Competition 6 - Tell us about the youth of a given time.

Summarizing.

Oh, those stormy 70s! The time of disco, hippies, feminism, it was then that the emergence of the environmental movement began in Europe, the Vietnam War took place ... In short, it was an era rich in changes in all areas of life. So, we have enough material at our disposal to organize a super party!

Invitation

- Cut out a circle from paper and decorate it like a vinyl disc, or take a real disc that is no longer needed and write the text of the invitation in the center of the label.
- Find on the Internet a photo of a popular artist or actor in the 70s (for example, John Travolta in the movie "Saturday Night Fever") and use a computer program to replace his head with your own.
- Make a foil disco ball and stick the invitation on top or put it inside.
- Make a collage of vivid images and events of that era on a plain sheet of paper.
- Glue a CD cover out of paper, write your invitation on it, and insert a CD with music from the 70s inside to immerse the invitees in the appropriate atmosphere.
Suits
On a holiday in the style of the 70s, a costume party suggests itself! Ask guests to come in costume. The choice is huge: disco, punk, hippies, Abba, manga ... Almost everything is suitable!
Here are some ideas:
Disco: flared trousers, shirt in bright colors or sequins.
Hippies: Indian tunic, printed T-shirt, Afghan waistcoat, oversized glasses, headscarf, bell-bottoms, very bright clothes, often with floral motifs and embroidery, sandals, long beads (usually with pacific).
Abba: all white, flared trousers, platform shoes.
Punk: very aggressive style, ripped jeans, leather jacket, spiked bracelet or necklace, oversized boots, slightly unkempt appearance, mohawks of all colors, safety pins.
Scenery

Relax! There is so much to do here! Get ideas from the following list:
- disco ball;
- emoticons;
- flashy colors: orange, green, purple, yellow, and also necessarily brown;
- posters with quotes from the hits of the 70s;
- glitter, vinyl discs and magazines from the 70s, which can be found at flea markets;
- a banner with the slogan "Welcome to the 70s!";
- photos showing you and your friends in that era. You can even use them as seat markers;
- items that were popular in those days, for example, a rotary telephone;
- hallucinogenic, vulgar and floral motifs in patterns;
- wallpapers of that era;
- badges with slogans or emoticons.
Games
Quiz
Who knows the 70s better?
Here are some possible jobs:
- pair a singer (actor) from one list with the name of a song (movie) from another list:
- according to a quote from a song, say who performed it;
- Guess what the speech is about by an excerpt from a song or a screen saver for a film.
dance competition
There are several options for organizing a competition:
- “do as I do”: one person stands forward and begins to move in disco style, others must repeat after him. Those who do not cope gradually drop out;
- classic: a competent jury is selected, which selects the best by voting and grading;
- the longest chain: one person stands forward and shows the first movement, everyone repeats after him, then he shows the second movement, the task of the group is to repeat the combination of the first and second movements, and so on. The one who gets confused is out;
- disco lessons: you invite a professional to the event who teaches everyone the typical movements!
twister

Despite the fact that this game originated in the mid-60s, it became most famous in the 70s. In addition, watching her is no less interesting and funny than playing.

Roller skating racing
Roller skates were very popular in the 70s! If each of the guests has them, then you could move the holiday from home to the street and arrange a small check-in. Imagine how fun it will be not only for you, but also for those around you who will see you in bright costumes!
What is this?

For this game, you will need items (or images) typical of the 70s, which are no longer in modern life. The task of the participants is to guess or remember what it is called and what it was for.

find the equivalent
Make a list of items or activities that were popular in the 70s and ask your guests to find equivalents in modern life, or vice versa. For example, cash payment - payment by bank card (purchase on credit, through a mortgage), mail - e-mail, telegram - sms.
Icon
In the 70s it was very fashionable to wear badges. Then there were a great many options: different colors, with slogans or images. Invite guests to make a badge as an entertainment and addition to their image.
Music

In the 70s, there were many trends in fashion: disco, punk, rock, soul and reggae. Do your eyes wander?
Then here is a small selection of artists and bands: Abba, Bee Gees, Bob Marley, Bonny M, Doors, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd, Queen, Sex Pistols…

Movie
The interpretation of the film can also be a theme for the holiday. Why not ask guests to dress up as the Godfather mafia or disco like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever?
You can also arrange a movie screening as part of the entertainment, use scenes from it as scenery, or just get some ideas from it for the holiday!
Here are some more of the most popular films of that era: Rocky, A Clockwork Orange, Charlie's Angels ... From cartoons, one can note such as Dragon Ball, Grendizer, Candy Candy ...
Menu
- Fondue: then, almost everyone had it! With homemade sauce or classic cheese or chocolate sauce.

Bright large accessories, plaid jackets, dresses with puffy skirts in catchy colors - all this can be found today in clothing stores. True, all the treasures “dug up” in boutiques must also be combined correctly! Moreover, the perfect taste and today's fashion to combine "correctly" a purple skirt and a green bag, or red trousers with an orange shirt should not interfere with you! After all, you are going to a style party of the 50s! And this means that there should not be any monotony and uniformity in your image! No muted and discreet colors in clothes either! Everything, down to socks, should be spectacular and challenge the world! Ready for interesting experiments with your appearance? Then - let's go!

COSTUMES FOR A RETRO PARTY

WE CREATE THE IMAGE OF A STYLISH GUY

Outfits and shoes

The most fashionable and beautiful in the space of a closed stylish party in the 50s was considered a girl dressed in a dress with a very frank neckline (as a rule, Soviet girls used German corsets of the “grace” type, bought secretly from dealers-smugglers) and a fluffy skirt that barely covered her knees.

In the modern interpretation of the “stylish” outfit, which has grown on the basis of the total grayness of the USSR, tulle petticoats are also used.

Concerning colors When preparing for a party, you should give preference to large and small “peas”, a bright floral print and play on contrasts.

For example, you can wear a white dress with large black polka dots, and complement the outfit with a wide red belt or a red ribbon with a bow. Necessarily - long (or short, it doesn't matter) black or red gloves! Such an outfit will truly look great and will cause a lot of admiration from your hipster friends of the opposite sex and a bit of envy from your girlfriends!

And a little more about flowers. Girls of the 50s adored dresses with large bright red poppies, roses, blue forget-me-nots, fiery sunflowers and yellow asters and lilies.

Green was all the rage handbag to such a dress and scarlet ribbon in her hair, complemented by a large artificial flower in unison with the painted hem. And in general - a wide ribbon adorned the hairstyles of almost all hipster girls. She performed two important functions: served as a harmonious addition to the integrity of the outfit and kept a whipped, complex hairstyle on top.

A little later (in the early 60s), the outfit of the dudes underwent some changes. Popular among girls began to use short bright dresses and miniskirts, which certainly had to tightly fit the hips, emphasizing (also forbidden in the USSR) sexuality.

Separately, it must be said about underwear. Corset "grace" we have already mentioned above. You can try looking for it in vintage clothing stores. But, in principle, this (rare and, I must say, rather uncomfortable item of a ladies' toilet) can be replaced by modern fashion girls with a simple cotton separate set of underwear. You can even wear a bra with foam cups under an open dress! The main thing is not to overdo it with thongs, etc. At that time, unfortunately, girls were spoiled only with simple “shorts”. And further. Stockings with garters. It is necessary! The girls then looked at foreign pictures in the pin-up style and strove to fully comply with this open and uninhibited image. All sorts of colors - from purple to bright yellow - were incredibly fashionable then. Pattern - floral, large mesh, "arrows", etc.

In addition, a very important detail of the “girl” image was shoes. Be sure to bright, lacquer and high heels!

Makeup, hair and accessories

Stilyagi girls wore the so-called "corolla of the world" on their heads (a high hairstyle - a knot at the top, decorated with curled curls on the sides). Or they did a styling like “Victory Rolls” on the head (with letter V-shaped letters on the forehead).

To keep the perm longer, they used the famous Soviet "styling" - they moistened the hair with sugar syrup and wound it on hot tongs. Such curls really did not straighten out for a long time, although the hair looked (and smelled!) Like burnt caramel. And, of course, even the smallest rain made the girl really "sweet" and sticky!

In addition, it was fashionable to decorate the hair with a wide ribbon or a small pillbox hat.

However, if you don’t want to fiddle with your hair for a long time before the party, you can go to the holiday just with loose hair, curled with large curls. Such hairstyles were also practiced in the days of dudes and were no less fashionable than the “corolla of the world” or “babette”.

Now - about makeup. Dudes of the 50s adored bright makeup. Without red lipstick on their lips, they simply did not leave the house! She was a constant component of the style, along with scarlet nail polish.

As for the make-up of the eyelids, the most important “touch” here was bold arrows drawn with a black pencil in the corners of the eyes and along the edge of the moving eyelid.

And then - very bright shadows were applied - carrot, peach, yellow, rich blue and softer blue colors. And also - eyebrows were brought up with a brown pencil and eyelashes were painted with "Leningrad" mascara.

Separately, it should be said about accessories. Fashion girls wore very large bright plastic bracelets and beads, necklaces made of colored glass stones and intricate brooches. They believed that the more trinkets they had on them, the more fashionable they would look.

We talked in sufficient detail about the women's stylish look of the 50s! We hope that our advice will help every girl at the party look stunning, bright to the point of pain in the eyes and at the same time very realistic, according to the era for which we started all these transformations!

Now it's time to discuss men's fashion. After all, it was the guys in the USSR who were the dictators of style. And the girls were already following them. So “taek” and “hatok” must be carefully selected for the party!

WE CREATE THE IMAGE OF A STYLISH DUDE

By the way, do you know the origin of the word: "dude"? No!? Well, how! It hides the whole huge meaning of the Soviet explosive subculture as such! dude is H man At respectful IN high A American TO culture! And, of course, one of the important components of this culture is the ability to dress outrageously, but with taste.

Jackets, shoes, sweaters and trench coats

Or simply - a suit and shoes of a dude-guy.

As history testifies, the first dudes known in the Union looked extremely ridiculous. Baggy huge multicolored jackets, too wide trousers, an absurd combination of bright (as far as it was possible in things made from Soviet fabrics) colors. But to be honest, the first dudes looked extremely funny, even funny! Although, very soon a whole fashionable offshoot appeared, which could well claim the title of a special style. breast.

So, let's start collecting the image of the "rock and roll guy".

Trousers (truser) and socks (socks).

Most often, they were still dark, monophonic. True, the dark trousers must have included a bright shirt, which "collected" all the attention on itself. Although, many dudes wore checkered, raspberry, green trousers. When preparing for a party, you can also experiment with the look. It is only important to be able to feel the fine line between the style of dudes and the “village rooster”, with a bright multi-colored tail. If you have an extraordinary, but delicate taste, you can surely come up with something that will make all the dudes of the holiday freeze in front of you in admiration!

The cut of the trousers is the notorious narrow "pipes". Another point was important - the length of the trousers should not have been below the bone. Such cropped trousers revealed to the public very bright socks and boots on a high, contrasting in color with the boot, rubber sole - “semolina porridge”.

Shirt and tie (taek), neckerchief

Saturated colors were popular - yellow, orange, blue, pink, and bright "Hawaiian" colors.

Be sure to choose the “right” tie for a matching shirt. Stilyagi wore long narrow herring ties tied with a miniature knot.

For example, the notorious “stylish orange tie” looked great with a blue shirt and a light jacket.

For a modern holiday, simply stylized as a fashionable era of the 50s, ties decorated with painted favorite musical instruments of dudes - saxophone, guitar, violin, trombone, etc., are also suitable.

Although, if you do not like a tie, you can wear a bright neckerchief (ala cowboy) to the party. In the early 60s, it was scarves that were at the peak of popularity among dudes, gradually replacing ties.

Jacket (jacket)

Blazers in large, bright checks were all the rage among hipsters in the 50s.

Although, monochromatic dark jackets, trimmed with a light striped galloon, were also not inferior to them in beauty and color.

And a felt trench coat (coat) was considered a special chic among dudes. It was a sign of prestige and that the guy had manushki (money).

A retro style party is an original way to hold any event. One of the most popular options for such parties is the disco of the 80s or 90s. This holiday will appeal not only to the adult generation of guests, but also to the youth and will become an unforgettable event for its participants. Preparing everything you need for him is quite simple.

How to Host a Retro Party

In order for the event to go smoothly, you need to carefully prepare for it. The most important things to think about are: room décor, menus, music and entertainment.

Venue preparation, decoration

A large mirror ball on the ceiling, light effects, confetti, garlands, old tape recorders and players, records - what you need for a retro party

A retro-style party is associated with dancing until dawn, splashes of Soviet champagne and unbridled fun. Therefore, the venue of the event should be chosen wisely: you need a large space and the ability to make noise without regard to the neighbors. It is best to spend a holiday in a rented hall of a cafe or restaurant, with colleagues in the office if you have a corporate party, or in a private house.

The room itself needs to be decorated in the best traditions of the 80s and 90s: a large mirror ball on the ceiling, lighting effects, confetti, garlands, old tape recorders and players, records. On the walls you can paste posters with images of idols of those times.

Small details will also help create an atmosphere: old dishes, pieces of furniture, pillows, etc. All this holiday participants can get at flea markets, from their older relatives and friends, or simply by rummaging in the attic.

You may also be interested in organizing a pajama party:.

Decor items will help create the atmosphere of those times.

What to wear

It is not necessary to purchase a costume for a retro-style holiday in special stores. Some of the clothes can be borrowed from parents and grandparents, as well as selected from modern costumes. So, bright leggings, leggings, massive jewelry, scarves, colorful shirts and many other attributes of the 80s can be easily found in the wardrobes of today's fashionistas. Having successfully picked up a set of old and modern things, you can create a unique and vivid image.

The main elements in clothing that will help to cope with the task:

  • stockings in a grid;
  • sweatshirts with sequins;
  • multi-colored leggings;
  • bright leggings;
  • flared trousers;
  • plaid jackets;
  • colorful shirts;
  • banana jeans;
  • jeans jackets;
  • flared skirts.

Large jewelry will help girls create an image: earrings, bracelets, beads. The brighter and more massive they are, the better. The number of accessories that you can wear is also unlimited.

As for hairstyles, in past years, lush styling, bouffants, varnished bangs were popular.

See also what to wear if you are going to an American-style party:.

For a party, choose bright clothes

Food and drink

Treats should fully recreate the atmosphere of the past. Standard dishes that may be present on the tables of guests of a retro-style party:

  • sausage sandwiches;
  • sprats;
  • herring;
  • potato;
  • traditional salads - "Olivier", "Vinaigret", "Fur coat";
  • everyone's favorite cakes are "Napoleon", "Honey cake".

Drinks can also support the retro theme: compotes, fruit drinks, Russian champagne, port wine.

So that guests do not go hungry, prepare traditional salads and snacks

Music

Discos of the 80s and 90s are incendiary dance hits of both foreign performers and domestic idols.

Among the Soviet and Russian music, one can distinguish: “Na-na”, “Time Machine”, “White Eagle”, Tatyana Bulanova, “Tender May”, “Lyceum”, Lada Dance, Tatyana Ovsienko and others.
You can't do without world hits from ModernTalking, E-Type, TheBeatles, Queen, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Cher and others.

Don't forget your good mood

What does the term "retro" mean to you? For some, the 90s seem like the era of dinosaurs, because there were no mobile phones, the Internet was just beginning, and computers were huge heavy boxes with floppy disks. But still, most associate the word "retro" with 60s dudes, rock and roll, vinyl records and bouffant hairstyles.

Vintage is back in fashion, and after the acclaimed movie "Dandies", the party in retro style has become a real hit!

What to wear to a retro party?

Girls will look unique in bright dresses with puffy petticoats, stockings with a seam and sandals with low heels. High decorated with a small bow will perfectly complement the image. Another option: an elegant little hat and gloves on your hands.

Young people also have their own style: tight trousers, pipes, a colored or striped jacket with wide shoulders, a bright or narrow herring tie, and you can build an Elvis-style bouffant on your head.

How to arrange a hall?

A retro-style party necessarily includes dancing in its program, which means that there must be a place for them in the hall. The design will depend on the theme you prefer: a retro New Year's Eve party in a hostel or a romantic American prom. All options can be used very successfully.

The necessary style is emphasized by garlands of light bulbs, vinyl records hung on the walls, retro posters and photographs of popular singers and actresses of the 60s. In a conspicuous place, you can put next to it - reels and records.

What to feed guests?

Any retro-style party is light snacks and wine. No complex cocktails, expensive seafood. Everything should be as “student-like” as possible.

What music to choose?

At such a party, the music should just "blow up" the dance floor! Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Bill Haley are best suited, and from domestic ones - Zhanna Aguzarova and Bravo. After all, dudes are having fun dancing rock and roll, boogie-woogie, rhythm and blues and twist!

How to entertain "stylish" guests?

1. Quiz

We cut out bright ties from cardboard in advance. We attach them to the guests' necks. The host declares himself a "Komsomol member": he catches and takes scissors. He asks questions to each in turn, and if the participant does not know the answer, then the “Komsomolets” cuts off a piece of his bright cardboard tie. If the answer is correct, the tie remains intact. Whoever ends up with the longest tie gets a stylish prize (for example, yellow socks).

The most interesting questions are about deciphering the jargon of dudes, for example, what the word “semolina” meant, who are “dynamists” and “ruddy loaves”.

2. Competitions for dancing

With plate:

For this competition, you will need props - plates made of cardboard or colored disposable tableware. Several couples take part. For starters, let them just hold the record with their stomachs and dance like a slow dance. Then the music changes to jazz, boogie-woogie, twist. The position of the plate must also be changed at the command of the presenter: clamp it with elbows, hips, foreheads, without dropping it to the floor.

With newspaper:

Distribute newspapers to each participant to see who is the best at kicking it while dancing the twist.

Best dance floor couple:

Of course, what's a retro party without some more dancing? Choose the king and queen of the dance floor - the most incendiary and persistent couple.

3. Stylish tie

Give guests plain light ties, paints and find out: who can create the most original "stylish" masterpiece.

4. Retro photoshoot

Take pictures of your guests with the right props so they can be compared to the stylish photos of older dudes from the 60s.

As you can see, just the sea, the main thing is to light it! Don't be afraid to surprise your guests, because stylists can do anything!
