the following diagram will help you:

The smallest

1st row: 1 bead;
2nd row: 2 beads;
3rd row: 3 beads;
4th row: 4 beads;
5th row: 5 beads;
6th row: 4 beads;
7th row: 3 beads;
8th row: 2 beads;
9th row: 1 bead.

This way we make 4 small palm leaves.

The middle leaves are made according to the following scheme:

That is, one bead is added every two rows; when we reach the 10th row, we string 6 beads and begin to decrease the number, one every two rows. In total you need to make 20 rows in this way.
Make 4 medium palm leaves

Large palm leaves need to be woven in the same way as medium ones, only the number of rows used increases. In total you need to make 24 rows. That is, in the 12th and 13th rows we will use 7 beads each. We need to make 5 large palm leaves.

To make leaves using the coral technique, you need to collect the required number of beads on each “needle” of the leaf. For each leaf we make a stem several beads long and leave a free tail, for which we will attach the leaves to the trunk.

Now you need to bend the leaves a little to make them look like real ones.

Bananas.

To create an imitation of a bunch of bananas, take 2 pieces of wire 30 cm each. We thread 1 yellow bead through both pieces of wire and lower it down 15 cm, that is, to the middle. We take another 40 beads and thread 10 pieces onto each end of the double wire. We roll it in the shape of a sickle and finish weaving the bananas by threading the last bead through the 4 ends of the wire and tightening it tightly.

We make three such bundles and weave them together. (you can do more if you wish)

Trunk.

For the stem you need to take an ordinary thin stick (wooden or bamboo) or a wooden pencil.

Assembly.

1) Connect the large leaves all together.

2) We fix it on the palm tree trunk at the very top. You can attach it by wrapping the wire around the trunk, but it is better to wrap it tightly with a thick thread.

3) Just below we attach the middle leaves one at a time, and even lower we need to place the smallest leaves. We also attach banana bunches using thread or wire.

4) Now we need to decorate the trunk of our palm tree with beads. To do this, we tie the trunk of our palm tree with brown beads. Take a long piece of wire and string brown beads onto it. We wrap the trunk of the palm tree tightly (possibly in several rows) with wire with beads strung on it. It is necessary that the base of the trunk does not show through. Now carefully secure it, hiding the ends if possible.

We cut off the remaining wire from the bottom. We place our tree in the stand and straighten it. If desired, the base of the palm tree can be decorated with colored pebbles and shells. Our unique palm tree woven from beads is ready.

It is not necessary to strictly follow the pattern; you can vary the number of beads at your own discretion, changing the length or thickness of the product.

Video on the topic of the article

We also invite you to watch a selection of detailed video lessons that we have selected for you on the topic of weaving a palm tree from beads, which may be useful to you.

Do you miss summer or just want some warmth? Then you can create such a small souvenir in the form of a tropical island. The center of our island will be a palm tree made of beads, which we propose to create according to our master class.

Tools and materials Time: 24 hours Difficulty: 4/10

  • transparent green beads;
  • copper wire;
  • for the trunk, a stick 15 cm long;
  • twine.

Step-by-step master class with photos

If you add a couple of large brown beads during the process, you can imitate coconuts on a palm tree.

Step 1: weaving leaves

Unwind a 1 meter long piece from the ball of wire. Then we string 5 green beads on it and send them to the middle of the wire piece. Then we find the last, 5th bead, and, bypassing it, draw the wire through the remaining 4 beads.

We also make two more such leaves.

Then, in parallel weaving, we weave one green bead, then another. That is, it turns out that between each pair of leaves we will always have 2 rows of one bead.

Step 2: form a large sheet

We continue to weave the required number of rows.
This is what our finished palm leaf looks like.

This is the pattern we used to weave our leaf. In total, we still have 5 more of these left to make.

And here is the second diagram, according to it we will weave the same number of leaves. By the way, it is not at all necessary to weave strictly according to the pattern; you can experiment.

Step 3: attach the branches to the trunk

The basis for our palm tree, that is, the trunk, will be a stick, no more than 1 cm thick. We first screw the shorter leaves to it, and then the longer ones in a circle.

Step 4: decorate the trunk

Now we decorate the trunk using paper tape, and wrap it on top with wool yarn of a suitable color. The base for the palm tree can be made from gypsum, having previously diluted it to the state of liquid sour cream. And decorate the finished palm tree with coconuts made of plasticine.

Here's a fun master class with photos on beading a palm tree. The beaded palm tree is ready and evokes thoughts of a warm summer, despite the fact that it still has to wait.

So, I usually make palm trees from light yellow-green beads - the color of the foliage, as well as an amber or honey shade - imitation of leaves faded under the scorching sun. You can also make it from dark beads, this way the palm tree will look more alive, but, made in light colors, it seems flooded with sunlight, even if it is standing in a poorly lit corner. Well, these are my observations, which are not necessarily true. I take these beads (sorry, there was no better container than a matchbox)

Sometimes I make palm trees consisting of leaves of equal length, and sometimes I make them from several types. The palm tree consists of three tiers. I usually make the top one from small leaves made using the needle technique, consisting of six pairs of needles. But you can also make it from the full length - 9,10 or 11 pairs. It will look more like a real palm tree, but I usually make short ones, so they turn out round.
One full long sheet takes about 75-80 cm of wire (I save a lot and use 60-65, but I don’t recommend being so stingy, otherwise a very small and inconvenient tail may remain). For a short one, in six pairs, about 55 cm. Between pairs of needles I always insert a bead, it’s more beautiful.
The first is the central needle, always one bead longer than the rest (again for reasons of beauty) - 7 beads (the best option, identified by trial and error - the leaves are not too “noodled” and not too prickly). The remaining needles are for 6 beads.

You can make the palm tree monochromatic, or you can make it a victim of tanning and dry out the tips of the leaves. We will dry it with honey beads. So, the tips of the needles will start with yellow and end with green. I usually gradually reduce the dryness to a minimum towards the end of the sheet, reducing yellow beads every two or three pairs of needles. But I can also decrease it in each pair.
There you can experiment with the intensity of the tan; sometimes my leaves may be completely yellow at the end, but at the beginning they are barely green, and may have only slightly yellowed edges. And sometimes the dryness at the edges can be the same across all the needles on the leaf. The photo below shows leaves with different colors.

We complete the leaf with a leg, which consists of 10 beads, in our case it goes from the leaf green to the trunk yellow in an arbitrary extent of one color or another.
The first tier usually takes 6-7 leaves, but it can be thicker, as long as you don’t overdo it.
I usually alternate the second tier with leaves of medium and full length - 65-70 cm (8 pairs of needles) wire and 75-80 cm (10-11 pairs of needles), which go in turn. Usually about 10-12 leaves are needed for the second and third tier. You can make the leaves right away, but I usually do them by trying them on the trunk, so as not to weave too much.
Now let's give the leaves a shape. To do this, bend the first two or three pairs of needles from the end of the sheet forward towards the middle needle.

Then we just put the leaf on our finger (I have an index finger), with the end of the leaf towards the end of the finger, and just bend the needles down, not too much, just according to the shape of the finger.

And so it is with everyone. Now the leaves are ready.
When all the leaves are finished, we proceed to the trunk. We take our thick wire and cut it into five pieces, approximately 40cm long. If there is a very thick wire or even some kind of rod, naturally you can do without these manipulations. We wind the cut rods tightly at one end. This will be the beginning.

And it’s the turn of our plastic lid (I don’t have one now, I had to take a marmalade tray). Again, it is not necessary to do all this; I do this to protect the threads and the palm from destruction due to the sharp edges of the wire. My resourcefulness was only enough for this, if you think that you don’t need it or know a better way - go ahead. We take matches and plastic and go to a secluded place that is safe for our operation (for me it’s the bathroom). There we set the lid on fire and simply dip the tip of the barrel into the melted plastic. Now it is covered with a layer of plastic and is not sharp.

Well, let's start wrapping the leaves. There is no need to be too zealous; first, let’s just grab and fix them, placing them around the trunk.

In the middle we have a sort of bald spot.

Now we cover it with a layer of threads, wrapping them between the leaves crosswise and in all directions until the bald spot disappears from sight.

Now you can securely tie the ends of the leaves to the trunk; if something has slipped, you can pull it up by the freely protruding tail right under the threads. You can grab the trunk about three centimeters under the leaves with threads, a slight thickening in that part will benefit us; when creating the second and third tiers, you will need more leaves, which means the palm tree will be more magnificent. You need to immediately wind the threads neatly and beautifully, because later it is better not to treat this part with anything when decorating the trunk, it is very inconvenient and there is a risk of staining the leaves. Although this is your choice.
Next, we begin to wrap the leaves of the second tier.
