  • Do not neglect impregnation. Even in dry weather, it will not be superfluous to treat the shoes with moisture-proofing agents, because they retain the attractive appearance of the material;
  • Use an eraser. Manufacturers sell a special eraser for nubuck, but if you have not purchased it, then you can use the usual one;
  • Wash the sole. If you want it to be shiny, then wipe it with soapy water;
  • Watch your shoes. Clean it regularly to remove stains, dust and other contaminants. Always have a brush handy so that you can clean your shoes outside the house if necessary, because old stains are more difficult to clean.

Timberland boots are made from natural nubuck. Nubuck is a leather of cattle treated with abrasive materials on the front side, which gives it a characteristic velvety. Shoes made of nubuck are very beautiful and comfortable ... it is not cold in the street, but it is not hot in the room. But what to do if you accidentally stepped into a mud puddle or dropped something on your shoes (blood, oil, etc.). Or maybe you just cleaned your shoes so zealously and often that they lost color, became faded or with whitish spots. Do not rush to throw them away, you can try to reanimate your boots.

So, what to do if you have dirt on your Timberland boots:

Step #1. CLEAN! Timberland boots should be dry. Yes, yes, just like that with all this dirt! If you start to remove dirt that has not dried, you will only smear it more, and it will eat deep into the pile. If your shoes have been impregnated, then the impregnation will not allow dirt to enter and you just have to wait until it dries completely and clean the shoes with a rubber brush.

Step number 2. MY! Timberland boots are dry, and you brushed them with a special foam, but in some places there are stains or dirt spots. What to do?! Heavily soiled suede shoes are perfectly cleaned with soapy water and a few drops of ammonia. You take a cloth and gently wipe until the stains disappear, and then with a damp cloth, but just soaked in clean water to wash off the remaining soap solution. Attention: do not wash Timberland nubuck boots in the washing machine, dip and soak the shoes in a bowl of powder, wash under the tap with hot water.

Step number 3. BEAUTY! Dry well again (if wiped with a wet cloth). So, the shoes are clean, but let's say the color is not so bright or there are whitish spots where you diligently rubbed the dirt. Timberland boots can be dyed with nubuck paint, which is available in a variety of colors. If you don’t want to bother, you can spray the paint directly on the boot, but we offer another way, namely, in order not to stain the threads (stitching) and the light edging of the sole, the paint should be sprayed onto a sponge or napkin and gently blot the boot where necessary . When the paint dries and the color is uniform, tousle the pile with a rubber brush and treat it twice with a colorless water-repellent impregnation spray. Attention: paint for nubuck in the form of a spray and water-repellent impregnation - spray is not the same thing! Don't confuse!!!

What to do if you drop greasy food on your Timberland boots, spill something, drip or smear your Timberland boots:

Step #1 First, we try to clean the stains with a special foam and a rubber brush (eraser). We smear, three, wait and repeat if necessary.

Step #2 If the stain is oily (sunflower oil, machine oil, cream, mayonnaise from a sandwich, etc.), then the MINUTKA stain remover will help you (it costs about 30 rubles). Apply to the stain, wait for the composition to dry and shake off with a brush, if necessary, repeat until the stains completely disappear. (by the way, this stain remover can also be used on clothes and furniture; it does not require washing after use).

Step #3 If you have planted blood stains or stains from something else (but not oily), then clean with warm soapy water. You take a cloth and gently wipe until the stains disappear, and then with a damp cloth, but just soaked in clean water to wash off the remaining soap solution. Attention: do not wash nubuck boots in a washing machine, dip and soak shoes in a bowl of powder, wash under a tap with hot water.

Step #4 So, the stains are gone and the Timberland boots are dry, if you are satisfied with the result, we treat 2-3 times with a water and dirt repellent spray. If you want to freshen up the color or if there are whitish spots left after cleaning, you can refresh the color with a special paint spray for nubuck. in order not to stain the threads (stitching) and the light edging of the sole, the paint should be sprayed onto a sponge or napkin and gently blot the boot where necessary. When the paint dries and the color is uniform, tousle the pile with a rubber brush and treat it twice with a colorless water-repellent impregnation spray. .

Step #5 If the stains don't come out and color-to-color painting doesn't help, you can repaint your shoes a darker color - this will hide the defects and give your shoes a new life.

Step #6 If suede boots feel worn, or if the lint is flattened against the surface of the boot, the lint can be picked up using a clean, dry toothbrush. Usually this procedure is enough, but sometimes the pile is too tightly smoothed. In such cases, you need to follow the same steps, keeping the surface of the suede close to the steam from the spout of a boiling kettle. The steam will loosen the grip of the tangled suede, allowing the fibers to rise again.

Caring for Timberland Nubuck Shoes

Nubuck looks like suede - it looks like leather with small villi. A distinctive feature of this material is moisture resistance, unlike suede shoes. But despite this, the product still requires quite delicate care.

Basic rules for caring for nubuck timbers:

  • Moisture repellent treatment. Despite the resistance of nubuck to dampness, moisture protective agents will help to quickly clean the boots from stains and dirt that have appeared;
  • The use of special products (foam) for cleaning suede and nubuck shoes. Cleaning such shoes with water is strongly not recommended. In addition, the removal of dirt should only be done if the boots are completely dry;
  • Using a rubberized brush Dirt from nubuck shoes is best removed with a stiff rubber brush. It can also be used if you need to lift the pile in shiny areas. If you didn’t take care of purchasing it in advance, you can find an alternative to it - an old toothbrush with medium bristles is suitable for its role. It must be applied carefully, without much pressure;
  • Eraser cleaning. In specialized stores, you can find a nubuck eraser, which is recommended to be used every few months to freshen up the look of shoes. Otherwise, for emergency situations with shoes, you can use the most common stationery eraser.

If you have purchased expensive timberland shoes, try to get a set of products for proper care of them. Improvised means can help you out once, but in the case of their constant use, the shoes may lose their original presentable appearance and shape.

Caring for Timberland Oil Nubuck Shoes

Oil nubuck is another common material that is used in the manufacture of timberlands. It differs from ordinary nubuck in that a special fat composition is applied during its processing. This makes shoe care much easier.

  • Timberlands made from oil nubuck can be treated like regular leather shoes. A standard shoe-shine brush will do, and you can wipe your shoes with a damp cloth;
  • Oil nubuck is a material less capricious than regular nubuck or suede. However, the use of creams for leather shoes still will not do him any good. It is better to purchase a special cleaning agent in the form of an aerosol;
  • It is recommended to regularly wipe the shoes and keep them clean. Owners of any Timberlands need to always have a compact brush for cleaning shoes with them, since dirt tends to be absorbed, and it becomes more difficult to completely clean shoes from them over time;
  • The material should not be treated with water. In no case should timberland boots be dried on a radiator or near a heater. Shoes like standard room temperature.
