How to knit heel to toe. Knitting heel socks

LEARNING TO KNIT A HEEL
DIFFERENT OPTIONS OF KNITTING THE HEEL.

As you know, there are several ways to knit heels when knitting socks.

Consider three of them, this is a straight, stepped heel and a boomerang heel.

GENERAL RULES OF KNITTING

STRAIGHT HEEL

Cast on stitches and distribute them evenly on 4 double needles. The end thread marks the transition of the circular rows, which is always located in the middle of the back of the sock - between the 4th and 1st knitting needles.

Heel wall: set aside the loops of the 2nd and 3rd knitting needles. Transfer the loops of the 1st and 4th knitting needles to one knitting needle and knit as many rows as indicated in the instructions with the front stitch.

1) Heel cup:

Divide the heel wall loops into 3 parts.
On the middle third, knit with the front surface or with a pattern with the loops removed. At the same time, gradually include external loops in the work as follows: in the front rows, knit the last loop together with the next loop of the outer left third together with a broach (remove 1 loop as a face, knit the next loop with the front one and stretch it through the removed loop), turn the work and shoot 1st loop as purl.

2) In the purl rows, knit the last loop with the next loop of the outer right third together with the wrong one, turn the work and remove the 1st loop as a facial one.

3) Holes appear to the right and left of the middle lash, the beginning and end of the row are clearly visible. Knit the heel cup in this way until all the outer loops have been used.

4) Wedge instep:
Knit in circular rows on 4 needles. loops of the cup of the heel are equally dialed on the 1st and 4th knitting needles. On the 1st needle, cast on the left side edge of the heel wall from each 2nd row, 1 loop. Re-include the delayed loops of the 2nd and 3rd knitting needles. On the 4th needle, cast on the right side edge of the heel wall from each 2nd row, 1 loop.

5) In each 2nd circular row, knit on the 1st knitting needle the third from the end and the penultimate loops together with the front one, on the 4th knitting needle, knit the 2nd and 3rd loops together with a broach. Repeat these decreases until the 1st and 4th needles again have the original number of loops that were on the needles before the heel was made. Knit the foot according to the appropriate instructions.

6) Tape toe:
On the 1st and 3rd knitting needles, knit the third from the end and the penultimate loop together with the front one, on the 2nd and 4th knitting needles, knit the 2nd and 3rd loops together with a broach. Perform these decreases in every 2nd circular row until the number of loops is halved. Then decrease the loops in each circular row. The last 8 - 12 loops are tightly pulled off with a double thread. Fasten the threads.

STEPED HEEL

1) Transfer the loops of the 1st and 4th knitting needles to one knitting needle and knit the heel in straight and reverse rows with the front stitch or pattern with the loops removed. Loops of the 2nd and 3rd knitting needles to postpone.

2) At the same time, 2 loops on both sides of the heel knit in garter stitch, this makes it easier to count the rows and creates a more textured shape. Link the number of rows indicated in the table for the first step.

3) At the end of the next front row, set aside the number of loops indicated in the table. Return work. At the end of the next purl row, set aside the same number of loops. On the remaining loops, knit the second step (the number of rows is indicated in the table) with the front stitch or pattern with the loops removed, while again knitting 2 loops on both sides with a garter stitch.

4) In the next front row, remove 1 loop as a front one, at the end of this row, along the left edge of the 2nd step, knit loops from the edge ones (see the table for the number of loops), while the last loop knitted from the edge and the first delayed loop of the 1st step knit together with a broach. Turn knitting. In the purl row, slip the 1st loop as a purl and purl the loops.

After that, along the right edge of the 2nd step, knit the same number of loops from the edge ones, while knitting the last loop knitted from the edge and the 1st delayed loop of the 1st step together with the wrong side. Return work. Knit in this way in stockinette stitch or pattern with stitches removed until all the reserved stitches of the 1st step have been used. Then knit the loops of the first half of the heel.

5) Distribute the loops on the 4th stocking knitting needles. Knit the loops of the 2nd half of the heel with the 1st knitting needle, knit the loops along the left edge of the 1st step from the hem (see the set of loops for the wedge of lifting the foot in the table). Re-include the delayed loops of the 2nd and 3rd knitting needles. With the 4th knitting needle on the right edge of the 1st step from the hem, knit the same number of loops as on the left edge and knit the loops of the first half of the heel.

6) Knit a wedge of lifting the foot in circular rows, while in each 2nd row, knit on the 1st knitting needle the third from the end and the penultimate loop together with the front one, on the 4th knitting needle, remove the 2nd loop as a front one, knit the 3rd loop front and stretch it through the removed loop. Repeat these decreases until the same number of stitches remain on the 1st and 4th needles as on the 2nd and 3rd needles. Then tie the foot according to the instructions (see the table for the length of the foot).

HEEL BOOMERANG

1) The boomerang heel is knitted on the loops of the 1st and 4th knitting needles, which must be divided into 3 parts. Loops of the 2nd and 3rd knitting needles to postpone.

2) The first part of the heel:
1st row (front row) knit and turn the work. Start the 2nd row (wrong side) by making a double loop: place the thread before work, insert the needle into the 1st loop on the right, remove the loop and pull the thread back tightly (so that holes do not form later). The loop scrolls on the knitting needle and becomes double. Place the thread again before work, purl the remaining loops and turn the work.

3) Next, knit in short rows. In the 3rd row at the beginning of the row, perform a double loop, then tie the faces. n. to the double loop at the end of the row and turn the work. Do not knit a double loop! In the 4th row at the beginning of the row, perform a double loop, then tie out. n. to the double loop at the end of the row and turn the work.

4) Repeat 3rd and 4th rows until only middle third sts remain between double sts. Then, on all the loops of the sock, knit 2 circular rows with front loops, knitting each double loop in the 1st row as one loop. If the upper part of the foot is knitted with a decorative pattern, then continue it according to the pattern. After that, the loops of the upper part of the foot are again put aside.

5) The second part of the heel:
1st (front row): knit right and middle loops and turn the work.
2nd row (purl row): work a double loop, purl the remaining loops of the middle third and turn the work.
3rd row: work a double loop, knit the front loops to the double loop, knit it as one front loop. Knit the 1st loop of the left third and turn the work.
4th row: work a double loop, purl up to a double loop, knit it as one purl loop, purl the 1st loop of the right third and turn the work.

6) Repeat the 3rd and 4th rows until all heel loops are included in the work again. Then knit in circular rows on all the loops of the sock.

For such socks, we take homemade Hutsul wool. It is usually sold in skeins,

so you need to wind the wool into a ball. For socks up to size 44, 100 grams of wool is enough.

Previously, colored stripes were always inserted into the elastic band of socks. So we will start with a different color, especially since the factory wool mixture comes with the addition of acrylic and the edge from it will be stronger than from 100% homemade wool.

For sizes from 38 to 43, it is enough to dial 48 loops. You need to count the loops so that their number is a multiple of 4.

We divide the cast-on loops into 4 knitting needles, 12 loops each, lay them out in a square so that the beginning is connected to the end of the row.

With the fifth needle we begin to knit in a circle. Thus, we will always have 4 working knitting needles, each of which has 12 loops and one fifth knitting needle is passing. We will knit an elastic band 2 * 2, that is, two purl and two facial.

Having knitted two or three rows, we change the thread to the main one.

You can add as many stripes as you like. I knit with two.

Having tied the elastic to the “bone” on the leg, that is, three to four centimeters before the heel is knitted, the thread needs to be “strengthened”. To do this, add a thin but strong semi-woolen, cotton or synthetic thread to the main woolen thread. Then you can knit with a smooth facial viscous.

Measure your foot well. The lower end of the bone is the beginning of knitting the heel of the sock.

To do this, we leave the loops on two knitting needles, but we continue to knit not in a circle, but back and forth only on two knitting needles. If you have 24 loops on your heel, then we mentally divide them by 7 + 10 + 7, that is, the middle ten will invariably knit, and the side 7 will connect with them, forming a heel. To restore the connected 7 loops, you will need 7 edge loops to cast on 7 loops from each side.

To do this, we knit 14 rows on two knitting needles. See photo for front view.

and rear view.

In the fifteenth row we knit 7 loops, then 9 loops, and we knit the tenth together with the next one (from the next seven loops).

Having knitted 9 loops, we again knit two together, already taking one loop from the other extreme seven.

Having knitted two together, we turn in the other direction.

Thus, we will knit the middle 10, and the extreme each row will decrease.

The heel begins to form.

Look at the photo, we have 10 loops left on one knitting needle, and the extreme ones on both sides are connected to them, forming a right angle.

Now we restore the missing loops. First, we collect seven loops from the left edge loops, then we knit the loops on the left two knitting needles and approach the right edge loops.

on the right side we also collect 7 loops. now the number of loops has been restored and you can again divide the total into 4 equal parts of 12 on each knitting needle.

Here is such a beautiful heel should turn out. Bottom view.

Heel side view.

If you knit a sock on a narrow leg with a slight rise, then you can decrease one loop on each knitting needle and leave 11 each. It is better to do the decrease on the side and through a row or two, so that it is not sharp. The photo shows: on the one hand, two loops are reduced through two rows, the same is done on the other side.

In the process of knitting, the sock must be periodically tried on or measured with a ruler so as not to be too wide or narrow.

Three centimeters before the end, we begin to launch the sock. We do this one loop on each knitting needle each row. Decrease is best done at the end of the knitting needle and to the right.

The last four loops can be pulled together together.

It turns out here is such a neat sock.

Check the size again until the end of the thread is hidden, and the launch of the sock can still be unraveled and performed over again.

Check the size and the side and the size of the sole.

It seems the sock turned out "fit"

And the owner of the socks admires them from all sides.

It remains to hide all the tails.

"DUTCH" HEEL.

(Example - 72 loops in the first row).

Divide the number of stitches in the row by four. After that, we knit the first quarter (full number of loops) on one knitting needle, skip the last quarter of the row to the other end of the same knitting needle, these loops are for the heel; we divide the other two quarters on two knitting needles and leave them - they are for lifting the foot. For the heel, we always do not knit the first loop, we knit rows with purl and front loops alternately, the number of rows equal to the number of loops on the knitting needle (i.e. 36 rows), the last row is purl. After that, turn the heel, 22 knit, 1 broach, turn, * 9 out, 2 out of inm, turn, 9 persons, 1 broach, turn, repeat from * until all the loops are connected. The last row is purl. We knit half of the loops back, thus completing the heel. We move all the lifting loops to one knitting needle. Taking another knitting needle, we knit the remaining loops of the heel and we knit 18 loops along the side of the heel; from the second knitting needle we knit lifting loops; from the third needle we knit 18 loops on the side of the heel and the first half of the heel loops. We continue to knit already round to the end of the foot.

"FRENCH" HEEL.

(Example 68 loops in the first row).

We separate the loops in the same way as for the Dutch heel. For the heel, we always do not knit the first loop, we knit rows with purl and facial alternately, the number of rows is equal to the number of loops on the knitting needle (i.e., 34 rows), the last row is purl. After that, we turn the heel, 20 persons, 2 persons vm, turn, 7 out, 2 out vm, turn, 8 persons, 2 persons vm, turn, 9 out, 2 out vm, turn, 10 persons, 2 persons vm, turn ; Continue in this manner until all heel sts are on the same needle again. We knit another half of the loops, thus completing the heel. We shift all the lifting loops into one row again. Taking an additional knitting needle, knit the remaining loops of the heel and knit up 17 loops along the side of the heel; from the second knitting needle we knit lifting loops; from the third needle we knit 17 loops on the other side of the heel and the first half of the heel loops. We continue to knit already round to the end of the foot.

Knit heel wedge instep

The two main types of such a heel are the usual square heel (aka Danish) and the round one (more common in Western descriptions). The principle of their knitting is not tied to the plates and therefore they can be knitted on any number of loops Smile

Square heel

English dutch heel

The name, as you can see, comes from the rectangle/square that forms the turn of the heel. English name - dutch heel

Description of knitting according to the book of Margarita Maximova. In the example of a sock for 40 loops

Heel shaping.

heel wall

Divide the knitting into 2 equal parts and then knit only the loops of two knitting needles: the 3rd and 4th. The loops of the 1st and 2nd knitting needles do not participate in the formation of the heel. To make it more convenient to work, first knit the loops from two knitting needles to one (from the 3rd and 4th) and then knit a straight fabric with stocking stitch - heel height (Fig. 339). The height of the fabric is determined as follows: the number of edge loops of the fabric should be equal to the number of loops on one knitting needle. In this example, there should be 10 edging (20 rows). After that, knitting is suspended, finishing it with the front row.

Heel turn

Now the canvas needs to be shaped like a heel. This is achieved by decreasing the loops inside the canvas. Mentally divide the loops, including the edge ones, into 3 equal parts. If the number is not divisible by 3, then add the remainder to the middle part. In this case, distribute the loops as follows: 6 loops for the side parts and 8 loops for the middle. Start decreasing:

1st row (wrong side of the fabric) - purl loops: tie 6 loops of the 1st side part, then all the loops of the middle part, except for the last loop, knit it with the adjacent loop of the 2nd side part (5 loops of 2- and lateral parts were left untied). Knitting turn. 2nd row (right side of the canvas) - front loops: remove the edge loop and pull it tightly to the knitting needle, then knit all the loops of the middle part, except for the last loop, knit it together with the adjacent loop of the 1st side part of the front behind the back walls. Knitting turn.

Repeat 1st and 2nd rows until all sts of the side parts are knitted with the extreme sts of the middle part. The work should end with knitting the front row. Only the loops of the middle part (8 loops) remained on the knitting needle.

When a heel is formed, a nylon or other strong thread can be attached to a woolen thread. Having finished knitting the heel, the nylon thread is cut off and knitting is continued with a woolen thread.

Lift wedge

Knitting a sock to decrease on the toe. Knit this part of the sock again in a circle with facial loops. Start as follows: with the knitting needle on which the loops of the middle part are located, pick up new loops on the front side of the sock from the edge heels - from each edge, one front, only 10 loops (Fig. 340). Next, with a free knitting needle, knit 10 loops on the 1st knitting needle, then with another knitting needle - 10 loops on the 2nd. loops). 4 knitting needles turned out to be in the work again, and on the 3rd and 4th there must be more loops than on the 1st and 2nd. Extra loops are needed so that the sock does not tighten the instep of the leg. Now knit in a circle and at the same time decrease the extra loops on the 3rd and 4th knitting needles, knitting them 2 together purl through 2 rows (circles). So that the thickening from the decrease does not interfere with walking, make them from the edges of the foot, i.e. at the beginning of the 3rd knitting needle and at the end of the 4th. When they have the initial number of loops (10 on each), stop the decrease and knit sock to the end of the little finger (or to the beginning of the toe)

Heel shaping.

The wall of the heel is made in the same way as for the square heel.

Finish the work with the front row.

Heel turn

Start with a purl row. Mark the center of the heel wall with a marker.

1 row. Slip off the first loop as a purl. Purl out 2 sts past the middle marker. Knit 2 together purl, 1 purl, turn the work.

2 row. Slip off the first loop as a purl (thread at the back). Knit 5 front loops. 2 persons together. tilted to the left. 1 persons., turn the work.

Now the heel loops are divided into parts - the middle and the "sides"

3 row. Slip off the first loop as a purl (thread in front). Purl to the last loop of the middle part. Knit 2 together purl, 1 purl, turn the work.

4 row. Slip off the first loop as a purl (thread at the back). Knit to the last loop. 2 persons together. tilted to the left. 1 persons., turn the work.

To knit a straight classic heel, you will need 5 stocking needles, four of which form a square, and the fifth is a working one, on which loops are set. Having connected the leg with the cuff of the required length, proceed to the most difficult stage. Having mastered the skills of knitting in a straight line, it will be easier for you to learn how to work according to other patterns.

  • To knit the wall of the heel, using knitting needles No. 1 and No. 4, you need to knit the fabric - the required number of rows in satin stitch with facial loops. They should be two less than the typed loops (the sum on two knitting needles is 28, the rows should be 26).
  • In order to properly tie the lower part, you need to count the number of loops, divide by a multiple of three. If the number is divisible, then the middle part will be greater than (11+12+11).
  • The middle part is knitted with a satin stitch: the front side - the front side, the wrong side - the wrong side. The side loops should decrease with each row, as the extreme loops are knitted together.
  • The execution of the lower part is as follows: 1st - it is knitted with the front, in the middle part the last loop is knitted together with the crossed front, the work is unfolded; The 2nd purl begins with the fact that the extreme loop is removed as a purl, the middle is knitted purl, the extreme with the next one is also purl, turn over; 3rd - knit according to the scheme, like the 1st. Further, the scheme is repeated until only the middle part remains after assembly.

Method of knitting socks on knitting needles with a heel "Boomerang"

Having knitted a shin in a circle on four knitting needles, you can proceed to the heel of the Boomerang type. It is slightly shorter than the traditional one. For the heel, you will need another additional knitting needle. Double loops are not knitted.

  • According to the "Boomerang" scheme, the heel is knitted only with facial ones. If the lower leg is knitted with an elastic band, then before starting the rounding, you need to go to the smooth surface, making decreases along the entire row by 2 loops.
  • Divide the total number of loops into three equal parts, or add 1-2 extra ones to the central part, which turned out to be in the remainder after division.
  • 1st is knitted with all knits.
  • 2nd - turning the knitting over, perform a double loop once. It is important that both the loop and the thread are tightly tightened, then large holes will not form. To do this, insert the needle into the loop and grab the thread in front of it. Slip together, while pulling the thread back tightly. Knit purl. After completing the row, you need to turn the work.
  • 3rd - stretch a double loop. Then everything is facial. Double loop. Flip.
  • 4th - repeat as well as the 2nd. Further according to the scheme, until the loops remain only on the middle part.

The method of knitting a stepped heel at the toe

The stepped heel is knitted in the same way as in the previous cases, using the first and fourth knitting needles, temporarily leaving the second and third aside.

  • For the back wall of the loops from the first and fourth knitting needles, throw them on one and knit with the front surface.
  • With reinforced knitting, we begin to create a stepped heel in several stages.
  • 1st - facial. Remove one loop as a purl, pull the thread back, knit the front loop. Flip.
  • 2nd - purl. Flip.
  • 3rd - alternation of one front loop, remove one from the wrong side.
  • 4th - purl. Then repeat from the first to the fourth row.
  • The second step is knitted as follows: the last cast-on edge loop and the first set aside are knitted together with a facial broach. Turning the knitting needles with a thread, remove the first loop as a purl, then knit purl. Continue in this pattern until all the loops of the first and second steps are connected at the seam.

Knit heel double knit

You can increase the wear resistance of knitted socks not only by adding an additional thread, but by putting into practice a special method of knitting a double heel, increasing its thickness.

  • As in all cases, knit the back wall in reverse and straight rows. Having created the desired height, stop on the front row, begin to form a cup.
  • Divide all the loops into three parts equally or more on the central one.
  • On the wrong side: the left loop, the middle, the last from the center are knitted with the wrong side together with the first loop on the right side. Flip.
  • Front row: the middle, edge and last loops are knitted together with the side, located nearby. After each row, the work must be turned over.
  • Having knitted all the side loops, you will close the formed cup. Next, you can start knitting the instep wedge and foot.

Knitting a sock to decrease on the toe. Knit this part of the sock again in a circle with facial loops.
Start working like this: with the knitting needle on which the loops of the middle part are located, dial new loops along the front side of the sock from the edge heels - from each edge one front, 10 loops in total (Fig. 340). Next, with a free knitting needle, knit 10 loops on the 1st knitting needle, then with another knitting needle - 10 loops on the 2nd. Now, with a free knitting needle, pick up new loops from the edge of the fabric (as many as you typed from the opposite) and knit half the loops of the middle part with it (4 loops).
4 knitting needles were again in the work, and on the 3rd and 4th there must be more loops than on the 1st and 2nd. Extra loops are needed so that the sock does not tighten the instep of the leg. Now knit in a circle and at the same time decrease the extra loops on the 3rd and 4th knitting needles, knitting them 2 together purl through 2 rows (circles). So that the thickenings from the reductions do not interfere with walking, do them from the edges of the foot, i.e. at the beginning of the 3rd knitting needle and at the end of the 4th.
