Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Assumption Church in Berezniki

On August 28, 2017, on Monday, a festive service was held in the Dormition Church near the city cemetery. Many worshipers were glad to meet the Assumption of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary in the church, consecrated in honor of this great event for every Christian.

The festive service was led by the rector of the church in honor of St. Luke, Archpriest Mikhail Shekel. He was co-served by Archpriest Victor (Grigoriev) and Priest Artemy (Afanasiev).

The Dormition of the Mother of God represents the good end of this election. The Savior Himself, in the Assumption of Her, took Her soul into His hands. The same was granted to many saints; the same is met, in various forms and degrees, by all the electors of the good part. At the hour of election by hope, this end is only seen, and to some extent it is even foreseen; but then labors, struggles and self-compulsions follow one after another and darken the chosen path. The guiding star remains the good end of the good part. This is the same as a luminous light in the distance for a traveler caught in the darkness. Hope is the activator of energy and the supporter of patience and constancy in what has been begun, and it itself is strong in faith. By faith they choose, by hope they are firm in the election, and by patience they reach a good end.

A procession was made around the temple. After the end of the service, Fr. Michael congratulated all those present on this great holiday, and also especially thanked all the donors of the temple, all the elders of the parish for their invaluable help and work in the creation of this temple.

The great holiday coincided in date with the birthday of Fr. Michael, and all the parishioners, at the end of the service, joyfully congratulated the priest, singing “Many Years” in unison!

By the feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, two more joyful events for all parishioners took place: a new four-tiered iconostasis and a large icon on the outside of the altar were installed and consecrated!

And after the service and congratulations, already in the courtyard of the temple, everyone could refresh themselves with magnificent buns with compote!
