Making cast lace in decoupage with your own hands. Homemade cast lace for decoupage

Most often, novice decoupage masters decide to make an imitation of Sicilian lace using the bottle decoration as an example. Usually they do it from champagne bottles, resulting in an elegant decoration. So you can decorate the needle beds, coasters for shoes and the sides of the tray - in a word, anything.

What is Sicilian lace in decoupage

Imagine some object that is decorated with a lace pattern. Take the same bottle - outwardly dense, clay, elegant. And the middle of it is decorated with lace trim. And this finish seemed to be frozen in clay, stone, etc., too.

The box, decorated using decoupage technique using Sicilian lace, will perfectly fit into a classic interior.

Let's look at the example of decorating a bottle. To work, you will need the bottle itself, PVA glue, acrylic white primer paint, mother-of-pearl and bronze, as well as lilac acrylic paint. You also need bituminous wax, acrylic lacquer, lace, sponges, brushes.

It is recommended to purchase lace with a convex pattern, the quality is preferable - something made of cotton. In the process, lace usually has to be trimmed. Sometimes old knitted napkins are used, whatever, the main thing is that they are convex.

Graceful lace: bottle decoupage

You don't have to devote your life to drawing or any other kind of creativity to learn how to make such beauty. The technique is not easy, but even a beginner in decoupage can make such a beautiful bottle with his own hands. By the way, there is also lace paper on sale, which is also actively used in decoration.

Thanks to decoupage, you can beautifully decorate a bottle for alcohol.

Decoupage lace step by step:

  • The bottle needs to be washed, degreased, primed with white paint, dried;
  • Lace needs to be cut to size, it all depends on where you place them;
  • Then, very thickly, you need to grease with PVA glue the place where the lace will be;
  • Take the lace and, without fear, dip them into a container with PVA, soak well;
  • Take out the lace, put the excess PVA back into the jar;
  • The lace is glued to the bottle, carefully straightened, and where they bulge, you need to make undercuts - in a word, tightly, without wrinkles, the lace should lie on the bottle;
  • Then, until the next day, you leave time for drying, everything should dry thoroughly.

After that, there is a thorough painting, especially try to paint over the holes in the lace. Then you need to take a sponge or an old thick brush, and remove excess paint in those very holes. The paint should not clog the relief of the lace.

Making volume: lace decoupage master class

At this stage, your task is to make the lace voluminous. To do this, bituminous wax or transparent wax is applied to the lace, whatever you find. The wax will stick to the lace, as if lifting it up. But if you do not have wax, then you can paint over again. If the bottle is lilac, paint over the lace with white, if bronze - with a darker color.

Any item decorated using decoupage technique with lace is able to give the interior comfort and coziness.

And after that, the lace is also painted with mother-of-pearl acrylic paint, which, when dried, will give the perfect shade. You can also paint with a sponge.

And then you need to paint the bottle in the color of lace. Lace should merge with the bottle, be one - then this is the Sicilian technique. It will create the feeling that either wood carving, or even a stone product. The imitation is excellent. On the appropriate furniture, such accessories will look incredibly beautiful.

Combined decor in decoupage: cast lace

And you can, after all, combine decoupage using lace and gluing a picture of a napkin. The cast lace technique is good in itself - this is how you can make an elegant frame for a candle or pencil holder. But if you want to add an image as well, the product will be even more interesting.

When decoupage, you can combine materials, for example, lace with napkins.

Decoupage bottles with lace and napkins:

  • The glass bottle is cleaned, washed, wiped with alcohol;
  • White or transparent primer is applied to the bottle with a foam sponge;
  • Next comes a layer of white paint (if the primer was transparent), dry;
  • Glue the lace on the PVA glue, the lace braid will emphasize the borders of the image;
  • Elements are cut out of the braid that fit the plot;
  • Cover the surface of the bottle with volumetric elements with acrylic white paint;
  • With an acrylic white outline, you need to put dots at the base of the bottle, on its neck;
  • The top of the bottle is painted with acrylic paint of the desired color;
  • To muffle a bright color, white acrylic paint is applied over it;
  • Then stratify the napkin, separate the paint layer - tear out a suitable fragment from it;
  • With a fan brush and acrylic varnish, the image is glued to the bottle.

An image can also be glued to the other side of the bottle, not necessarily the same. And sometimes the wrong side is simply covered with acrylic paint. It's a matter of taste.

Ideas for decoupage caskets with lace

You can make a very interesting box in the old style, which will be decorated with lace on the sides. On the lid, they usually do not decorate with lace, an accent picture is glued there. Framing with lace should be such that it simultaneously merges with the surface, creates the impression of a single whole, and is quite voluminous.

You can make an original decoupage of the box using a pasted photograph in combination with lace.

The main thing here is to choose the right lace - convex, with an interesting pattern. You can imitate Venetian lace, or you can give it the role of an addition that sets off the main idea. The principle of operation is the same as with the bottle. The main thing is that the lace does not bulge, it is glued evenly and neatly.

Decoupage of furniture with lace (video)

Lace decoupage requires special effort, it is a long and painstaking work. But it is unlikely that anyone will even guess how a product of this kind was made - it seems that it is either casting, or carving, or maybe an engraving for a box or a needle case. A chic gift and just an elegant accessory will turn out.

Creative mood to you!

Thirdly, with the help of decoupage with lace, you can give a chic look to even the most boring or ugly things. Admit it, you obviously have a couple of glass jars in your kitchen. Grab them quickly and get to work!

So, for work you may need:

  • Jars or vases with a smooth surface
  • Lace in any form
  • Brush
  • Glue for decoupage
  • Paint (optional)

If you want to give your container a color, then use paint. Apply it in a thick layer so that it does not shine through. Black or white paint will look great. However, transparent glass with lace also looks good.

The next point is the main one. Using a brush and decoupage glue, glue the lace to the surface of your container. If desired, you can apply another layer on top to secure the lace better.

That's all, if necessary, cut off excess lace that extends beyond the edges, but in most cases you can do without it.

As you can see, decoupage with lace opens up a vast scope for creativity. You can take thin strips of lace, you can cut any shape out of them.

You can use the resulting item as a vase, candlestick, storage container, or anything, it all depends on the shape and size.

To enhance the effect, you can cover the finished item with spray paint, then a feeling of lace ceramics will be created.

Decoration of bottles in the technique of Sicilian Lace. Master class from rudbekiya

Decoration of bottles in the technique of Sicilian Lace

So, we need for work: a bottle, an old eyeglass case, PVA glue, white acrylic paint primer, mother-of-pearl and bronze acrylic paint, lilac, bituminous wax, lace, acrylic varnish, brushes, sponges. since in the last post (Sicilian lace. Almost) several works were exhibited, and I didn’t take all the photos, I’ll tell you from the photos that I have. But these stages are the same, so you will understand everything ..

we buy lace with a convex pattern, the quality is similar to cotton. In the process of work, we will trim them, depending on what we need. you can use old knitted napkins or something else, but so that the pattern is convex.

but such non-convex laces will not suit us. similar in quality to synthetics - also not necessary.

1. wash a bottle or something else, degrease, prime with white paint, dry well.
2. cut the lace to our size, depending on where we place them
3. very thickly grease with PVA glue the place where we will have lace (this is a eyeglass case)

4. we take the laces themselves (measured according to our size) and directly dip them into a jar of PVA, soak well.
5. take out the lace, remove the excess PVA with your hand into a jar of PVA (part of the lace is visible)

6. and glue it on the bottle, carefully straighten it. where the laces bulge, because they are straight, we make undercuts. in a word, we achieve that they fit snugly, without wrinkles and seams on the bottle.
7. after that, leave to dry until the next day - everything should dry well

8. Now we paint everything very carefully. especially all the holes are lace.
9. after we have painted everything, we take a dry old fairly thick brush or sponge and begin to remove excess paint in the holes of the lace - I directly hit the lace pattern from top to bottom (but without fanaticism). we do this so that the paint does not clog the relief of the lace throughout its entire length.

and this is for the bronze bottle

10. The next step is to make the lace more voluminous. for this, we must apply bituminous wax to the lace (or you can use transparent wax, but I don’t have it). wax sticks to the lace and, as it were, lifts it. if there is no wax at all, then we paint the lace again with paint (stage 9). photo 11 for the bronze bottle. and for lilac, I did not use wax, but immediately painted the lace with white paint (photo 12). we dry everything

and that's what happened, we kind of highlighted the lace. it became more voluminous (photo 12, 13)

I also really liked this bottle (and you can see how it will turn out if the lace is not white, but dark)

now we paint the lace with mother-of-pearl acrylic paint. when it dried, it gave a silvery-reddish tint. I dyed with a sponge. and on the bottle itself, too, walked a little

Lace from putty for decoupage. Author mk Larisa Tyutyunnik

Dear decoupage masters, in my master class I want to introduce you to the material,

with which you can create lace, accessories, various elegant volumetric elements.

Unfortunately, the reason for getting to know this material was sad,

ordered on the Internet, a large wooden box for dot painting,

arrived in a sorry state.

There were cracks on it, because I didn’t know about acrylic putty yet.

The problem was how to restore a wooden box.

I turned to a professional for help

who the next day brought me putty and said,

that this material perfectly restores metal, wood, plastic.

The box was saved.

How did the idea of using putty in decoupage come about?

I already did Decoupage and I needed to make a gift to my niece. Something unusual in black and white. There was an idea to make a casket in the Baroque style using metal imitation technique. The search for volumetric elements in the Baroque style began. Plastic elements were too large and rough, stencils did not give the volume characteristic of the Baroque, Baroque confectionery silicone molds came to the rescue. Subsequently, another problem arose, from what material to make volumetric elements. Various combinations of materials were tested - salt dough, acrylic putty with PVA glue and alabaster in various proportions, cold porcelain. Unfortunately, not a single material made it possible to create durable, elegant, regular-shaped elements. And then I remembered about the car putty, with the help of which volumetric elements were created. You can see the end result of my search in my blog "Baroque Casket" on the website.

Detailed information about the material.

Name:

Universal (or Finishing) Two-component Automotive Putty

consists of two elements of the base (in the photo a large metal can can have a mass of 0.6 to 3 kg)

and a hardener (in the photo a tube, it can be from 20 to 100g in weight).

Compound:

base (polyester resin).

During the manufacturing process, a smell appears, which quickly disappears.

There is no smell in finished products. The hardener is dibenzoyl peroxide.

These two components create plastic.

Material properties

1. Excellent adhesion to metal, wood, plastic.

2. Fully compatible with acrylic.

3. Holds its shape very well. Shrinkage is practically absent.

4. The most amazing property of this material is the combination of strength and ductility. He is not fragile.

5. Well processed.

Work safety

Car putty belongs to the 3rd hazard class (moderately dangerous).

Work in a ventilated area;

Irritating to eyes and skin;

Work with gloves;

If accidentally swallowed, seek medical attention

The main component of putty is polyester (polyester),

widely used in the manufacture of many household products (fabrics, dishes, bathtubs, windows).

Tools for the job

1. Mastekhin

2. Silicone molds (moulds)

3. Plastic plate

5. Scissors

6. Garbage bag

7. Board for work (any)

8. Rag.

9. Plastic teaspoon

10. Stiff brush (I use a brush for coloring hair)

From all of the above, I want to dwell on silicone molds (molds).

What is it and where to buy them.

At work I use Confectionery silicone molds

(with their help create decorations for cakes) and icing mats.

You can buy silicone molds (molds) in online stores for confectioners.

1.LACE

An icing mat is used to create lace.

In a plastic plate with a teaspoon, we collect the base of the putty (about 5g)

and squeeze out 20 match heads of hardener.

We mix everything thoroughly.

In this case, the mass will become warm.

Then, using a palette knife, quickly apply the resulting mass

a thin layer on a silicone mat,

carefully lubricating all the recesses.

In places of small openwork, we apply a little more putty than on roses.

The drying process of putty is very fast and after 5-7 minutes

we can separate lace from silicone.

The putty will harden in 25-30 minutes.

We take off the lace. Lay putty down, and silicone up.

We hold the lace and slowly remove the silicone.

It turns out here is such a lace. The edge must be removed.

The edge is removed with a needle. We make punctures along the edge,

after the putty has hardened, the unnecessary edge is easily removed.

After cleaning the edges, we process the wrong side.

The workplace when working with sandpaper is as follows.

1. Wet rag

2. Garbage bag

3. Plank

We lay the lace down on the plank with openwork, hold the lace with one hand, and skin it with the other.

We collect dust from sandpaper and from the board in a bag, lace and a table, wipe it with a damp cloth.

DO NOT BLOW DUST, the product after processing is washed with water.

After processing the wrong side, be sure to go through the skin on the front side of the lace,

this contributes to a better coloration of the surface.

Cut the edge with scissors.

This is what the end result looks like.

The lace is very elegant 2-3 mm thick

ACCESSORIES.

Forms (moldings) for fittings are presented at the beginning of the presentation.

Making them is very easy.

We put putty on the silicone mold and after 7 minutes remove the silicone.

Then we clean the voids with a stiff brush.

They contain the thinnest layer of putty that is very easy to remove,

what has not been removed is cleaned with a needle.

Also, accessories can be made using stamps. The process is exactly the same as with lace.

Plastic medallion on top, putty on the bottom.

You can make convex and concave parts.

We attach double-sided tape to the inner wall of the mug and glue the form on it.

We lay the putty in the form and get a convex part.
