Finnish felt boots Kuoma: how to wear, how to care for them, as well as a review of Kuoma models. We bought Kuoma boots for our daughter last winter. Which way to choose?

Anyone who has bought shoes from Kuom at least once knows that you simply cannot find a better option for our winters and off-seasons. They are able to withstand any conditions, so they often get dirty and lose their presentation. Every careful and prudent housewife wonders whether it is possible to wash Kuoma boots and how to do it so as not to spoil the thing.

Shoe Features

Before you figure out how to wash Kuoma boots, you need to decide what materials you will be dealing with. So, these are Finnish felt boots, which are designed taking into account all the anatomical features of the foot. In addition, the uniqueness of each model is its wear resistance and strength.

Externally, the shoes really resemble felt boots, only much lighter and with improved details. For example, a durable outsole connected to the frame and protective rubber inserts.

The boots are based on dense, moisture-resistant fabric, which ensures full air circulation inside and at the same time repels water. Under it there is a layer of protective heat-insulating plastic. The outer material must be impregnated with a special composition that protects against dirt and water.

The Kuom sole is made of polyurethane, which can withstand severe deformation. It can be crushed, bent, and at the same time it always returns to its original shape.

The interior trim of the shoes also consists of high-quality, wear-resistant faux fur. The insoles are made of natural sheepskin. In most cases, the kit includes a replacement pair of insoles.

Which method to choose

You need to choose a method for washing Kuoma boots based on the properties of the constituent material. Since in this case it is in the vast majority of cases synthetic, both manual and automatic washing is allowed.

Before cleaning, be sure to read the care instructions provided by the manufacturer. Some models can only be washed by hand.

It’s not for nothing that shoes from a Finnish manufacturer are called felt boots, so they are not able to protect against prolonged exposure to moisture. Double seams and the absence of glue will avoid damage to the product during washing, but will not protect your feet from getting wet.

An incorrectly selected mode can damage the product and it will lose its thermal insulation properties.

It is better to hand wash Kuoma products if they are not very dirty. To do this, it is ideal to simply wipe with a damp soft cloth. If simple wiping is not enough, then you should follow these recommendations on how to wash Kuoma felt boots:

  1. Remove sand and other dirt from the sole using a damp sponge.
  2. Remove the insoles. It is better to process them separately. They are made from natural material, which means different washing requirements. Natural sheepskin does not tolerate high temperatures, so it is best to clean them in cool water. You can use regular laundry soap for this. You can also use baby shampoo. Afterwards, be sure to rinse several times until all the soap is removed.
  3. Prepare warm water. Dissolve soap shavings in it. Washing powder intended for hand washing is characterized by increased foaming. This property can ruin shoes, leaving white stains that will be difficult to remove.
  4. Place the boot in the water and clean it with gentle movements. First, wash the inside. Then wipe the outer material with a soft sponge. Intense friction and hard brushes should not be used, as this can damage the fibers.
  5. Rinsing. It is better to do this in cool water until the water is completely clear.

Cleaning felt boots by hand is quite labor-intensive. Moreover, the manufacturer himself answered the question whether Kuom’s boots can be washed in a washing machine. This method is simpler and more convenient. In order for the result to please you and maintain the quality of the item, you must strictly follow the recommendations.

Algorithm of actions on how to wash Kuoma in a washing machine

  2. Remove the insoles and wash as described in the section on hand washing.

Drying products

The question of how to dry is no less concerning than how to wash Kuom’s felt boots. According to the manufacturer's recommendation, it is better not to do this on heating elements. The use of electric shoe dryers is also prohibited.

If washing was done by hand, then you need to let the water drain. To do this, leave the pair either in a basin at an angle, or place it on the floor, placing a thick cloth under it.

Then you can put paper inside and place Kuoma on a chair near the radiator. The paper will absorb moisture from the inside. It is important not to use magazine pages or newspaper. They may leave marks. It's better to take blank sheets. Change them several times as they get wet.

Machine drying basically consists of the same steps. First let the excess water drain, then stuff the boot with paper and put it in a warm place.

Drying the product at temperatures above 40 °C is prohibited. The special design ensures quick drying and does not require additional heat sources.

If weather conditions permit, felt boots can be dried in the fresh air.

Now you know how to wash Kuoma and extend its durability. It is enough to do a complete cleaning just once a season and wipe the boots with a damp cloth as they become dirty.

1. - How can they be bootsKuoma warmer than leather ones with natural fur? They are all made of artificial materials!

Yes, boots Kuoma Made entirely of artificial materials. However, modern materials make it possible to achieve much greater heat retention rates than natural fur. Boots made of artificial material fit better on the foot; the absence of internal seams makes them more comfortable. Artificial material, unlike fur, does not absorb moisture. In addition, it is significantly lighter in weight. The Putkivarsi and Tarravarsi models up to size 25 use even warmer material containing natural wool.

2. - Is it possible to dry bootsKuomaon battery?

Yes, you can (since these are not membrane shoes), but there is no need for this, because Kuoma boots are made of water-repellent material, they do not get very wet from the snow. And at the temperature when there are puddles outside, Kuoma is no longer worn.

3. - Is it possible wash shoesKuoma in the washing machine? Will they lose their shape?

Yes, you can, at a temperature of 40. After washing, the boots do not lose their shape.

4. - Is it possible to wear bootsKuomalike demi-season?

No you can not. These are not membrane shoes, but very warm winter shoes. Kuoma is recommended to be worn at temperatures below -5 (i.e. when you would wear ordinary felt boots). At higher temperatures, the foot may sweat and, as a result, freeze.

5. - I put Kuoma boots on the child, pulled woolen socks down, the child walked for an hour at a temperature of +5 and came back with cold feet. What then will happen at -15?

It’s completely in vain to put felt boots on your child at this temperature, especially with socks. My feet were very sweaty and therefore cold. It makes sense to wear Kuoma shoes when it’s below -5 outside. Then your feet will remain warm and dry.

6. - I liked the shiny elegant boots for the girl. But I'm afraid they are not so warm.

All models are the same in terms of warmth, so you can buy the model that you like best in appearance.

7. - Is it different insulation in children's and adult modelsKuoma?

The models, which are produced in both children's and adult sizes, use the same materials. Therefore, you will be as warm as your child during your walk. The Putkivarsi and Tarravarsi models up to size 25 use even warmer material containing natural wool.

Dear mothers, please share information about what they buy one-year-old, almost non-walking babies for the winter these days? I studied my favorites, I need fresh ideas. I looked at the Kotofey boots and felt boots - they won’t go well with a high rise, I also saw a Miniman. I’m not impressed yet. It’s too early for us - it’s membrane,

Shoes "Kotofey"

Good day everyone! Please tell me, have you bought Kotofey shoes for your children? I looked on their website. Looks good, just right for our plump legs. I would like to know the impressions of those who tried it or saw it live. Also, has anyone been to their store?

We took a couple of sizes larger, since the price is quite high. 3000 rubles, so I wanted it to last for two seasons. Kuom's boots are also called " Finnish felt boots". They are produced for both adults and children (the size range is large) and are considered very high-quality, practical and very warm winter shoes.

In general it is believed that Who needs to take according to size(for example, you can’t do much more) so that your feet don’t freeze. If the size of the felt boots does not match the child’s feet, the baby will freeze in them. Who needs to buy for active kids, if the child does not move in felt boots, his feet will freeze. There is no need to wear woolen socks; thin socks are enough.

My observations are:

last year, when the child’s felt boots were about 2 sizes too big, the child really froze in them, his feet were cold even at minus 10, he even had to wear woolen socks and put warm insoles.

This year the boots fit our feet exactly (in size), plus the child is more active, so we feel really warm in them, feet don't get cold, and I don’t wear any socks, but only tights!

Someone will say, “oh-oh-oh, in Kuoma you need to constantly move in order not to freeze,” but what kind of shoes don’t need to do this? Even if I put on regular felt boots and just stand on the street, my feet will freeze.

Kuoma can be washed in a washing machine To be honest, I haven’t tried it, I’m afraid or something. Although my friends do the laundry. I take care of it simply: I wipe the soles with a damp cloth and up - dry and the boots are fine! I have no complaints about the quality of the felt boots. High rubber sole. They don't slide much on ice (but I won't say they don't slide at all). Your feet don't get wet in them, even if the child steps in a puddle (but I still don’t recommend spanking them). By the way, they cannot be dried on a radiator, keep this in mind! However, I dried it this way several times, even dried it with a hairdryer, and so far nothing has happened to them!

I have a friend who goes to Kuome and says that she is really HOT in them! Next year I will buy Kuoma for my daughter again, for her legs - warm, comfortable and dry!

So here are my conclusions:

1. How much should I buy for children who move more or less outside in winter?

2. Don't wear a bunch of socks

3. Take felt boots according to size

4. Buy in specialized or children's stores (to avoid counterfeits, of which they say there are many now)

Have fun on winter days in Kuoma boots!
