Shoulder straps of the Russian army. Shoulder straps of the Russian army and navy: photo

Many of those present served in the army.
Each branch of the military has its own “signature” color.

Some people probably wondered why or when this color was introduced.

Who knows when the colors of the military branches that were in the SA and are in the RA were introduced?

As for the color of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, if no one tells you, I’ll write later.

I just know that leaving the motorized rifle troops in red uniform was scary. they were confused with crimson hanging ones. and here in the Urals, where there are zones all around, swindlers used to even throw demobilizers off a train. that's why everyone left with the blacks. We had an anti-tank platoon. plus I’m a BMP mechanic with tank emblems on black and left. The command turned a blind eye to this.

This is true. We also had such cases in the Far East (Dmitry will forgive me) - well, in the sense of throwing explosives off trains...
Yes, only the infantry had the letters “SA” on their shoulder straps, and the BB officers had the letters “VV”.
And the shoulder straps were slightly different in color...

Ha! Airborne Forces... Why won’t anyone remember the Air Force?!
They are “closer to heaven” than the “vaunted paratroopers”. The Airborne Forces simply “caught up” with the Air Force, and so it’s the same infantry, only dropped from airplanes. "One born to crawl cannot fly!"
Kidding.

Black - SA tank divisions.
Scarlet - motorized rifle divisions of the SA.
Blue - Air Force and Airborne Forces.
Green - border troops.
Krapovy - internal troops.
I don’t know about the fleet.

There were worse disturbances there. I myself served 87-89, but my grandfathers said that at first their shoulder straps were black (from about 86, I don’t know before), the insignia in the buttonholes was a connection. Then later the communications were changed to artillery, leaving the shoulder straps black. When I arrived, they transferred me to blue - but again they established a connection, and about half a year later they made “chickens” - so I demobilized with them...

“grandfathers” are us 86-88 (scoops at the time of your call)
we were drafted and wore black clothes with guns. the Strategic Missile Forces were treated for a long time - even by the time Penkovsky defected - the legend says (the political officer said) that the missile unit was then folded and taken out overnight.
a year or a year and a half later (I don’t remember) when the GuKoS was transferred to a separate branch of the military, we were given blue shoulder straps and propellers - and so we were discharged as pilots.

Another thing to add is that naval aviation has the same shoulder straps as naval ones, only the gap is blue; naval border guards have the same shoulder straps, but the gap is green. For naval doctors, the lumen is red. It seems that the Marine Corps also had standard naval shoulder straps, but with a red light (although I’m not completely sure, I’ve already forgotten).

The most beautiful shoulder straps are probably on the landing force doctor of the rocket and space forces based on border submarines...

I definitely remember on the dress uniform that they were blue (in the Soviet Army).
But I’ve already forgotten about my everyday uniform...

P.S.: It seems that everyday uniforms are also blue: The first vests appeared during the sailing fleet. They supposedly appeared in Russia in 1876.

The story there is that they seem to have been formed from Marines, and the head of the airborne troops, a former Marine, dragged the symbol of pride of the Marines - the vest - into the airborne troops, only the stripes were replaced with blue ones. Each branch and type of troops has its own attributes. In addition to the battle flag and chevrons, the concept of distinctive signs includes shoulder straps. It is by this accessory that one can determine not only the rank of a serviceman, but also his affiliation with one or another army. However, it is very difficult for an unprepared person to do this. Today we will try to understand the colors and letter designations on the shoulder straps of military personnel and cadets of the Russian army, as well as law enforcement agencies.

Shoulder straps of the USSR (1973-1991)

Since there are quite a lot of types of modern shoulder straps, first let’s take a little dip into history, namely, in the seventies of the last century, where in the ranks of the USSR armed forces, in terms of shoulder straps, everything was simple and clear - the accessories on the shoulders of non-officer personnel were monolithic in color with the corresponding letters notations. For clarity, we list some types of shoulder straps:

  • crimson with the letters BB meant that the soldier belonged to the internal troops of the USSR;
  • scarlet shoulder straps with the inscription SA (it was simply deciphered - “Soviet army”) belonged to employees of the motorized rifle troops;
  • red ones with the inscription SA were considered combined arms;
  • border guard soldiers wore green shoulder straps with the letters PV;
  • black shoulder badges with the letters SA were worn by tank crews and artillerymen;
  • blue shoulder straps with SA markings belonged to paratroopers, as well as to all Air Force employees;
  • blue shoulder straps decorated with the letters GB were worn by representatives of the State Security Committee.

Separately, it is worth highlighting the shoulder straps of the USSR Navy servicemen. They were black, but for some time their distinctive feature was the letter designation of the fleet in which the sailor served. For example, the markings of the BF and TF were deciphered as “Baltic Fleet” and “Pacific Fleet”, respectively.

Modern shoulder straps

Of course, some elements of shoulder straps migrated to the modern army from the USSR (some of them have not even undergone changes), but today the military accessories familiar to everyone look a little different. For example, you will no longer see a soldier in red or blue shoulder straps - now the colors are reflected only in the so-called gaps (stripes). In addition, today's field uniform completely implies the abandonment of traditional shoulder straps (the rank insignia is located in the chest area).

Fortunately, the daily and dress uniforms of military personnel of all ranks have undergone a minimal number of changes in terms of attributes compared to the Soviet period. Let's take a closer look at the appearance of the shoulder straps of the modern Russian army, law enforcement agencies, as well as military educational institutions.

We should start with the fact that every contract soldier, regardless of the type of service, has at least 3 pairs of shoulder straps. This is due to the presence of casual and dress uniforms, as well as the rules for wearing military accessories on them.

An interesting fact is that on the tunic of an officer’s dress uniform (for example, the Airborne Forces) golden shoulder straps will be worn, while on a white shirt under the same tunic there should be accessories of the same white color. Of course, the shades of the gaps are strictly observed.

Now let's move on to the consideration of uniform paraphernalia by branches and types of troops.

Shoulder straps of the Ministry of Defense (combined arms, shoulder straps of the ground forces). This category of accessories includes products in the following colors:

  • olive (everyday);
  • white (ceremonial shirt);
  • golden (ceremonial ones on the jacket);
  • gray (everyday overcoat);
  • green (for the office uniform of Moscow Region employees).

Both the classic version of hexagonal shoulder straps and products with a bevel are possible.

The presence of red gaps and edging of the same shade implies shoulder straps for all officer and non-officer ranks:

  • without edging or gaps;
  • with edging, but without gaps;
  • with one or two gaps and edging.

In addition, the shoulder straps of the Ministry of Defense include olive cadet ones (with yellow edging and the letter K).

  • blue shoulder straps with blue edging or gaps (everyday, depending on rank);
  • white with edging or gaps (ceremonial shirt);
  • golden with blue gaps or edging (ceremonial jacket);
  • blue with blue edging or gaps (for office uniforms).

It is also possible to use both rectangular shoulder straps with a bevel and hexagonal products.

The shoulder straps of the airborne troops are in many ways identical to the paraphernalia of the Aerospace Forces (in the case where the shoulder straps look the same, the difference is made by the lapel near the button) with a few exceptions. Thus, the main color of everyday airborne shoulder straps is olive, and office accessories are painted in a dark green shade.

Shoulder straps of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (police) are rectangular products with one rounded side. For police officers, shoulder straps with red edging and similar clearances are intended. Accessories come in the following shades:

  • gray-blue (for casual uniform);
  • light blue (for a dress shirt);
  • white (for a dress shirt; externally the same as the shoulder straps of the MO, with the exception of the buttonhole);
  • golden (for a ceremonial jacket; also differs from the shoulder straps of the MO in the buttonhole).

In addition, gray-blue shoulder straps with yellow gaps, red edging and the letter K are intended for cadets of police schools.

For employees of such law enforcement agencies as the FSB and FSO, shoulder straps are made in the following colors:

  • olive with cornflower blue (hereinafter) gaps and edging (everyday);
  • blue-black (casual);
  • blue (ceremonial shirt);
  • white (ceremonial shirt);
  • golden (ceremonial ones on the jacket).

In addition, shoulder straps for the presidential regiment are made in the same color scheme; they are decorated with the letters PP.

The Internal Troops of the Russian Federation have shoulder straps with maroon (crimson) gaps and edging. Accessories in olive, white and golden colors are intended for such military personnel.

Employees of the Russian Prosecutor's Office are the owners of blue shoulder straps with green gaps and edging.

The shoulder straps of servicemen of the Russian Navy deserve a separate discussion. The reason for this is that sailors do not have a single color for the edging of their shoulder straps due to the fact that in the fleet several structures pay their debt to their homeland at once. Thus, there are the following types of Navy shoulder straps:

For military service at all times, there was a certain set of laws aimed at increasing efficiency in combat operations, guard duty, as well as order in interpersonal relationships. This set of laws is combined into a charter, which is the main legislative document for a soldier. But since all issues of military service cannot be concentrated in a common document, there is a division of regulations by type. In particular, in the modern army there are two of them:

Military rank in the modern army is a complex hierarchical relationship between military personnel, enshrined in law and military regulations. A certain rank must be assigned to absolutely any military serviceman, regardless of his education, type of activity or length of service. Even a young man who was drafted into the ranks of the RF Armed Forces is listed as a private. This gradation makes it possible to distribute the rights and responsibilities of the entire contingent to ensure controllability in the case of real

Reforms in the army have significantly affected the comfort of serving. Despite this, almost all parts honor the customs and traditions inherited from older generations. To achieve maximum efficiency in the military activities of the army, it is necessary to develop a set of rules that would cover all areas, allowing each soldier to determine his rights and powers in each specific situation. This understanding was reached even under Peter I; it is not for nothing that he is considered the founder of the introduction of military regulations. Although, in fairness, it should be noted that the history of military regulations in tsarist Russia goes back to the 16th century, when, by order of Ivan the Terrible, the Boyar verdict was adopted

In Russian literature, there is a deeply erroneous opinion that shoulder straps as an element of a military uniform supposedly originate from mythical metal shoulder pads that protected a warrior’s shoulders from saber strikes. However, this is just a beautiful legend that does not have any serious basis. Shoulder straps, and one appeared on Russian military clothing only with the creation of a regular army by Tsar Peter I between 1683 and 1699 as a purely practical element of clothing.

Considering all the stages of the creation of the Russian armed forces, it is necessary to dive deeply into history, and although during the time of the principalities there is no talk of the Russian empire, and even less of a regular army, the emergence of such a concept as defense capability begins precisely from this era. In the 13th century, Rus' was represented by separate principalities. Each element of a military uniform has a specific purpose and does not appear on it by chance, but under the influence of certain conditions, including historical ones. We can say that each element of the form carries both a historical load and a utilitarian purpose. There is a widespread misconception that shoulder straps as an element of a military uniform come from knightly armor, or rather metal shoulder plates that protected a warrior’s shoulders from saber strikes. This is a misconception from year to year,

The time of multimillion-strong mass armies is coming to an end. Nowadays, the outcome of the battle is decided by relatively few professionals, and the level of training of the fighter and his equipment comes first. Despite the widespread use of electronics on the battlefield, its outcome, as before, is decided by people. The time when a fighter had an AK-47 at his disposal and was protected only by body armor of not the best quality and is not always gradually becoming history. Almost all advanced armies

The unloading vest, of course, is far from the only type of combat equipment, but today the situation has developed that a fighter, when purchasing equipment, chooses either a combat breastplate or a unloading vest. There can be no regimes in matters of state security. Sovereignty and integrity must remain at the highest level every minute of the year. To ensure reliable protection, the state is obliged to maintain a powerful army, ready at any moment to repel an attack from an external enemy. Military activity is a complex process that does not stop day or night. Even when the personnel seem to be resting, there are duty officers, guards, patrol officers,

Relationships in the army must be strictly regulated. This requirement arises from at least two considerations. The first is that the personnel is a quasi-group, organized according to some common characteristics. Psychologists say that if such a group is left to its own devices, conflicts in relationships will soon arise. The second statement is more significant. The army must not only be numerous, but also functional and controllable.

As long as the soldier has not retired to the reserve and remains on the list of unit personnel, he is guided by the general military regulations. Certain standards have also been developed for a serviceman in the event of his temporary stay outside the unit. But, as we know, the lack of control necessarily leads to violation of all rules, and the volume of these violations grows like an avalanche. Therefore, in any garrison, as a mandatory event, the organization of patrols is provided, which is carried out in places

We will have to start the story about the introduction of insignia in the Soviet army with some general questions. In addition, a short excursion into the history of the Russian state will be useful so as not to formulate empty references to the past. The shoulder straps themselves represent a kind of product that is worn on the shoulders to indicate a position or rank, as well as the type of military service and service affiliation. This is done in several ways: attaching strips, sprockets, making gaps, chevrons.

The shoulder straps of the Tsarist army of 1914 are rarely mentioned in feature films and historical books. Meanwhile, this is an interesting object of study in the imperial age, during the reign of Tsar Nicholas II, uniforms were an object of art. Before the outbreak of the First World War, the distinctive insignia of the Russian Army was significantly different from those used now. They were brighter and contained more information, but at the same time they did not have the functionality and were easily noticeable as in the field

Shoulder straps and ranks in the Russian army were created in order to clearly delineate responsibilities between military personnel. The higher the status, the more responsibility is assigned to the soldier to whom the rank is assigned. Shoulder straps play an identifying role, that is, they create a visual image of a military man, namely what position he holds, as well as his military rank. Shoulder straps and ranks in the army play a very important role, and for different troops they have different external

Shoulder straps are part of a serviceman's clothing, and the arrangement of stars on the shoulder straps is considered to be a sign of rank distinction between colleagues. However, it is very important to know at what distance the stars should be on this part of the uniform, since punctuality, discipline and strict adherence to instructions play a huge role in the army. A soldier's appearance must always be impeccable. The placement of stars on shoulder straps according to certain regulations also contributes to

A year earlier, in preparation for the 150th anniversary of military railway workers coming in 2001, the FSGV command decided to begin a comprehensive

Military clothing is the key to the high combat effectiveness of military forces. In Russia, the military uniform meets all the necessary requirements; it is comfortable, reliable and performs its main functions. A new military uniform in our country was released in 2015. Now every soldier of the military forces is equipped with it. Along with the new clothes, new rules for wearing them were issued, which must be followed by a soldier of any rank. Military uniforms are divided into three main types. Dress uniforms are used.

The modern Russian army has a complex hierarchical structure based on the subordination of lower levels to higher ones. Unconditional submission within the limits of the military regulations is defined by law, and violation of the order is punishable by a military court. In order to effectively carry out management activities, the hierarchical system is implemented by assigning each military personnel a certain military rank. Already at the very beginning of his conscription service, the young man receives the rank of private. Highest rank other than Supreme

Many articles, even from legally savvy specialists, are devoted to various ways to avoid military service. It is gratifying that the proportion of conscripts who are ready to cross the line of the law is quite small. Most guys not only realize the need to fulfill their civic duty, but also consider it their duty to spend a year in the army as a real soldier, who would be an excellent student in combat training, selflessly serve the Motherland, be in good standing with the officers and become the pride of his

The army, to one degree or another, affects every citizen, so, willy-nilly, people are aware of it. But the army is too general and abstract a concept, including tanks and foot wraps, nuclear weapons and stars on shoulder straps, and much more. In order to organize troops by type, establish a certain hierarchy and divide the territory of the state into controlled areas, there is a special term - the organizational structure of the armed forces of the Russian Federation. With his help we are today

For any state, the armed forces are the guarantor of its security and inviolability of territorial borders. In Russia, the army organizes its activities on the basis of certain regulatory documents, these are Federal laws, Government Decrees, Presidential Decrees, as well as local resolutions of executive authorities in the regions. Thanks to a unified legal system, it is possible to effectively manage a contingent of thousands, distributing common tasks and quickly resolving security issues.

The army is perhaps the largest institution that is considered to be regularly functioning. If we add to the contingent currently in service all those liable for military service, including those in the reserves, then more than half of all Russian citizens will be covered. Naturally, the armed forces will reach such a size only as a last resort, when military aggression from another state is inevitable, but even the existing military personnel, of whom there are hundreds of thousands, must be centralized

False shoulder straps, a derivative of false shoulder straps, are analogous to the shoulder straps on which stars are sewn. They differ from standard ones in that they are used in the field, since during military exercises or in a real combat situation it is necessary to act quickly and swiftly, and during such actions the stars may simply fall off the shoulder straps. Despite the fact that every military man has spare stars, no one needs extra losses. Besides

Since the founding of this type of troops, the uniform of the Airborne Forces was no different from the clothing of the Red Army Air Force or special purpose air battalions. The collar of the overalls was equipped with blue buttonholes, where insignia were sewn. Already in the forties, military uniforms

Special forces uniforms Classification of special forces units Existing units

Traditional disclaimer. This article in no way claims to be complete or the ultimate truth. The topic of Russian equipment in the nineties is huge and complex, and my modest work is just a superficial educational program, an introduction to the topic. The USSR approached its collapse with very primitive equipment, which looked poor even against the backdrop of the then simple equipment of the NATO armies. However, in the nineties, despite the severe economic crisis and lack of money, progress in the field of military equipment,
