Can a pregnant woman use it? Modern nutritional requirements for pregnant women

Pregnancy is certainly one of the most beautiful moments in a woman’s life, but also one of the most responsible. Is it possible to fly on an airplane, what physical activity is acceptable during pregnancy, is it worth having sex? These questions interest almost all women who saw two coveted stripes on the test...

Well, it’s time to figure out: what really categorically cannot be done during pregnancy, and what will only benefit the baby and the expectant mother?

Alcohol and smoking - no compromises!

No matter how much your friends or acquaintances from the forums convince you that a couple of glasses of red wine or beer are harmless, doctors around the world are unanimous: even small doses of alcohol can harm the child and the expectant mother - cause serious defects intrauterine development, premature and often difficult childbirth, provoke a miscarriage. The "degree" is especially toxic early stages pregnancy - on and until the end of everything, when a lot happens important process organogenesis, during which the embryo is just being formed, the “laying in” of all the internal organs and systems of the child occurs. It is undesirable to drink alcohol during conception, and for both future parents! As for smoking, scientists have long proven that babies whose mothers smoked while pregnant are born with a ready dependence on nicotine, they have a weakened immune system and often underdeveloped lungs. They are also more likely than other children to suffer from asthma and other ailments of the pulmonary system. Therefore, if you find out that you are having a baby, stop smoking immediately! In general, this must be done at the stage of pregnancy planning - 2-3 months before giving up contraception.

Orienteering

Women are often interested in whether it is possible to play sports while expecting a child? In this matter, as often happens, it is important golden mean. Nowadays, no one expects Olympic records from you, so you shouldn’t work hard and sweat for several hours a day in the gym. But it’s also impossible to completely deprive yourself of physical activity and lead a sedentary lifestyle - such “inaction” can lead to excess weight gain, the development of edema, problems with blood vessels, increased blood pressure. Similar complications negatively affect the course of pregnancy and fetal development.

So which one physical activity choose? There are many options: yoga, fitness, gymnastics for pregnant women, swimming (or water aerobics), walking at a measured pace fresh air- such loads help improve lung function, maintain good tone of the muscles of the legs and back, prevent the appearance of hemorrhoids and varicose veins veins, allow you to fight venous stagnation in the pelvic area. Very useful for expectant mother and children, the now popular Nordic walking - Nordic walking with tracking or ski poles. During such training, blood flow, the condition of blood vessels and the heart improve, and the body is saturated with oxygen. The baby also receives more oxygen and nutrients.

But from cycling It’s better to refuse - they are considered an extreme sport for pregnant women. Alpine skiing, snowboarding, rollerblading, martial arts- in a word, all sports are too active and dangerous. In any case, in order not to harm the fetus, you need to consult with your gynecologist about what sports activity to choose during pregnancy. The doctor must exclude conditions in which exercise stress contraindicated or significantly limited.

Sex and taboo

Veto your sex life During this period, only very serious medical conditions can occur.

For example, if there is a threat of miscarriage (especially in the first trimester), if you are expecting twins (multiple pregnancies are usually more difficult than singleton ones), you have had a miscarriage or premature birth, the previous pregnancy was threatening miscarriage, or tests revealed some kind of infection. In addition, the doctor may prescribe temporary abstinence for you if the cervix is not tightly closed, full (the placenta completely covers the internal cervix), or marginal presentation placenta (the lower edge of the placenta is at the level of the edge internal pharynx). If placenta previa is detected, regular medical supervision, since there is a danger of placental abruption and uterine bleeding. Also, depending on the location of the placenta, the method of delivery will be determined. Thus, with marginal or lateral presentation, the possibility of natural birth, and in case of complete presentation, a cesarean section is prescribed.

If the pregnancy proceeds without complications and you feel great, there are no contraindications for making love. Moreover, sex at this point in life is very important! It allows spouses to experience completely new sensations, promotes even greater emotional rapprochement between the couple, and has a beneficial effect on the woman’s nervous system, which is very important for the normal development of the child. Of course, during such a period, one should not forget about caution: still choose less daring positions than before, or try alternative forms of intimacy.

But in last weeks before childbirth, sex is even indicated for therapeutic purposes: prostaglandins contained in sperm prepare the cervix for childbirth and help avoid ruptures.

Adventurers

There is an opinion that air travel and sudden climate change do not in the best possible way affect pregnancy. Indeed, after the seventh month of pregnancy, it is not recommended to fly on an airplane - the threat of premature birth is strong. As for flights in general, everything is very individual - much depends on the course of pregnancy and the woman’s health. If the mother does not complain about anything and everything is fine with her unborn baby, then there are no special contraindications for travel. If a pregnant woman's body is weakened, she suffers high blood pressure or does she have big risk miscarriage, then in this case it is better to refuse to travel by air.

As for visiting exotic corners of the world or places where it is too hot, we must remember that when entering many Asian, African and Latin American countries, it is necessary to be vaccinated against a number of infections, and this is a very big threat to the unborn baby. It is also not known how your body will react to sudden climate change and high temperatures, so doctors recommend refraining from such extremes and choosing more traditional tourism. But no matter how you feel, before you go traveling, you must definitely visit the gynecologist leading your pregnancy.

Forbidden food

Speaking of prohibitions interesting situation, it is worth mentioning the selection of products. So, when compiling a list of acceptable foods for this period, you should give up very fatty, salty, fried, spicy foods and smoked foods - they “overload” the liver and gall bladder, increase the load on the kidneys, and can cause heartburn and exacerbation of gastritis. Foods that contain a lot of chemical additives, especially dyes and flavor enhancers (nitrites, monosodium glutamate) and seasonings: chips, all kinds of crackers, ready-made sauces, crab sticks, food, have a bad effect on the body of pregnant women. instant cooking, soda, many sweets. Don't go heavy on some seafood (tuna, swordfish, shrimp), chocolate, strawberries and exotic fruits - they can cause allergies. For the same reason, refrain from frequently consuming vegetables and fruits with orange pigment (citruses, carrots, pumpkin, dried apricots), but do not completely exclude them from your diet - they contain many useful vitamins and microelements. By the way, it is believed that foods such as red fish and meat are dangerous during pregnancy - this is not true. On the contrary: proteins, fatty acid Omega-3 and folic acid contained in such food are simply necessary for pregnant women. In addition, meat serves as an excellent preventive measure. iron deficiency anemia which often occurs during pregnancy. It is best if your doctor chooses a diet based on test data and medical history.

Not all teas are created equal

During pregnancy, some women encounter problems such as edema. As a result, wanting to expel excess fluid from the body, expectant mothers begin to drink various diuretic teas, herbal teas or infusions of berries and herbs. This should absolutely not be done without consulting a doctor, because many drinks, due to their composition, are medicinal, as they contain chemical components that have different medicinal properties. Therefore, they may not have the best effect on the body of a pregnant woman and the condition of the fetus. Thus, drinks based on sage, parsley, ginseng, valerian, and chamomile often increase the tone of the uterus and increase blood pressure.

For the same reasons, it is better to give up coffee. Scientists have confirmed the fact that daily consumption of this drink (more than 3 cups per day) increases the risk of miscarriage by 2 times, especially in the first 12 weeks! Coffee also increases blood pressure, causes insomnia, and removes from the body beneficial microelements and vitamins necessary for the normal development of a child. Both freshly brewed and instant drinks have a detrimental effect. In addition, doctors strongly advise that during pregnancy you should exclude other liquids containing caffeine from your diet - cola, energy drinks, strong green and black teas.

But mint, ginger, white tea and rosehip infusions are extremely useful. Mint soothes, relieves nausea, ginger has antibacterial properties and is indispensable during colds and ARVI, rose hips are rich in vitamins C, B, PP and iron, and white tea does not contain caffeine, normalizes blood pressure, promotes the elasticity of blood vessels and strengthens tooth enamel, which is very important while carrying the baby.

From the realm of myths

With the appearance of two lines on the test, any woman (even with two or three higher educations) begins to attach undue importance to signs and beliefs. Meanwhile, many of them only ruin the life of the expectant mother. Here are some of them:

Myth. During pregnancy, you should not cut or dye your hair.

In fact: During pregnancy, the hair structure often changes: it becomes more brittle and lifeless. That is why, in order to look good, you need to get your hair cut regularly or at least trim the ends. As for coloring, modern ammonia-free paints are quite safe for both the expectant mother and the baby. A competent hairdresser will probably first test the dye on one strand and determine how the hair perceives a particular color.

Where did it come from: Since biblical times, hair has been considered a symbol of life (remember tragic story Samson and Delilah). Apparently, this is why our ancestors were so afraid of cutting their hair during pregnancy.

Myth. You should not tell anyone about your pregnancy until your pregnancy becomes obvious.

In fact: This is entirely your personal matter. Some people share their joy literally from the first days, others hide their pregnancy almost until the birth.

Where did it come from: Our ancestors were very afraid of the evil eye. And the method of “silencing” happiness was considered one of the most effective in the fight against the evil eye. Believing or not in this sign is your own business. However, it has nothing to do with medicine.

Myth. During pregnancy, you should not raise your arms up, otherwise the umbilical cord will tie in a knot and the baby will suffocate in the womb.

In fact: medical statistics the connection between any of the mother’s body movements and the umbilical cord has not been proven: nothing will happen to the child if you hang out the laundry!

Where did it come from: Most absurd superstitions are based on basic ignorance of physiology. There is no other way to explain this myth.

Unfortunately, neither the antenatal clinic nor any such article says that women who are pregnant or planning a pregnancy should not take vitamin A. It is toxic to the baby. I'm pregnant with my second child and only recently found out about it.

The article is informative, but narrow, i.e. You have to get acquainted with terms that appear for the first time on other pages, although their essence could be revealed here and even illustrated. And regarding the last myth, that’s it: medical statistics have not proven the connection between any of the mother’s body movements and the umbilical cord! I doubt that anyone has seriously dealt with this issue and tried to prove the safety or benefits of certain movements, but this also happens in other areas of human activity. In our time, “medicine” has long been able to act not alone, but by drawing knowledge and experience from other areas. There is a relationship between all thoughts, movements, and everyone has known this for a long time, and many even feel and listen to themselves, the child, and the world around them.

Sorry - lice. Medical issues. Pregnancy and childbirth. What can pregnant women use? All shampoos say not to use during pregnancy. Tell me - maybe someone knows, otherwise I’m already going crazy with this...

I would treat it with baby shampoo and repeat it in a week. It’s impossible to write on a lot of things, but what can you do? And scratch, scratch, scratch, each with his own fine-toothed comb.

While expecting a baby, the expectant mother faces many prohibitions regarding pregnancy. Pregnancy is divided into trimesters; the “dos” and “nots” for each of the three trimesters may vary slightly. In this article we will look at the most controversial taboos during pregnancy.

What not to do during pregnancy. Is it possible to have sex during pregnancy?

Doctors agree: at the beginning of the first trimester, while the embryo is just implanting into the wall of the uterus, it is better to postpone sexual activity. However, the statement that you cannot have sex during pregnancy is incorrect. In general, during pregnancy, a process that is not burdened by pathologies, intimate relationships not contraindicated. Of course, you shouldn’t be too active; sexual intercourse should not bring pain or discomfort to the expectant mother.

What kind of sex should you not have during pregnancy with a threat, for example, with uterine hypertonicity? Alas, none. In addition to the mechanical effect of friction, it is worth remembering that when aroused, the uterus tenses, and during orgasm it contracts. Therefore, any form of sex and self-pleasure with an already tense uterus should be prohibited.

In the third trimester, you should also be more careful with sex. Some doctors believe that sex is last trimester benefits by preparing birth canal women for the birth of a baby. Others say that intimacy in the later stages can provoke labor.

Is it possible to dye hair or straighten hair using special compounds during pregnancy?

There is no logical confirmation of the superstition that an expectant mother should not cut her hair, pregnancy and baby this procedure no harm at all. But the harm from dyeing hair during pregnancy is quite real. Most dyes have an aggressive composition, the components of which, when the mixture is applied to the scalp, penetrate into the blood of a pregnant woman. Also, products for permanent hair coloring often have caustic properties. unpleasant odor, which is not beneficial for a pregnant woman to inhale. Most hair straightening products contain formaldehyde, the vapors of which are inhaled by the pregnant woman during the procedure.

A pregnant woman’s body can react unpredictably even to the usual dyeing products: the final result can be disastrous, and an allergic reaction is possible.

Because of this, it is not recommended to dye your hair during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester. If a pregnant woman cannot refuse to dye her hair, then it is better to choose less aggressive ones. coloring agents and use dyeing techniques in which the composition is not applied to the roots, the same as ombre. Herbal henna and basma without chemical additives are an ideal option for pregnant women.

Before any painting, you must do an allergy test.

What not to do during pregnancy. How does self-medication harm pregnant women?

Application medicines without first consulting a doctor during pregnancy can be extremely dangerous. Conventional medications may have harmful influence on the development of pregnancy, provoke an allergic reaction.

There is an opinion that you should not use only medications during pregnancy without a doctor’s prescription. traditional medicine. It's wrong Alternative medicine may harm the fetus no less. For example, not everyone knows which herbs are prohibited during pregnancy. But the list of the latter is very impressive, containing dozens of items.

In the first trimester, if possible, you should not resort to medications at all; in subsequent months, the doctor should evaluate the “risk for the child - benefit for the mother” ratio.

Why can't you get vaccinated during pregnancy?

It is highly undesirable for pregnant women to get vaccinated. Moreover, after taking some vaccines, you are not allowed to become pregnant for a certain period of time. If a woman plans to protect developing baby from severe consequences diseases such as rubella, it is worth doing this in advance.

Expectant mothers are vaccinated only in emergency situations, using vaccines with killed cultures of pathogens or ready-made antibodies.

Why you shouldn't drink alcohol during pregnancy

Previously, there was an opinion that it was possible, even necessary, for pregnant women to regularly drink a little high-quality red wine. Like, it increases hemoglobin. There is some truth in this statement. Indeed, recent studies prove that periodic consumption of high-quality alcohol in small quantities has a beneficial effect on health. But pregnant women should not drink alcohol, as it can cause negative impact on developing fetus. The laying of the organs of the unborn child occurs in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Many expectant mothers allowed themselves to drink alcohol before the onset of delayed menstruation, signaling pregnancy. Don’t worry, during these few weeks the fetus is not yet fed with substances from the mother’s body, so drinking a glass of wine will not harm it in any way.

What not to do during pregnancy. Smoking during pregnancy: you should not quit smoking

Smoking during pregnancy is also shrouded in myths. There is a point of view that you should not quit smoking during pregnancy. They say that heavy smokers quit during pregnancy bad habit is more harmful than smoking itself. This is not true.

Yes, doctors do not recommend quitting too abruptly, as the body will experience stress. But you still need to part with cigarettes as soon as possible. Due to smoking, the fetus develops oxygen starvation, which entails mental retardation, prematurity, low birth weight and other health problems.

Why You shouldn't sleep on your back during pregnancy

In the first trimester, the expectant mother is free to sleep in any comfortable position. As the uterus enlarges, sleeping on the stomach becomes impossible. Why do doctors say that you can’t sleep on your back during pregnancy? The reason for the prohibition is the increased size of the pregnant uterus, which, when the woman is lying on her back, can compress the inferior vena cava and impair blood flow, putting pressure on the ureters.

The result of resting in this position in late pregnancy can be exacerbation of hemorrhoids, back pain, decreased blood pressure with resulting headaches and dizziness.

For pregnant women with a noticeably rounded tummy, the optimal sleeping position will be on the left side.

Crossing your legs over your legs during pregnancy. P why not

It was forbidden for our ancestors to cross legs during pregnancy. They believed that sitting cross-legged by a pregnant woman could lead to crooked legs or even squint in the newborn baby. Of course, this has nothing to do with the truth. However, this position is really undesirable for everyone, especially for expectant mothers. The fact is that while sitting cross-legged, there is a load on the large uterus. The vein in the popliteal fossa is also compressed, which is not beneficial given the already increased risk of varicose veins in pregnant women. Blood circulation in the pelvic organs worsens. This is fraught with oxygen starvation of the baby.

The load on the spine increases. With a growing belly, the musculoskeletal system of a pregnant woman already has a hard time; sitting in the wrong position further aggravates the situation. Pain in the pubic area is another indicator that you should not cross your legs during the weeks of pregnancy close to childbirth. Because of this position, the baby's head is often positioned incorrectly, which causes pain.

Why pregnant women should not raise their hands up

Doctors have found a reason why you should not raise your arms during pregnancy. No, this has nothing to do with the risk of the baby being entangled in the umbilical cord.

When you raise your arms up, the body feels discomfort, the uterus tenses. Therefore, in the second half of pregnancy you cannot raise your arms up. Early pregnancy this will not do much harm, but in the later stages it can cause premature labor.

Raising your arms suddenly can make a pregnant woman feel dizzy, and this is unsafe.
And if you stay in this position for a long time, blood circulation in the uterus worsens.

What not to do during pregnancy. How maternal nervous tension harms pregnancy

Wishing expectant mothers not to be nervous is not a banal “on-duty” phrase. You should not be nervous during pregnancy; stress can harm the baby.
Scientists have identified a connection between nervousness in pregnant women and the development of problems with the cardiovascular and nervous systems in children; male children are especially susceptible to this.

It has also been proven through an experiment that if a mother is regularly nervous during pregnancy, then the risk that her child will have sleep problems in the first year of life increases by 23 percent. Accordingly, all family members living with the child will have problems with sleep. And a mother’s chronic lack of sleep negatively affects lactation.

Conclusion

The expectant mother has double responsibility for her health and the safe development of her baby during pregnancy. It is extremely important to know what you can and cannot do while waiting for the birth of your child.

For many girls, everything related to pregnancy and childbirth causes a state of panic. And when the time comes to think about offspring, fear prevents you from focusing on the main thing - the birth of a child, and forces you to devote all your thoughts to possible negative aspects both processes. There is another extreme - the belief that nature will do everything itself, which means there is nothing to worry about at all. Both points of view are wrong. Pregnancy and childbirth are natural processes. But a woman must prepare for them mentally and physically, have enough knowledge of how this happens, and do everything in her power for the successful pregnancy and birth of a healthy baby.

Read in this article

The need for this is caused not only by the financial capabilities of the family. Here is the most important health both parents, their preparedness for the birth of a child, the creation favorable conditions for this. The process should begin 2-3 months before the expected fertilization. It includes:

  • Quitting smoking and alcohol;
  • Normalization of nutrition with the obligatory consumption of large amounts of vitamins, microelements, fiber;
  • Healthy physical activity with frequent exposure to fresh air. This part of the preparation is especially useful for a woman, because she is the one who will bear the child and give birth, which require endurance and energy expenditure;
  • Avoiding stress.

Actually, there is nothing complicated in these requirements, similar image It would be good for everyone to lead a constant life.

Which doctors should you visit?

Expectant parents should definitely be examined by doctors. A woman needs to visit doctors of the following specialties:

  • Gynecologist. It is good that this is a specialist who will then monitor the entire pregnancy. He should know about previous diseases, childbirth, abortion. The gynecologist will need the results of tests for flora, cytology, viral infections (HIV, hepatitis, syphilis), PCR studies for sexually transmitted infections, cytomegalovirus, as well as information about the body’s susceptibility to rubella;
  • Dentist. Before pregnancy, you need to get rid of infections in the oral cavity, caries;
  • Cardiologist;
  • Otorhinolaryngologist;
  • Allergist;
  • Endocrinologist.

In addition to the tests mentioned, it is necessary to do more research:

  • Ultrasound of the reproductive organs and mammary glands;
  • Blood and urine tests (general and biochemical);
  • Hormone levels;
  • Ultrasound of the thyroid gland.

If this is not the first attempt for a woman to become pregnant, the specialist may consider it necessary to prescribe:

  • Colposcopy of the cervix;
  • Hysteroscopy;
  • Endometrial biopsy.

Reception oral contraceptives, as well as contraception using an IUD should be interrupted 2-3 months before conception. If the family has genetic diseases or one of the future parents has been exposed to radiation, it is worth visiting an appropriate specialist.

In order for conception to occur exactly when the future parents want it, it is necessary to calculate the most favorable days for it. Ovulation occurs around 11-16, if you count from the first day of menstruation.

The most important things during pregnancy

There are many nuances in this period that you should know so that everything goes harmoniously and safely for the woman and the unborn baby. Correct behavior will help avoid many potential problems.

Tests

A woman will be able to understand that she is pregnant based on her own well-being. But this will be a little later, and until the first signs appear, a pregnancy test will come to the rescue. Whatever it is, its functioning is based on detection in urine human chorionic gonadotropin a person who appears immediately after implantation of the embryo inside the uterus, that is, 7-10 days after conception. And if you do the test on the first day of the expected but not yet arrived menstruation, it will be informative. These devices come in several types:

  • Test strips. They are impregnated with a reagent, which, when immersed in morning urine, gives a result with an accuracy of 95% in 5-10 seconds. If another one appears next to the existing control line, the woman is pregnant;
  • Tablet. Able to indicate pregnancy if delayed by less than a week. A drop of morning urine is placed in the window provided for this purpose. After some time, the result is visible in the nearby rectangle;
  • Jet. Detects pregnancy with high accuracy at the earliest possible stage. The receiving tip of the device is placed under a stream of urine, and the result will be visible in a few minutes in the window provided for this purpose.

It happens that tests provide information that does not correspond to reality. The reason for this is violation of instructions or taking medications containing hCG.

How to determine the deadline

To track pregnancy, both the doctor and the expectant mother need to know its duration. This is the basis for prescribing research, monitoring the development of the fetus, and the possibility of identifying pathology. Thanks to knowing the due date, it is easy to determine the date of the upcoming birth. There are several counting methods:

  • According to the day of ovulation. It occurs approximately in the middle of the cycle. If it is 28 days, then conception occurred 14 days after the start date of the last menstruation. You can also determine the day of ovulation by regularly measuring your basal temperature;
  • Using ultrasound. The size is clearly visible on the screen ovum, according to which the doctor will calculate the period. This method is most informative up to 24 weeks;
  • Examination of the uterus. The gynecologist will determine the period based on its size, starting from the 5th week, when the organ begins to enlarge;
  • At the first movement of the fetus. As a rule, this happens at 18-20 weeks, sometimes at 16. It’s a little late, but some inattentive women find out about pregnancy this way.

How to live with pregnancy

Lifestyle should be aimed at ensuring the normal development of the unborn child and wellness women. This does not mean that all pleasures become unavailable, but life expectant mother becomes more orderly:

  • It is necessary to monitor nutrition so that the fetus receives enough vitamins and microelements. You should forget about coffee, green tea, seafood, legumes for now, and reduce carbohydrates, which cause weight gain. But meat, fish, dairy products, vegetables, and fruits are not prohibited in the diet;
  • You must take vitamins as prescribed by your doctor. Folic acid is especially important. But vitamin A needs moderate doses, otherwise the child faces pathologies;
  • Rest and comfort are the main components of the daily routine. This also applies to clothes and underwear. Sleep should be at least 8 hours, mental, physical and emotional stress should be reduced. 1.5-hour walks in the fresh air and exercises to strengthen the spine, abdominal muscles, and perineum are important;
  • The use of transport should be limited due to possible shaking, which creates unwanted vibration;
  • Heavy lifting and shock household work, especially with the use of chemicals, are prohibited;
  • Alcohol and smoking are the enemies of pregnancy. Even infrequent use can cause deformities in a child;
  • Medicines and plants are taken only as prescribed by a doctor;
  • You should still take good care of yourself, but without using toxic cosmetics, acrylic and ammonia materials, solariums, or hardware methods. It is better to choose care and hygiene products that are specifically designed for pregnant women;
  • The breast is prepared for future feeding by washing with warm and cool water, air baths for 10 minutes 3 times a day;
  • During a normal pregnancy, vaginal sex is not prohibited. As the period increases, you just need to protect the growing belly from pressure on it.

Feeling unwell is not uncommon during different periods of pregnancy. Typical problems among women:

  • Toxicosis. It manifests itself from the beginning of pregnancy with nausea, vomiting, aversion to food and certain odors. By the 12th week, toxicosis passes, but even before this time you can alleviate its symptoms if you eat a piece of salty biscuit with sweetened weak tea in the morning, drink 1.5 liters of liquid per day, reduce portions and increase the number of meals to 6;
  • in the legs. The enlarging uterus compresses the vessels, so the blood supply to the muscles is disrupted. The body may lack calcium and potassium. Products containing these microelements, mini-exercises with squeezing and unclenching your toes will help;
  • Dizziness. They can arise from various reasons: stuffiness, cramped conditions, fatigue. You can cope with the problem by avoiding the conditions that create it;
  • Insomnia. It is caused by anxiety and changes in the body, which provoke the need to go to the toilet frequently, the inability to choose comfortable position. Sleeping at the same hours, drinking warm milk shortly before, and resting during the day will help;
  • . You can eliminate the problem if you drink a glass of water after waking up, and add it to it before meals. lemon juice, walk a lot, introduce prunes and dried apricots into your diet.

Childbirth: readiness No. 1

In the entire chain of childbirth, this is what women fear most. Childbirth is a serious challenge, but the vast majority of mothers successfully overcome it. In addition, specialists are always nearby, ready to help.

What to take to the maternity hospital

The necessary things and documents should be prepared in advance. Before giving birth, you need to take with you only those that are needed directly for the woman and the newborn. Everything else is collected and left for later; these things will be brought by a happy father later.
Documentation:

  • Exchange card;
  • Results of the latest tests for today;
  • Medical policy;
  • Birth certificate;
  • Agreement with the clinic (if concluded).

Things for childbirth and stay in the ward:

  • Spacious nightgown;
  • Socks, thin and thicker, but not wool;
  • Hygiene supplies (soap, comb, toothbrush and toothpaste, napkins, toilet paper);

How does childbirth go?

Healthy women give birth to a child in a natural way, that is, through the birth canal. The process, which is assisted by a midwife or doctor, is divided into 3 phases:

  • The first is counted from the beginning of regular contractions to full disclosure cervix by 4 cm. This is the longest part - 8-10 hours. Sometimes the process is stimulated with medications;
  • The second lasts 3-4 hours. The contractions intensify and become more frequent, the amniotic sac opens and the water breaks. The cervix dilates to 6-8 cm, and the fetus moves to the level of the pelvic floor;
  • The third is characterized by the opening of the uterine pharynx by 10-12 cm and lasts from 20 minutes to 2 hours. It moves into the main part of labor, although the activity of the process seems to weaken. But this is not so, it is after the cervix is fully dilated that the fetal head passes through the pelvic ring, and after 8-10 attempts by the mother the baby comes out. Sometimes, to make this part of the journey easier, the woman's perineum is cut.

During the first two phases, the woman is allowed to sit down and walk to stimulate labor. In some clinics, the process takes place with pain relief. The condition of the woman in labor is monitored by measuring blood pressure, temperature, and doing vaginal examinations.

After the baby is born and the pulsation in the umbilical cord stops, it is cut. The placenta leaves the uterus in 2-3 contractions, and the woman is given medications to prevent bleeding.

C-section

It should be prescribed according to indications, but sometimes it is done at the request of the woman. The planned operation is carried out as follows:

  • On the operating table, the woman is given an epidural or general anesthesia. An IV and a device for measuring pressure are placed, as well as a catheter for draining urine;
  • The woman’s belly is wiped with an antiseptic, the doctor dissects the abdominal wall and anterior uterus, removes the child, and cuts the umbilical cord. This takes 10-15 minutes;
  • The surgeon separates the placenta, examines the uterine cavity, and sutures the organ. Then sutures are placed on the abdominal wall, a bandage and ice are placed on top;
  • The woman is placed in intensive care for a day, where saline and antibiotics are administered.

After transfer to the ward, the stitches are processed every day, and the painkillers are stopped after 3-4 days.

  • A woman’s body recovers faster;
  • There is no need to waste time looking for suitable baby food, money to buy it, or bother with preparing and sterilizing bottles.
  • Usually the baby is put to the breast on the third day after birth, and before that the woman has to pump. It hurts, but it is necessary so that you can then feed for at least 6 months, and preferably up to a year. In this regard, new mothers are concerned about two problems:

    • Lack of milk;
    • Cracked nipples.

    The first one is solved frequent application baby to the breast, taking lactation-stimulating agents: infusion of anise seeds, grated carrots with sour cream. A woman will have to drink a lot of fluids and eat right to prevent the baby from developing gas.

    Cracked nipples need to be treated special creams and air baths. It is also necessary to learn how to properly breastfeed your baby so that he grasps the nipple along with the areola.

    Body after childbirth

    In this part, women suffer the most from their stomach. It is no longer as flat as before; during pregnancy, the muscles stretched and sagged slightly. But you don't have to put up with it. There are some measures you can take:

    • Change your diet. If you include oatmeal, rice, vegetables, fruits in your diet, and drink a lot of water, this will speed up metabolic processes. Belly fat will slowly but steadily begin to disappear. Do not forget that large amounts of fiber are harmful to the baby if he is breastfed. But fasting is unacceptable because milk will disappear. Therefore, in your zeal for harmony you need to know when to stop;
    • Restore muscle tone. Gentle exercises for the abdomen will help: abdominal breathing, tension during a walk, while doing household chores. You need to increase the load gradually; you can exercise intensively six months after giving birth, if it passed without complications.

    Postpartum discharge

    The uterus does not recover within a day after childbirth. This process lasts for some time, during which the woman develops lochia. At first they contain a lot of blood, then they gradually lighten and by the end of the 6-8th week after birth they become transparent or white.

    Menstruation can come in 1.5-2 months if the woman does not breastfeed. Lactation extends the period without menstruation to six months. But on average and with breastfeeding, they begin in the 4th month after birth, because by this time the baby has already been introduced to complementary foods and less breastfeeding.

    Sex after childbirth

    You will have to abstain from it for another 4-6 weeks if the birth was normal. The woman’s genital area must be fully restored, then sex will be a joy and will not cause pain and infection.
    After caesarean section or perineal ruptures will take 2 months to recover.

    During the first sexual intercourse, a woman may feel pain and discomfort. This is due to vaginal dryness, which can be corrected with a lubricant, or better yet, with a long prelude to intercourse. The tone of the walls is almost always reduced. But this problem can also be solved by training the vagina with Kegel exercises.

    What not to eat and drink during pregnancy - what foods and drinks are preferred for consumption by expectant mothers? In fact, there are practically no strict restrictions for pregnant women. You can eat everything, but some foods in moderate or minimal quantities. Let's start with what pregnant women shouldn't eat, or at least shouldn't abuse it, and for what specific reasons. ABOUT possible consequences We will also not forget to tell you about non-compliance with restrictions.

    1. Liver. Not only are the by-products very fatty, that is, this delicacy can simply make the expectant mother feel ill, but it also contains a high concentration of vitamin A, which can have a teratogenic effect on the fetus. Therefore, pregnant women should not eat liver, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy, when the baby’s organs are just forming, and the expectant mother herself has any manifestations of toxicosis, which may worsen due to liver consumption.
    However, this is not a product that pregnant women should absolutely not eat. Later, in the second and third trimester, liver can be consumed occasionally if the body tolerates it well.

    2. Sausages. There are two reasons why pregnant women should not eat sausages, sausages and small sausages. To change their mind about eating them, many people only need to carefully read the fine print on the product packaging and find out its composition. This is far from pure meat. High Quality. And in best case scenario pork lard with beef, generously seasoned with salt, colorings and flavorings to make it more appetizing. Such “meat” will not benefit the body. And the salt with which the sausage is stuffed is harmful for the expectant mother. Because due to an excess of salt, a woman retains fluid in her body. Externally, this manifests itself as swelling. And blood pressure rises, and this is already dangerous. We'll save the sausage for the holidays, for salads.

    3. Sweets. A pregnant woman should not eat them because chocolate, marmalade, cookies and similar treats are quickly digestible carbohydrates. All these products have a very high calorie content, but satiate the body and completely eliminate the feeling of hunger. short term. This forces a woman to eat sweets again and again. By the way, the same applies to super-calorie honey. It is, of course, useful, but in the amount of literally half a teaspoon. Our women love honey in sweets, for example, in baklava. And they gain weight very quickly during pregnancy due to their passion for sweets. Meanwhile, all these calories are deposited on the mother’s body and do not bring the slightest benefit to the unborn child. But it becomes more difficult for a pregnant woman to walk, tachycardia, shortness of breath, and pain in the back and lower back appear. And after giving birth with extra pounds It's very difficult to break up.

    4. Lightly salted tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. All this is a source of salt, about the dangers of consuming large quantities of which we have already written earlier.

    5. Alcohol. Adequate doctors always say that pregnant women should not drink alcohol at any time and in any quantity. Few expectant mothers have heard about FAS - fetal alcohol syndrome in the fetus. It occurs in most cases when taking a large amount of alcohol at once. As a result of such maternal libation, the child may not only develop developmental defects, but also mental retardation, as well as typical manifestations on the face, according to the type of genetic syndrome. And it is impossible to cure FAS, only prevent it by not drinking alcohol during pregnancy.

    Meanwhile, the consumption of small doses of alcohol by the mother is also potentially dangerous for the fetus. It can provoke premature birth, placental abruption, and low intelligence in the child.

    6. Tea and coffee. Many women consider these drinks unacceptable due to the caffeine they contain. But in reality, not everything is so scary. The level of caffeine contained in two cups of coffee is absolutely safe for an expectant mother. But 4 cups of coffee is already potentially dangerous. Pregnant women should not drink this much coffee.

    If a woman regularly takes such large amounts of caffeine, the baby may experience intrauterine growth retardation. Such children are born weak and low birth weight. But caffeine does not provoke premature birth and miscarriages.

    Tea also contains caffeine in large quantities, but tea has almost no effect on the body, does not have an invigorating effect, since it is almost not absorbed from this drink.

    Other foods, such as chocolate, contain caffeine insignificant amount. But some medicines contain a lot. For example, the headache remedy Citramon contains caffeine in high concentrations. Expectant mothers should not take it.

    7. Sweet carbonated drinks. They are high in calories and have zero nutritional value. Lots of preservatives, flavors and dyes in the composition. If you really want fruit flavors, drink natural juice.

    8. Narzan with high mineralization. Many of us consider mineral water to be beneficial for the body. This is true, but only if it is chosen and used correctly. Narzans differ not only in their taste, but also in their composition. Some of them contain a lot minerals, salts, and therefore should be consumed in minimal quantities and only according to medical indications, usually in sanatoriums. The temperature of narzan also plays a role in its digestibility.
    It’s just that it’s better to drink water with low mineralization. No more than 3 grams per liter (indicated on the label). This water will also help with heartburn.
    But salty narzans, for example, “Essentuki 17,” can provoke increased blood pressure and swelling.

    Every woman experiences joy, anxiety, doubts, fears and many other emotions when she learns about her new situation. Each woman perceives this news differently. Someone treats this as an illness, and throughout the entire period they behave accordingly, limit themselves in everything, try to follow all the doctor’s advice and, after reading books, “put themselves to bed” for a nine-month period. Some people continue to run around like a squirrel in a wheel, going to work, carrying heavy bags and rushing from one extreme to another.

    In fact, pregnancy is not a disease; of course, you will have to behave more carefully and attentively, you will need to give up many habits, but this is not a death sentence to forbid yourself everything.

    Bring me something, I don’t know what!

    With the onset of pregnancy, women's appetite changes dramatically. This can manifest itself not only in an acute desire for everything salty or sour, but also, for example, in a completely original combinations and whims: tea with cucumbers or honey with sausage. Many people will wrinkle their nose at this, but taste preferences during pregnancy are much more bizarre. Everyone known fact that during pregnancy a woman may experience a feeling of disgust for her favorite foods, or, on the contrary, she may enjoy eating something that she has never eaten before. Naturally, food is of great importance, because now the expectant mother should carefully choose her diet, which affects the development of her unborn baby!

    In some books about pregnancy they write that the expectant mother can only eat what is good for her baby, that is, everything lean and dairy. And then you are overcome by melancholy: how can you give up something sweet, for example? How to replace your favorite foods with cereals and yoghurts? However, not everything is as bad as it might seem at first glance. Moreover, a piece of chocolate certainly won’t make you feel bad. The main thing here is that all products are fresh.

    Diet of the expectant mother

    A pregnant woman's diet should be complete and varied, enriched with vitamins and beneficial microelements. It is important that the expectant mother enjoys what she eats, because this is main reason good health and good mood.

    So, if the question arises about what pregnant women should not eat. The diet of the expectant mother should consist only of foods natural origin. Those. foods that a woman eats should not contain various additives, flavor enhancers, as well as dyes, which can negatively affect the development of the baby. One of the rather dangerous additives is type E additives (but not all).

    Caffeine may cause miscarriage or low birth weight of the baby. A green tea interferes with absorption folic acid necessary for the normal development of the baby.

    Carbonated drinks may cause active processes fermentation in the intestines, which provokes uterine contractions.

    For example, fish is considered a fairly healthy type of food, but fish such as tuna, mackerel, and swordfish must be excluded from your diet during pregnancy. You should also exclude from your diet the consumption of spicy, fried and highly fatty foods.

    Continuing the theme of seafood: raw shellfish are prohibited during pregnancy - how possible source pathogenic microorganisms that cause poisoning. There is a similar ban on sushi for the same reason: if you catch a helminthic infection after eating sushi, it will be difficult and long to recover. Do you just want sushi “to the point of impossibility”? Then it is better to give preference to rolls with thermally processed products, and ideally, vegetarian sushi (for example, with cucumber). But it’s better to cook them yourself, with clean hands and natural ingredients.

    Cheeses – soft (brie, cameber, feta), as well as blue cheese and goat cheese. Cheeses are included in the list of prohibited products for pregnant women due to a special preparation technology: they are produced on the basis of unpasteurized milk. And the absence of a pasteurization process leads to the fact that bacteria can persist in cheeses, which can lead to infection, and, as a result, to miscarriage or premature birth. If cheeses based on pasteurized milk are not allowed for consumption, then, logically, milk itself – unpasteurized and unboiled – is prohibited. Such milk is also very likely to contain infections that cause food poisoning.

    Poisoning, or even worse - salmonellosis - can be caused by eating raw eggs. Therefore, you should not eat either soft-boiled eggs or fried eggs: the yolk and white must harden during cooking. But quail eggs, fortunately, can be eaten raw: it has been proven that salmonella does not “live” in them. But, in any case, you should not abuse the product - after all, eggs are classified as a fairly strong allergen.

    Salmonellosis can also be found in raw meat, therefore, during pregnancy, all kinds of “Tatar steaks”, undercooked kebab or beefsteaks, rare steaks, and half-baked liver are not allowed to be eaten. During pregnancy, it is very advisable to avoid meat products such as ham and cold smoked sausages - they may contain pathogenic bacteria that contribute to infection with listeriosis or toxoplasmosis. For the same reason, it is better to refuse pates (both meat, vegetable, and fish).

    And, of course, we should not forget that a pregnant woman is very prone to heartburn, which makes itself felt as a consequence of growing and compressing internal organs(stomach and intestines including) uterus. To minimize the risk of such an unpleasant phenomenon as heartburn, as well as to prevent “overload” of the liver and gallbladder, you should avoid smoked, fried, fatty and spicy foods and dishes. And in order to avoid edema, as a result of a heavy load on the kidneys (which during pregnancy already work in an intense mode), avoid marinades and pickles.

    A doctor will help you determine more clearly what pregnant women should not eat in the early stages. Since he is the one who can advise you to eat certain foods, depending on how the pregnancy is progressing. For example, beets help provoke uterine tone, so if a pregnant woman’s uterus is already in good shape, beets should not be eaten, so as not to worsen the existing situation. Also, if there is edema that can occur in a woman during pregnancy, you should not eat salt.

    What should you not do during pregnancy?

    • Avoid allergies! Due to direct influence of food consumed, it is not recommended in large quantities consume foods that may cause allergies. Since in the future this allergy may appear in the baby. Foods that can cause allergies include chocolate, tomatoes, oranges, lemons, tangerines, and strawberries. To exclude the use of such products means to deprive yourself of pleasure and the vitamins contained in them, so you need to consume them in small quantities.
    • Before eating foods, they must be thoroughly washed; this applies to fruits and products such as meat or eggs must be thermally processed. This is necessary in order to get rid of all the bacteria that they may contain and which, if not eliminated, can harm the health of both the baby and his mother.
    • Also prohibited during pregnancy include flying on airplanes and climate change; you can go on vacation only in the first months of pregnancy. You can fly by plane until the 26th week of pregnancy. At later stages, flights are prohibited, since pressure changes affect the fetus. Low blood pressure can induce labor. For late flights, rare exceptions are made, but only with written confirmation from a doctor. It's better to just walk a lot in the fresh air.
    • It is not advisable for pregnant women to visit a hairdresser. For some women, this is a lot of stress; they have to endure it for as long as 9 months. In the early stages, you can go to the hairdresser, you just can’t dye your hair with dyes with high content ammonia. Since the chemicals that make up the paint, all these substances easily penetrate into the blood, and this is very harmful for mother and child. You should also not use hairspray or other aerosols - they also cause harm if they get into the lungs.
    • Microwaves emanating from electrical appliances are harmful to the baby, this has been proven by scientists for a long time. Therefore, you should not talk too long and often mobile phone unnecessarily. It is also not advisable to sleep in close proximity to a switched-on phone.
    • Infections urinary tract– a direct contraindication to taking a bath. You should not dive into the water if you feel the slightest discomfort. Perhaps your body is giving you a signal that you shouldn’t take a bath today. If you suddenly feel unwell while taking a bath, you should not try to get out of it on your own. You may fall, and in your position it is simply dangerous. In general, pregnant women, especially during recent months interesting position, you need assistants who will prevent you from falling when you climb into or out of the bathtub. So try to plan water treatments for the time when you are not alone at home. The water should be warm, but not scalding. Excessive increases in body temperature are contraindicated throughout pregnancy. You should not go to the sauna, solarium, or bathhouse. It’s also better to hold off on spa treatments. But please take a bath. A warm bath is one of the few pleasures available to the expectant mother during all nine happy months. The water in the bath immediately begins to cool as soon as you pour it. Top part The body is usually above the water and does not overheat. However, avoid lying in the bath for too long and try not to submerge yourself completely.
    • Aromatherapy for pregnant women. Many people like to take a bath with aromatic oils. During pregnancy you will have to give up this pleasure. Any essential oils And strong odors are contraindicated as they can cause allergies and unpredictable consequences. But it is better to reduce the amount of oils used by at least half. Be sure to tell your doctor about all the fragrances you usually use. Many oils can be dangerous to the health of your unborn baby. Oils of basil, cedar, cinnamon, lemongrass, juniper, patchouli, and cypress are especially harmful. They are excessively invigorating, increase the tone of the uterus, and this can provoke a miscarriage at any time. Perhaps your doctor will allow you to occasionally pamper yourself with baths scented with chamomile, lavender, rosewood and sandalwood, but it’s better not to risk it.
    • Herbal baths for pregnant women. Pregnant women can and even need to take a bath with herbs. Exactly this The best decision question for an expectant mother who cannot imagine life without a bath. Buy herbs at the pharmacy or collect them in the forest or field. You can grow chamomile, calendula, and mint yourself on the windowsill. Herbs are added to the bath both fresh and dried. The easiest way is to put the grass in a fabric bag and tie it to the tap while filling the bath with water. Flowing through the bag, the water will bring the juices of healthy herbs into the bath.

    Do you want to quickly organize a herbal bath? Buy herbs in bags (for one-time brewing), brew several bags as tea, add the decoction to a bath of warm water.

    Most effective method preparing a decoction for a bath looks like this. You need to take 2-3 tablespoons of dry herb, pour 2-3 liters of boiling water over it, heat it in a water bath for 15 minutes, then strain and add to the bath. Whole flowers, stems, and leaves can be steeped in boiling water for about an hour and poured into the bath without prior straining. This is exactly what a classic herbal bath looks like - it is decorated with floating flowers and leaves.

    • Clothes during pregnancy should be loose, do not tighten your waist. From high heels It's better to give up now. Firstly, it is dangerous: it increases the risk of falling. Secondly, during this period the center of gravity shifts, and the load on the spine increases. And heels enhance it. Therefore, starting from the second half of pregnancy, the risk of all kinds of radiculitis and neuralgia increases, which expectant mothers, naturally, have no need for. From 4 to 5 months of pregnancy it is recommended to wear a bandage; on the one hand, it reduces the load on the uterus, the fetus is in a more comfortable position. On the other hand, the bandage prevents abdominal stretching during pregnancy. But only if the child does not experience discomfort (if the baby does not like something, he will definitely report it, for example, he will start pushing inside his tummy). Wearing synthetic underwear, especially thongs, is prohibited. Choose natural cotton panties and special bras for pregnant.
    • Observations and data analysis were carried out at eight clinics in Sydney and maternity hospitals. Particular attention was paid to women in late pregnancy. After research, doctors said that expectant mothers are strictly not recommended to sleep or lie on their backs. Otherwise, the risk of an unfortunate miscarriage increases 6 times. This is explained by the fact that a pregnant woman lying on her back or on her right side for a long time leads to a deterioration in the nutrition of the fetus in the womb with maternal blood. Venous blood flow is weakened by lower limbs to the heart.

    According to Australians, circulatory disorders in maternal body are responsible for 10% of miscarriages.

    • You cannot raise your arms when the baby has already taken the correct position.
    • You cannot lie on your stomach or sit cross-legged.
    • When changing cat litter the likelihood of contracting toxoplasmosis increases. The result may be slow growth of the child, poor developing brain and eye damage in the fetus.
    • Do not start renovations during this period - the paints and toxins will disappear no sooner than in a year.
    • Do not lift weights or do intense activities physical exercise. If you overexert yourself, you can cause a miscarriage or premature birth.
    • Don't use bug sprays. Toxins enter your blood and from there to your baby.
    • Pregnant women should not play sports, especially in the later stages; you can simply overdo it. You can do light workouts at home, doing cleaning and cooking, while you need to monitor your breathing, inhale when exerting yourself, and exhale when gradually relaxing. With the help of such techniques, blood flows to the muscles and metabolic processes in the body are enhanced. The sports exception only applies to female athletes. Their body is accustomed to constant stress and a sudden refusal of it can most likely cause harm. However, such women should also limit their load and not try to set records. And be sure to consult a doctor!
    • Pregnant women are prohibited from drinking alcohol, narcotic substances, smoking and staying close to a smoking person. When smoke is inhaled, the fetus can develop cancer, and smoking can also cause premature birth. Children born to women who smoke develop problems with the central nervous system.
    • One of the diseases dangerous for pregnant women is rubella. Rubella in the first half of pregnancy, when the child’s organs are forming, can lead to the development of deformities in the fetus. Therefore, pregnant women should protect themselves from rubella infection and spend less time in large crowds of people.
    • You can use cosmetics, but be careful! Face cream should not contain vitamin A (in large quantities it is very harmful), hydrocortisone (this is a steroid that is dangerous for a child if used daily), or benzoyl peroxide. Regarding body gel and lotion, it is better to choose cosmetics designed specifically for pregnant women. They are safe and contain components designed to minimize the likelihood of stretch marks and breast deformation.
    • Is it possible to have sex during pregnancy? It is better to talk about this with your doctor, who should monitor you throughout your pregnancy.
    • Visiting the solarium is not recommended.
    • Under no circumstances take any medications on your own! The following medications are strictly contraindicated: Aminopterin, Methyltestosterone, Progestins, Quinine, Thalidomide, Trimethadine, Retinoids (isotretinoin, roancutane, etretinate, tigazone, acitretin). But it is not. You should not get any vaccinations.
    • Due to the formation of the skeleton of the unborn child, calcium is needed. If it is not consumed with food, then the pregnant woman’s teeth will decay. Therefore, it is recommended to eat cottage cheese, milk, kefir daily; visit the dentist periodically. Pregnant women are advised to register with antenatal clinic as early as possible from the onset of pregnancy. After all, only a qualified doctor can monitor the progress of pregnancy!
    • Important: Doctors do not recommend bringing a baby into the house strangers for about a month. Your home has its own atmosphere and microflora, and visiting guests have theirs. The child must develop immunity to the environment around him, so you should not gather crowds of people.

    We hope these tips will help you! We wish you and your baby good health.
