Pain reliever before hair removal. A cream with an analgesic effect is the best option for mesotherapy

Smooth legs and a bikini area are given to us for a reason. From a young age to their gray hairs, ladies are forced to come up with new ways to make their skin smooth and velvety. That is, to rid her of ugly, coarse hairs. For this they came up with laser hair removal, sugaring, waxing, electric epilators, depilatory creams, and so on and so forth, not to mention regular leg shaving. There is even a . Often used for intimate areas.

Each woman herself will determine from her own experience which type of hair removal is most preferable for her. But in any case (except perhaps for laser and photoepilation, the long-term effect of which has not yet been fully studied), we have to deal with the pain that accompanies hair pulling out of the follicles and skin irritation at the site of depilation.

To minimize the sometimes truly hellish torment, future owners of seductive legs, armpits and intimate places have tried many remedies. Some prefer to swallow tablets such as ibuprofen and tempalgin, others inject a subcutaneous solution of Lidocaine, others use ointments, others use pain-relieving creams for hair removal. Let's look at the latter in more detail.

Effect of creams

The essence of any anesthetic cream is to reduce the conductivity of nerve endings. This can be achieved in different ways. The most suitable method for cosmetic procedures is local anesthesia using special creams.

Creams and ointments such as Emla, Light Dep and Menovazin are absorbed into the skin and mucous membranes. There they inhibit the sensory nerve endings, which prevents pain impulses from reaching the brain. That is, the more cream is absorbed into the skin, the lower the pain threshold will be. Moreover, it is important to note that it is the absorbed active ingredient of the cream that matters, and not the total amount of the composition on the surface of the skin.

In order to increase the amount of active substance in the epilation area and prevent the cream from drying out prematurely, occlusive dressings are used. They completely eliminate contact of the closed area of skin with the environment and evaporation of moisture. At home, the occlusive dressing can be replaced with plastic or cling film. Just apply the right amount of cream to the skin and wrap it with film for the right time.

It is advisable to steam the skin itself before the procedure by going to the sauna or local heating. The hotter the body area being treated, the easier it will be for the hair roots to “come out”. But after depilation, it is advisable to cool the treated area. Naturally, after treatment with an antiseptic and post-depilation cream.

Manufacturers and prices

Today, several types of anesthetic creams for hair removal are used in beauty salons and during home hair removal. Let's start with the most popular.

"Emla"

This cream is available in tubes with a dosage of 5 × 5 g and 1 × 30 g. The main active ingredients are lidocaine and prilocaine. Lidocaine has a powerful, but rather transient effect. And prilocaine is weaker, but lasts longer.

The technology for using this cream is simple. It is described in detail in the attached instructions. It says that in order to anesthetize the skin to a depth of 2 mm, it is necessary to apply 1-2 grams to an area of 10 square centimeters and hold under an occlusive dressing for an hour and a half. If the hair follicles that you intend to fight during the depilation process are at a depth of 3 mm, then you need to wait at least two hours for the maximum anesthetic effect.

There is also a dependence on the amount of cream and the sensitivity of the skin area where hair will be removed. For example, 1 gram per 10 cm2 is enough for the hands, 5 g is already needed for the face, and at least 10 grams of Emla are needed for the hypersensitive mucous membranes of the genital organs.

The price of this cream is 1,522 rubles. for 5 tubes of 5 grams and 1,729 rubles. for one tube 30 g.

Deep Numb

Another popular skin numbing cream based on lidocaine. It is often used not only in beauty salons and makeup workshops, but also in tattoo parlors. A package of 10 ml costs 550 rubles.

Light Dep

Those who are allergic to lidocaine can use Light Dep cream. Its analgesic effect is based on the anestoderm. It costs less than Emla and Deep Numb and has a weaker effect. It is recommended to be used for hair removal on arms and legs. The “freezing” time of the treated area is 15-30 minutes. The price for one package of Light Dep for the face (15 ml) is 725 rubles. Light Dep 300 ml costs 5,500 rubles.

"Anestop"

Excellent anesthetic gel. It must be applied to the skin in several stages. First, one layer is applied for 10 minutes, then it is removed and a second layer is applied for another 10 minutes. After this, the second layer is also removed and then hair removal can begin. A forty-gram tube costs 1,900 rubles.

Golden Rose

Suitable when you need to quickly get rid of hair on your skin. This local anesthetic is applied just 15 minutes before the procedure. Price – 1,400 rubles.

Menovazin

This oily mixture for pain relief has no contraindications. Great for the bikini area and crotch. There is also no need to use occlusive dressings to achieve maximum effect. The active ingredients are novocaine and anesthesin. Disadvantages - it is a solution of ethyl alcohol. Price – 25 rub. per bottle 40 ml.

Sprays

Pain relief sprays for hair removal are popular among both professionals and housewives. Ease of use is a big plus for these products. They are especially relevant for tattoo and beauty salons, where you need to quickly get rid of medium and small hair.

Lidocaine

As already described above, often the main active ingredient of an anesthetic cream for hair removal is lidocaine. You can purchase Lidocaine spray in pharmacies, online stores and beauty salons. If there is no individual intolerance, open wounds or focal irritations, then it does an excellent job of “freezing” small and medium-sized areas of skin.

Having studied the statistics in detail, cosmetologists and ordinary women came to the conclusion that the Hungarian-made spray anesthetizes better than Russian Lidocaine. Although both formulations claim 10% of the active ingredient.

It is produced in 38 gram bottles and is designed for 650 doses. Price for one bottle is 360 rubles.

Veet

Spray can with a volume of 150 ml. Allows you to quickly and effectively anesthetize the top layer of skin. Not suitable for deep roots. The price for one can is 300 rubles.

Attachments for electric epilators

If you use electric epilators to combat hair on your legs, arms, bikini area and armpits, then you should pay attention to special attachments. Some of them are based on thinning the epilating edges in order to pull out fewer hairs in one cycle. Others are based on the massage effect and are comparable to rubbing the bruised area. Still others use an ice container to reduce the pain effect.

Important to remember! Pain during hair removal depends greatly on a woman’s menstrual cycle. The ideal time is immediately after the end of menstruation. And, conversely, it is not advisable to engage in hair removal during the period of ovulation.

Also, each woman has her own daily cycle of pain sensitivity. For most, this is 18 – 20 hours, that is, evening. Other ladies are less susceptible to pain, on the contrary, in the morning and in the wee hours.

The video shows an ointment for pain relief during hair removal:

The first epilation is always scary and painful. Therefore, it is best to do it in a salon adapted for this purpose. The fact is that it is quite problematic to independently determine the degree of allergic reaction to one or another component of the anesthetic substance. For example, if you have never had your teeth pulled out, then you can only guess about the effect of lidocaine on your body.

Therefore, before using a new pain relief cream, you should consult a dermatologist or obtain a guarantee from the beauty salon where you are having your first hair removal procedure.

Smooth, delicate and soft skin is the dream of many women. To achieve the ideal, you need to remove ugly and coarse hair from your legs, bikini area, and face. Extracting vegetation from the roots (as with sugaring) is a more preferable option; the result will be long-lasting. And as the hair grows, it will not turn into stiff stubble.

You can perform laser, chemical or electrolysis in the salon. You can use sugaring, wax or epilator at home. But often this procedure is very painful. That's why women are afraid to do it. But pain relief during hair removal will reduce the discomfort of the procedure.

Methods of pain relief without special means

In order not to sacrifice beauty, you need to use special products. Especially for areas with delicate skin (for example, in the bikini area, armpits). Everyone chooses the most suitable method of pain relief for themselves. For example, some people like sprays, others like ointments and creams, for example, Emla for hair removal. This will make the procedure more comfortable and painless.

For not very sensitive areas, some ladies do not use painkillers. Unpleasant sensations, of course, are present, but quite tolerable. There are several ways to reduce pain and make depilation less unpleasant:

  • It is often recommended to cool the body part being treated before the procedure, such as applying ice. But you shouldn’t do this, because under the influence of cold, muscles tense and pores narrow. This makes it more difficult to remove hair and makes the procedure more painful.
  • If wax strips are used, they must be torn off in one sharp movement. If you carry out manipulations slowly, this will only aggravate the suffering. The same applies to sugaring.
  • Before epilation, you should not treat the skin with alcohol-containing products, as the skin becomes tougher and denser.
  • During the menstrual cycle, the pain threshold increases, so sugaring and other operations to remove hair will be more painful.
  • The scrub makes hair removal easier, so after the scrubbing procedure, depilation at home will be easier.
  • A warm bath or shower steams well and softens the skin.
  • If you remove hair using sugaring, tear off wax strips, etc. while inhaling, this procedure will cause less pain.
  • Special attachments for epilators give a good effect. Therefore, it is advisable to use them if there is pain.

The above methods only slightly reduce pain during sugaring and other methods of hair removal. In some cases, the pain can be unbearable, so it is better to use medications, but they must be used in accordance with the instructions for use.

Using an anesthetic spray

In fact, there are a large number of painkillers. But perhaps the most common due to its affordable price and effectiveness is Lidocaine. Many people are familiar with it from visits to the dentist, where it is used as a local anesthetic. For teeth it is used as an injection. For hair removal, the optimal release form is a spray. You shouldn’t get too carried away with pain relief, but for particularly sensitive areas (for example, the bikini) you can’t do without an anesthetic.

Before using the product, you need to steam the skin well. Even better is to take a bath. This will not only make your skin soft, but also relax your entire body. Before applying the spray, wipe the treated body parts dry. The product is then sprayed onto the area. A thin layer is sufficient for anesthesia. Sugaring paste or wax strips are applied over the anesthetic. After a visit to the dentist, many will remember that the doctor does not begin working on teeth immediately, but some time after the injection. This is due to the fact that the drug takes some time to start working. When epilating, this condition must be observed. Otherwise, the procedure will be painful. For better accumulation of the drug in tissues, you can wrap it in film. You should always remember that this is a drug, the dosage of which must be strictly observed in order to avoid various unpleasant consequences.

Like any medicine, Lidocaine has contraindications. Therefore, you need to read the instructions before using it. It can also cause allergic reactions.

It is believed that the Hungarian drug is more effective than the domestic one. Foreign medicines are also preferred in beauty salons. However, at home it is still more a matter of taste and habit.

If the store does not have a spray, you can buy Lidocaine in ampoules. It also has an affordable price. From these, the drug can be poured into bottles or other bottles with a spray bottle and used for local anesthesia at home.

Contraindications:

  • Allergy and individual intolerance to the drug;
  • Disturbances in the functioning of the excretory organs;
  • Convulsions;
  • Low pressure;
  • Age up to 16 years.

Currently, another anesthetic drug, Prilocaine, is becoming increasingly popular. It is more effective because it is intended to anesthetize the skin, while Lidocaine targets the mucous membranes. However, the price is also different.

It must be remembered that sprays are used to remove hair from armpits, arms and legs. To treat the groin, bikini area, and face, it is better to use ointments or creams, since they can be applied to a strictly defined area.

Creams and ointments for pain relief

Another very common remedy is Emla ointment. The original drug is produced by the Swedes. This cream is most often used in beauty salons during laser and electrolysis and for pain relief in other procedures. The ointment combines Lidocaine and Prilocaine; it “freezes” the skin well. The cream can be simply applied to sensitive areas (bikini area or armpits), and the effect can be enhanced and accelerated using an occlusive dressing.

The consumption of the cream is quite noticeable. However, if you consider that the treated areas are small, then a small amount of cream is used. So, for a deep bikini area you will need from 5 to 10 g of ointment. Average consumption: 1-2 g per 1 cm3. The price for high-quality pain relief will not be exorbitant.

Based on Emla, special patches for hair removal are produced. They are especially effective for combating facial hair, for example, during electrolysis, because they are small in size. The simultaneous use of more than 3 patches is prohibited.

Do not use external painkillers if the skin is damaged or allergic reactions occur. If it gets on wounds, the risk of developing side effects and complications increases.

In addition to external anesthetics, tablets can also be used at home. They help well with sugaring, using wax or epilator. However, they have an even longer list of contraindications and possible side effects, so the instructions for use should be carefully studied. Pain relief for any type of depilation is often necessary and is performed with the help of medications, and therefore requires careful and careful treatment.

Do you think beauty requires sacrifice? What sacrifices are you willing to make for the sake of beauty, for example, your legs or bikini area? Are you ready to endure unbearable pain just because you don’t know how to properly prepare your skin for hair removal? Do not do this! We will tell you how to make this procedure as easy and painless as possible.

This question is often asked by young girls who are just starting to learn how to take care of themselves and have never done hair removal. It is worth noting that for delicate and young skin the procedure may be too painful for the first time, so you will need to take the preparation of the skin as seriously as possible.

Attention! You should know that epilation is the removal of hairs from any area of the skin along with the hair follicle (with the root), depilation is cutting off the top part of the hair.

Of course, you won’t be able to completely get rid of the unpleasant sensation, but we guarantee that you will significantly increase the pain threshold. Let's turn to professional cosmetologists for advice and what they say:

Young girls should reduce their hair length before their first hair removal. To do this, you need to carefully shave all the hair with a razor or apply a special cream. The fact is that the epilator device is designed for a certain hair length.

Wait two or three days, the hairs will grow two millimeters, and then begin the procedure. Choose the right epilator attachment so that it grips hair well. Here are several types of attachments that will help make the procedure at home more enjoyable:

  • with thinned disks. It is good to use for the first time, because it simultaneously pulls out a small amount of hair and thins it out. Plus – it does not cause severe pain, minus – the need to use the device several times until the full result is achieved;
  • cooling. Due to the sub-zero temperature, the process of hair pulling becomes painless. Before use, the nozzles are placed in the freezer until the water in it is completely frozen. Plus - reduces skin irritation, minus - not recommended for use in the bikini area;
  • massage The purpose of the nozzle is to distract the nerve endings from transmitting pain signals and concentrate on the massage.

Before starting the procedure, it is recommended to take a hot bath or shower. Thanks to this, the skin becomes soft and supple. The pores expand and release hair well. After bathing, dry your skin, especially in the areas where you will epilate.

How to numb the skin before epilation of bikini, legs, armpits

There are several methods to numb the skin before the depilation procedure; it is enough to apply one of the suggested products:

  • lidocaine in ampoules. The solution can be easily purchased in pharmacies without a prescription. On the advice of experienced cosmetologists, the Hungarian manufacturer is recommended, because its products are distinguished by their quality and effectiveness. How is anesthesia administered during depilation? Carefully open the ampoule and, using a cotton swab, begin to rub the medicine into the skin. You should feel a slight chill and numbness of the skin. The medicine provides good pain relief in the bikini area, legs, and armpits;

Attention! Lidocaine is contraindicated for use in pregnant women!

  • lidocaine spray. If you cannot or do not want to use ampoules, then the solution may be to use a spray. It is worth considering that in this case the medicine begins to act after about 1 hour;
  • Carmolis spray. A universal remedy, used for any pain, for example, bruise, dislocation, wound, itching or bite. It contains Japanese mint and menthol oil. Well soothes, anesthetizes and prevents skin inflammation. Therefore, its use is appropriate for hair removal at home. You can buy Carmolis spray at the pharmacy;
  • Emla cream is a cooling cream for hair removal. The main components of the drug are lidocaine and prilocaine. The cream is applied directly to the area of skin before epilation and adheres well. The anesthetic effect is achieved after 60 minutes and lasts two hours;
  • Light dep cream. This new cream, which recently appeared on the consumer market, has been quite successfully used to relieve skin pain during hair removal. Initially intended for those who have a personal intolerance or allergy to Emla cream. But as it was used, it began to gain more popularity among women.

Attention! Before using any medications, read the instructions carefully. If you have not identified any contraindications, you are not allergic to the drug, then you can use this medicine! It is better to purchase painkiller aerosols at the pharmacy!

How to relieve epilation pain at home

If you have already performed hair removal at home several times and know medications, ointments and sprays for pain relief, then it will still be useful to learn a few tricky tips. Thanks to them, the hair removal procedure will be pleasant and not painful.

Here are tips on how to perform pain relief before waxing:

  • It is recommended to carry out hair removal in the first week after menstruation, especially on the second or third day. During menstruation, the body automatically increases the pain threshold to reduce pain. This is why women do not pass out (or in very rare cases when there are health problems) experiencing pain these days. Take advantage of this natural defense of the body;
  • Do not remove hair under any circumstances three days before and 3 days during ovulation. It is better to wait out this most sensitive time, as the procedure will be the most painful;
  • choose the right time of day for hair removal. In the morning, your body is at its most alert and will react sharply to pain. The best time is after lunch, when the body begins to prepare for sleep and sensitivity dulls. After a few experiments, you will surely choose the most efficient watch for yourself. Try it!
  • after applying anesthetic cream, spray, etc., it is recommended to wrap (if these are legs - arms) or apply (in the bikini area) plastic wrap for 30 - 60 minutes. This will not allow the spray vapors to evaporate, and will also create a greenhouse effect - the pores open well - for deeper penetration of the medicine into the skin;
  • Some women are too sensitive to pain, so cosmetologists recommend taking painkillers at home 20 to 30 minutes before the procedure. These can be any pills you are familiar with: analgin, tempalgin, nurofen or ibuprofen. For the most sensitive ladies - indomethacin, diclofenac, naproxen. Citramon helps some women. Your task is to prepare the body as much as possible for pain shock and reduce the level of perception of nerve endings;
  • The star will help relieve pain before hair removal. Apply the ointment to the skin and rub in lightly.
  • The hair removal procedure should be carried out regularly. Take care of your skin and don't let your hair grow too long. If the maximum length of 2 - 3 mm is exceeded, then it is more advisable to depilate first;
  • skin massage, pinching, rubbing with a washcloth, patting, etc. - all this helps to numb the skin before the procedure and makes it less sensitive;
  • Many women use another method to relieve skin sensitivity. Take a towel, wet it with water and put it in the freezer. When it freezes a little, wrap the area of the body from which you will remove hair. This will cool the skin and reduce its sensitivity. Be careful, not recommended for use in the bikini area!

Important! Depilation with painkillers will make this procedure pleasant and simple.

And in conclusion, I would like to say that you should not be panicky about the hair removal procedure. If you approach this issue competently and responsibly, and first numb the skin, then hair removal will be successful and without any sharp pain.

Some psychologists advise turning on quiet, pleasant music so that your body is distracted by its sound and you enjoy the process.

    Emla is a cream (ointment) used for pain relief for a variety of skin conditions. Recently, analogues of Emla have been especially in demand, since the original is not available to everyone.

    Emla pain reliever

    Emla is a white homogeneous substance, the main active ingredients of which are lidocaine and prilocaine. Together they are able to penetrate deep into the epidermis and anesthetize 2 mm of skin for about 2 hours. This time is quite enough for epilation and depilation of any complexity.

    For the best effect you need:

    • apply the cream in several layers;
    • cover the treated area with film (can be food grade);
    • if the cream is absorbed too quickly, you need to apply the substance again;
    • You need to keep the mask on for an hour to two, depending on the expected result (the longer Emla acts on the surface of the skin, the deeper it penetrates - the anesthesia effect increases).

    The cream can be easily purchased in pharmacies, but its price reaches 1000 rubles for a five-gram tube. Not everyone can afford it. Many are starting to look for products that would be as good as Emla in quality, but would be much cheaper.

    Russian and foreign analogues of Emla

    When choosing an alternative product for depilation or other skin manipulation, you can focus on the following criteria:

    • advice from friends;
    • information on the Internet;
    • user reviews.

    But the main indicator should still be your own experience. The sensitivity of human skin varies from person to person. And just because you read a few negative reviews about a product doesn't mean your skin will react the same way.

    Light Dep anesthetic cream

    The cream from Russian manufacturers Light Dep is a worthy competitor to Emla. It can be used not only for cosmetic purposes, but also for medical purposes (for example, it can numb the injection site).

    Light Dep contains both lidocaine, prilocaine and tetracaine (used for pain relief in ophthalmology, gynecology, dentistry), epinephrine (vasoconstrictor, anti-allergenic agent).

    The cream begins to act 15 – 20 minutes after application. The action lasts up to 4 hours. The cream, like Emla, is suitable for hair removal of the bikini area (but not mucous membranes).

    Use the product in accordance with the instructions:

    • apply a thick layer to the skin using cotton pads;
    • To enhance the effect, use cling film to prevent the cream from drying out longer;
    • if the procedure is painful, then after half an hour you can reapply the product;
    • then wash off the cream and proceed with the operation.

    The price of the cream is about 750 rubles. for 15 ml, which is three times more profitable than Emla.

    Menovazin ointment

    Sometimes ointments intended in medicine for other purposes are used for cosmetic manipulations. These include Menovazin.

    Menovazin is usually used to relieve itching, muscle and joint pain, bruises, and swelling. It includes:

    • menthol (has an anesthetic and anti-inflammatory agent);
    • novocaine (blocks nerve endings, pain impulses);
    • anesthesin (designed to reduce pain in the mucous membranes of the body).

    The listed properties make it possible to use the ointment for epilation and depilation of the body, including mucous membranes (the labia area, for example).

    Pain relief occurs approximately ten minutes after application and lasts about an hour and a half. The ointment should be used in the same way as the above products, but it is worth increasing the number of applications to 4-5 with an interval of 15-20 minutes.

    The price of Menovazin ranges from 30 to 60 rubles.

    Anestezin ointment

    Anestezin is a powerful anesthetic that contains benzocaine, which reduces the sensitivity of the skin surface. Used in gynecology, dentistry, gastralgia.

    The method of use in cosmetology is similar to those listed earlier. Begins to act in 1-2 minutes. The action reaches one and a half hours. It depends on the human body and its pain threshold.

    If necessary, the ointment can be replaced with Pyromecain, Helicain, Dinexan, Luan.

    Aerosol for topical use. Lidocaine inhibits receptors and reduces pain. Used mainly in dentistry, ophthalmology, gynecology. It has a pronounced analgesic effect that develops within 1-5 minutes, with a maximum after 60 minutes. Part of the substance is absorbed into the blood through the skin. The anesthetic effect of the drug lasts 7-8 hours.

    General recommendations for pain management during cosmetic surgery

    There are non-medicinal and medicinal methods of pain reduction. The means discussed above are among the latter. You can also add here:

    • the use of anti-inflammatory drugs in the form of tablets (ibuprofen, nurofen, ketorol, nise and many others);
    • local skin anesthetics (creams, gels and sprays);
    • anesthetic subcutaneous injections (Ultracaine D, Ubestezin, Articaine, etc.).

    Non-drug methods are expressed in the impact of external factors on the human body:

    • if you use a scrub before epilation, it will be much easier to pull out hairs;
    • ice before the procedure does not guarantee pain relief, in some cases the opposite happens;
    • You should use alcohol with caution before the procedure, as it narrows the pores, and it becomes much more difficult to pull out hairs;
    • For some, drinking alcohol or coffee reduces sensitivity (however, they can also cause the opposite effect);
    • you can try to focus on the period of the menstrual cycle: before and during menstruation, the sensitivity of the skin is high, and in the first week after it, the pain will decrease significantly;
    • To steam the skin, it is advisable to take a hot bath before the procedure (or visit a bathhouse or sauna).

    If you decide to undergo hair removal for the first time, first trust a professional. Subsequently, you can easily carry out the procedure yourself.
