Linen bags for gifts with their own hands. Do-it-yourself bag - step by step instructions on how to sew a bag with ties from fabric

A drawstring fabric pouch is a versatile household item. This is a great gift wrapping, you can store cute trinkets in it, use it to store fragrant dried herbs. Even beginner needlewomen can sew a fabric bag. You can sew the bag on a sewing machine or manually, with small stitches, so that the product looks neat. We offer you detailed instructions on how to sew a bag with ties.

Necessary materials for work

To sew a bag, you will need simple materials that can be found in every home:

  • Fabric for sewing a bag, threads (you can use contrasting, or you can choose to match the fabric).
  • Ribbon or string.
  • Needle, scissors, centimeter tape, decorative materials for decoration.

What material to choose for sewing a bag?

The fabric should be chosen depending on the purpose for which you want to sew the bag. For a simple bag for the home, cotton, chintz fabric is ideal. Fragrant herbs are best stored in linen bags. If you want to sew an elegant gift wrapping bag, give preference to organza, silk, satin. It is worth remembering that working with these fabrics is much more difficult than with cotton fabric. If you are not confident in your abilities and are just learning to sew, you can get by with a cotton fabric by choosing a bright, beautiful color.

We sew a bag with ties

So, let's get to work.

  • First of all, you need to decide on the size of the bag and cut out a rectangle from the fabric and overlock it around the entire perimeter.

  • Fold the fabric in half and sew along the sides. If you use two rectangles of fabric for sewing, then you need to sew the product on the sides, as well as the bottom of the bag. When sewing the product, do not forget to step back 5-6 cm from the edge, this will be the hem for the ties.

  • Unstitched edges of the product must be tucked inward and smoothed out well with an iron.
  • The edge must be folded in half and stitched to one side of the bag. At this stage of work, you should be more careful not to make a seam on two sides of the product at once. Then perform a turn and make a seam on another part of the product.

  • You can insert a beautiful ribbon, lace into the resulting hole, or make a tie to match the bag using the remnants of the fabric.

How to make fabric ties

Ties can be sewn by yourself. To sew a tie, you need a 3 cm wide ribbon pattern. Determine the length of the tie depending on the size of the bag itself.

Progress:

  • Turn the edges of the tape over and hem the edges, folding at least 1 cm from the edge. Try to make the seam as close to the edge of the product as possible.
  • Fold the strip in half and iron.
  • Unfold the product, fold the edges of the tape to the center and iron again.

  • The tie blank must be folded along the ironed fold and stitched or sewn by hand, trying to make the seam closer to the edge of the product. The finished tie can be threaded into the opening of the bag.

Linen pouch with no strings

For storing dry herbs or berries, you can sew charming linen bags without making a hole for strings. Such a bag can be tied with a regular ribbon or twine. You can decorate a linen bag with lace, embroider with satin stitch or sew on a beautiful patch of bright fabric.

Progress:

  • Prepare two rectangles of fabric: linen for the outside of the product and cotton for the wrong side of the bag.

  • Connect 2 flaps with the right side inward, fasten with pins, leaving 1 cm for the seams. Sew on the sewing machine. Repeat the same with the second part of the product. Unfold the fabric and iron the seams.

  • The next step is sewing on the lace. For convenience, it can be pinned to the fabric with pins, stepping back 2 cm from the central seam, and sewn to one and the second part of the product.

  • We sew the bag. To do this, you need to fold the shreds face inward, step back 1 cm from the edge and stitch them around the perimeter. Be sure to leave about 3 cm without a seam to turn the product right side out. Sew the edges of the bag with matching threads. The bag is ready!

Beautiful and stylish fabric bags will decorate your interior, will be an excellent option for gift wrapping, and the creative process of making them will bring joyful moments.

I remember that my grandmother always had a lot of dried herbs, berries and mushrooms at home. In the summer, she collected mint, nettles, rose hips and dried them, hanging them on a rope or laying them out on the windowsill in the kitchen. And in winter, we drank mint tea with honey and rosehip infusion, rinsed our hair with nettle decoction and took fragrant baths.

Today, tired of tea bags and a variety of "miraculous" balms for hair and skin care, we are increasingly turning to natural gifts. Chilled mint tea with lemon will perfectly quench your thirst in summer, and relieve fatigue and tension in winter evenings. Some herbs make great alternatives to store-bought bath and shower products. And in the kitchen, no housewife can do without dried spices. Dill, parsley, basil are good in any form and at any time of the year.

Store dried herbs and roots in well ventilated areas with low humidity. You can simply hang bunches of herbs on a rope next to a heat source, as they did in the villages, but this method is not always acceptable for our apartments. Kitchen cabinets are a good option for storage, however, in this case, you will need some kind of container, because you can’t lay out the grass on the shelves. In my opinion, the most convenient way to store herbs are drawstring cloth bags that can be put in a closet or hung on the wall.

Remember, many houses used to have herbal bags decorated with handmade embroidery. Sewing such a bag will not be difficult, and as for decoration, it is not at all necessary to be able to embroider. To do this, you can use various techniques, for example, application. Or you can just pick up a fabric with an interesting pattern. The most important thing is that the fabric bags fit the design of the kitchen and do not look like something out of the ordinary. I offer you two simple options, based on which you can create your own wonderful herb storage accessory.

Materials and tools:

  • cotton fabric
  • threads
  • string and/or ribbon
  • scissors
  • sewing machine or patient hands

Fabric choice

The fabric for the bag must be made of natural fibers. Suitable chintz, coarse calico or linen. The size of the fabric depends on how much the product you need. For various spices, you can sew small bags in the same style, you can even embroider or make inscriptions with paint, what lies where. If there are a lot of stocks, then the bag should be made larger.

As for the colors, there are a few things to consider:

1. The main colors of the kitchen interior should be combined with the fabric of the product.

2. The color of the bag should reflect its contents, so it will be easier to determine what is inside.

3. If you are going to decorate the bag with applique or embroidery, then it is better to choose a plain fabric.

4. Laces and ties can be chosen to match or contrast with the base.

So let's get started. Both bags are sewn according to the same principle. However, if you decide to decorate them with embroidery or applique in the form of patches, then you should first perform these works on the fabric, and only then proceed directly to sewing the products.

1. Open. You will need a piece of fabric in the form of a rectangle. If the direction of the pattern on the fabric matters, then it is better to cut out two parts. I did not take this into account right away, cutting out a long rectangle and folding it in half, so the bouquets on the bag on one side turned out to be buds down. This is not scary, especially since the bag hangs with this side to the wall, but still pay attention to this. There are no such problems with a plain fabric, so feel free to cut one piece two bag heights long, and then fold it.

The first bag needed a meter of fabric 40 cm wide - mint will be stored in it. The dill appliqué bag is slightly smaller, about 40x30 cm, so the fabric is 80 cm long and 30 cm wide.

2. Choice of threads, embellishments and ties. Threads can be taken either in pastel colors so that the seams are invisible, or in bright colors to make the stitching part of the design. We select laces and ties according to the same principle. The first bag we have is made of fabric with a pattern, so it remains only to sew it. For another product, we select jewelry in advance, applying it to the fabric. I found pretty daisies and pieces of leatherette.

3. Tailoring. Fold two pieces of the bag or one long piece in half right side inward. Baste side seams if necessary. We lay a line at a distance of 1 cm from the edge.

Then we overcast the edges with a zigzag stitch or on an overlock. If the edges are very frayed, then instead of overcasting, it is better to bend them to one of the sides and sew, then bend again and lay the line again. Thus, the edge will be hidden in the seam. I went the easy way.

After the side seams, we process the upper edge of the bag. To do this, I folded the edge of the fabric 1 cm to the wrong side, laid a line, then repeated the steps.

In green, she processed the tucked edge with a zigzag line, and then bent it again and laid a regular line.

4. Ties. We connect the lace and ribbon. My lace is slightly stretched, I chose the length of the tape the same as that of the stretched lace: it’s more interesting. We tie the ends of the lace and ribbon with a knot or fasten with special clamps.

Then we attach a lace and ribbon to one of the seams of the bag (we lay a few lines in the middle of the lace). Before that, take the top of the bag into your palm to determine the level at which the tie will be located. I came out about 10-12 cm from the edge.

5. Eyelet. It can be omitted if you plan to store the bag in the closet. I decided to hang the bags on the walls of the kitchen, so I sewed loops. The loop can be made from lace or a piece of fabric, or from a ribbon, like mine. I put two pieces of ribbon together, sewn in the middle to make the loop stronger, and sewed it to the back of the bag (the one that will touch the wall). The eyelet should be placed in the center of the bag width line, just above the level of the tie.

In general, the bags are ready. Rather, one is completely ready, so we put mint in it and hang it on the prepared carnation in the wall.

The second bag needs a couple more touches, and after that it will take pride of place in the kitchen.

6. Decor. The daisies should have been paired with an orange lace or string, which I did not have. The brown leather substitute fits perfectly into the main background and goes up to the ribbon. It was possible to stencil any drawings on pieces, but I did it easier by cutting out arbitrary leaves and laying them out on fabric.

It remains only to glue them to the finished product.

I use a glue gun for all the little gluing work. It's very handy, I'll tell you. We turn on the gun, wait two minutes for the glue to warm up. We apply a small amount of glue to the wrong side of our leaves and press them tightly against the fabric of the bag.

The glue hardens quickly, so glue the leaves one at a time.

Now you can fold the dill and hang the bag on the wall.

How to sew a bag on a drawstring? It is not at all difficult, as it may seem at first glance. The most important thing is to see the process of work once and have fabric and sewing accessories at hand. Even the most inexperienced needlewoman, who is just starting to master cutting and sewing, can sew a bag. If you have recently purchased a sewing machine, then this work is the best suited for mastering sewing technologies) See a master class that will help you easily cope with the work.

What is a coulisse? This is a common sewing term that refers to an integral part of many garments and knitwear. A drawstring is made from a folded-hemmed or separately sewn strip of fabric into which you can insert a braid, rubber band, rope or cord, as in this version of the bag:

The drawstring pouch can be used at home as an organizer for socks and underwear, you can put accessories and small things for needlework in it, and the pouch can also be used for original handmade gift packaging. For sewing a bag on a drawstring, you can use any cotton fabric, chintz, linen, two-thread, burlap or satin fabric, which you can purchase on the website of the store-warehouse "All fabrics". The fabric store presents a huge assortment of fabrics of various types for sewing toys, bed linen, curtains, outerwear, as well as lace and sewing accessories. You can buy high-quality fabrics from Italy, France and England both at retail and wholesale at competitive prices.

For work we need:

  • cotton fabric,
  • printed fabric for decoration,
  • scissors,
  • iron,
  • sewing machine, thread with needles, lace or rope.

Let's get to work. Our bag will be double, so we cut out two parts - two rectangles with sides of 23 and 45 cm. On the long sides of the parts we cut out rectangles 5 by 8 cm, see the photo below.

We sew strips of printed fabric, 4 cm wide, to one of the prepared parts. We need this to decorate the bag, so you can choose a fabric in a contrasting color.

Now we sew the drawstring. From the printed fabric we cut out two strips 8 cm wide and 20 cm long. Fold the strips in half in length and sew to the details of the bag, fold towards the middle of the part, stepping back from the edge of 1.5 cm, as shown in the photo below.

We fold this part of the bag with the finishing fabric in half and sew the sides, stepping back from the edge of 1 cm - allowance for seams.

Open the seam allowances and iron with a hot iron. Sew the details along the bottom edge. Received the front side of the bag.

We sew the lining part of the bag in the same way as the front part, only on the side we leave a small distance unsewn. We will need this in order to turn the bag inside out.

You can start assembling. We turn the part of the inner side of the bag into the unturned part of the front side. We sew the bags along the upper edge, stepping back 0.7 cm.

We turn out the details and this is what we get:

We insert the inner part of the bag into the front and iron the finished product with a hot iron. We thread a lace, ribbon, rope or ribbon into the drawstring.

That's the whole master class) I hope that I explained everything clearly to you and you can easily sew a similar bag on a drawstring yourself. Good luck to you!

How to sew a drawstring bag. MK.

To sew such a fabric bag with ties, we need: fabric, scissors, needles, threads, a sewing machine, ribbons and beads (optional) for making ties, all kinds of small things for decoration.

Then we attach applications to the front sides of the bags.

And we are engaged in the formation of "tunnels" to the eyeballs. To do this, the cut strips must be ironed as follows.

And sew on a strip to both sides of each bag, like this (green dotted line). At the same time, it is important to leave space on the bags under the side seam, so that after sewing the edges of the strips remain free and the lace can be threaded there

Well, all the basic preparations are ready. Now you can finally stitch the bags along the side seam.

Then it all depends on whether you want to leave the bottom of the bag as is or make it rectangular. If you decide to make the bottom rectangular, then you still need to flash the corners like this.

Now we turn the bags on the front side, tuck the top edge and make a line or two (optional) in a circle. The bag is ready, it remains to thread the ties.

Thin satin ribbons are used here as ties, but you can use laces, fabric ribbons, make ties yourself, in general, everything that seems acceptable to you in this situation. With the help of a pin, we first thread one ribbon, starting from one side of the bag in a circle, and then the second - on the other side and also in a circle. The edges of the ribbons should stick out from both sides of the bag. Subsequently, we will tighten the bag simply by pulling the ties in different directions.

For beauty and ease of use, the edges of the ribbons can be decorated with beads.

And then we fill our bags with the necessary things and use them with pleasure in the household.

And in such bags it is convenient to put gifts for the New Year.

  • Chalk for marking or remnant
  • Scissors, needle or sewing machine

Fold the blanks together with the wrong side out. Mark with small lines 1 cm along the edges for turning. Sew the bottom seam, as well as the side seams. The edges should be processed with a zigzag seam (It is better to use an overlock). If the work is done manually, the workpieces should be sheathed with a buttonhole seam.

From above we bend the edge of the product and sew it. We mark the place of the drawstring with chalk. To thread the lace, the width should be about 1 cm. We sew the drawstring so that there is an outlet for the lace. The classic pouch is ready.
