Tulle overskirt on the dress. Do-it-yourself tulle skirt: detailed master classes on making a fashionable American skirt and a fluffy tutu skirt with a selection of photos and video materials

It's no secret that all girls, regardless of age, are great fashionistas. In addition, there are a lot of reasons to be fashionable. It could be a kindergarten party, a festive school event, or just a great mood on a warm day. An airy tulle skirt is perfect for such occasions. It looks very impressive and is also very easy to sew with your own hands.

In order to sew a tulle skirt, you need to ensure that you have the following materials:

  1. Tulle fabric, which is divided into several types depending on softness and density. When choosing such a material, you must first of all be based on the style of the future product. To get a fuller skirt, it is best to choose a stiff fabric, and to create high-quality drapery, soft tulle material is suitable. Also, do not forget about the color of the future item, which also plays a big role in its appearance.
  2. Lining fabric is used for the top layer and lining. Depending on the selected model, such elements may not be used. But if it was decided to make a lining, then the material for it should be smooth and pleasant to the body. As for the top layer, you should choose light material for it.
  3. The elastic band from which the belt of the future skirt will be made. This element is selected according to the color identical to the purchased tulle. You also need to make sure that the belt is comfortable to wear (does not press or chafe).
  4. Bias tape. Intended for processing hem cuts. This is mainly done for aesthetic reasons.
  5. Threads. They must be durable and match the color of the base material.
  6. Decorative accessories and various jewelry for decorating a sewn item.

To work with tulle you will need the following tools:

Sewing a tulle skirt requires some knowledge, as well as the following steps:

  1. Before cutting the material, you need to take measurements. To do this, you need to measure your waist circumference, add two centimeters to the resulting size, this will be the length of the elastic band. The length of the item is determined by the distance from the edge of the item to the waist. To prevent the lining from peeking out from under the main material, it should be made a few centimeters shorter than the length of the skirt.
  2. For a medium-sized skirt you will need from six to ten meters of tulle. Also, fabric consumption depends on the desired pomp and type of product.
  3. It is recommended to sew tulle with small stitches (about two and a half millimeters). In this case, the line should be without gaps and even.
  4. The mesh fabric is gathered on a sewing machine. To do this, you need to loosen the tension of the lower thread and set the machine to the maximum stitch. If a sewing machine is not at hand, assembly is done manually. In this case, the stitches are made frequent and small.
  5. All resulting seams on tulle must be ironed well with an iron, which is heated to the minimum temperature.
  6. When working with tulle fabric, do not forget that it is very delicate.

Tulle tutu skirt

This skirt model is characterized by great pomp, which can be made from a large number of layers of hard tulle.

To create such a model you need:

  1. Purchase a hoop or ring from a specialized sewing store to secure the future product.
  2. Take about eight meters of tulle fabric, cut it into five equal pieces.
  3. Next, using a pre-purchased hoop, the material is assembled in a circular manner. In this case, you should get five assembled parts.
  4. After this, all the tulle elements are placed on top of each other and connected with thread.
  5. The final step is to sew the belt to the inside of the skirt.

It is worth considering that the length of the skirt must be adjusted in each part taken separately. Since the product will be fluffy, it will not be possible to trim the hem of the finished skirt evenly.

Tulle skirt with elastic

Most fashionistas prefer elastic instead of a belt, and this is not without reason. Firstly, the elastic band is more comfortable to wear, and secondly, it holds the product more securely at the waist.

However, to create such a model with your own hands, you need to have a little more experience than when working with a regular satin ribbon.

So, to sew a tulle skirt with an elastic band yourself, you need:

  • cut three or more pieces of mesh fabric, gather them, sew them;
  • measure the required length of the elastic band, which should be 2-3 centimeters larger than the waist circumference;
  • sew the ends of the elastic, for this it is best to use a zigzag stitch;
  • Attach the resulting joining scar of the elastic to the seam on the skirt. Next, carefully and evenly stretch the elastic around the entire circumference of the product and sew it with strong threads.

Multilayer product

The best material for creating a multi-layer skirt is tulle. In addition, in some cases it is recommended to combine it with fabrics such as organza or tulle.

To make the item bright and exclusive, you need to make the skirt not only multi-layered, but also multi-colored. For each layer you need to select a specific fabric color. Also, the effectiveness of the skirt depends on the different lengths of the layers. If each layer is of a different length, then, in addition to everything else, the thing will also turn out to be stepped.

Sewing such a model involves performing the following steps:

  1. Unfold the layers.
  2. Connect all the resulting layers together. In this case, it is necessary to strictly adhere to the required order.
  3. Gather the fabrics into an accordion.
  4. Sew a satin ribbon or wide elastic band to the skirt.

A stepped multi-layer tulle skirt will look more impressive if bias tape or a narrow satin ribbon is sewn to its edges.

Model - sun

This style of skirt is often chosen by older girls because of the romance and sophistication of this model. To sew it, you need:

  1. Take all necessary measurements (length and waist circumference). To calculate the waist radius, you need to divide the resulting volume by a constant number “PI” (3.14), and then divide by two. You need to add five centimeters to the desired length, which will then go to the seam.
  2. On a sheet of thick paper, make a pattern that will consist of two arcs of different radii. The resulting smaller semicircle will be the waist radius, and the larger one will be the length of the skirt.
  3. The cut out pattern is applied to tulle, pre-folded in several layers. Then it is outlined with a special felt-tip pen and cut out. After performing these steps, you should get two round tulle shapes with a hole.
  4. The pieces are folded and fastened using stitches or tailor's pins.
  5. The length of the elastic is measured, its ends are sewn together, and then it is sewn directly to the inside of the product itself.

The circle skirt should have a lining, which, together with the tulle, is sewn to the belt. To prevent the petticoat from being visible, its length should be 5-7 centimeters shorter than the tulle. As for the color of the lining, it can be neutral or match the color of the skirt itself.

A properly sewn circle skirt should have no seams.

Chopinka variant

This product model is also called a ballerina. It is sewn from mesh fabric and is very fluffy. The process of sewing such a skirt is practically no different from sewing a multi-layer or “sun” skirt. In addition, the finished item can be either single-tiered or multi-tiered (two or more tiers). Moreover, the more tiers, the more magnificent the product.

Chopinka is mainly sewn for teenage girls.

It goes well with a colorful T-shirt, tank top and sweater, creating a modern image of a young beauty.

The traditional shopenka is made from two types of tulle:

  1. Hard, from which the lower layers are made, giving the skirt a special volume and airiness.
  2. Soft, this type of material is used to create top layers. It is this look that gives the thing tenderness.

Master class on sewing tulle products

To sew a tulle skirt with your own hands, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Using an old skirt, take measurements. In this case, the length and volume of the waist play a role.
  2. According to the obtained dimensions, cut out four flaps from tulle fabric, one flap of the same size from shiny material.
  3. Set your sewing machine to the longest stitch length. At the same time, do not forget that the seam must be made one centimeter.
  4. Sew each pre-cut flap along the top edge.
  5. Take the stitched scrap and pull the protruding threads, this way you can gather the material. You need to pull the threads until the circumference of the item is equal to your waist.
  6. Tie the elongated threads into knots on both sides, and cut off the excess.
  7. To connect the gathered pieces of fabric together, you need to set the middle stitch on the sewing machine and sew each flap along the existing stitch direction.
  8. Next, take five pieces of shiny material (tulle is best) and apply the outside to each other.
  9. Folded pieces of tulle are stitched along the top edge.
  10. A satin ribbon is used for the belt, which must first be ironed.
  11. Place a ribbon on the skirt blank. At the same time, it should cover all existing seams.
  12. Sew satin ribbon along the bottom edge.

And that’s it, the beautiful tulle skirt is ready.

Self-made skirt without sewing

Even a beginner in sewing can work with a material such as tulle, since it is easy to process and has many different options.

In addition, there are many options for sewing full tulle skirts without using a sewing machine.

Thus, to replenish your wardrobe with a new item of your own design without sewing, you need:

  • First of all, decide on its size and pattern;
  • Cut strips from tulle. For a standard size skirt you will need from forty to sixty strips measuring 20x25 centimeters;
  • purchase a special checkerboard elastic band at a sewing store or salon, which must be connected into a ring using a knot or seam. Next, put the ring obtained from the elastic band on the top of the chair;
  • each tulle strip must be folded in half, and then, using the resulting bend, tie them to the elastic with a regular classic knot. In this case, the knot should not be tightly tightened on the elastic band, but should not dangle from it. Also, all knots should fit tightly to each other so that no fragments of the elastic are visible;
  • When all the strips are tied, their ends will need to be carefully trimmed. To do this, you need to clamp the fabric tightly and trim off the excess ends.

To give the skirt more flavor, you can attach a bow or other decorative elements to it.

You can also use a regular elastic band, but then the skirt will turn out to be single-tiered.

You should start with the fact that a tulle skirt can be long or short.

A long skirt will be a very beautiful part of a holiday outfit, but a short one is perfect for parties and walks with friends. You can sew both of them yourself, thus not only saving the family budget, but also turning your original ideas into reality.

How to sew a long tulle skirt?

Long tulle skirts look fluffy and elegant. They can be more romantic or quite expressive. In both cases, the sewing technology is the same, the only difference is in the originality of your design ideas.

In order to sew it you need to purchase:

  • Several types of tulle of different densities (and different colors, if that’s your idea)
  • Satin, from which we will create the base
  • Silk ribbon
  • Nonwoven
  • Scissors, thread, needles, centimeter

Advice! It is best to buy tulle of moderate hardness. The fabric with a slight shine, patterns, and embroidery looks attractive, which remains fashionable in 2015.

If you have prepared everything, we can start working. First of all, decide on the style, which should depend on the event for which you need the outfit. If the idea has already matured for a long time, we begin taking measurements. You need to measure your waist and decide on the length of your future skirt.

We take hard tulle (remember, we advised you to buy several types of different densities) and cut it into small strips, about 15 centimeters each. We also cut soft tulle into strips, but they will be 10 centimeters wide. Be sure to process the cuts so that they do not begin to creep.

The ribbons must be sewn together and stitched in the middle. After this, carefully pull the threads together to form ruffles.

Let's start cutting out the yoke. To do this, you will need stretch satin, from which you need to cut a rectangle. This element should be slightly wider than your hips. Its side parts also need to be processed. Don't forget to tuck the top part, making a drawstring through which you will stretch the satin ribbon. It is best if the ribbon contrasts with the main color of the skirt or matches it. As you probably already understood, this element will further regulate the width of the skirt.

Now you can proceed to the last stage. Sew ruffles from stiffer fabrics together and gather them slightly at the top of your skirt. Sew the ruffles that you made from soft tulle to the bottom of the frills. Carefully sew all this to the yoke. Please note that the upper tiers should cover the lower ones by about half.

You can determine the number of tiers needed based on the desired length of the skirt.

That's it, your skirt is ready. If you want to sew a short multi-layered tulle skirt, I suggest the following master class.

How to sew a short tulle skirt?

The process is very simple and any woman can cope with it, even if she has never picked up a needle. This is because needles are of no use to you.

You will need:

  • Tulle, about two rolls, 15 cm wide.
  • Elastic band, at least two centimeters wide.
  • A beautiful satin ribbon that matches or contrasts with the main color of the skirt.
  • Cardboard in the form of a rectangle

First of all, make a template out of cardboard that will help you cut the tulle for the skirt. To do this, cut out a rectangle. It should be the same length as your future skirt.

Measure your waist and start cutting tulle. For example, if you are the lucky owner of a model appearance and your waist is 60 cm, you will need exactly 60 strips of tulle. Wrap the fabric around the cardboard and cut.

One of the latest trends in children's fashion is a fluffy tulle skirt (or as it is also called a tutu skirt). And really, what girl wouldn’t want to feel like a real princess in such a tutu skirt?

This article presents four master classes on sewing and making a tulle skirt with your own hands, as well as additional ideas for using tulle in children's clothing.

What is tulle?

Tulle is a synthetic fabric made of nylon mesh. The rigidity of the tulle depends on the size and density of the mesh cells - hard, medium-hard and soft tulle are distinguished separately. Today, there is a wide variety of tulle textures: shiny and matte, colored and plain, additional fabric decor - glitter, embroidery, rhinestones, flocked coating.

Tulle is sold both as regular fabric in cuts 1.5-3 m wide, and in rolls.

Clothes made from this fabric hold their shape well, do not wrinkle and are difficult to get dirty.

For sewing children's skirts, it is preferable to use soft tulle made in Europe or America.

So, how to sew a tulle skirt?

Option one: tulle skirt master class

What you will need:

Please note that the exact amount of fabric will depend on your baby's size and proportions. Use your daughter's finished skirt as a guide for taking the necessary measurements. You need to measure your waist circumference and product length.

  • meter of tulle;
  • 0.5 meters of shiny tulle, matching the usual shade;
  • 1.5 meters of satin ribbon.

Let's start making the skirt:

Cut 4 pieces of tulle to your measurements. Cut a piece of shiny tulle.

Set your sewing machine to the longest stitch length possible, allowing for a 1cm seam. Sew each piece of fabric individually along the top edge, including the sequined tulle.

Take one thread from the edge of the resulting stitch (in the photo below I'm only holding the top thread) and gently pull it to gather the fabric. Continue pulling the threads, straightening out any wrinkles that form. Do everything extremely carefully!

Pull until the circumference of the skirt is equal to the circumference of your waist. Tie knots on both sides of the stitch and trim off any excess threads. Repeat this with each piece of tulle.

To secure the resulting folds, set your sewing machine to medium stitch length and sew each piece of tulle along the existing stitch line.

Take all 5 pieces of tulle and place the outside together. The easiest way to do it is to find the middle of each piece and pin them together.

Sew all 5 pieces of tulle along the top line using a sewing machine. Since tulle is a fairly light fabric, sewing them will not be difficult.

Fold the waistband in half and iron on low.

Place the tape on the skirt, it should cover all the machine seams. Again, it’s better to start from the center of the skirt, gradually moving towards the edges. Sew the ribbon to the skirt along the bottom edge. I did this twice to ensure the belt was secure.

So, your skirt is ready. Due to the free ends of the ribbon, it can be easily tied around the child's waist.

Option two: tulle tutu skirt

This tutorial is designed to create the most basic and simple ballet tutu. Its dimensions are 28 cm in length and approximately 25-28 cm in width.

To create such a skirt you will need scissors, a large book, a wide checkered elastic band about 4 cm wide and two spools of tulle.

Wrap the rubber band around the book. This is necessary to make it easier to work with it in a tense position. Cut strips of tulle 56 cm long. I recommend that you start by cutting 10 strips and using them, and then cutting more. It will be much more convenient this way. Fold the strip of fabric in half and thread it into the second row from the bottom. If you thread strips into the very bottom row, the product will not be strong and may tear. Make a knot and pull it tighter, making sure it is pulled straight and tight.

Continue tying knots in the second row below. When you finish the entire row, you will have the first layer of the pack. But we decided to make the skirt two layers for more volume and fullness.

For the second layer you will need a regular pen to make the work easier. It’s very easy to get confused and miss the right hole, so the guide here will be the handle that you move as you tie knots in the row. Simply move to the third row and continue tying tulle knots as you did before with the second row. Don't forget to straighten the tulle strips and pull them down to create a beautiful and full skirt.

Option three: DIY tutu skirt

You will need tulle for the skirt and a wide elastic band (elastic band), approximately 1.5 cm wide.

Skirt making technique:

Measure the child's waist and cut this length from the elastic, subtracting 2.5 - 5 cm from the resulting length. This ribbon will serve as the skirt's waistband.

Connect the ends of the elastic, overlapping one end with the other by about 0.5-0.8 cm.

Sew the ends of the elastic.

Cut a piece of fabric. What should be the length of the tulle? Everything is very simple: measure the distance from the belt to the desired length, multiply the resulting number by 2 and add another 2.5 cm. If your tulle comes in one piece, you need to cut it into strips approximately 7.5 cm wide. I use tulle in a roll, suitable in width.

So, everything is ready. Let's start making the skirt!

Hang a belt loop over the back of a chair or something similar. Fold the strip of fabric in half (that's why you had to multiply the length by 2). Tie a knot from a strip of tulle around the waistband (that's why you needed to add 2.5cm to the length of the fabric).

Repeat the steps, making a similar knot next to the first knot on the belt. Having made 4-5 knots, squeeze them tightly and move them towards each other. (Practice shows that it is better to move the knots in exactly this quantity).

Our skirt is ready. Here are approximate calculations according to my standards:

  • Belt length: 48.5 cm
  • Skirt length: 38 cm (length of tulle strips - 78 cm)
  • Number of knots tied on the belt: 90

Option four: long tulle skirt for girls

You will need tulle, a light and airy fabric for the lining, and a firm elastic band that will sit at the waist and serve as the skirt's waistband.

In order to find out the size of the fabric for the lining, measure the length of the future skirt from the waist to the floor. For my daughter, the length of the skirt should be 60 cm. To find out the length of the tulle, multiply the resulting number by 3 (for my product I needed approximately 60 cm of fabric for the lining and 180 cm of tulle).

Cut the tulle into 3 parts: each part should be the appropriate width that you need. In the same way, cut a piece of fabric for the lining.

Fold each piece of fabric in half, aligning and shaping the edges. Sew the edges of each piece together. Press the seam on the tulle to one side and overcast using thread of the corresponding color. This way you will receive 4 fabric blanks for your future skirt. (If the edge of the fabric on your lining is fraying and unraveling, overcast that edge as well. Or you can trim about an inch from the bottom of the fabric, which will leave the lining slightly shorter than the main length).

Place 4 pieces of fabric together, one inside the other, and straighten them from the right side out. You should also make sure that all seams match each other. In the photo below you can see 3 pieces of tulle nested inside each other, and their seams form a single, straight line. Place the lining base inside these layers of fabric.

Check the seams and bottom edges to ensure they line up.

The seams will be located on the back and, as you can see in the photo, they extend slightly beyond the borders of the fabric, since such a delicate fabric is very difficult to sew. If you want, you can cut the front top part of the fabric a little (since usually the fabric in the front is located a little lower in the waist area than on the back side).

Next, you need to overcast the top edge of the skirt around the perimeter where the belt will be located. The seam should be made with light and large stitches. Divide the top of the skirt into quarters (seam inside) and mark with pins.

Measure the girl's waist. Cut the elastic for the belt 4-5 cm shorter than your waist size. Bring the edges together and sew them together using a zigzag stitch as shown in the photo below.

Straighten the skirt by pulling the bottom thread. Make the folds on the skirt as neat and even as possible. When you place the elastic on the skirt, tuck any bumps and seams into the waistband.

Then sew the belt to the skirt, starting with a zigzag stitch, gradually stretching the belt. The belt will go all the way around the skirt, as you can see in the photo below.

And the last step is to inspect the skirt and remove all excess threads and stitches. That's all, our skirt is ready. Happy sewing!

Ideas for using tulle in the decor of children's clothing

Associated with tenderness, lightness and grace. A girl in a fluffy tulle skirt looks like a floating cloud. Despite the fact that the model visually increases volume, the transparency and lightness of the tulle make the figure weightless and graceful. A long tulle skirt will hide the curvature of the legs and fullness of the hips, improve proportions and smooth out the angularity of the figure. Tulle skirts are universal and suitable for all women, regardless of size and age.

The fashion for maxi length was introduced by show business stars. First, full skirts appeared at fashion shows and red carpets, and now tulle products have become firmly established in the everyday wardrobe of a modern woman.

When the maxi skirt made of tulle just began to conquer urban fashion, such formulations as “children’s trend” and “naive romance” appeared, but today few people would dare to call a tulle skirt naive or childish. Floor-length products are suitable for creating cocktail and evening looks, and midi-length skirts are in perfect harmony with everyday wear.

A long fluffy tulle skirt is suitable for creating grotesque, strict, glamorous and sloppy looks. The color of the skirt and the features of the cut are of great importance. It would seem that there cannot be anything complicated in or double sun. However, to achieve different stylistic effects, designers use their sewing and decorating tools. For example, a high-waisted long skirt elongates the figure well and emphasizes the waistline, while French-length elasticated skirts smooth out angularity, hide the fullness of the hips and give the silhouette an hourglass shape.

Who suits a long tulle skirt?

A maxi skirt suits all women without exception, but short girls should be careful with particularly curvy models, as they can visually reduce their height. In this case, it is better to choose bell-shaped tulle skirts, and you need to complement the ensemble with high-heeled shoes.

The elongated style was appreciated by fans of romantic, rocker and dramatic styles. Models with a slight flare are suitable for a full figure. They distract attention from massive buttocks and hips, elongate the silhouette and visually lighten the image.

For whom are maxi skirts contraindicated? Stocky women with a wide body will have to give up long tulle models. No matter how feminine full-length tutu skirts are, they will only emphasize the coarseness of the figure. But being overweight is not a contraindication to wearing a tulle skirt. A long skirt made of soft tulle flows beautifully along the legs, giving the silhouette gracefulness. Contrary to popular belief, dark models do not always hide fullness, but skirts in cool pastel colors may be more successful. may appear in the wardrobe of a girl in the body, but thin fashionistas should choose a product in smoky gray, caramel and beige-golden tones.

How to wear it correctly

Tulle skirts in pastel colors are at the peak of popularity, but stylists are increasingly offering bold combinations based on deep and interesting colors: purple, emerald, burgundy, sapphire. Such products are in harmony with clothes in black, denim items in natural shades and leather goods. A white tutu skirt is combined with a lace top in silver and gold tones. But the best option for a white skirt would be tight-fitting knitwear in a bright shade.

A floor-length tutu skirt is well suited for an autumn-winter wardrobe. In this case, you should wear a long skirt with voluminous sweaters and textured knit jumpers. The top is tucked into the waistband of the skirt, and the waistline is emphasized with a belt.

A fluffy floor-length skirt goes well with turtlenecks, over which a blazer or cropped jacket is worn.

An ensemble of a retro-style blouse and cropped jacket can be complemented by a long tulle tutu skirt in dark colors. Long skirts are often worn with leather items. Until recently, the combination of brutal clothing and floating tulle seemed daring and grotesque, but today such options often appear in ensembles for every day. To create a spectacular punk-style look, you should complement a pastel-colored black skirt and accessories with metallic decor.

For mature women, ankle-length tutu skirts in subdued colors are suitable. This skirt can be complemented with:

  • a loose-fitting blazer with an emphasis on the waist;
  • pullover and V-neck;
  • plain blouses of a classic cut made of glossy fabrics;
  • sweaters of a close-fitting silhouette with a high neck.

If the question of what to wear with a floor-length sun-cut skirt does not arise, then asymmetrical models of tulle skirts are very capricious and require a special approach when choosing companion clothing. Short in the front and long in the back, the model can be combined with rolled up sleeves, crop tops and lace corsets. If you choose a top that matches the skirt, you will get a harmonious look, and the skirt and top together will resemble an eccentric dress.

Shoes and accessories for a floor-length skirt

If you ask any stylist what shoes to choose for a floor-length tulle skirt, he will unconditionally answer -. These can be stiletto heels and practical shoes with stable heels. A fluffy maxi-length skirt can be combined with low-cut shoes, provided that the woman is above average height. Otherwise, the image will turn out to be scanty and unbalanced.

In the autumn-winter period, long skirts can be worn with ankle boots and boots, as well as over the knee boots, however, the beauty of the latter can be seen if the long tulle circle skirt has an asymmetrical cut.

The youth look is diversified with sneakers and sneakers in pastel colors. If earlier stylists advised not to overuse sports-style shoes and accessories when creating looks based on a tutu skirt, today white Converse and laconic backpacks are acceptable for a girl with a good figure and correct proportions. Young fashionistas can also try on ankle boots and Chelsea boots, sneakers and ankle boots in a retro style.

Light and airy skirts captivated both little girls and adult women with their beauty.

Universal clothing that is suitable for the fair half of humanity of all ages. Read how to make a tulle skirt for a girl with your own hands.

To make a beautiful tulle skirt you don’t even have to know how to sew. But it’s worth deciding on a model that will suit your age and your wardrobe.

The main types of clothing are described in the table:

Type of skirt Description
Tutu Simple, but short and fluffy skirt. Suitable for stage performances, children's photo shoots and matinees.

An adult lady will not wear such a model. You can decorate your clothes with stars, hearts and sparkles

Tatyanka An option that resembles a shopinka. However, this model is more magnificent and heavier. Usually has many tiers, maybe a long train
American The most fantasy and frilly skirt. It can have either one layer of tulle or several, gathered into folds and decorated with ruffles. The model must have a lining
Chopinka The simplest option without unnecessary frills and ruffles. Maybe in one layer or multi-layer. The classic shape of this model is a sun or a bell.

Very light and airy. Suitable for both little girls and adults

Advice! You can even wear a tulle skirt every day, combining it with simple plain light sweaters and T-shirts.

A flower hoop or a cute hairpin would be a successful and harmonious addition.

For the little fashionista, mothers want to create the image of a princess. But if the needlewoman has never even held a thread and a needle in her hands, you can simply use scissors. No need to sew anything!

Just gather all the materials you will need to create the skirt:

  • Fatin.
  • Rubber.
  • Scissors.

Important! Calculate the length of the stripes based on the girl’s height and the estimated length of the skirt.

You can use ready-made strips rather than whole pieces of fabric to cut fewer strips. It is profitable to buy mesh in a skein 5-10 cm wide. Such materials can be purchased at fabric stores.

To make a tutu, you will also need a chair. Measure the circumference of your daughter's hips, remember that the elastic should be taut, but not put pressure on the child. Tie or sew the finished strip.

Advice! It is better to tie both ends of the elastic with a small knot so that you can adjust the size. This trick will help you make a skirt that will grow longer.

Now pull the elastic band ready to size over the back of the chair. Prepare the following materials - mesh strips.

The tulle needs to be cut into small but even pieces about 1 meter long and 10 cm wide. For a short skirt for a small one-year-old baby, 60-70 cm is enough.

You will need a lot of strips - from 40 pieces. The quantity depends on the splendor of the product and the age of the girl. You can create interesting options by alternating stripes of different lengths and colors.

When all materials are prepared, follow the step-by-step instructions:

  • Tie the strip with a stretched elastic band. There is no need to make a tight knot; distribute the tulle tails evenly.
  • Tie the next strip next to it. There should be no spaces between each, the mesh should completely cover the elastic band.

Tie strips until you run out of creativity. When the elastic is no longer visible, remove the finished skirt and try it on your little princess.

This item would be ideal for a photo shoot or performance in kindergarten.

To avoid buying extra material and to calculate each strip, use these tips:

  • For children under one year old, the length of the skirt will be only 20 cm. In the store you can purchase only 2.5-3 meters of fabric with a standard meter width.
  • For girls from 3 to 5 years old, the minimum length of a tutu is 30 cm. It will take about 3-4 meters of tulle to make.
  • To create a stage look for an adult girl, the stripes should be longer, thicker and the layers thicker. You will need to make 100 strips of fabric. A minimum of 6-7 meters of material is required.

But sometimes there are skeptical women behind the store counter, so you have to do the calculations yourself and roughly.

Master class: sewing a lush multi-tiered tutu

To create a multi-tiered skirt, you need to have basic knowledge of cutting and sewing. If you have a sewing machine in the house, then making such a model will take no more than an hour or two.

For the multi-tiered bundle master class you will need:

  • Pattern of the sun.
  • Textile.
  • Lining material.
  • Sewing supplies.

Advice! The more layers a model has, the more fabric needed for sewing.

Now you need to make all the measurements. If the skirt has elastic, then the resulting waist circumference figure should be reduced by 2-3 cm.

First start sewing the lining; it is better to use satin or cotton to match the tulle for the bottom layer.

Use an old ballet skirt as a lining to save time making the bottom layer:

  1. Make the first layer according to the pattern. For an inexperienced seamstress, it is better to practice on old fabric first. Keep in mind that there will be fold lines 2-3 cm above and below.
  2. Create suns based on the model. The layers will all be the same size, experiment with fluffiness based on taste and color.
  3. Now all the parts need to be connected. The mesh does not need stitching, but do not forget to hem the bottom of the lining.
  4. Sew each layer onto the petticoat in turn. You can also use another method - secure all layers with an overcast stitch and machine along the edges.

But in this case, the quality of the technology must be high in order to penetrate such thickness.

Trim the finished product with scissors from the bottom. The length of the tulle part can be made a few cm longer so that the bottom layer is not visible. Be a beautiful princess at any age.
