Institute power armor.

While exploring the Wasteland, you will be able to discover a lot of different and unique items. Quite often these things turn out to be well-hidden armor and clothing with unique names and special bonuses. Some of them can be obtained as rewards for completing special quests, others are awarded for killing certain enemies, and others can be purchased from a regular merchant.

Below will be descriptions and ways to find original clothing and armor in Fallout 4. This list will be constantly updated with new things.

Black Vest & Wide Leg Pants

  • Type: clothes.
  • Bonuses: none.
  • Location: This set of clothes can be found on the fourth floor of the Hubris Comics building.

In principle, there is nothing special about it (except for the original appearance). The Wasteland is not suitable for battles with mutants, but for ordinary walks through existing cities and your own settlements it is just right. Finding these things is quite easy.

Grognak Costume

  • Type: clothes.
  • Bonuses: Increases melee strength and damage.
  • Location: This costume can be found on the fourth floor of Hubris Comics.

It protects mediocrely, but increases the damage done in close combat. An excellent suit for those who prefer to use edged weapons rather than firearms. It is a copy of the clothing of the famous comic book character “Grognak the Barbarian”. We talked about Grognak's ax in the article The best weapon in Fallout 4.

Silver Cloak & Hat

  • Type: clothes.
  • Bonuses: none.
  • Location: This stylish coat and hat can be found on the fourth floor of Hubris Comics.

This outfit is very similar to the cloak and hat that the Mysterious Stranger usually wears. We remind you that this mysterious character has been accompanying the main characters of Fallout for several decades. It is still unknown who exactly he is and what goals he pursues. As for things, they are of little use, but they look just perfect on a male character.

Bear Mask

  • Type: headdress.
  • Bonuses: none.
  • Location: If you want to get your hands on this unique headpiece, then you should head to Central Boston Polytechnic High School, located east of Diamond City. Once inside the school, go up the stairs and then turn left. Walk forward through several classrooms until you see a huge hole in the floor leading to the school basement. Then find Bosco and kill him. It is he who will have the Bear Mask.

This item is papier-mâché, created by one of the schoolchildren in the distant past. One of its parts has fallen off, and therefore the mask looks extremely scary. It does not give any bonuses, therefore it serves only as a decorative item.

Maxson's Battlecoat

  • Type: clothes
  • Bonuses: increases the Perception parameter by one

Elder Maxson's Battle Suit is a unique piece of armor in Fallout 4. It is a long brown jacket worn by Maxson, the leader of the Brotherhood of Steel, at all times. It looks very stylish and protects the player well.

Many, not knowing the characteristics of the jacket, may consider this coat to be ordinary clothing that just looks nice on the player character. However, in fact, the Battle Suit is able to protect a person from Vault 111 quite well (absorbs 50 damage) and provide him with a good bonus: Perception increases by one.

Unfortunately, Maxson will not part with this item peacefully. Besides, you won't be able to steal his jacket. We tried to do this by playing as a character with level 4 of the Pickpocket perk (allows you to steal things they use from characters), but the game didn’t even show a stealing badge on the elder. Therefore, the only way to get this jacket is to take it from Maxson's lifeless body.

Naturally, if you decide to kill an elder, then all members of the Brotherhood of Steel will instantly consider you enemy number one. So if you are planning to become a member of the Brotherhood, you can forget about this jacket. Otherwise, at some point you will receive a quest to kill him from a faction that is at war with the Brotherhood. However, you don’t have to wait for this moment and go to Prydwen to kill Maxson without any orders. He usually walks along the bridge of the ship.

Adds new power armor that many are familiar with from the concept art from the Fallout 4 art book.
Institute Power Armor now in the Commonwealth, where it should be.
This model of power armor is called I-01 (Institute). The characteristics of the I-01 are similar to the T-60.
The new power armor can be modified in the same way as other types of power armor, but there are no paint options.

You can find it in the place where your main character will sooner or later encounter Kellogg. You just need to climb higher... On the roof of the main building of Fort Hagen, parts of this power armor will be located in a metal box. It will be difficult to miss them.
For those who are in a hurry to get it: open ~ and enter “help I-01 4” where we select the desired base ID.
xx 000F99 - I-01 Left hand;
xx 000F9A - I-01 Right hand;
xx 000F9B - I-01 Left leg;
xx 000F9C - I-01 Right leg;
xx 000F9E - I-01 Torso.

It is noteworthy that the power armor does not have a helmet as such. The power armor body is designed in such a way that the head and body fit into a single structure. Nevertheless, given that, according to the standard, the frame of power armor has a slot for a helmet, it can be equipped with a helmet from any other power armor. On a full set of Institute power armor, the foreign helmet will be visible as the frontal part on the top of I-01's hull. However, of course this will not have a negative impact on the gameplay.

In Fallout 4, the clothing situation is quite confusing. Leaving aside the , and just talking about casual wear, there are two options - full suits or component armor, consisting of separate elements for the limbs, torso and head. Some suits can be worn UNDER parts - for example, the suit from Vault 111.

Full suits usually have simply “no” protection - they are often worn by game characters whom you kill in the story. More reliable protection against various types of damage (physical, energetic and radiation) is provided by composite armor, but finding them is no less difficult than understanding what exactly they offer and in what combinations.

Countless raiders, shooters, super mutants, merchants and other people can find various options for armored, soundproof, lead, reinforced, enameled and other types of armor, looking at which, some players lose the desire to understand all these intricacies. Let's help with this.

We are looking for legendary enemies

From merchants you can buy armor, or its elements, marked “Legendary” - indicated by an asterisk to the right of the name, which has one or another unusual property, such as increasing the rate of recovery of action points, reducing damage by half when falling from a height, or reducing damage by 15% from robots (in total there are more than 20 such properties for armor). This armor can also be obtained from randomly encountered legendary enemies in the game. Especially in insects.

However, you can try to reduce this randomness to a minimum and look for a meeting with such enemies purposefully. To do this, there are many locations available on the map, for example, National Guard Training Site, Jamaica Plain, Supermarket and many others that do not say “CLEARED”. That is, you have not yet killed all the living things there, or after your clearing, the location was again populated by enemies.

When approaching a location, save the game, enter it, find a legendary enemy, defeat him and see what weapon or armor he gives you. If you don’t like the property, you can load the save and try again, since armor drops and properties are randomly generated! Or not save, but then several in-game days must pass for opponents to appear in this location again, after which the above actions can be repeated again.

Note also that there is a mod that increases the frequency of appearance of legendary enemies (at least, this is intended - after installing it, with a 20-fold increase in the number of legendary enemies, I stopped seeing them at all). Additionally, there are console commands that can assign any legendary ability to any weapon or armor. But this cannot be used by players on PS4 and Xbox One consoles.

This way, you can tailor your gear to suit your playstyle: some people like to get more shots in VATS mode, while others prefer to be able to deal more damage to Super Mutants or get a boost to S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

However, in this case we are talking about composite armor of six components, and we are interested in what is worn underneath them. At the start of the game this is the Treated Vault 111 Jumpsuit.

There are also interesting outfits that increase two by one point, such as the synth hunter uniform or the army uniform (+1 to strength and agility).

There are also variations of the basic clothing types, like the Dirty Army Uniform, etc., but the Hunter uniform is more interesting, since it already has resistance to external influences. Army uniforms can be found at the Marksman mercenaries, at the National Guard Training Site, or in Jamaica Plain.

Ballistic polymer fabric

So, we have decided on the basic clothes that we are going to improve. Now we need to learn how to do this on the workbench to improve armor. For this it is necessary, which is inevitable during the course of the main storyline. There are a lot of people in the Underground, but we are interested in the PAM assault robot.

For PAM you need to complete several quests related to opening intelligence department caches. On the Internet, opinions on exactly how many quests need to be completed vary. I did three PAM quests to find caches, but even before them, the quest “Mercer Station” is given, in which you need to install two simple machine gun turrets in the “Zimonja Outpost” settlement. I also did two quests for Dr. Carrington (he also lives in the Subway headquarters) - “Boston at Night” and “Kill List”, and several quests for technician Tom to install MILA devices on the roofs.

Sooner or later, a character named Drummer should speak to you in the Underground and tell you that Tom wants to talk to you. Apparently, these quests can be completed in any order and their number itself can be a random number.

As a result, technician Tom has to talk about the intelligence department and its coolest technologies. After this, you can buy armored clothing from him, and we will gain the ability to create ballistic polymer fabric on suitable types of clothing. For example, the hunter form initially has a defense of 30-15-15.

However, after applying a class 5 bulletproof layer to it, the protection increases to 140-125-15.
