What not to take to Thailand. We are going to Thailand: what things to take with us and what to leave at home

There are no problems in Thailand: almost all issues can be solved, almost everything you need to buy. But in order not to waste the precious time of your vacation looking for a tube of toothpaste and make your vacation more comfortable and carefree, it is advisable to prepare for the trip. How to do it right, what to look for before leaving and what to take with you to Thailand so as not to take anything extra? Let's try to answer briefly and specifically to these and other questions related to the preparation for the rest.

What documents to take for a trip to Thailand:

  • international passport
  • air tickets
  • insurance policy
  • rights if you are going to rent a car or motorbike

It is not necessary to take a Russian passport with you on a trip, but it can be useful in case of loss of a passport for quick identification.

Before departure you need:

  • make a photocopy of a foreign and Russian passport, as well as an insurance policy
  • put a scan of the Russian and foreign passports in your email - this will be needed if you lose both documents and their copies
  • check the validity of the passport. For citizens of the Russian Federation vacationing in Thailand for up to 30 days, the passport simply must be valid during the entire duration of the trip, so that you can not only enter, but also leave the country without obstacles. If you are going to rest for more than a month on a tourist visa - the passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the end date of the trip

During rest:

  • always carry copies of your passport and insurance policy with you; in almost any circumstances, copies of documents are enough. It is better to keep the originals in a safe place - in a safe in the room or at the hotel reception
  • do not keep documents together with money, put them in different bags or envelopes, etc. It is better to put documents and insurance in a transparent file, this can help their safety. Documents are usually rarely of interest to thieves, they are mainly looking for money and valuables, and documents are taken along the way
  • do not keep documents and money in your luggage on the road - only with you, in a secure pocket or fanny pack with a lock
Seems like they didn't forget anything :)

What currency, what money to take to Thailand?

  • dollars
    It is necessary to take banknotes of a new sample, preferably after 1996, in perfect condition. Old dollars may not be accepted for exchange. Take 100 dollar bills with you. They are changed at a more favorable rate, in Thailand this is officially allowed. There is no need for small bills. It is better to exchange currency in the city, and not at railway stations and airports; in the city, as a rule, the exchange rate is higher. You can bring foreign currency into Thailand without limiting the amount. Completing a customs declaration is mandatory if the imported amount exceeds 10,000 US dollars.
  • Thai baht
    It is problematic to buy Thai baht in Moscow. By and large, only one firm “49 Currencies” sells baht to individuals, tel. by prior order. In terms of money, sometimes it’s profitable, sometimes it’s not - you need to call, find out, count. You can import baht into Thailand in an amount not exceeding the equivalent of $ 2,000 per person; export - if the equivalent of the amount is not more than $ 500.
  • Russian rubles
    Russian rubles are not needed in Thailand, you can freely exchange rubles for baht only in Pattaya, in other places it is problematic or impossible. But, it is necessary to have a certain amount in rubles upon returning to your homeland in order to get home from the airport.

What is more profitable if you are going to Pattaya - rubles or dollars depends on the exchange rate, which is constantly changing, but more often it is more profitable to carry dollars. In addition, even in Pattaya, “ruble” exchangers are not found everywhere, especially with a good exchange rate, you need to look for them, what you don’t always want to do; dollars are easily changed in any exchanger.

How much money to take to Thailand?

When buying a tour, money is needed for food, excursions and souvenirs. About 500 baht per day is enough for food - breakfast costs 100-150 baht, for lunch and dinner in an ordinary cafe, 200 baht should be enough.

The cost of one-day excursions ranges from 500 to about 2500 baht. The cost of a massage session is from 100 to 500 baht. Therefore, if you, for example, eat for 10 days and take about three excursions, in fact, every other day, and also take a massage every other day, then it’s enough: 500*10+2500*3+500*3=14000 baht.

If you take 20,000 baht per person out of money, then it will be enough for fruits and gifts, while you will feel quite comfortable. But, of course, this is if you are not going to go to super-expensive fashionable restaurants, buy “branded” things and precious stones.

If you are going or planning an independent trip, then everything needs to be considered more carefully and specifically - the road, hotels and other expenses. In this case - all costs are very individual and depend on personal needs and requirements for the level of comfort.

How to carry money with you and where to store it?

For security reasons, if you are traveling alone, divide the money into several parts. If you are traveling as a family, keep a small amount of money with each family member. Try to take multiple sources of money with you (cash and cards) and don't keep all your sources of money together.

Options:

  • cash + payment card
    Cash dollars ($200-300) - for urgent needs after arrival; payment card - principal amount;

  • cash + two or more payment cards
    Cash dollars ($200-300) - for urgent needs after arrival. On the first card, you can keep only a small amount necessary, in order to pay with it in stores, etc., if you are going to make purchases. If you lose it, you won't lose too much.
    The second card should hold fixed assets, it is intended only for transferring money to the first card. You need to keep the second card in a secure place, to use the Internet from your room or other place to transfer so that no outsider sees access to passwords, etc.

  • only cash in dollars or in baht (thai currency)

Before the trip:

  • write down the phone numbers of your bank so that in case of loss of the card or other questions, you can call there
  • be sure to inform the bank that you are going to another country so that they “open” Thailand and other countries you need.
    If this is not done, the bank will block your card at the first attempt to withdraw cash, and you will not be able to use your card until you return to Russia
  • ask the bank if you can unblock the card without a personal presence by phone call and what you need to do to do this
  • activate the "mobile bank" and "SMS-balance" service so that you can receive reports on transactions on your card and, if necessary, transfer funds from a bank account to a card or from one card to another

What payment cards are accepted in Thailand?

Everywhere cards "MasterCard" and "VISA" are accepted for payment. For each cash withdrawal, a small amount (150 baht - 2014) and conversion costs are deducted.
Given the likelihood of imposing sanctions against Russia in 2014, it is difficult to be absolutely sure that it is your bank that will not stop being served by MasterCard and VISA, and you will not suddenly be left without money in another country, so it makes sense to consider an alternative option - purchase of a Chinese payment card "China Union Pay".

The China Union Pay card is unlimited, opening an account is free of charge, issuing a card and annual maintenance costs 300 rubles (250 service + 50 registration). Residents of the Far East and Irkutsk can apply for a card at the branches of MTS-Bank, tel. 8 800 250-0-520; residents of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Pyatigorsk, Stavropol - in Eurofinance Mosnarbank and branches, general reference tel. 8-800-2008-600.

Perhaps, when withdrawing cash in Thailand, "China Union Pay" is slightly less profitable than "MasterCard" and "VISA", but the fact that sanctions are not at all terrible for her today is for sure.
In Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries, the China Union Pay card is accepted at all banks and ATMs, as well as other cards.

Banks and ATMs in Thailand.

Banks are open on weekdays from about 8.30 to 15.30. Currency exchange offices have a sign "EXCHANG" and are open from about 8.30 to 20.00 hours. ATMs work around the clock, and there are almost all resort areas, large stores and just on the street.

What clothes to take to Thailand?

Clothing in Thailand must be taken only from natural materials, cotton or linen, preferably light in color and in a minimum amount. Do not take things from synthetics - in synthetic things you can get a heat stroke.

Approximate list of clothes to bring:

  • necessarily a headdress from the sun - a scarf, panama hat, hat, baseball cap, preferably with a visor
  • 2 - 3 T-shirts, including one light T-shirt or cotton shirt with long sleeves
  • 2 - 3 shorts
  • for women -1 summer sundress, dress, off-the-shoulder is better
  • 2 - 3 sets of underwear
  • pajamas / nightgown, what you will sleep in
  • 1 pair of summer shoes without heels, preferably in a sporty style - so that it is convenient to climb, for example, to a viewing platform, uphill
  • beach flip flops
  • 1 - 2 swimsuits (for women) or 1 - 2 swimming trunks (for men)
  • 1 light but warm jacket / jumper, windbreaker, and even warm socks if you are going to the north of the country (Chiang Mai, Pai, etc.)

This is the optimal set, you do not need to take a lot of clothes and other things to Thailand, shoes, evening dresses, jewelry - all this, most likely, will not be needed.

What medicines to take to Thailand?

In Thailand, all simple medicines can be bought at pharmacies without a prescription. The quality of drugs is good, many are cheaper than in Russia. Sellers often suggest what is better to buy if they understand what you are suffering from. This is the whole difficulty, it is not always possible to explain what exactly you need, what hurts, especially if you do not speak English or Thai - therefore, it is better to always have first aid at hand.

You need to take with you:

  • anti-cold remedy (such as Theraflu or others)
  • anti-allergic agent (such as Telfast or Zirtek)
  • remedy for indigestion (Loperamide, Phtalazol)
  • a remedy for motion sickness and nausea (such as Dramina, Avia-Sea)
  • headache remedy (analgin, citramon)
  • antiseptics, solution and ointment (hydrogen peroxide, iodine, potassium permanganate)
  • antiseptic for the eyes (Albucid, 2-4% aqueous solution of boric acid
  • wound healing agent (such as Methyluracil, or Propolis, tincture and ointment of calendula)
  • sunburn remedy (Panthenol, spray)
  • antipruritic agent (such as Fenistil-gel)
  • mezim, activated carbon
  • heartburn remedy (like Rennie)
  • bandage, bactericidal adhesive plaster
  • thermometer
  • other medicines you need

Prior to departure, a preliminary consultation with a doctor is required, whether you can use these particular drugs, if not, what can be replaced. If you use medicines containing narcotic or psychotropic substances, do not forget to take a doctor's prescription with prescribed drugs with you to Thailand, since their import and use without a prescription may be prohibited in the country.

Should I take food, cigarettes, alcohol with me?

Of the products in the stores, there is everything except: smoked normal sausage, sprat, loose tea (in many places only bags). Cheese - is expensive, is more common in small packages, such as "viola". Therefore, you can take a little something from your favorite products, if necessary for you.

The exception is the case when you eat with a small child - it is better to take the usual baby food.

Separately, for those who smoke, you can carry 2 blocks of cigarettes, cigarettes in Thailand are more expensive than in Russia and of a different quality.
Alcoholic drinks, even vodka, are available in Thailand. There is no champagne, but there are wines that resemble sparkling wine. If you want to take alcohol with you, you can carry 1 liter per person in your luggage.

You also need to take hygienic and cosmetic items:

  • toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, comb, washcloth
  • wet wipes to cool off if it's hot
  • razor and shaving cream (for men)
  • sunscreen spray or cream (protection level 30-50)
  • aloe vera after sun gel

Useful little things that might come in handy:

  • Waterproof Aqualung bag (hermetic cover) and airtight bag
    In a waterproof bag you can put your phone, payment card, copies of documents, money when sailing or swimming in the sea, so as not to leave it unattended on the beach. Instead of a regular suitcase, for safety reasons, it is recommended to purchase a sealed waterproof bag or a dry bag for an existing bag
  • A small kettle and a large unbreakable mug, preferably with a lid, a small knife.
    You can eat anywhere in Thailand. In hotel rooms, as a rule, there is a kettle, glasses, but not everywhere. Having your own small kettle for tea and a personal mug can help out many times, for example, on a train, in a nature reserve, in a hotel.
  • small flashlight
    On many islands, in reserves, electricity is supplied by the hour from generators. A flashlight can be very useful in the evenings.
  • Mosquito repellent
    - repellent for personal use and room (Mosquitol, fumigator, mosquito plates).
  • Camera and tablet computer
    It is better not to take a laptop or netbook - extra weight and extra worries (safety, etc.). Where there is Internet, there are Internet cafes everywhere, but where there is no Internet, a laptop is not even needed.
  • Shoulder bag
    It is very convenient to carry money, documents in it, but, unfortunately, usually waist bags are for men. If you are uncomfortable using such a bag, then this is a recommendation for men.
  • Favorite book, crosswords, player - so that there is something to do on the plane or in the evening.
  • A fountain pen and a small clean notebook for notes - it will come in handy already on the plane to fill out an immigration card.
  • Thread with a needle, buttons, pins
  • Shuttle trunk
    In winter, autumn, spring, we recommend leaving warm clothes in a storage room, usually at the airport, at the railway station, sometimes at the hotel. Payment is made for the number of seats, regardless of whether you deposit a handbag or a suitcase that is taller than you are.
    Therefore, you can take a large bag with you to Thailand, which will fit all unnecessary things. The cost of storing one place is from 30 to 100 baht per day, depending on where things are left. They don’t steal in the storage rooms, but you can’t leave food and it’s not advisable to leave expensive things made from natural materials (for example, a mink coat).
  • small padlock
    One is for luggage security. You can also bring another small padlock for your room or safe - some hotels have padlocks on the lockers, you can use your own.

Do not forget useful phone numbers:

  • Police: 123; 1644 (English)
  • Tourist Police (gen. tel.): 1155

How to call from Thailand to Russia?

Roaming in Thailand is very expensive. Upon arrival at the airport, it is recommended to buy a Thai SIM card, it is much cheaper to call Russia with it. If you do not want to disable the Russian number and your phone is not designed for 2 SIM cards, you can buy yourself another, the cheapest, almost disposable (or whatever you like) telephone before leaving. The most popular Thai operators are "DTAC" (Happy), "1-2-Call" (AIS) and "True Move".
How to call from Thailand to Russia:
Depending on the operator, dial 004, 005 or 009, the country code (for Russia - 7) and the phone number. We usually use "True Move".
Call with "True Move": 00600 -7- (***)***-**-** (phone number with operator code without 8), for example -
00600-7-903-222-55-11. The price of a minute of conversation is from 3 rubles (2014).

On this, your preparation for a trip to Thailand can be completed, you can pack your suitcase, or rather a small bag! And, of course, there is always a choice:

first option
- You can not prepare for the trip and take nothing at all except money and documents. Of course, you will not be lost, but you will experience a lot of minor inconveniences;

second option
- You can prepare for the trip, collect everything according to the list and travel light and with pleasure;

third option
- You can prepare "very well" for the trip and take with you anything you want, even your favorite TV - remember, you still have to wear it.

From your decision what to take with you to Thailand, your comfort during the trip largely depends. We wish you an easy rest, not burdened with unnecessary worries and suitcases!

An important question is what cosmetics you need to take with you to Thailand. When choosing cosmetics, especially remember that in Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi and other islands and provinces of Thailand there is a very strong sun and you can easily and imperceptibly burn out. Therefore, be sure to take with you:

  1. Sunscreen is better to buy at home. To the question: what kind of sunscreen is better to take to Thailand, tourists with experience answer:

- if you have fair skin, then with a protection factor of +50;

- if dark skin, then with a protection factor of +30.

In Thai stores, you can buy aloe after-sun cream - it moisturizes the skin well after sunbathing and is inexpensive.

  1. It is better to take sunglasses with you, because the sun is very strong and it is difficult to be outside without glasses.
  2. Wet wipes.
  3. Toothpaste and brush.
  4. Manicure set.
  5. Shaving accessories for men.
  6. Waterproof mascara, moisturizing lipstick or lip gloss, toner and face cream.
  7. Cotton pads and sticks.

Shampoos, soaps, gels, towels will be offered to you in hotels, so there is no need to take them with you.

A rather important question is about medicines, because during the holidays you may need them. Let's look at what medicines to take to Thailand on vacation.

Medications that should be in the first aid kit

  • citramon, ibuprom, paracetamol - you can use it for headaches, migraines, to reduce fever;
  • activated carbon, atoxil - in case of poisoning;
  • loperamide is a remedy for diarrhea, and mezim forte will improve your digestion;
  • sofradex drops will help with inflammation of the ears, nose, eyes;
  • chlorhexidine, iodine are excellent antiseptics;
  • claritin or suprastin - will help with allergies that may arise from tasting exotic fruits;
  • coldrex (lavomax or groprinosin) - excellent antiviral drugs;
  • zovirax - if you have herpes;
  • sumamed is a broad-spectrum antibiotic;
  • plaster, cotton wool, electronic thermometer.

Perhaps you are constantly taking certain medications, then you need to take them with you. If you are traveling with a child, we advise you to take a first aid kit to Thailand, after consulting with a pediatrician. Of course, there are pharmacies where you can buy the necessary drugs. If you become seriously ill, it is better to take advantage of medical insurance and contact, rather than self-medicate.

So, we have considered what medicines to take with us to Thailand. In no case do not take medicines that have ephedrine and pseudoephedrine in their composition, as they are usually included in cough medicines.

RememberA: Ephedrine and pseudoephedrine are illegal in Thailand and you can get jail time for using them.

  • a laptop or better a small tablet;
  • phone with charger;
  • camera to take great photos or videos.

Among other little things you should take with you on vacation to Thailand:

  • Medical insurance is better to arrange, because the prices for medical services are quite high. If some insured event occurs, then you can simply get qualified medical care and save your money.
  • Mosquito repellant may be needed if your hotel or home is in the middle of a forest.
  • Pen and notepad. The pen will help you with the preparation of documents upon arrival.
  • Books and a tablet can come in handy if you like to read or play games on an airplane flight or on the beach.
  • A small backpack will be convenient during excursions and bike rides.
  • A beach bag may be needed for various little things.
  • An inflatable pillow is a great help on an airplane.
  • A selfie stick will help you capture the amazing moments of your vacation.

When you pack your suitcase, you have a question: what things you should not take with you on vacation in Thailand.

We offer you a list of things , which you should not take with you on vacation to Thailand:

  • Jewelry.
  • Warm clothes - you probably won't need them. You can take one thin wool jumper and jeans.
  • Crockery - if necessary, you can buy it in stores, or it is provided in a rented house.
  • Bed linen, because hotels and rentals have it.
  • A large number of cosmetics and hygiene products. Seven Eleven, Tesco and other stores have a large selection of these products at great prices (in Russia they are more expensive).
  • A large number of books.

So, in this article we told you:

  • what clothes to take on vacation in Thailand;
  • how much money and in what currency is it better to take for a trip to Thailand;
  • what medicines to take with you on this trip;
  • what not to take to thailand.

So the long-awaited vacation has come, and you are going to visit Thailand for the first time. I want to take new outfits, and a bunch of cosmetics, and a lot of other things. We will try to help you decide what to take with you to Thailand? Take the essentials. The less, the better, but let's not forget the main thing. Let's start with documents. First of all, prepare: a passport and its photocopy, medical insurance, an air ticket (printout) and a plastic bank card (there are many ATMs and they are almost everywhere), a printout of a return ticket, and for a taxi driver who will take you from the airport to the hotel - a printout of the reservation. Take some cash (dollars or euros). For documents, take a small bag that is worn on the stomach. Convenient and safe.

What to take with you to Thailand from medicines? Be sure to take medications that you take constantly, an antihistamine, activated charcoal, iodine, Biseptol, a patch, Panthenol, Aspirin or Fervex, an upset stomach medicine (Linex) and pain medication (Nurofen), as well as a bandage.

Thailand is a sunny country and we Europeans need to protect our skin from sunburn. To do this, take along a high-protection sunscreen, as well as sunglasses, which, by the way, can be bought on the spot very inexpensively.

Now consider what to take with you to Thailand from clothes. In hot climates, things made from natural materials are appropriate. Several T-shirts, cotton T-shirts, shorts, breeches, skirts. Be sure to take a natural shirt with long sleeves. It will come in handy if you get burned. You definitely need to take a swimsuit and underwear, you are unlikely to buy something that suits you on the spot. Leave warm clothes at home, you can take only a light sweater for the evening.

What shoes to take? You can sneakers (you will fly in them and you can put them on, you have an excursion to the mountainous regions), low-heeled sandals or sandals, beach slippers will also come in handy. To visit Thai temples, take sandals with closed heels. Do not forget that when visiting such establishments, the skirt or trousers should be long, and the shirt should also be long-sleeved. Try to take light-colored clothes so that you are not so hot.

What to take with you to Thailand from cosmetics? Take waterproof mascara, facial toner, wet wipes, antiperspirant deodorant, cotton pads and buds. Do not forget a toothbrush and paste, a manicure set and, for men, shaving accessories. Towel, soap and shower gels are optional. They are always available in hotels, so it makes no sense to carry them with you.

What to take with you to Thailand from office equipment? A camera, laptop, phone will come in handy, just don't forget the cords and power supplies for them. It is better to take a SIM card for the phone on the spot. You can take a cord to connect laptops and because there are often power surges in Thailand. A small one might come in handy too.

What to take to Thailand from the rain? But nothing ... Raincoats cost a penny and you can buy them on the spot, and in such hot weather, clothes dry instantly. Feel free to leave umbrellas at home and do not load your luggage with them.

But what about the presence of insects? What to take with you to Thailand to protect yourself from them? Take "Mosquitol", suddenly you want to visit the jungle, and without this tool it will be hard.

Do not forget a baseball cap or cap on your head, as panama hats, hats and bandanas can fly into the sea when walking on a boat. Minimum clothing - maximum comfort. You must follow this. Try to pack things in a light backpack.

In general, what to take to Thailand, everyone decides for himself, and we just give good advice so that you enjoy the trip, come home rested, tanned and happy. Have a nice trip to the mysterious country of Thailand!

The most necessary thing that you need to collect first of all is documents, you can do without unnecessary sundresses, but not without them, so it’s better to immediately put them in a small folder so as not to forget anything. The required list of documents for any tourist may look like this: a passport and a foreign passport, a driver's license - many tourists prefer to rent vehicles, so you need an international driving license, you will also need bank cards so as not to take a lot of cash and plane tickets. Thailand is a hot country, where there are practically no strong rains and cold days, so you don’t need to take warm clothes, such as windbreakers, pants, sneakers, you may only need it if you go to the gym, and for long walks on foot , it is better to take sneakers, they will take up less space in the suitcase. You need to take a little clothes, only a few sets of familiar clothes that will be convenient and comfortable, it is quite possible to do without high-heeled shoes and evening dresses. Many girls take such outfits in such a way that they will wear them in a restaurant or in the evening, most tourists will never need them, so this outfit will help you notice a light sundress and sandals, they are also suitable for going to the beach and city walks. I recommend taking light T-shirts, T-shirts, shorts, a swimsuit, sandals or flat-soled slippers and a hat, if you forget something, you can always buy it on vacation, besides, this way you can replenish your wardrobe with new things. You don’t need to take a lot of cosmetics either, most of the products you definitely won’t need, especially decorative cosmetics, it’s very hot in Thailand, so makeup may simply not stay on your face from such a temperature, and you will have to constantly correct it so that this does not happen, it’s better take the necessary set of care products. Personal hygiene products take up almost a quarter of the space in the bag, especially if you also take a few towels, there is a huge range of such products in Thailand, so it makes no sense to bring everything from home, it’s better to buy it all upon arrival at the resort. Some tourists may need a laptop on vacation, but even the most compact option weighs a lot and takes up a lot of space, so if you can do without this technology, it's better to leave it at home, so you will focus more on relaxing and not surfing the Internet. If you take a phone or a camera, then immediately put chargers and an adapter for an outlet, since the connectors in many hotels may not always match your devices. Do not forget medicines, in this country they are a bit difficult to get, due to the difference in names and the complexity of the concept of language, take cold remedies, headaches, first aid medicines from home, especially for young mothers, children often fall and get wounded, and it is difficult to do without an antiseptic, bandages and a band-aid on vacation.

So, here is a small but almost exhaustive list what tourists need to remember take with you on a holiday trip to Thailand:

1. Full sets of travel documents

  • Tourist voucher - issued by a travel agency (when buying a tour on the Internet, it can be printed out independently) usually in three copies: the first copy will need to be given to the host guide before boarding the transfer bus, the second - at the hotel reception upon check-in, the third copy remains with the tourist, in walking around the city, if necessary, may well replace the carrying of the original passport.
  • Flight tickets (or receipts from electronic tickets). Original paper tickets (on airline letterhead), if issued before the trip by the agency, must be taken to the airport with you. Regardless of whether electronic registration has been completed, boarding in the case of an electronic ticket is carried out without its mandatory presentation at the check-in counter (according to passport data), however, take your ticket receipt with you in any case: firstly, in order to avoid misunderstandings when boarding, in secondly, in order not to get confused in the return flight number when filling out a migration card when entering Thailand, thirdly, if you want to visit a Duty Free store in Bangkok or Pattaya, purchases there are possible only upon presentation of a ticket or ticket receipt.
  • Travel insurance for every traveler. We hope you will never need it on vacation in Thailand, but, firstly, its registration is a prerequisite when buying a tour, and secondly, treatment in Thailand is one of the most expensive in the world, just in case, have insurance with you all the time.
  • Passports and documents for children. Surprisingly, cases of forgetting the main identity document abroad are not uncommon. It is also important not to confuse the passport of gr. Russian Federation and a foreign passport, if the first one is left at home (see what is not necessary to take to Thailand).
  • Visa. If you are a citizen of a country for which a visa is required to enter the Kingdom of Thailand or you are a citizen of the Russian Federation, whose duration of stay in Thailand is planned for more than the allowed 30 days, do not forget to check the availability of a visa (it is better to put them in the corresponding tourist passports).

2. Copies of documents

It is very easy to protect yourself from possible unpleasant situations by making photocopies of the passports of all tourists, copies of vouchers and insurance, and carry such copies with you instead of the originals while walking around the city or on excursions. It is best to keep the original passports in the room safe or in the safe at the reception.

3. Medicines, thermometer, tonometer (individually)

Depending on the needs of the tourist in certain extreme situations that may arise on vacation (and a vacation in Thailand due to equatorial weather all year round can be safely equated with extreme), form yourself a first aid kit. In Pattaya, of course, medicines are sold (at least in the same stores at the LIN-LIN and DRUGSTORE hotel), but we still advise you to take familiar and proven medicines with you, because. here the assortment is somewhat different, in addition, the names are written in Thai (at best, in English) language. According to my own observations, you need to have at least with you:

  • adhesive plaster. Wear it always and everywhere. Due to the climate in Thailand, even a small cut can take several days to heal, and insects in the jungle are very susceptible to bleeding wounds. A bandage will also not be superfluous in a first aid kit for a tourist;
  • remedies for diarrhea/diarrhea. A little poisoning from an unfamiliar food or a long stay under an unusually aggressive sun - and long, repeated visits to the toilet for a tourist can ruin several days of his vacation. So it is better to take care of fixing, normalizing, cleansing agents in advance (for example, loperamide / imodium, activated charcoal, smecta). The same applies to laxatives (although in Thailand, tourists are usually not susceptible to such an ailment);
  • healing agents. Solcoseryl or Rescuer. Especially if the rest is at least a little connected with sports.
  • painkiller. Something like Eferalgan, Tempalgin, etc. And do not forget about the medicine that helps with toothache, headache (citramone, for example) and other types of ailments common to every tourist;
  • allergy remedies. Unfamiliar plants, fruits, smells can cause some allergic reactions even in those who are not susceptible to this disease at home;
  • antipyretic. A cold is not a frequent phenomenon on vacation in Thailand, but it is very unpleasant. Especially true for;
  • heartburn remedies. Every second tourist at least once experienced discomfort associated with heartburn, so as not to spoil himself for at least one evening - a lifesaver brought "just in case" in the form of Rennie, Maalox or Almagel will be a real salvation;
  • means for lowering/increasing pressure. Here it makes no sense to describe the need, unfortunately, for a huge number of people in these drugs, just do not forget to take the right amount;
  • sedatives and heart remedies. Just in case;
  • thermometer, tonometer and other honey. devices - according to individual needs.

Do not worry that such a first aid kit will take up a lot of space or weigh a lot: from our own experience - we put everything you need in a plastic bag, the total weight is not more than 150 grams. without a tonometer, takes up a minimum of space. Let it be better that you never need a first-aid kit during your vacation in Thailand, but you must take it!

4. Money and plastic cards

What is preferable to carry - only the tourist decides. There are a lot of currency exchange points in Pattaya, as well as throughout Thailand (there are several of them even in the hotel area). There are no problems with ATMs either. To make the right decision, you need to consider:

  • cash on the road takes up more space, the difference in the rate of buying currency and then exchanging it for Thai baht is quite significant, many exchangers in Thailand already work directly with rubles at a fairly favorable rate. We do not recommend changing large amounts in hotels (at the reception) - the rate is far from the most profitable. In addition, if you are carrying cash in dollars or euros, please note that the exchange rate for small banknotes is significantly lower than for large ones;
  • bank card, often a much more convenient option: only on the territory of the Ambassador City hotel there are 6 ATMs, 4 more in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. It is easy to get money at an ATM, the conversion of Thai baht into the currency of the card will happen automatically, the commission is 100-200 baht per operation (). In addition, many tour operators have the opportunity to pay for excursions to accept bank cards, many shops also accept cards of major payment systems (VISA, MASTERCARD).

So, the best option for most tourists would be to take a small amount of cash with them on vacation to Thailand (change a small amount at the airport or on the way to Pattaya to buy water, snacks, etc.), in addition, in some hotels (in in particular, Ambassador City Jomtien) upon arrival, you must pay $100 deposit. It is best to make this deposit in dollars, at the time of departure, if all bills are paid by the guest, the deposit is returned, even with the same bill in which it was made. The rest of the money can be taken on your plastic cards (remembering to notify your bank in advance about a trip abroad in order to avoid blocking the card by the monitoring service after the operation at an ATM and a store).

5. Cigarettes

6. Sunglasses and sunscreen

7. Iron and clothespins

If you want to save on laundry services, feel free to put these items with you. Why and why - in the material "Laundry services and self-washing at the Ambassador City Hotel".

8. Clock

It is not worth the risk of carrying a phone or an expensive watch with you everywhere. Finding out the time on the beach will help either the cheapest watch (plastic, for 30-70 rubles), the loss of which will not cause a depressive state for several hours or days, or shockproof, moisture and bulletproof branded watches, which do not care about small life situations, including drowning in sea water.

9. Electronics and attributes

Spare flash drives, chargers, adapters for sockets, a tee, carrying with a thin wire are mandatory attributes for computer, photo and other gadget maniacs. All this will come in handy in the hotel, with the help of a standard flash drive you can watch your movie on the TV panel in the hotel room.

10. Spare swimming trunks and swimwear

Spare swimming trunks and swimsuits are a very useful item. No kidding. Especially on excursions. It is a dubious pleasure to sit in wet swimming trunks or in a wet swimsuit on the beach or on a boat during an excursion.
