Decorate the gift bag. How to beautifully pack a box and tie a ribbon on gift wrapping

We give gifts to family, acquaintances, friends, work colleagues on birthdays, February 23, Women's Day, New Year and so on. Many people are of the opinion that content is much more important than form, which means you can easily do without a wrapper. The candy in a beautiful wrapper does not change the taste without it! But even a very respectable person will be delighted to receive a gift in elegant packaging.

The most popular gift wrapping is paper. Let's figure out how to wrap a gift beautifully in paper with your own hands.

Modern industry offers a colossal selection of paper, different colors, textures and sizes:

  • The most convenient for packaging is sheet glossy paper. It comes in many different variations;
  • Kraft is a type of paper that is cross-embossed and slightly ribbed to the touch, specially designed for gift wrapping. It is produced in rolls 10 meters long.
  • silence - thin, light and airy. For this reason, it can also act as a filler. Objects of complex shape are packed in silence, as it tends to fit in a relief and elegant manner;
  • a gift that has a non-standard shape can be wrapped beautifully in polysilk. Bows for decorating large sizes are also made from it. Its texture is similar to a thick film, it stretches a little. This is precisely why designers and stylists like him;
  • Almost everyone is familiar with corrugated paper. It is often used as one of the elements of bouquet packaging. Often it also finds application in the packaging of souvenir bottles or other gifts that have a narrow elongated shape and are packaged in a tube or box;
  • Mulberry is a type of handmade paper produced in Thailand. The choice of colors here is very diverse. Often there is a pattern or ornament, and sometimes there are elements of floral material (dried flowers or leaves, stem fragments);
  • There is also mother-of-pearl, crinkled, silk, embossed, gel packaging paper.

Those who invented paper had no idea how many types of this material could exist.

Step-by-step gift wrapping instructions

I. How to wrap a square or rectangular gift in gift paper. First, let's figure out how to pack a gift that is in a rectangular or square box with your own hands correctly.

For this we need: the actual wrapping paper, cords or ribbon for decoration, tape measure, scissors and tape, double-sided is welcome, because it can be hidden quite neatly.

Progress:

Cut out a rectangle from the selected paper. Its dimensions are calculated as follows: using a tape measure, we sequentially measure all four sides of the box and add three centimeters to the hem, so we get the width, the length is determined by the formula - 2 heights of the box itself + 1 length.

Advice! If you have never wrapped a gift with your own hands before, you should immediately practice on some unnecessary paper. For example, on a newspaper or on a piece of unnecessary wallpaper.

Before wrapping a gift box in paper, we inspect the box and the gift itself for the presence of price tags, and, if necessary, remove them. Next, on a flat surface, lay out a rectangle of paper of the required size and a box with a gift.

We place the box in the center of our rectangle. On any of the vertical edges we make a fold inward by 0.5-1 cm. We glue tape to the fold. Wrap the box tightly in paper, stretching slightly if necessary to remove wrinkles. We align the paper along the edges, remove the film from the glued tape and glue the edge with a fold.

The lower part of the rectangle is bent and pressed tightly against the side edges of the box. After that, we bend it, bend it in the middle, stick it with tape and attach it to the end. We carry out this operation on both sides.

II. You don't know how to pack a gift in wrapping paper in a round or oval box?

Let's figure it out together. Such boxes, as a rule, contain various goodies, tea, coffee, sweets, as well as sets. But not every professional will be able to properly pack such a box in wrapping paper, so first you should practice on an unnecessary newspaper.

Progress:

We measure the height of the box. We cut out a strip of paper 2-3 cm wider. We glue our box in a circle, while tucking it inward about 1-2 cm from the top, 1 cm from the bottom from the bottom. Of course, we remove the cover at the same time.

Next, cut out an oval or circle from the wrapping paper, which will be slightly smaller than the very bottom of the box. We secure it at the bottom in such a way as to hide the folded seam allowance. And with the lid we do exactly the opposite.

Cut out a circle or oval slightly larger than the size of the lid, glue it and the allowance on the sides, carefully placing the folds.

We cut out a strip of paper that is about 10 mm wider than the height of the lid. Then we glue it flush with the top of our lid. Carefully fold the protruding seam allowance inward. Our package is ready!

Advice! You can wrap a gift without tape; for this you will need glue.

We've figured out the packaging of the box, now let's look at the design. We offer several ideas on how to beautifully decorate a box for different occasions.

How to pack a gift without a box?

You can pack an original gift in gift paper without a box. We offer you several gift packaging ideas without a box to make the packaging voluminous.

You can pack a gift without a box as follows. To do this, you need to prepare a sheet of wrapping paper that is twice the size of the gift. Next, we place our gift in the center, orienting it vertically.

We wrap the wrapper on both sides, being careful not to press through the folds.

We sew the bottom of the resulting bundle with threads (this can also be done using braid or tape), while retreating about 1.5-2 cm of paper from the object itself. You can sew it with a sewing machine or by hand.

The bundle must be placed on its side and all side folds on the top cut should be smoothed. At the output we get the top edge, which is directly perpendicular to the bottom, and the packaging turns out to be voluminous.

We also lay the seam along the upper cut.

The finishing touch is the decoration of the cuts. Curly scissors will help give them an interesting shape; you can also decorate them with lace, ribbon bows, glitter, etc.

How to make a gift bag with your own hands?

Thick paper is used to make such a bag. But if you try, you can also use an ordinary newspaper or the pages of a glossy magazine.

The main requirement is that this package can withstand the weight of the gift. For joints and parts we use only good glue, and under no circumstances use tape, this is a very unreliable option.

For a birthday, such a package can be decorated with an interesting congratulatory note on a ribbon or a beautiful jar. If you pack a New Year's gift in such a bag, you can use an angel snowflake or a paper fir branch as decoration, but if you don't want to bother, just attach a small Christmas tree toy to the bag with a ribbon.

How to wrap a standard size box in gift paper

Wrapping a regular-sized gift doesn't require any special skill from you. If you strictly follow the step-by-step instructions, you will wrap it quickly.

Prepare the following materials and tools:

  • wrapping paper;
  • Double-sided tape;
  • scissors.

Package:

  • Calculate the size of paper you need to use for packaging. This can be done using this formula. The width of the sheet of paper will be equal to the sum of the length and height of the box, which is multiplied by 1.5. To determine the length, measure twice the width and height of the box, add them together, then add 4 cm to the total.
  • Place the gift on the back of the paper according to size. Glue a strip of tape on top of the cardboard along its entire length. Remove the protective layer from it.

  • Fold the short edge of the paper over the cardboard. Press the tape in place so that the package fits tightly to the cardboard. Press the fold lines with your fingers.

  • Fold the opposite edge of the paper up 2 cm. Glue tape along the fold line, remove the tape.

Pull the packaging tightly around the gift, fold the paper over the lid of the box and glue its edge, as shown in the photo.

  • Now wrap the sides of the package. To do this, first fold the paper at the top and iron all the resulting folds. Place tape on top.

  • Fix the corners of the paper on the cardboard one by one.

  • Apply double-sided tape to the sides of the resulting triangle.

  • Then press the triangle firmly into the box. Repeat all steps on the other side.

  • Top the gift with a bow and packaging tape.

How to pack a round sized box in gift paper

Wrapping round gifts is quite problematic, but possible. In the next method of decorating a box, you use a minimum of paper and decor.

For round packaging you will need:

  • patterned paper;
  • hole punch, scissors, stapler;
  • glue gun;
  • cardboard circle;
  • ribbon or twine.

Package:

  • Measure the box's height and diameter. Cut out a rectangle according to size, the height of which will correspond to the height of the gift, multiplied by 1.5; and the length of the figure is the diameter. Cut the paper into strips no more than 3 cm wide.

  • Make one hole on one narrow edge of the strip using a hole punch. Glue their other side onto the cardboard in a circle. You now have a round fan of stripes. Wait for the glue to dry.

  • Place the gift in the center of the figure. Cut the ribbon and thread it through the holes in the strips. To do this, gradually bend the strips towards the middle of the circle, tightening the tape tightly.

  • When you have threaded the last strip, tie the ribbon in a knot. This way you will collect all the blanks together and they will not fall apart. Cut off the excess tape. Hide the knot with a bow made from leftover ribbon.

How to pack a long box with gift paper

Narrow and long gifts can be wrapped as standard, but it is much more interesting to make the packaging in the form of a large candy.

Packaging materials:

  • corrugated paper;
  • scissors, transparent tape;
  • decorative tape.

  • Cut the colored paper into a long rectangle that is twice the length of the box. The height of the figure will be double the width and height of the gift. Add 3 cm to it for allowances.

  • Center the gift on the parchment and wrap it around it. Secure the paper cut to the cardboard with transparent tape.
  • Use a piece of decorative tape to secure the paper on each side. If desired, create curls using the sharp edge of a pair of scissors.

  • Cut off the excess parchment along the edges of the package.

  • Decorate the top of the gift with any decor.

How to wrap a custom-sized box in gift paper

Sometimes gifts have a non-standard shape. Their packaging is not as complicated as it seems at first glance. Take:

  • two types of wrapping paper;
  • scissors;
  • glue gun;
  • Double-sided tape;
  • decor.

Package:

  • Wrap a custom gift in thin parchment. You can do without this action, but this way you will smooth out the corners of the box. Cut a small piece of wrapping paper depending on the size of the box. Place the box at one end. Apply tape to this side.

  • Wrap the box with paper in a circle. Press the edges of the packaging on one side and lightly iron the folds. Fold the edge toward the center several times and secure with glue.

  • Press down the packaging well so that the glue hardens completely.

  • Fold the other side of the package in the same way, but at a right angle to the other edge of the package. This will give you a three-dimensional triangle.

  • Decorate the packaging with any decor.

In general, there are a huge number of decoration options; we have given you just a few to stir up your imagination a little.

You can pack the purchased gift in a special section of the store, where you can be offered different types of wrapping paper and several types of bows. But if you want to make your gift original and unusual, then DIY gift wrapping.
Before you think how to wrap a gift with your own hands in a beautiful and original way and start choosing packaging material, you should take into account that different people have different attitudes towards gift wrapping:

- DIY gift wrapping for men should be restrained and laconic, there is no need to use all kinds of bows and decorations in it - men simply will not pay special attention to this and will not appreciate your efforts. Choose wrapping paper that is plain or has a clear geometric pattern. If you have a choice, you can choose a paper that matches the man’s hobby or profession (with musical attributes, for example);

- corporate packaging gifts should also not be flashy colors; it is best to use paper bags or handbags with the company logo. In this case, it is better to place a wholesale order; you are unlikely to be able to do it manually;

- in a DIY gift box for woman You can fully express your imagination and use all possible materials - beads, sparkles, ribbons, rhinestones, feathers, etc. Although, women are also different, so focus on personal preferences;

- children's gift Naturally, it should look childish - use bright rainbow colors, balloons, candies, funny appliqués, stickers of your favorite cartoon characters, small toys, etc.

- DIY gift wrapping must take into account theme of the celebration and use different attributes and characteristic colors. For example, gifts for the New Year can be decorated with Christmas tree branches and bells, and gifts for the bride should be combined with her wedding dress.

Depending on the form of the gift itself, handmade gift wrapping, is divided into two groups - hard gift wrapping (when the gift is in a hard cardboard box) and soft gift wrapping (when the irregularly shaped gift itself is packed in soft packaging material).

Solid Packaging Methods.

1) Wrap the finished box in paper. Often purchased gifts are in a ready-made factory cardboard box. In this case, your efforts are minimal - you just need to pack the finished box in wrapping paper with your own hands and decorate it with various accessories.

2) Cover the cardboard box with packaging material. If you purchased a gift without a box, then you can get out of the situation by covering a finished box (for example, a shoe box) with packaging material or fabric with your own hands, and putting the gift in a beautiful box, which is then tied with a ribbon. For breakable items, you can put a special filler in the box - silk paper, light fabric such as chiffon, decorative feathers, dried flower petals, etc.

3) Make your own gift box. If the gift is small in size or irregular in shape, then you can make a box for it yourself from colored cardboard or scrapbooking paper, which can now be purchased quite easily. There are a lot of ways here - all kinds of boxes, chests, bags and envelopes, as well as boxes made in origami style.

Soft packaging methods.

1) Wrap the gift itself in soft, easily draped packaging material. This can be special crumpled paper or tissue paper, which is sold in large stationery stores. Corrugated packaging paper, polysilk, and soft felt paper are also suitable. In this case, the gift is wrapped in the form of candy, tied on both sides with ribbons or decorative cords. Or you can choose a truffle shape, where only one end is tied with a ribbon, and the other becomes a stable base.

2) You can use the Japanese technique of wrapping gifts in fabric - furoshiki., which has a number of advantages compared to paper packaging. Firstly, such packaging is considered the most environmentally friendly - the fabric can be reused and not thrown away like paper after unpacking the gift. And secondly, thanks to a wider selection of colors and fabric patterns, greater expressiveness and individuality can be achieved in gift packaging.

3) You can sew a bag with your own hands from fabric, felt paper or even thick paper and put a gift in it, and then decorate it with ribbons and accessories.

How to decorate a wrapped gift.

This is a truly creative process that expresses your individuality, so you can use whatever you want. To decorate a gift wrapped in paper (or other material), paper and satin ribbons, lace, decorative cords and ropes are used. You can also use foil, tinsel, sparkles, beads, beads, chains, stickers, various tags and labels, feathers, dried flowers and leaves, shells, small stones, buttons, coins, etc.

Now how to tie a ribbon beautifully.

So, we have a box of the correct rectangular shape, wrapped in wrapping paper. You need to beautifully and neatly tie a ribbon or any other decorative braid, lace, rope, etc. on it.

METHOD No. 1

1. Tie the gift box crosswise and secure with a knot in the center. For a more convenient description, let's designate the ends of the tape with the letters A and B.

2. Take ribbon A and make first one and then a second loop for the bow so that they look like a figure eight (see photo). Using your fingers, press the middle of the figure eight against the center knot of the ribbon. Part B is on the sidelines for now.

3. Holding the figure eight bow with one hand, with the other hand take ribbon B and cover the middle of the figure eight with it, wrap it around the central knot and make another loop, only from ribbon B. Straighten all the loops and make them the same. Trim the ends at an angle.

METHOD No. 2

1. Separately fold the bow following the instructions in the photo.

2. Tie the box with a different type of ribbon. It is best to use contrasting but compatible ribbon colors. And the tapes themselves are of different widths.

3. Attach the finished bow to the center and tie the ribbons so that the resulting bows are perpendicular to each other.
