2. We apply glue to the skeleton; it is better to use one that should be allowed to dry for a while before further use.
3. We cut the paper and attach the strips to the adhesive base, or you can use real feathers by simply scattering them on the metal body of the future wings.
4. We wait several hours for the material to attach tightly.
5. Ropes or tapes are usually used as parts attaching this part of the costume to the back, but the former will hold the improvised structure much more firmly.

Now you need to make a halo. The main elements are metal wire and Christmas tree tinsel; in addition, you need a headband.

1. Cut two pieces from the wire and wrap the ends tightly around the rim.
2. We roll the other piece in the shape of a circle and connect it with the previous sections by folding it on its opposite sides.
3. Using tape or glue, we connect the tinsel to the resulting circle, or, as an option, we decorate it with artificial snow.

This is important for choosing material:

• It is better to take soft or medium-hard tulle, as hard tulle will prick.
• With a tulle width of 1.5 m, for a 5-year-old child you will need approximately 3 meters of fabric. This fabric will be enough to sew a short skirt - a tutu, creating an airy snowflake image.

How to make a snowflake costume: step-by-step description

Step 1. Cutting tulle into strips.

We cut the tulle into strips 10 cm wide and up to 25 cm long, depending on the desired length of the skirt.

How to do this more conveniently:

It is more convenient to use a stationery knife for cutting tulle rather than scissors.

How to properly use a utility knife to make strips:

• We make a strip template from cardboard 10 cm wide and 25 cm long.
• We place a piece of linoleum, a patchwork mat or an old magazine on the table (so as not to cut the surface of the table with a stationery knife when working). On it is tulle folded in half.
• We apply a template to the edge of the tulle folded in half.
• Next, along the ruler, cut off the strip with a stationery knife.

Step 2. Prepare the belt of the snowflake costume.

Take a wide elastic band and sew it into a circle (according to the child’s waist size). This will be the belt of our tutu skirt.

Step 3. Making a skirt tier template.

We make another template from cardboard, as wide as an elastic band and 15 cm long. This template will help us carefully and evenly tie strips of tulle onto an elastic band.

Step 4. We begin to assemble the tier of the skirt.

For this:

• We apply the cardboard template we made in step 3 to the elastic band.
• fold one strip of tulle in half, place it under the elastic so that it forms a loop (the fold of the strip “looks” upward),
• We insert the ends of the tulle strip into the resulting loop and tighten the knot.

We attached one strip, then another next to it. We move them tightly towards each other. And so we form a fluffy skirt - a tutu.

How to decorate a snowflake costume for a girl

The basis of the snowflake costume is already ready. Now you can decorate it.

Decoration with knitted snowflakes

Irina knitted 16 snowflakes of different sizes for the girl’s costume and starched them.

How to starch knitted snowflakes to decorate a girl’s costume:

To decorate a costume, snowflakes need to be heavily starched.

• Take 2 tablespoons of starch per liter of water, cook jelly (after stirring the starch in a small amount of cold water, pour this mixture into boiling water in a thin stream and stir so that there are no lumps).
• After cooling, we place our snowflakes in warm jelly and keep them in it for a short time.
• We squeeze out and lay out the snowflakes on a hard surface, straightening their rays.
• When the snowflakes dry a little, they need to be ironed through a cloth.

We paint the snowflakes with acrylic paints (lightly) so that they do not get lost on the white background of the costume.

Decorate the girl's costume with snowflakes. We sew snowflakes onto a gymnastics leotard, cuffs and boots, hang them on threads on a tulle skirt, and decorate the child’s hair with them. Irina’s daughter even had a small snowflake attached to her plastic ring.

All that remains is to dress up in a suit (tights-gymnastics suit-skirt-shoes and cuffs) and our snowflake can “fly” to the winter holiday and spin in a waltz!

For the snowflake costume you need to prepare:

• Knitwear – 70 x 70 cm
• Soft mesh – 40 x 150 cm
• Non-woven adhesive
• Common sewing supplies: white thread, needle, etc.
• Satin blue ribbon – 60 cm
• Snowflake on the head (can be knitted, or cut from thick fabric and starched, or used ready-made)
• White tights

Step-by-step description of sewing a snowflake dress

Step 1. Create a dress pattern.

Using the dress pattern drawing below, construct a life-size pattern of the future product on paper. This pattern is given for a girl aged 6-7 years.

To create another pattern, you need measurements: dress width = OB + 3 cm. The length of the dress is chosen independently.

Step 2. Cutting out the details of the dress from fabric.

Fold the material in half with the right side facing inward. Transfer the pattern to the fabric using chalk or a piece of soap, cut out the parts without seam allowances. We received 2 parts of the dress: front and back.

Step 3. Processing the seams.

We process the parts using an overlocker or a zigzag seam on a sewing machine.

Step 4. Stitch the side seams.

Step 5. Processing the armhole.

We glue the armholes with interlining, bend them 0.5 cm with the front side to the wrong side and sew them on.

Step 6. Processing the neck.

Fold the right side to the wrong side 2 cm and sew.

Step 7. Processing the bottom of the dress:

- cut 20 cm of soft mesh,

— fold the mesh so that the top part is 2 cm less than the bottom (see diagram below),

- sew the mesh into a circle and assemble it so that the width of the mesh matches the width of the hem of the dress.

Step 8. Final assembly of the dress.

Ironing the dress. We insert the rest of the mesh into the neck and tie a beautiful bow on the side. The dress for the snowflake costume is ready.

To finally create the image of a snowflake, we make a headband. We measure the circumference of the girl's head. Cut a blue satin ribbon length: OG – 2 (3) cm. There are two ways: go to the store and buy fabric, for example, white tulle for a skirt, and at the top you can use a white T-shirt.

Or you can rummage through yours and your grandmother’s “chest” and look for old, but little-worn white, blue blouses and dresses suitable for the New Year’s snowflake. Especially shiny things that have long gone out of fashion, but have not lost their sparkle.

Pattern of a New Year's costume for a girl very simple, no special knowledge of a cutter or dressmaker is needed.

Let's imagine the image of a snowflake and choose the fabric for the New Year's dress. So, a white dress is the ideal solution, but a blue dress is also possible, because ice and water have shades of blue and white. The suit can be sewn as a dress or used as a skirt with a blouse or T-shirt.

The fabric is white tulle, the stiffness is better than medium. We cut out 50 pieces of this fabric, 20 cm wide and the length of the product.

The belt is a thick elastic band 2 cm wide. The length of the belt will be four cm less than the waist circumference.
