Quilling large flowers. Quilling paintings of flowers, bouquets: master class with photos and videos

Hello friends!

It's no secret that paper flowers are one of the most popular elements of quilling decor. They can serve as an effective decoration for gift boxes and caskets, postcards, panels, all kinds of 3D compositions and so on. At the same time, the methods of making flowers using the quilling technique are very diverse, each with its own rules and nuances. And today’s master class is designed to help beginners figure out how to make quilling flowers with their own hands, clarify their classification for themselves and master the basic practical techniques of making them using “live” examples. As usual, the lesson was prepared for you by Ekaterina Shkodovskaya, and she has the floor.

Materials and tools:

quilling paper,

scallop,

PVA glue.

Flowers using the quilling technique can be divided into several categories:

1. Flowers made using ordinary quilling elements.

2. Three-dimensional flowers made using ordinary quilling elements.

3. Openwork quilling flowers.

4. Flowers without using quilling elements.

So, let's look at all these categories in order using specific examples.

Flowers made using ordinary quilling elements, such as “drop”, “eye”, “wave”, etc. (See for more information on making basic quilling elements).

The colors of this group include quilling cornflowers, manufactured as follows:

- first we make 6 “drop” elements of bright blue color and use our finger to give them the shape of an “arrow”;

- then we make the middle of the flower: cut the fringe on a paper strip 1 cm wide and roll the strip into a roll.

After gluing the center and petals, you should get a cornflower like this:

From the same elements from which the quilling cornflower petals were made, and a convex roll, you can make charming carnations for a postcard for February 23 or Victory Day:

And if you twist tight yellow rolls and glue several white “drop” elements to them, you will get quilling daisies:

By the way, these daisies can also be used to make a three-dimensional composition, for example, a bouquet.

Generally speaking, a wide variety of flowers can be created from quilling elements. The main thing in this matter is observation and imagination.

As you can see, making quilling flowers such as a tulip or iris will also not be at all difficult.

Volumetric flowers- technically more complex. The peculiarity of their manufacture is to use a paper cone like this as a base:

For clarity, I suggest doing orchid quilling. First of all, we need to prepare one “eye” element and two “crescent” elements (from white paper strips). Glue them together as shown in the photo to make a large petal.

We will need two of these petals.

In addition, you will need two wave elements.

From a tightly twisted small roll we will make a small cone (simply squeezing out the middle with our finger).

And before we start assembling the flower, we’ll tint the cone with a red stamp pad.

This is what the entire set of quilling orchid parts looks like:

Now let’s assemble it: glue the largest petal to the inner surface of the cone base, glue two smaller petals on top, then glue two “wave” elements and a small tinted cone in the center of the flower.

You can decorate a greeting card with orchids using the quilling technique, for example, like this:

Another flower that can also be made on a paper cone is a water lily. It will be a beautiful lush flower. It is easier to make it than an orchid, because for this, in addition to the cone itself, you will only need “drop” elements, albeit in quite a large quantity.

When all the components of the flower are prepared, we begin to glue the petals to the convex surface of the cone (in one row). Let it dry thoroughly, then turn the workpiece over and glue the petals inside the cone, filling the entire space.

The number of rows of petals is individual and depends on the size of the water lily.

You can complement the floral decor with quilling leaves and curls.

If, instead of a regular petal, you place a small fringed flower in the center of the water lily, you will get a gerbera :)

Openwork quilling flowers - These are flowers using openwork elements made from loops - the so-called loop quilling elements. Such elements can be made on the hands, using a comb or pins. Let's look at exactly how to do this using the example of poppies and fancy quilling flowers, which do not yet have a name :).

For making quilling poppy Let's take red stripes. First we make one loop with a tuck at the end,

then we add a few more loops in the same way until there is a piece of strip left with which we will wrap these loops. If you release the workpiece at this stage, you will get something like this:

But we won’t do this, but wrap the loops with the remaining part of the strip and seal it.

The result is an openwork element that will serve as a poppy petal.

We need four such petals. We will also twist a tight black roll, which we will wrap in a small fringe (also black).

We glue the petals with the cores - and the quilling poppies are ready, you can decorate cards or other handicrafts with them.

Now I'll show you how to make looped elements on a comb. We take a strip and begin to wrap the scallop teeth, making loops that increase in size with each turn. Having covered four cloves on one side and four on the other, remove the workpiece from the comb...

And bend it in half.

We wrap the element with the remaining tip of the strip and seal it.

A two-color looped element (made of paper in similar or contrasting tones) will look especially impressive. In this case, you need to first glue 2 halves of strips of different colors and wind the two-color strip on a comb.

Let's give the petal a pointed shape at the end. The result was an interesting and unusual flower.

And here is another version of an openwork quilling flower made from looped elements.

Let's stop here for now. Next time, Ekaterina will tell you how to make quilling flowers from the fourth group (subscribe to updates so as not to miss the continuation of MK). You will find another acquaintance with fringed flowers, as well as 2 ways to make roses from paper.

See you soon in KARTONKINO! :)

Paper products are very popular among most needlewomen. One of the types of creating paper crafts is quilling. Postcards, pictures, crafts will take on an original look. In most schools, quilling classes are already held during craft lessons, and teachers write lesson notes.

The most common product using the quilling technique is a flower. It can be created in all sorts of shapes and sizes, made flat, or vice versa, voluminous. It is even possible to create a bouquet with your own hands. But this will require patience and perseverance, since the work is quite painstaking and requires your attention. Below is a small master class on creating flowers using the quilling technique.

What materials will be needed to make all kinds of flowers:

  1. First of all, this is, of course, special paper. It can be thin or wide. There are sets with all possible colors, and there are also solid ones. You should choose based on the color of your future product. You can make such paper yourself: cut formatted colored sheets into strips no larger than 1 cm. This is the optimal size.
  2. A thin rod that is required for winding workpieces. You can use a gypsy needle, an awl, an empty pen refill, a toothpick, etc. as it.
  3. Tweezers, which you will need to perform painstaking work. For example, such as applying glue to a corner of paper.
  4. Sharp scissors, PVA glue, compass, pencil and ruler, as well as a small brush.

It is with the help of these materials and tools that we will create future products. Quilling is a fairly small technique, so in order for your work to look neat and beautiful, you need to use
tweezers and a small brush.

Professionals have special machines for creating blanks, cutting strips and fringes. But most do it manually.

Before you start creating serious crafts, you can practice by creating a simple card. This will help you master the technique, understand its principles and know what not to do.

Some useful tips for beginners:

  1. To ensure that your blanks (rolls) are the same size, you need to purchase a special blank or ruler.
  2. Don't use too much glue - it can ruin the look of your product. You can apply it using a thin brush or toothpick.
  3. There is no need to rush to do everything faster. Accuracy and accuracy are important here.

It can take a beginner an hour to create one flower! But there is no need to rush, make your flower beautiful and neat. You will find small lessons in this article.

Basic shapes:

  • Paw;
  • Arrow;
  • Wing;
  • Spiral;
  • Eye;
  • Triangle;
  • Leaf;
  • Month;
  • Square;
  • Rhombus;
  • Semicircle;
  • Tulip;
  • Oval.

It is these shapes that are used to create flowers using the quilling technique. They can be combined with each other, modified, and show your imagination.

How to make flowers using quilling

Using the quilling technique, you can make a wide variety of flowers: asters, dandelions, white daisies, roses, chrysanthemums, yellow daffodils, sunflowers, spring snowdrops, irises, cornflowers, orchids, various wildflowers, forget-me-nots, lilies, blue pansies, poppies, peonies . An orchid will also decorate any flower arrangement, as well as lotus, mimosa, and carnation. There are a great variety of flowers. You can use ready-made diagrams with detailed descriptions.

Making dandelions step by step:

  1. First of all, the yellow strip of paper needs to be cut into fringe. Do this with straight nail scissors. Then the fringe will be very thin and will give the flower the desired structure.
  2. Prepare the green strip: cut it with a “fence”, the ends pointed upward. Very carefully glue it to the end of the yellow strip. Make sure that the glue does not stick together the openwork edge.
  3. We begin to roll a tight roll. As a result, you will get a small yellow bud with green leaves.
  4. Now you need to give the dandelion volume. We fluff it up well.
  5. Using your finger, press the cone inside the roll. Glue the stem and leaves inside.

Dandelions are ready! They will remind you of spring and delight you with a good mood. Handmade products bring much more positive emotions than purchased ones.

Daffodil manufacturing technology:

  1. It is necessary to purchase or prepare tapes of 3mm sizes.
  2. Prepare a suitable background.
  3. We begin making the first flower. It will consist of six petals, the form of manufacture is an eye. To make an eye, we make a spiral, compress the opposite edges and give the required shape.
  4. The second flower will consist of only two petals. We twist the spiral and give it the shape of an eye. The core of this flower is a triangle. It is made very simply; a spiral of stripes is compressed in three places.
  5. Now you need to make a stamen. It will be a wide ribbon (about 1 cm wide), twisted into a tight spiral.
  6. We make the core of the first flower - cut the fringe into a strip and roll it into a roll, fluffing it.
  7. Leaflets are paper strips of different lengths. Lengths can be taken from 8 to 15 cm.
  8. Let's start assembling the craft.
  9. The leaves are double folded ribbons with glued curved edges.
  10. On our background we glue the core of the first flower - a spiral with a fringe. We place three petals symmetrically around it. Then, between the already glued petals, add the remaining three. The first flower is ready.
  11. The second flower is laid out like this: the triangle core is glued in the middle, and two eye petals are sent out from its edges.
  12. Now the crafts are glued with leaves.

So the flower craft with daffodils is ready.

Making a flower using the quilling technique

Most craftsmen use a comb (loop quilling) to make blank shapes. A strip is attached to the comb, and then the figures are made using a special technique.

Using this technique you can make a wide variety of flowers. The stages of execution will depend on the shape of the parts.

Using a comb, you can make various fantasy types and shapes, using them in subsequent crafts.

Interesting options for creating crafts with flowers:

  • Riding a bicycle with a basket of flowers. This composition looks very romantic and sweet. Making a bicycle is easy.
  • Branch with sakura flowers.
  • White winter flower.
  • Vase filled with flowers.
  • Hare with a bouquet of flowers.

Sakura is one of the options for creating a fake. It contains both flowers and a tree trunk. To decorate the composition, you can add additional details to the background.

Quilling master class: flowers

Gerberas using the quilling technique – these three-dimensional quilling products look very beautiful. Such a complex flower will consist of 64 petals, and their core is a fringed nut. Before starting work, prepare a funnel with a radius of 2-2.5 cm.

Manufacturing instructions:

  1. The flower can be made in any colors: red, yellow, light pink. Once you have chosen the color, you need to cut the strips. Their width should be no more than 2 mm.
  2. We roll them into rolls of the same diameter. (30 pieces - diameter 14mm, 16 pieces - diameter 9mm, 18 pieces - diameter 7 mm), To do this, use a special ruler.
  3. Each roll should be given the shape of a drop: we pinch the edge of the roll with our fingers, and gradually pull it out using pressing movements.
  4. After you have shaped all the pieces, glue 15 large droplets together into a circle.
  5. Glue our first circle onto the funnel.
  6. On the back side of the workpiece you need to glue the remaining large droplets. This will give your flower the required volume.
  7. Now we glue a circle from blanks with a diameter of 9 mm. We also do the same with the smallest size workpieces.
  8. Let's make the core of the flower. To do this, we need one black strip, 4 mm wide, and three strips, 8 mm wide, cut into fringe. We twist the black strip into a tight spiral, and then glue the remaining strips with an openwork edge to it one by one. The core is ready. All that remains is to fluff the fringe a little;
  9. We assemble the flower: we insert the core with the fringe into a circle of the smallest petals, then we also insert their middle parts into the circle. Generously coat the back of the flower with glue and insert it into the blank with a funnel.

As a result, you should get a beautiful three-dimensional gerbera flower.

Quilling flowers (video)

Quilling perfectly develops fine motor skills of students' fingers; this activity is fun, relaxing, and the result of the work pleases for a long time.

Crafts using the quilling technique are beautiful and unusual. Various master classes with diagrams show how to make them. They are useful for beginner needlewomen.

Materials for working with quilling technique

To create works using the quilling technique, the following tools and materials are required:

  • paper strips;
  • roll creation tool;
  • glue or glue gun;
  • stencil ruler;
  • scissors;
  • tweezers;
  • safety pins;
  • craft knife;
  • ruler;
  • basis for gluing parts of the composition.

Paper strips can be purchased ready-made at the store. Another option is to cut purchased colored sheets yourself with a stationery knife, fixing the width with a ruler. The paper thickness should be from 120 g/m2.

A stencil ruler is necessary to create elements of the same diameter. Scissors and tweezers should be chosen with pointed edges. They are necessary for creating fringe and precise placement of elements in the composition.

Safety pins are used to secure parts of the craft during gluing for greater accuracy. A cork mat is recommended as a base for gluing., since paper elements treated with glue do not stick to it. It can be replaced by a piece of polystyrene foam of the required size, wrapped in thick cellophane.

For beginners mastering the creation of crafts using the quilling technique, it is important to carefully study the patterns and listen to the advice of experienced craftsmen.

For more color when creating flowers It is recommended to combine stripes of different shades. A harmonious combination of different types and shapes of curls and rolls will help make your work extraordinary.

If the strip is not long enough, you need to use glue to connect the two strips and press tightly. Thus, the transition will be almost invisible.

Quilling for beginners: how to make a drop

The basic element of quilling is a drop. To create it, you need a minimum of materials: a paper strip of the required width and a quilling tool.

The procedure for creating it is as follows:

  1. One edge of the strip must be curled with a fingernail or a ruler.
  2. Insert it into the slot of the quilling tool and begin to roll it tightly into a roll.
  3. Remove the workpiece and lower it slightly (the size of the drop depends on the degree of untwisting). Secure the free end with glue.
  4. Using your thumb and forefinger, gently squeeze the workpiece from one edge, forming a sharp end.

Simple flowers using quilling technique: step-by-step instructions

Quilling crafts for beginners, diagrams on how to make a simple flower, are available to everyone.

To create it you need:

  • paper strips 0.6 cm wide;
  • glue;
  • tweezers;
  • quilling tool;
  • stencil ruler;
  • bead.

Using a tool and a ruler, you need to form 5 identical spirals from paper strips (based on the principle of creating a drop). Secure the free ends with glue.

Using tweezers or your fingers, create a boat-shaped petal from the blank. Do the same with the remaining spirals. The petals should be the same length.

Glue the first two petals at the very base so that they are opposite each other. Then carefully glue the remaining three. Glue a bead into the middle of the flower.

Volumetric flowers: chamomile, sunflower

To create a voluminous chamomile you will need:

  • paper strips of white (10-12 pcs.) and yellow (1 pc.) colors;
  • green paper circle with a diameter of 2 cm;
  • scissors;
  • quilling tool;
  • glue;
  • wire;
  • floral ribbon – green.

Form elongated drops from white paper strips 3-5 mm wide. Cut a yellow strip 8-10 mm wide with fringe in increments of 1-2 mm. Twist the core using a quilling tool. Seal the free edge with glue.

Cut the paper circle to the middle and glue it into a cone at a large angle. Glue the petals tightly to each other along the edge of the cone.

Wrap the wire with floral tape and pierce the base of the cone. Place a yellow core on the edge of the wire. For additional strength, its bottom must be coated with glue and pressed against the cone.

To create a sunflower you will need:

  • paper strips of yellow, black and green;
  • stencil ruler;
  • quilling tool;
  • wire;
  • floral tape (green);
  • safety pins;
  • green cardboard circle with a diameter of 3-3.5 cm;
  • glue gun and PVA glue.

Using a quilling tool, twist the yellow strips into rolls. Lower them to a diameter of 3 cm (for convenience, it is recommended to use a suitable size stencil in a ruler). Secure the free edge with glue.

Give the finished spiral the shape of a drop. Using safety pins, move the center of the spiral towards the elongated edge. Secure with a drop of PVA glue.

When it dries, you need to remove the pins and firmly squeeze the opposite edge of the workpiece with your fingers. It should become sharp. There should be at least 25 such petals per flower. The width of the strips is optional – from 3 to 7 mm.

Black strips 3 mm wide must be rolled into tight rolls and secured with glue. Make them convex by slightly pushing out the middle. They must be made at least 20 pieces.

Make a cone from a green cardboard circle. Pierce its base with a wire wrapped with floral tape. Using a glue gun, the black spirals are attached tightly to each other in the middle of the cone. In this case, you should leave 0.3-0.5 cm of a free edge on which the petals will be glued.

They must be placed in close proximity to each other, but not tightly. In two layers, one of which is on top and the other on the bottom of the cone. At the convex base of the cone, twisted green paper strips 3-5 cm long and 3 mm wide are glued in a circle.

How to make a chrysanthemum

Quilling crafts for beginners - diagrams on how to make a chrysanthemum are very clear.

To work you will need:

  • white paper strips 3 mm wide;
  • scissors;
  • tweezers;
  • quilling tool;

Step-by-step video instructions for creating a chrysanthemum using the quilling technique:

Cut paper strips in large quantities into pieces of 9, 7, 5 and 3 cm. Fold them in half. Using a quilling tool, twist the ends of the strips 0.5-1 cm on each side.

Glue two 9 cm strips crosswise. Consistently glue the remaining pieces at a slight angle, forming the first layer of chrysanthemum. Next, make a second layer of 7 cm strips; the third - from 5-centimeter blanks; the core consists of 5-7 strips of 3 cm.

Each subsequent layer requires a smaller number of blanks. It is recommended to cut the paper in stages as each layer is filled.

Snowdrops from quilling

Snowdrop using the quilling technique is one of the simplest flowers. You need paper strips of white and green colors of any width, glue and a white sheet of paper.

Using a quilling device, you should form 3 identical spirals with dense filling. Flatten them on both sides so that you get a boat. Glue them at the base.

Twist the green strip into a tight spiral and use your fingers to form it into a crescent shape. Glue the petals and green base onto a piece of paper. If desired, you can make a stem and leaves from green stripes and glue them with glue.

Flower bouquet using paper plastic technique

An unusual design of a flower bouquet using the quilling technique can be created from unnecessary fashion magazines. To do this, you need to choose the brightest and most contrasting sheets. Cut them into strips 4-6 cm wide, then cut the strips themselves into fringes.

Thick wire is wrapped with ribbon of any color you like. A cut strip coated with glue at the base is screwed onto it. These flowers are used to form a bouquet that can be placed in a tall cardboard box covered with gold paper.

Quilling step by step: a tree made of napkins

To create a tree from napkins using the quilling technique you will need:

  • napkins in different shades of green, brown, orange;
  • quilling tool;
  • glue;
  • dense base fabric.

It is necessary to cut the napkins into strips 40 mm wide. Fold each one twice and use a quilling tool to twist it into a spiral. Secure with glue. Press some brown spirals with your fingers on both sides to form a “boat” shape. They are used to form a tree trunk, gluing them together using the mosaic technique.

The crown is formed from round spirals of green and orange shades, glued in a chaotic manner, tightly to each other. If desired, it is possible to make several layers in the crown.

Making a butterfly using the quilling technique

A butterfly using the quilling technique is made from 4 teardrop-shaped, 1 round and 1 oval rolls. Drop-shaped spirals (wings) are glued to the oval blank with a round end. A round blank is glued on top, imitating the head of a butterfly. Stripes of antennae twisted on both sides are attached to the head on both sides.

Master class on contour quilling: bunch of grapes

To create a bunch of grapes, you need 15-20 blanks of tightly twisted spirals of purple-lilac flowers. They must be glued to paper in the form of a bunch of grapes.

If desired, it can be made more voluminous, in several layers. Grape leaves are cut out of green colored paper and glued at the base of the bunch.

For work we will need:

  • Strips for quilling (you choose the colors yourself);
  • Glue;
  • Awl or toothpick;
  • Scissors.

Quilling flowers for beginners: job description

Volumetric flowers look much more interesting than flat ones, so in this master class we will make just such a flower.

First you need to make the petals. To do this, glue two strips of different colors together.

This flower will have 22 petals, which means you need to make 22 such stripes.

Roll each strip into a roll about 2 cm in diameter.

Squeeze each roll tightly to form an eye shape.

To make flowers using the quilling technique unusual, you need to give the petals an unusual shape. To do this, slightly twist one edge of each petal using an awl.

You should get petals like this (with the help of these petals you can simply decorate various pictures):

Now you need to make the core of the flower. To do this, glue 2 strips of different colors, twist them into a roll and glue the edge. The roll should be tight.

Then you need to stick a thin strip of a different color on the edge of a strip with a length equal to the circumference of the core, and cut this edge along the entire length.

Wrap the core with this strip, as shown in the photo:

To make the flower voluminous, you need to glue the petals to the cone.

Now you need to glue the second layer of petals, but the curled ends should point in the opposite direction. Glue the core.

Glue the petals to the back of the cone.

At the end you need to glue a circle with cut ends, this will give the flower a neat look.

This is such an unusual flower. These flowers can be used to decorate paintings, postcards, and anything else you like.

Undoubtedly, you need to start working in the quilling technique with the simplest colors, since in addition to imagination, it requires accuracy and perseverance. That is why not all beginners continue to make such crafts. In the quilling technique, you need to start developing your skills with the simplest patterns:

Having mastered simple methods of creating spirals for quilling, you can move on to more complex patterns and create large three-dimensional paintings and panels.

Stages and method of performing the work of making a painting

To make a red gerbera, you need to glue together white and red strips, each 25cm long. You will get one strip 50cm long.

Then, using a toothpick or a special quilling tool, twist them into rolls with a diameter of 13-14mm with a red stripe inward.

Using tweezers, shape the spiral into a petal shape. You should end up with 12 red and white petals.

Using a similar pattern, twist spirals with a diameter of 9mm (13 pieces) and 7mm (10 pieces) from red stripes. Also squeeze on both sides to get red petals of different sizes.

Then cut a circle with a diameter of 4 cm from whatman paper. Draw a circle inside it with a diameter of about 15mm. This will be the border of the gerbera core. Make a cut to the center of the circle, with which we will form a small cone for further attaching the flower to the picture.

Glue large petals onto the inside of the cone. Let it dry.

On the reverse side, in a checkerboard pattern, slightly retreating from the edge, glue the middle petals.

While the blank for the quilling painting is drying, you can begin making the core. To do this, you need to glue a black strip 3mm wide and 15cm long and a peach strip 10mm wide and 20cm long. In the latter, make cuts along the entire length.

Twist the core and secure the end with glue.

Then glue the small petals first, and then place the straightened middle on it and press it tightly inside the flower.

Make the rest of the gerberas in a similar way.

To make flower buds, you need to roll them into tight rolls and glue strips of green and light green shades.

Then, using a thin stick or pencil, shape the rolls into a bowl.

Coat the inside of each bud with an even layer of glue and let it dry.

Making a picture using the quilling technique

Insert three petals and a thin core made from a strip 7-8 cm long into a bud.

There are two types in this composition. The first ones are twisted from two green strips of different shades. Then carefully stretch the spiral evenly to a diameter of 3-4cm.

Press with your fingers on both sides. Make the rest of the leaves in this way.

Quilling - flowers for paintings

The leaves of the second type are made of ordinary colored paper. It is better if it is double-sided. Fold the paper in half and cut out a jagged leaf symmetrically.

Then fold it again and fold it like an accordion several times.

Unfold the blanks and straighten them slightly. In this way, make 4 leaves.

Now that the main elements of the composition have been made, let's begin forming the background of our picture. Glue a beige rectangular fragment onto the colors on top. To make it look aesthetically pleasing, it is better to cut out the background with a stationery knife rather than scissors.

Before fixing the flowers, the petals can be decorated with glitter. To prevent it from crumbling, you need to apply a solution of PVA half and half with water to the ends. And apply powder on top with a dry brush.

Glue the gerberas slightly away from the center.

First attach some leaves to the flowers.

And then others.

Insert buds inside the leaves. You can glue beaded stamens inside one of them.

Glue curly branches at random. They are also made from twisted but well straightened strips 15cm long.

And at the end, stick the remaining leaves under.

Allow the composition to dry for 3-4 hours.
